Send button on "new" mail missing.

The SEND button on the new mail being composed has gone missing. I checked on the same MACOSX version of my Powerbook and it's still there. Anyone have any idea what's happened.
Thanks,
Bette

Thanks. My Send button is now back. It took me a while to understand what and exactly where the lozenge shaped button is, Finally found it under the upper right magnifying glass -- the oblong shaped untitled button. Duh! BTW, love the upper right magnifying glass to search my computer.
Thanks for solving this headache.
I had a difficult time getting my outgoing SMTP server for BellSouth (AT&T) set up for Mail 3.1. Has to be exactly right and ATT only has on line instructions up to 2.1. Changing outgoing server took two saves -- first time entered new server, stayed at "none" and had to go back in to select.
Off and running with my new and first mac. Yay! Though very disappointed to have to run Quicken 2008 for PC on Boot Camp given the problems with Q 2007 for mac. Pages and pages of instructions to port and still lots of warnings about possible problems with Mac version. Also off to google how to surf and download while in Boot Camp so I can download to Quicken.

  • The "send" button in the mail programm is gone ... how can I make it visible again?

    For a couple of days my "send" button in the mail programm is gone and I can´t send emails due to this failure. I am pretty sure my 2-year old daughter hit some button by accident and the "send" button is gone since then. She discovered a couple of features by accident I would have never dreamed of so far so I believe the hidden button is also possible to get back. Please help since I couldn´t find something so far.
    Thank you!

    right click on the button bar, then select "customize toolbar", drag any button you like into the toolbar and you're done!

  • Send button on email messages missing

    HELP.
    The send button on my email messages is missing when I try to create a new email. In order to email I now click on reply, erase the sender and add in the person I am trying to send a note to, and have to erase whatever the "donor email" message was.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hello firemedic015,
    In the compose message window, Control Click on the buttons bar, see if you can get the "Send" button back...

  • Mighty Mouse side button gives 'new mail' sound

    I have recently noticed a strange phenomenon with the mighty mouse on my iMac :-
    Whenever I squeeze the side buttons in either Mail or Adobe Reader it gives the (submarine) 'new mail' sound. Other applications are fine. I am using Steermouse, and the side buttons are configured to give the 'page back' command in my browser, which works correctly. But I'm sure that the strange sound problem didn't used to occur.
    Any ideas what's going on ?
    Cheers,
    Chris.

    It's because there is nothing to go back to, so it plays the "alert/error" sound.
    Just like it would if you were to hit the shortcut key....

  • Applescript for sending selection as new Mail

    Hello. What i'm trying to achieve is adding an option to Safari for getting the selected text and sending it to Mail as the content of a new email message, along with the website's url. The already available action "New Mail Message" is able to do half of what i'm asking: it can send my selection to Mail as the content of a new emal message, but nothing more. I'm trying to compose an Applescript to run from within my Automator Service, but i'm getting an error: *The action "Run AppleScript" encountered an error.*
    Any ideas?
    Here is a screenshot of my Automator Workflow:
    http://tinypic.com/r/2qi2xom/3
    *And here is the script i'm using:*
    on run {input, parameters}
    set myBodyText to value of variable "mySelection" of front workflow
    set siteURL to value of variable "mySiteURL" of front workflow
    tell application "Mail"
    make new outgoing message with properties {visible:true, subject:"Something Interesting", content:"" & siteURL & myBodyText}
    end tell
    return input
    end run

    Javascript can return the selected text...
    tell application "Safari"
    tell document 1
    set selected_text to do JavaScript "var txt = '';
    if (window.getSelection)
        txt = window.getSelection();
    else if (document.getSelection)
        txt = document.getSelection();
    else if (document.selection)
        txt = document.selection.createRange().text;
    else return;
    set siteURL to URL
    end tell
    end tell
    tell application "Mail"
    activate
    make new outgoing message with properties {visible:true, subject:"Something Interesting", content:"" & siteURL & return & return & selected_text}
    end tell

    it will not let me open a new mail screen. The mail is working (all green dots) I just hear a faint beep.....please help!

    Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
    Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Try the action again. Post any messages that appear in the Console window – the text, please, not a screenshot.
    Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.

  • Send button dimmed on Mail

    I bought a new iMac Wednesday that came with OS X 10.4 installed and I was able to send e-mails. Yesterday I installed OS X 10.5 and then the 5.1 upgrade and now the "send mail" button is dimmed so I cannot send e-mails. I noticed that the "Chat" button is also dimmed but the "Attach," "Address," "Fonts" "Colors" and "Save as Draft" buttons all work.
    I receive mail but cannot send any. Help!

