Send For Repair Got Back With Scratches

I got mine macbook in november. I had some problem with it in Dec and then i took an appointment with mac genius and gave mine macbook thinking that they will solve mine problem and will handle mine macbook with care. As mine macbook was just a few days old i mean i cant say a month and it was more than 15 days old so i cant go and give it back... So here it goes... the guy at mac genius took mine macbook and asked me to wait for 24 hours and they will call me with the status... after 24 i Called them and latter i came to know there is nothing wrong with mine macbook and he asked it to take it back... i went to store and got it back home.. i was in hurry.. i had to catch flight for mine work purpose... i went to office and i saw a big scratch on mine macbook even mine battery and underneath of mine macbook was in bad condition. i called the store. they say they cannot do anything.. i mean he called me back to store... thats in houston.... i will be going on monday back to that store.. Any 1 have any idea what can be done... i mean will they replace mine macbook or just they will talk and do nothing.. i have Protection plan with mine macbook.. as if they will do nothing i dont wanne waste mine ticket fare to just to go and talk... i know its their fault for scratches on mine laptop...

If you have a digital camera, it is probably a good idea to take documentary photographs at the store when dropping item expensive and delicate item off for service. That's like when you rent a car any they go over the car with you, noting any pre-existing damage before you drive away. That protects both them and you.
In this case, the store is taking temporary custody of your MacBook, so the roles are reversed, but the concept is the same. I'd make sure the work oder slip makes note of any damage - or general condition of lacking damage when handing over the computer.
It is a hassle, but at this point, Applecare and customer relations are probably your only recourse. At the very least, if you notify customer relations, perhaps they will put pressure on the store to handle equipment more carefully and future customers will benefit too.
This thread bothers me. Several other discussion threads recently reported similar poor experiences at Apple retail stores: either carelessly treated equipment or bad advice / crass treatment by the so-called geniuses. I want to see the quality of the Apple stores to be kept high, as this is what helps differentiate Apple from being just another PC. I feel the differentiation is part of what keeps the value of my Apple stock shares high - and I like that. (So far, there's a lot to like!)

I would advise you to call CREATIVE CUSTOMER CARE first, see what they have to say. If you have to, you can go down to the repair centre and have it fixed. However, if the repairs are too costly, it makes no sense to repair it. You can get mp3 players very cheaply outside these days... a typical 52mb would cost around 00 bucks(might be more for higher-end ones, or lesser for the "no-brand" ones), while a typical GB would be in the region for 20-50.
In case you do not have creative customer care number, it's 685 400

  • Would like to know if I can connect a macbook pro and link to a PC in any way and still access the macbook pro's files. Display is out/have black screen. I want to back up before I send for repair, but don't own another mac to restart 7.

Is there any way to connect my 2011 macbook pro to my PC laptop (Dell) so that I can get files off of the Mac? The display on the pro is out and I've got a black screen. The computer turns on. Actually it turned on one time after many tries and when I took it the Mac store the guy hit restart before I could stop him. I don't have another Mac to back up files to in restart 7 mode and I can't see my external hard drive to copy to when the computer has no display, so I am at a loss on how to get the files. I would like to get them before I send in for repairs. Any suggestions are appreciated.

The only other thing I can think of is to pull the drive out and hook it to another machine with a USB enclosure. Something like this:
    http://www.amazon.com/Vantec-NexStar-2-5-Inch-External-Enclosure/dp/B002JQNXZC/r ef=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1388312417&sr=8-2&keywords=2.5+enclosure
Then you could read it like an external USB drive. It's easy to open up and get the drive out.

  • Camera won't work, sending for repairs

I bought an Xperia Z2 from a friend. The phone is nice and everything was working fine, until one day the camera stopped working. Whenever I open a camera app, even any flashlight app, it either says, "Unfortuantely, the camera has stopped" or "Can't connect to camera." I spoke to Sony customer service and received quick troubleshooting help. Unfortunately, neither updating the software, nor resetting the phone helped. I spoke to customer service again and they've asked me to send in the phone. I do not have a purchase receipt for this phone, so I asked a sony rep and he said it wasn't important and I could just send the phone without a receipt. So, I got the RMA, 82914324801 and I'm shipping the phone today. I hope it gets fixed within the next couple of weeks.
I checked the forums for repair reviews and thought it would be great if I document my entire repair process right here.
I've spent a lot of money on this device and just for that 20.7MP camera. I also bought the phone based on the fact that it was still under warranty. I also do not wish to get into a "call sony every other day" cycle.
If you have experienced either great or not-so-great customer service please let me know.
    08/29/2014: RMA number generated
    09/02/2014: Shipped by FedEx
09/03/2014: Delivered (as per FedEx), no confirmation from Sony
09/08/2014: Received an email from UPS for package shipping out of Sony. Contacted customer service they confirmed my device was being sent back but they didn't have any idea if the device was fixed.

