Send button for invites in iCal

I have tried to use iCal to invite people to a meeting. According to the instructions, you put in the attendees and push he send button at the bottom of the info drawer. I do not see a send button and the OK is not functional. Any ideas?

degrandwazoo,
Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Are you following the instructions listed in: Inviting guests to an event? Click None next to "attendees" (or if someone has already been invited to the event, click to the right of the name and press the Return key on your keyboard), then type the email address for the person you want to invite to the event. Are the attendees in your address book?
I can repeat your observation when I put one or all of my email addresses in the attendee field. In that case "Send" is not visible and "OK" is not functional.

My "send" button for iMessage is not working. Anyone else having this problem?

Mine isn't working either for my iPhone. I tried activating it again and it won't wont let me select my number for iMessage:/ it only lets me add an email address which is pointless seeing as I use I message to txt from my number.

  • Every now and then my SEND button for texts is greyed out and unfunctional

I'll be texting someone just fine then suddenly the SEND button freezes up and doesn't allow me to continue the conversation.
    Anyone else?

Hey! I get the same problem. I'm so happy I found someone like you, cuz no one at Rogers (my carrier) or Apple knows what's going on. I've recently tried going to "Settings" "Messages" and turning OFF "Show Subject Field". I do not yet know if this will solve our problem which is constantly frustrating, but I saw this in a discussion forum so I've just tried this. Let's keep each other posted on this intermittent issue okay? I get so bugged when I'm texting back & forth & suddenly for no reason the "send" button goes gray & simply won't allow me to continue no matter if I turn the phone off/on or whatever or even delete that string of texts & begin again to same person, (who's now been waiting too long for my reply LOL) Cheers, Steve. iPhone (647) 300-9222 Toronto. • Cryptic sequence of numbers as sender name for invitations

When I want to send an calendar invitation to my business address, my sender name is a cryptic sequence of numbers instead of "first name last name". These are the steps:
    1. Receiving Email form my iPad with the invitation
    2. Download the attached ics to my desktop of the windows PC
    3. Drag&Drop the ics to the Lotus Notes Calendar
    4. The invitation is visible, the sender name is i.e. 2fjfu3oodsjdf90499fj993efj0ßßejfefjß39eß939hgsdlfnasdäfa9e9
I know that this invitation is from my private account. But what about friends I wanted to invite? Or should I invite only friends with apple equipment?!?! ;-)

    Well,
Nokia MfE doesn't reply to my mails. I guess that only poeple using MfE v 2.09.158 who are not registered to the MfE Service (I guess you have to pay a monthly fee as it is with the Blackberry service) have the sender name problem. Of course you can use MfE with other mail providers than Nokia MfE. But in this case "Mail for Exchange" will appear as sender name.
I now switched over to MfE's competitor "RS" and don't have this annoying problem anymore. The alternative to RS would be using the old MfE version where I didn't have that sender name prob. But as my battery was empty after 15 hrs using the old MfE version (with RS my battery lasts 3 days !!!) there is no real alternative to RS!
This sender name problem seems to be part of Nokia's business strategy. As they want to compete with Blackberry they want you to register (and pay the MfE mail service monthly). Probably that's the reason why you get MfE for free (RS costs 50 US$).
     Any comments on my theory?!
    BR, Johnny

  • Add SEND button for service commands

Would it be possible to add a "send" button at the bottom middle for service command view?
Service command is the menu you get when you phone a *123# number for example.
Currently you have to select your number/option by typing it and then select "Options" and select send. There are just two buttons currently in that view (Back and Options) on the Symbian Belle interface. My old Nokia had a dedicated send button
Anyway, would really make things easier because these type op menu's are used by the mobile banking sites and to check my cellphone account balances.
    Thanks!

Agree, its very annoying that you have to press more buttons for simple operations like sending sms.

  • Send button for email

Why on earth isn't there a way to include a send button in the main window of Mail so I can send my written email all at once by clicking Send. It's only available in the individual email window. That means that when I get online to send email I have to open all of the email again in order to send one at a time. This seems a ridiculous feature to have been omitted.

    ?
If the mail goes to your Outbox after composing, it should all be sent automatically when you go online.
I just tried this... turned of the Airport so that the internet connection was lost. Then composed two messages hitting send to send them to the Outbox. Then turned the Airport back on, and after about 10 s both messages were sent without me having to do anything.

  • How do I modify the default account for events in iCal?

I have several email accounts (for biz&home) and I want to use them, depending on the event, as the account from where an invitation from iCal is sent. So if a have a football game with friends, I want to use my personal account when sending an iCal event. But when I want to make a biz meeting, I want to use my work account in that invitation. How or where can I make these selections/options appear? Is it possible?
If not, how can I set the default account for invitations in iCal? (I already have a "default" account in Mail, but iCal is not using that account for invitations).
    Any help is appreciated

    Hi salazar2,
Been dealing with a similar issue for about 3 years now, so I know your pain. I founded a company in 2009 called Zamain that is focused on making Mac calendaring more productive. Our first product, Zamain for Mac, solves your problem as well as Apple iCal to Microsoft Outlook/Exchange incompatibilities. The current version includes the following features:
    * Sends iCal invitations that Outlook users can actually open
    * Sends invitations from any email account
    * Lets you add comments to invitation replies
    * Makes timezones actually work
    * Prevents weird attachments from appearing in your invitation emails
Although I know that this is a shameless plug for my product, I urge you to give it a try because it will really make your life easier. We have a happy user base, are actively developing new solutions, and are always open to suggestions.
You can get Zamain for Mac at www.zamain.com.
    Thanks!

