Send grayed out

All of a sudden my send button is grayed out - for reply, new message, forward. Have done nothing new but can't send any messages. Any suggestions?
Connie

Go to the Window menu and choose Connection Doctor.
I suspect that your outgoing Mail servers may have a red status.
Double click on one and choose Advanced in the window that appears.
Try changing your port to 587.
Many internet service providers block port 25.
Change it to port 587 if it is showing green.
The green status just means you can contact the server and that if it does not require authentication, it can be green and still not work.

On a new mail message in Yosemite there is no Send button or icon.  Only a grayed out word that says "send.  I can receive mail but not send because nothing at top of email allows sending.  Please help.  This is true of two .me accounts I have.

    Hi,
It may pay to send a Screen Shot of the Connection Doctor info.  (see the Window Menu)
It would seem the IMAP or POP side is logged in bit the out going STMP server is not.

  • Send button grayed out

    Hi,
I went to respond to an email today in Apple's Mail program and am not able to send the email. I am using my mobileme account. Basically I hit "Reply", write my email, and the go to press "Send" but the button is grayed out and inactive. I have never experienced this before so I am a bit puzzled. Mail is receiving emails still and is saving drafts locally that are syncing online so it does not appear to be a connection issue.

OK...I believe I have resolved the issue. My Mobileme SMTP server info disappeared. What would cause this information to disappear overnight?

  • Sender option grayed out in IDOC Adapter PI 7.1

    Hi All,
I have heard of IDOC packaging in the PI 7.1 for which we need to create a sender channel in XI and sender agreement.
but the idoc adapter has the sender selection grayed out. Is there any other configuration which needs to be done.
    Rgds
    Aditya

    Hi,
yes you have missed something - exactly what i am not able to guess.........just check whether the SAP BASIS 7.10 component was correctly deployed in your PI 7.1 system because without EHP1 also, at least you should be able to configure sender IDOC adapter............
maybe you need to do the readiness check of your PI 7.1 system again.........try restarting your PI server completely and then check if there is any error in the startup logs.........if there is no error, then again try to configure sender IDOC comm channel in ID.

  • Grayed-out "Send" button

Yesterday I had no problems sending messages, but this morning when I tried to send an email, the "Send" button is grayed out, not allowing me to send any messages. I tried changing the recipient, but it's grayed out on any message that I try to send.
    Any ideas? Thanks.

    Probably an "offline" SMTP server.
Meaning under "accounts" pref in Mail. There is a server that is listed under "Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)" is probably listed as offline. If you click on it, the option to bring it back online should be presented.

  • Sending photos from iPhoto to FB the word "Publish" is grayed out.  How do I get it black again?, Sending photos from iPhoto to FB the word "Publish" is grayed out.  How do I get it black again?

I have been sending pics from my iPhoto to FaceBook for a long time.  Today I tried sending them from my iPhoto and after clicking FB a window comes up with the question Do you want to publish...........(whatever the pics are about)?  Then I choose the option of "everyone" "friends of friends" and "only friends".  After choosing my option I can then click on "publish" and the pics go to my profile page on FB, or they did until today...because the word "publish" is grayed out and won't allow me to send them.  Anyone got any suggestions why this got grayed out, and how can I fix it.
    Jimare.

Your problem is that you have been running a Referenced Library, and now you're trying to convert this to a Managed Library
A Managed Library, is the default setting, and iPhoto copies files into the iPhoto Library when Importing. The files are then stored in the Library package
A Referenced Library is when iPhoto is NOT copying the files into the iPhoto Library when importing because you made a change at iPhoto -> Preferences -> Advanced. (You unchecked the option to copy files into the Library on import) The files are then stored where ever you put them and not in the Library package. In this scenario you are responsible for the File Management.
Simply changing the setting in the Preferences will not do this. It just means that imports from here forward will be Managed. Those that were Referenced remain so.
Now, because you've moved the Referenced Files to the new disk, iPhoto cn't find them. So it throws the error message. This is one of the major reasons experience users recommend against Referenced Libraries.
No change you make at this point will have any effect. The Library will try and update and throw the errors.
    Options:
Let it run it's course and then fix it.
    Or
Give it up as a bad job, recover your Photos and start over from scratch.

