Send emails from laptop and iPad

Whenever I send emails from my laptop or my iPad, I receive that email from myself in my inbox on both laptop and iPad. How can I change this so that they only appear as 'sent' emails in the correct folder? It's driving me mad!!

This is in Preferences/Composing for Apple Mail. Obviously, you want the "Automatically" box unchecked.
I'm not near my iPad but I believe that you'll find a similar choice somewhere in settings.

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

Can't send emails from my new ipad but can receive them. I've checked the settings and username and password are setup correctly. My email account is with tiscali. My iPhone 5 is setup the same but works ok.

TS3276 can receive and send email on ipad and can send email from mac to ipad but cannot read emails on mac

mac was set up with email account. now i am unable to read my emails, tried sending test email from mac to ipad and it worked sent email from ipad to mac but did not register why? when it use to work up until tuesday. checked email sever settings and all seems to be the same as the ipad so seems ok

Emails from iPhone and iPad

Emails being sent from these devices, that have attachments, are being rejected with the following message:
Cannot Send Mail
The message was rejected by the server because it is too large.
These are basic Word or pdf documents of modest size so it seems unusual that the emails would be rejected. Any suggestions?

What kind of email account do you have? And what does the receiver have?
Is your inbox/the receiver's inbox full? That can cause issues.

Losing emails from iPhone and iPad

I have folders which I save things to and last week they just disappeared? I could see them it updated and then they disappeared. Eli what do I do. I am assuming I am not going to be able to get them back,

Can not send email from Mac, iPhone, or iPad using mail using iCloud.

I can send email from the icloud web page but I get error messages that the icloud outgoing server is not recongized when I send email from my iphone, ipad and Mac mail. I can receive icloud email okay on all devices. I have manully setup a icloud server per instructions on icloud support page for mail's outgoing server name. It still is not recongized.

I found a work around that works. Got to Settings...Icloud....account......advanced....outgoing mail server.....
Add an "other" server.
Host Name p01-smtp.mail.me.com
Put in your me.com email address as username and your Apple ID password
SSL is on
Authentication is password
Server port 587
This worked for me.....I will use this until the bug is fixed. Don't make this server your primary. Leave it in "on" status in the other category.

Can't send email from my 4s

Since my last update (4s) just a few weeks ago, i can no longer send emails from iCloud and aol account. I received the following message: Cannot Send Mail, The user name or password for "SMTP: ****@[email protected]" is incorrect. The same goes for my aol account. They were working just fine prior to update. Help?! Thanks!

I have had issues of "password incorrect" and mail not being sent, after doing the latest IOS 8 update to both my iPhone and iPad. I tired all the different suggestions I found (deleting and re-adding my AOL account, changing my password, etc) and nothing fixed it until now! While searching around for a solution, I happened upon a post from someone. I tried doing this to all three of my AOL email accounts (on both my iPhone and iPad) and now it works great! Here what that post said to do:
"1. Set up your AOL account(s) using the AOL option
2. Go into each AOL account(s) and under the "Outgoing Mail Server" section, press the SMTP entry
3. Set the "Primary Server" to "Off"
4. Press "Add Server" and provide the following information in the "Outgoing Mail Server" section
    a. Host Name - type in: smtp.aol.com
    b. User name - type in your user name WITHOUT the "@aol.com" - that was the problem/change!
    c. Password - type in your password
    d. Use SSL - On
    e. Authentication - Password
    f. Server Port - 587 (mine automatically set it to port 587)
After you enter in the above info, the Primary Server will still be set to OFF, but the new server you set will be set to ON, just doesn't show up in the Primary Server section. Be sure to do the above steps for each one of your AOL accounts (if you have multiples ones).
Apparently, in the main AOL Account Information section you need to use your user name and the "@aol.com", but you need to leave the "@aol.com" out of the SMTP. However, the Primary Server has that whole section grayed out so you need to ignore that one and create another one."

Why can't I send emails from my iphone & ipad? Everything worked fine last night, but I updated my software yesterday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been having the same problem with one of several email accounts on one iPad2 and one iPhone5. It has been driving me crazy. I have deleted and reinstalled the email accounts more times than I can count and was ready to throw the device out the window. However I just found a post from another user who stated that they were able to solve this problem by confirming that the outgoing mail server password was corrected. Apparently they found that after an upgrade the old password was retained by the server. I had never checked this because it's a few extra steps to get into the outgoing mail server. When I did I found that it was incorrect. Once changed, I was able to send the email again. Problem solved! Also I agree that the other user was rude in commenting to you the way that he/she did. Hope this helps you

Problems sending email from aol since update 7.1

Since installing IOS7.1 I have not been able to send any email messages through any of my email accounts from I pad 2 or I phone 4S.. I can still receive emails ok. Has anyone had same problem?

How many of you use CTRL + Enter to send email from Outlook

It's a much faster option...and you don't have to grab that pesky mouse!

I was working this morning and I asked my fiance if she used CTRL + Enter to send email from Outlook and she was not even aware that was an option. I have been using it for years and I wondered how many of you SpiceHeads use it as well?

TS3899 I cannot send email from my I pad it sends from my I Phone and laptop but wont send from ipad. i have deleted the email and reinstalled it and still cant send mail.I have contacted my internet provider and they say all my settings are correct.

In the wee hours of the night I had an idea and downloaded OSX again and that seems to have fixed my problem. I wish I'd thought of that last week!

Your settings for the SMTP server — host name, port number, SSL/TLS or not, or login credentials — are likely incorrect. Use the Connection Doctor tool (Mail.app > Window > Connection Doctor) to check what's going on with the connections (and to get some diagnostic messages), then review the diagnostics and the current settings with the requirements established for your particular mail provider.

We purchased a new iPad2 and registered it using a 'new' iCloud email/ID. We are unable to send email from the iPad and iPhone. The error is: Cannot send mail. The user name or password for iCloud is incorrect.

About ~20 hours later, this ended up solving itself. We can send email using the '.icloud' email from both the iPad and iPhone. Advise would be 'wait' before you start seeking alteranatives like yahoo, hotmail, etc. This definitely is a convenient way to keep all your 'cloud' information in a centralized place, including the common email...