What happened to your phone? Did it fix? And from what country you are? Thanks

  • Anyone's whine fixed after sending for repair?

    All,
Sorry to keep harping on the whine issue, but I have not seen a lot on the forum from those who have their MBP's in for repair. Has anyone sent their machine in for internal hardware replacement and received a whine-free MBP in return?
Many have mentioned logic board and temperature sensor replacement? Interested to know how the repairs turned out.
Interestingly, I just received by MBP back from a white spot repair. They replaced the entire LCD and all the hardware. The best part is that on the bottom bezel where "MacBook Pro" is written some of the letters did not get filled in with the silver letter inserts, so I officially have a one-of-a-kind "MacBoo Po" It's very strange, there are indentions in the bezel where the letters should be, but not actual silver letters.
    -JB

Mine just got pack this morning. the paperwork says that only the inverter was replaced, anyways its still makes a noise from the hard drive and a very very slight buzzing noise from the area the whine was coming from, but nothing like the whine and it doesn't vary with brightness, but my whine took time to develop and get louder so I am keeping my fingers crossed that I can leave the Macbook running while I sleep again (I have trouble with any noises, my GF's dell drives me insane even the power brick on that thing whines)
anyways I talked to them last tuse got the box on wed shipped in at 4:30 on thurs (took it to the local hub) and got it back today.

  • Took my mac in for repair came back even worse

Brace yourselves for a long explanation:
My MacBook Pro 15" retina started acting up about a month ago, sudden restarts and such, I assumed that Yosemite was to blame but, then when the laptop got hot the problems worsened I touched an area by the bottom of the Left speaker or moved it ever so slightly, screen goes black, or for no reason at all, but the Mac remains on until it force restarts itself to the Kernel reboot screen where I have to start all over again. The hotter it gets the more sensitive the issue is, also my screen is out of focus on the log in window and after I enter my password, the mouse comes up pixilatated large in the centre of the screen however it did work
As a back story,my screen was replaced by Apple a few months ago due to a large number or pixels dropping which they did free of charge
Now I took it into the Mac store and they said they had no idea but  they'll look into it, the next morning i was called to say I need to pay £620 to fix it, now the reason they said was water damage,  However this Mac is used  in an Electronics Lab and occasionally the library when the lab is closed, and i'm certain I've never spilt anything or for that matter had liquid near it. So I went into see where this liquid damage had occurred, and as there's no point arguing with the geniuses once they have reached there verdict, picked up the laptop and took it home. I'm not saying the guy was wrong, but I don't see how that was the case.
When I reached home and booted up my MacBook I'm stuck in the reset your login password screen, I can select what's wrong with my password and then I can enter my iCloud ID but that is it, no WiFi no back or restart, nothing
I can't afford to pay the repairs, but now they have given me a laptop that is essentially a £1799 pretty block of aluminum rather than a Mac that restarted every 10min
Has anyone ever been here or can give any advice at all on how to improve my situation?

They seem to be refusing to do anything due to the liquid damage, although I belive the problem stems, as far as I can tell from the original repair, water damage or not :/ I may take it in again but it's another 2hr roundtrip to see them and to wait a week for an appointment :/

  • Nearly new Laptop in for repair, comes back broken, no help from Lenovo.

In February of this year I purchased a built to order Lenovo Thinkpad W510. It's a beautiful machine, and I was overwhelmingly satisfied for until about two weeks ago when the screen randomly went berserk, crazy flashing and horizontal lines all over the place. I called Lenovo support and was directed to take it to a local dealer, Express Computers. I did so the following Tuesday, as it was a long weekend, so even the day I dropped it off to be fixed I had already been without the use of my PC which is critical for my business.
Express Computers told me that it would be ready for pickup in three days, and that they would call me when they had diagnosed the problem. They never called, so I called them and they told me they were having difficulties because Lenovo was saying the screen must have been physically damaged. I treat this computer like a baby, it doesn't even have scratch on it let alone any damage to the screen.
I called Lenovo to inquire and they said they knew nothing about this, and I should have the repair shop call them. I did so, and the repair shop called me back and claimed that it was another department at Lenovo giving them trouble and but as a courtesy they would order the part and replace the screen anyway. At this point they explained that the reason they suspected physical damage was because some kind of metal bezel around the screen was all bent. I can only assume this was done during manufacturing, because it most certainly was not done by me.
The next day, which was Friday they called the say my computer was ready for pickup. I had now been without my computer for 6 days and unable to conduct any business activities (I am a web designer and photographer).
I took the laptop home, and it worked properly for about an hour before the screen went berserk again. I am now without my computer for a second weekend, and who knows how long I will be without it next week.
I took the laptop back to the repair shop today and they acted confused, insisted they replaced the screen and suggested I should be given a new PC by lenovo.
I was very happy with this computer, but unless Lenovo fixes this issue NOW, and apologizes to me for suggesting I damaged the computer myself, and makes it up to me somehow, I will NEVER purchase another Lenovo product, and do my best to ensure no one I know does either.