  • When emailing from Contacts, Send button is grayed out

I'm using an iPhone 5s with iOS 8.2.
    Steps to reproduce:
    - Go to Contacts
    - Select a name
    - Where it lists their email address, press the email address
    - This opens a New Message.  The To: field will have the selected email address.  The Cc/Bcc, From will has my default email address.  NOTE:  This doesn't matter whether using Yahoo, Gmail, Earthlink, or an work Exchange email account.  Applies to ALL email accounts.
    - Type in a Subject
    - Type in a Message
    - The 'Send' button in the upper right remains grayed out
    - If you press 'Cancel' in the upper left, it will ask to Delete or Save Draft or Cancel.  Deleting Draft takes you to the Mailboxes window
    - If you press where the To: email address is, the email you are sending to will disappear and a Circle-Plus sign appears and you have to either type in the recipient again or use the plus sign which takes you back to the Contact list
I've checked settings, changed default email accounts, deleted email accounts and reloaded, but it is the same behavior.
    Is this a bug?

Yes, that's a bug. I've seen it as well.
Report the bug to Apple at http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

  • I can receive iMessage but not send from my ipad.  The send button is grayed out

The send button in IMessage is grayed out.  I can receive messages but not send them.

Most, if not all internet service providers block the use of SMTP servers that are outside of their network or not provided by the ISP being used for your internet connection at the time unless the SMTP server is authenticated.
Who are you using as your internet service provider at the time?
Does your ntlworld email account have an authenticated SMTP server.
I believe Yahoo does for a Yahoo account.

Help! Woke up this morning and "send" icon is grayed out on newly composed email but active on reply emails to received messages.  Ran permissions repair.  Don't really know what to do but extremely annoying (and weird).  Did not make any changes to systems.  Any advice gratefully accepted!

    Were they saved as drafts?
You should really update to the final version of Tiger 10.4.11:

  • Mail option "Send Windows-Friendly Attachments" is grayed-out

    I use Mail 4.2 under OS 10.6.2.
The option "Send Windows-Friendrly Attachments" is grayed-out.
Is there a reason for that?
Could that mean that it in non functional?
    Thanks for your help.

    Thanks!
I understand what you mean and that was the explanation that I gave myself, but without really knowing if I was right. Your explanation seems logical.
I was raising this point, because I have a problem sending attached ".jpg" photos to a friend in Europe (France) who uses Outlook under Windows Vista. He keeps telling me that I am at the origin of the problem, this problem being that he receives the attachment within the core of the text and that the file is in ".bmp" rather than ".jpg"!
Otherwise, I am not having the problem with others Windows users, who also use Outlook (under XP, Vista, or 7). They all receive the ".jpg" file as such and can open it by clicking twice on it, and also save it as such.
But I'm trying to see if I do something wrong before I try to convince this friend that the problem may be on his side. In which case, I also would like to help him in finding out what the problem is (but I'm not expert of the "dark side").

  • ICloud email won't send (it tries to send and then freezes, send button grayed out)

I can recieve email just fine. I can draft an email just fine. But it won't send.  When I hit the send button, the email window goes away and a message box appears and disappears so fast I can't read it.  The email window reapears with the "send" button grayed out.  Once this happens, I can't close the email window.  I have to quit mail.  When I open mail back up, the email will still be there and I can close it.  The send button is no longer grayed out, but if I hit send, the same thing happens (i.e., screen flashes and the send button is grayed out).
I've tried deleting the acouunt and reforming it.  Didn't help.  I checked to see that my outgoing server is "iCloud" and that it send on port 993 and the SSL check box is checked.
    Any ideas?

I'm having the exact same problem on one of my Macs but no the other.
Did you ever get this resolved?

  • Can't send text message--Send button "grayed out"

When texting about 70% of the time the send button is grayed out. I've checked to make sure the recipients phone # has the area code.
I have to retype the message several times and with no rhyme or reason that I can discern it's finally sendable. I've reset the phone
and sometimes that works. I called  the genious line and was told basically "it's a bug" --not a great answer. Same thing happened on my 3gs
    Any thoughts on the matter?

My iphone 4 does the same thing. I keep exiting text messages and then reopening and typing the first letter of my text to see if the send icon will whiten from the grey. Really a pain and waste of time. I thought I would look around here for a solution before making appt with the apple store.

  • Send button grayed out after Snow Leopard

Install was successful. I followed the instructions for changes to mail to enable sending and receiving. Did tests on all mail accounts and mail sent. Now, when I go to new message, the send button is grayed out and I can't proceed. Anyone have a fix?

    Ernie,
Not sure what happened as everything tested just fine after installation. But I did go back into preferences to find that the outgoing SMTP had switched to "none." I changed that and it now works. Thank you for your help.

  • IPad 4 Gen - Messages -  "Send" is grayed out.

All of a sudden the "Send" in Messages is grayed out. I have tried to restart and that hasn't worked. Anyone have any suggestions?

Make sure that you are not typing in the subject field. The best way to do that is to go to Settings>Messages>Show Subject Field>Off. Once you turn it off, you cannot accidentally type in it. Also make sure that you are trying to text with another iOS device user that is already registered and set up to use Messages on their device.