    First question, why did you bring it home with 10.4 on it when they should have given you 10.5? Carol you shouldn't have to be dealing with any issues on your brand NEW Mac. It should have come with 10.5 pre-installed and everything on it should already be working. Also, just so that you know, you shouldn't have paid for 10.5 Leopard upgrade, it should have been included as part of the Mac system. Having said all of that, if you still want to deal with these Mail problems on your own +(instead of having Apple do it under warranty)+ then you'll need to find out if you are logged in as the Admin. Do you have more than one account on the Mac? If so try logging in as a new user and see if they have the button grayed out.

  • New Message "Send" Button has disappeared!

    i don't know how or why or when this happened, but the "Send" button on new mail messages has disappeared. I now have to use the "message" menu and select "send" from there.
    any suggestions on how to get it back? I tried the view menu but no luck there!

    have you tried quiting Mail and relaunching?
    If that doesn't work try moving the following files to the desktop and then Logging out/ Login in.
    ~users/library/caches/mail
    ~users/library/mail/envelope index
    If that works you can trash the files on your desktop.
    This might cure the problem.

  • Can Reply, but Can't Send New Mail

    I first noticed this when I tried to share a URL last night. I kept getting an error trying to send the URL. I've tried sending test mail and there's no immediate error, but the messages show up in the out box, indicating unsent.
    However, if I reply to mail, it sends without a problem. This is all to and from Earthlink. If I send from .Mac, new mail sends without a problem and then I see the error from trying to send the mail from Earthlink.
    Please help!
    Phredd

    I don't know how the server would block messages any
    differently than it would for messages sent from my
    Mac. They're both going through the same network -
    my Earthlink (Comcast) broadband connection from home.
    If the iPhone and the Mac are using the same network connection, the server shouldn't be able to tell the difference. This tells me your iPhone may be connecting through EDGE and not WiFi.

  • Email 'send' button not working

    I have an odd problem.
    The 'Send' button on my Mail application is greyed out so I can still receive mail but I can't send any.
    Has anyone any experience of something odd like this, and if so, what advice would you offer?
    Thanks in advance.

    Kieran,
    Did you look at these two kb articles:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3276
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1307
    First is for 10.6, second for 10.5, but both have essentially the same thing for a dimmed send button...make sure the SMTP server is not set to none.

  • If your Send / button icons are missing in new messages in Mail, do this

    I was mystified as to why the button icons (for Send, Attach, etc) were suddenly missing from my "new message" email windows. The text descriptions were still there, so i could use the functions, but they were in tiny text, more difficult to click on. Trying to drag the icons back on from the view/customize toolbar menus (as was suggested in prior discussions i found here here) did not work.
    Then i noticed a drop-down menu called "Show" in the bottom left of the View> Customize Toolbar window (opened directly from a New Message window). It toggles whether you see Text Only, Icons and Text, or Icons Only. Mine was somehow set to Text Only. Just toggling it to Text and Icons brought my buttons back.
    I don't know how that preference got changed- i didn't do it, and no one else has access to my Mac- and it looks from Discussions like this has happened to others, and only while in New Message (a glitch?).
    This is the simple but not immediately apparent fix.

    Thanks Bernd:  I am using Adobe Acrobat 10 Pro.  I did get a response from Dave Marchant which directed me how to find the layers icon and I found the options icon as suggested in Adobe Help.  However, the options do not allow me to choose an option of either merging layers or flattening layers.  I am a novice at this and am trying to get this 1-page pdf graphic to convert to a Word document.  Is it possible that I already have a single layer pdf and that Word is doing something weird during the conversion?  I tried to convert the document yesterday and I ended up with two pages in Word.  One page had the text boxes and one had the river channels on which the text boxes had been inserted.  This is not a document I created.  We have been struggling for 5 years at various times to get this one page document into Word so that it can be used in multiple reports.  Even the graphics departments at a couple of companies have not been able to get this document resized from the original 11 x 17 format into 8.5 x 11.  I managed to get that done yesterday.  But now can't get a useable version into Word.  Suggestions?

    Hi, try this...
    If nothing is showing in the Toolbar at top, click the little gray oval at top right.
    Right click or Control+click on the Toolbar, choose Customize Toolbar, drag the Send button to the Toolbar.