    Thanks Jimbo.
I read your thread, although I don't think its gonna make a difference at this point. The laptop is in for the second time, and they told me it would be ready this morning and I just called and its still isn't done. Once the laptop is back in my hands I will be giving them a piece of my mind, and if its still broken this time I will be taking it elsewhere.
I hate Macs, but the one thing I envy about Mac users is how easy it is to get them serviced. No screwing around will third parties to screw everything up.

  • IPhone privacy when sending for repair.

Can apple employees access my photos, messages or any of my personal data when I send my IPhone in for a repair when it hasn't been reset?
My IPhone 5C has a problem where it doesn't accept any chargers, or charge at all when I plug in offical and unnofficial chargers, before when my phone was working, the battery life would last maybe 2-4 hours at 100% and often overheat if left on, and since I can't charge my IPhone to back up the data or reset my IPhone and update it,I have to send it away, with all of my personal information, apps, photos and accounts logged in on it.
Can the Apple employees access my IPhone and the data such as Photos in camera roll, videos, IMessage, text messages, call history? and if they CAN are they allowed to? is there a policy against viewing the persons personal information such as photos etc on the phone?
    Thankyou

Play it safe, perform an iPhone backup to your computer or iCloud (or both if you're really cautious).  If you do backup to your computer (which is probably best) you can also encrypt your backup if you'd like -- just make sure you remember your backup's password.  Also make sure that your contacts are synced somewhere because contacts are not really part of your iPhone backup -- but if they're synced to iCloud, Gmail, etc. then its just a matter of setting up the iCloud or Gmail account to recover your contacts.
Once you've done that, on your iPhone select Settings/ General/ Reset/ Erase All Content and Settings.  That will wipe it clean, and is probably what Apple would do anyway, but you can do this to ensure your information is erased before getting to them.

  • Broke my screen do i lose my data if send for repair?

Hi everyone, on friday my screen broke and i took it for a repair. Unfortunately i later realised that i havent backed up my phone the last 2 months.
The techguy said they MIGHT wipe the phone clean but i cant afford loosing my data. Is this true are they going to erase everything, i have passode lock enabled.
Is it not possible to install the new screen without formating? if not what should i do?
I read here that with an adapter i can hook up a mouse and use the phone for backup is that true?
Please let me know so i can recall the techguy before they mess with it.

  • Send for repair?

I am currently having two problems with my G570 notebook.
First is a problem with latency sound/video keeps skipping.
And now the machine wont boot up. When turned on a screen appears saying there is "No bootable device".
I am wondering how I can send the machine off to be repaired under the warranty. I like in  Northern Ireland (UK)

  • Acrobat "Send for Shared Review" - Reviewing with Adobe Reader?

    Hello all,
I am experimenting with Acrobat's collaboration function and I think I am almost there...
    1) I built a webDAV server
    2) Authenticated the document with the webDAV server.
    3) Tested making edits to the document locally... in both Acrobat and Reader (I had to Save As Other the PDF as a Reader Extended Document)
    4) Now, I think I have one last hurdle to overcome.
When another user received the test file, I was dismayed that PDF asked the user for the webDAV user name and password. Why? This security information should be stored in the document. It should automatically log into the webDAV server.
Anyhow, once the login information was provided, the reviewer can successfully enter comments into the document. So... sort of success. :]
I just need to solve that login problem because I can't be giving out the user name and password to the webDAV server.
    Any ideas?

    Sabian Zildjian wrote:
Yes,  it is.  Especially just about every WebDAV interface uses SSL/HTTPS to authenticate for access.
I understand that. Perhaps I am not explaining myself (or not understanding your reply)
What I am bothered by is that when the reviewer opens the PDF document, in Adobe Reader, the reader is asked to enter the user name and password of the webDAV server and then they are asked to enter their user name, email address, etc. That is a lot of steps I would love to eliminate in order to make the review process as easy and seamless as possible.
If anything, I would love to embed the webDAV authentication into the PDF.
Shall I presume that you are using PDF Shared Reviews with a webDAV server? Do your reviewers have to first enter the webDAV's user name and password and then second, enter their personal information, every time they wish to review a document?
