Send from Gmail alias in Mail.app in iOS 7?

I have a Gmail account with several email accounts that forward into it. I've configured Gmail on the web so that I can send email from those accounts.
I just set up this Gmail account in Mail.app in iOS7 on my iPad.
In Gmail on the web, if I receive an email to one of the accounts that forwards into this Gmail account, and click "reply", it will automatically send use that account as the "from" address (rather than the Gmail account).
Is there any way to specify this as a preference in Mail.app on the iPad? Otherwise I have to remember to manually change the "from" address when I reply to an email sent to any of the accounts that forward to my Gmail account.

I've not heard of or experience any such issue.
Have you tried removing and readding the accounts in question?

How can I send from an Alias in Mail 3.5?
The "from" pop down menu doesn't list my 2 aliases? only my main .mac account
Thanks for any help anyone can provide!

As for what I think you are asking, re second paragraph, the answer is found in:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TA23485
Add the alias addresses in manually as you would always have done with those that were not .Mac.
You are correct that you cannot actually edit text wise, but you can activate or make an alias inactive, and add new ones in the online Preferences display, or enter full Name specifics -- that is what is meant in the preferences in Mail by "Edit".
You have installed the MobileMe panel into System Preferences, haven't you?

  • Sending from iCloud alias in Mail

I started using iCloud today and registered several aliases for different purposes. I would like to be able to send messages from these aliases with Mail on my MacBook. When I compose a message, I can choose to send it from one of the aliases, but then when I press Send it will take ages and eventually ask me to choose a different server to send it from ("Cannot send the message using the server iCloud (iCloud)"). I tried adding my aliases this way (support.apple.com/kb/ta23485) but it didn't make a difference.
Incidentally, when I try sending a message from one of my aliases with my iPad, it does send the message from the actual alias, however the name is displayed as my Apple ID name, not as the name I gave the alias....
Are these just temporary glitches? Or is there something in the settings I'm missing?

Use the OTHER option instead of iCloud or MobileMe. Use the alias as the email address.  Incoming mail server is mail.me.com. User name and password is your primary acct name. Outgoing server is smtp.mail.com.

  • Send from gmail via iCloud mail?

I have set up forwarding of my Gmail to iPad no problem. But is there anyway I can send a reply to an email I have received from this forwarding setup from my Gmail account via iCloud mail either by way of tweeking the smtp server settings or adding new ones. I see from the mail settings in the icloud section in iOS 5, these settings are greyed out so you can't amend them. Is there any other way this can be done?
    Thanks

Yep, exactly the same problem we are having, you managed to sum it up more neatly than I did compared to my long winded original post, lol.
Hopefully some tech messiah will be able to tell us of a way to make this happen? I hope anyhow, otherwise I won't use my iCloud mail at all.

Update:  I was able to have the correct photo show in my email as received on my iPad2 by changing a setting on my IMac prior to sending the photo on the email.
On the iMac, I went into iPhoto > Preferences > Email photos using > Mail (in lieu of "iPhoto").  This seems to have corrected the issue.  I'm not sure why.  Now the correct photo shows up when received on my iPad2.

  • Can't see some letters from my Gmail box in Mail.app in MAC OS 10.8.5.

Hello, can't see some letters from my Gmail box in Mail.app in MAC OS 10.8.5.

The solution was to remove all versions of Acrobat Pro and reinstall Acrobat Pro XI. I still had the download file in my Time Machine backup. That's a good thing, since the download link from the order listing on the Adobe website under my account would not work.
The problems don't occur with version 11.0.0. I got the work done, now I'm updating to 11.1.0 and will report if they came back.

On your iPhone you need to change your password in 2 places:
    - Incoming Mail Server and
    - Outgoing Mail Server
To get to the password entry for the Outgoing Mail Server you have to tap on cell smtp.live.com and again on the second view.