  • Send Button - Confirm before sending?

I keep accidentally sending texts because while I am typing I will hit the "send" button (maybe when hitting O or P). Is there a texting app that has the send button somewhere else? Is there way to have to phone confirm before sending?

    Greetings,
Be more careful - I have huge hands and fingers, a size 15 ring, and I never have had a problem with that.
The only thing I can think of is that you may be in too big a hurry, slow down a little, they aren't likely to move the "Send" button for SMS.
    Cheers,
    M.

  • Green 'Send' button in messages?

Why is the send button for text messages now green on my iphone 4? Other phones on our plan updated to iOS 5 are still blue. Is there a setting I am missing? Thanks in advance.

A green button means that the message is being sent using SMS or MMS.
A blue button means the message is being sent directly to the device using iMessage.
Have you supplied your Apple ID in Settings->Messages and enabled iMessage?

  • Send Button and XMLP_SCHEDULER group security bug

    hi folks,
My BIP users are grouped into basic users who can just read reports and advanced users who can schedule them. Obviously i've done this using the XMLP_SCHEDULER group, no problem. Those in XMLP_SCHEDULER see the scheduler button and it works fine and those not in the group cannot see the schedule button.
However, the basic users who are NOT in the XMLP_SCHEDULER group still see the "send" button, but when they click on it it gives an error:
"Unauthorized Access: please contact the administrator."
I would like the basic users to be able to send, NOT to schedule. Or if this is not possible at least for them not to see the send button!
This seems like a bug in the security setup which i wonder if anyone else has managed to work around.
    thanks
    neil

    Hi Saichand,

Any ideas / thoughts would be greatly apprecated.

  • Why does the Send button disappear on iCal invites?

Just to premise this post with the fact that this is from our networked work server, all running Macs on 10.6.7 and using iCal 4.0.4. I'm writing this on behalf of a colleague.
When she goes to send invites to events like Board/Committee meetings in iCal, the "Send" button often disappears. The title is there, there's a day/time and location, and the contacts are pulled from her Mail/Address Book contacts. Sometimes the send button stays as it should, and other times it disappears after a few seconds, with no way to bring it back up. So sometimes she tries to add a group of contacts and immediately hit Send before it disappears - but this often leads to typos or mistakes due to her rush.
Although I've used a Mac as my primary computer for years, I've never really used iCal much, so I didn't know how to help directly.
Any reasons why the Send button would not be showing? I was thinking perhaps it was an issue with the contacts, but they come directly from her daily Mail/Address Book. I saw her go through the steps - it doesn't appear she's missing anything. Any help would be great.

perhaps you could post a screen capture of that?
Does it work if you hold shift while you start Thunderbird?

  • How to send invitations from iCal in a different language?

My MBP is setup for Dutch, but when I make an invitation in iCal I want this to be send in English. How can I achieve this automatically (and easy)?

I have the same problem. Does anyone know if it is possible for a PC user to receive and open an iCal event inviation? So far, my recipients have been unable to open my event invitations.

  • Cannot Send Event Invites From iCal

I cannot send invited from iCal.
I am running Lion version 10.8.5.
When I create a new event and try to invite others to the event their name is grayed out with a question mark next to it.
My apple ID uses a gmail email address.
I am using iCloud and syncing to Googlralso using Caldev and I have IOS devices, an  iPhone & iPad and an Android phone
Any ideas anyone or is this a common problem ?

Hello. Did you ever find a solution to this issue? I'm having the same one. My wife's iCal invitations are showing up in my iCal "Inbox" but are not coming to me via email. I discovered this while troubleshooting the issue just now...and saw that I had 10+ iCal invites for which I never received email notifications.
I never proactively check iCal, so definitely need to resolve this issue, as receiving emailed invitations is the only way they're filed into my iCal. Thanks for any insight!

  • When I accept an event invitation in iCal, does it send a response?

I am running iCal 4.0.4 with OSX 10.6.8.
When someone sends me an invitation from Outlook, I get an email with a .ics attachment.
    This appears in iCal OK.
    Then I click on it.
I get the option to accept, decline or maybe.
If I click "accept", does iCal send a response or not?
If it does send a response, what email address does it send from? If it emails the organiser I want it to come from my work address, not my mobileme address.
I also have the problem that I can't edit events sent to me in this way.
iCal doesn't recognise that the email address the invitation was sent to, my work address, is "me". I DO have ALL my email addresses on the "me" card in Address book. But despite this, I can't edit the invitations I receive. So, for example, I can't put them in the right calendar. Very frustrating.
    Can anyone help? Thanks.

To be more precise, i accepted the invitation using the Mac, and created the event on iCal, but when I check the event in the application Calendar on the iPad - as said - I cannot edit it, and neither delete it. Does anybody else have this problem?