    Hello ike39
For issues with Mail, check out the first article below for general troubleshooting steps to get it working again. Also, is it archiving emails instead of deleting? Check out the second article to see if that is set properly.

  • GMAIL on Native Mail App

I set up my Google mail in native mail app as a Google mail account and everything worked for a couple weeks.  Now the mail app is only pulling mail from 2011 and older.  I set up my mailbox on a couple other collegues iphones and have the same issue.  I downloaded the Gmail app and checked Gmail through Safari on my phone and the account is fine.  The current email is in my inbox.  My desktop is the same.  The issue is just with the mail app on IOS 8 and it was working for 2 weeks with no issues.  I didnt make any changes.  HELP!

Not seeing the problem on either my iPhone 6 or iPad Air. Have you tried deleting the account in Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendar? It's a good first step in troubleshooting email issues. However, given that you've tried to set up the same account on other phones, it may not do any good. Are you using the default settings for Google when you set up the account?

  • Choose Mail sending default account in the Mail app.

There should be a option of choosing the mail account from which i need to send the mail everytime a send the mail and it prompts. its not like that i have to choose the default mail sending account in the settings before hand and then if i need to send the mail from a different account i need to go to settings to edit it. there should be a option of choosing it everytime i send the mail in the Mail app.

    Hi SubirMondal,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
You can tap the From field in the Mail app to send your email from a different email account:
Send a message from a different account. Tap the From field to choose an account.

  • HT2500 Can I import my contacts from Gmail into Apple mail (Snow Leopard)?

Can I import my contacts from Gmail into Apple mail (Snow Leopard)?

That says Reset Documents and Data, not Contacts.
I want you to go to www.icloud.com, login and see how many contacts are there, because they are all the iCloud contacts. Any contacts that are not there, are not on iCloud.

  • Sending from an alias - sbs2011

    Hi
I have a client with SBS2011 and Exchange.
He obviously has his user account
[email protected] - however we have a security group that accepts emails external called
[email protected] - This is used for Accounts emailing so banks etc...
Up until now everything has been fine with him receiving those Accounts emails as part of his membership to the Accounts security group.
Now he wants to be able to email from [email protected] is there anyway to enable this easily? Obviously I know I could set him up another mailbox, and then set up send as permissions which would do this, but then
he'd have 2 mailboxes to view... is this the only way or is there another way to do this?
    Thanks
    Tris

    Hi Tris,
you can try this as an alternative!
Create a distribution group and put the alias on the distribution group and configure it with send as permissions.
First we start with removing the alias we want to send as from the original mailbox.
Now we create a new distribution group, give it a logical name, I always give it the name of the email alias and set the alias as email address.
Then we add the original mailbox as only member.
Now we need to set the Send As permissions for the original mailbox ([email protected]) on the newly created distribution list. This cannot be done via the exchange management console, we have to use the exchange management shell.
This is the command syntax: Add-ADPermission “public folder name ” -ExtendedRights Send-As -user “Domain\Username”
Now you are able to send as [email protected] also with the [email protected] address.
We do this by using the From… field in outlook, add the alias in the from field when you want to send from the alias. When you don’t see the from field go to the options menu and choose Show From.
Best thing to do is click the From… button and select the alias distribution group from the address list.
    Regards
    Anil

  • Texts send from a 3G ipad "imessages" app could deliver to a normal cell phone?

Lost my iphone last month & planning to buy a ipad2 to instead as I just need the SMS message function but not phone conversation function.
So, could SMS send from a 3G ipad "imessages" app could deliver to a normal cell phone or a blackberry which doesn't have any iTune apps?

    hofai wrote:
What I want to know is doesn't ipad 3G could perform SMS function like an iphone?
The only answer anyone here could give you is, "because Apple didn't include that feature."  Submit your feedback directly to Apple requesting that feature using the appropriate link on the Feedback page:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback
You can also use one of the many texting applications found in the App Store. They work over data so they don't require a texting plan.
