Send Message from RMI Server to RMI Client

Hi,
I want to send message to RMI Client throw RMI server to refresh client's data object as it is database application. I guessed i could implement an interface on client side and i can register my client to the server by sending object to the server. It is not helping it is throwing NULL Pointer exception on server side and it is not refreshing. It seems like it is not passing by reference.
Can any one please guide me with how to send messages to clinet. What is the best way to do it?
-A Thakkar.

You need to elaborate the object model of your client. When you run into this situiation where you might have to sublass two different objects, then you should take a look at breaking the client itself into more than one object.
Let me put it another way: A JFrame is a GUI object; why would you ever try to callback a GUI object? Can't you create - say - a CallbackHandler, and let it initiate further action in the client?

  • Sending Files from a server to a client (PrintWriter)

I've only been using Java for a few months and this may be in the wrong forum (sorry if it is)... but I've run into a bit of a problem.
I've recently been asked to create Excel files using database records and output a file (HTML table) to a client's machine that is logged onto the web server. The thing is that we don't want to create (temporary) server files and just want to send the data straight to the client. For this, someone suggested using the HTTP Response PrintWriter. I'm having a couple of problems getting things working correctly:
    1) IOException: After committing the output stream to the client (eg pWriter.flush();) and trying to forward the user to a new page I'm getting an IOException saying that the "response cannot be forwarded once it is already committed". This is as per the Java 1.4 documentation, so OK... but is there any way around it? i.e. after sending the data to the client can I automatically send them to another page or refresh the current one?
    2) Loss of data: If the user does not save the file more or less as soon as the save/open dialogue appears on the screen, a lot of the data is being lost, with just ~150 out of 3000 records being sent to the client in the file. Any ideas why this might be? Presumably writing the data to a temporary file on the server then "copying" this over the PrintWriter to the client would solve this problem... but as stated above, we don't really want to be creating files in the clustered server environment (for some reason they don't usually seem to be getting deleted!?!)
Bit of Background Info: The records are being read from the database at 500 records per time, stored in an ArrayList in the pageFlow. The ArrayList is then "iterated" through and the Excel/HTML table row is created for each record in turn (using the pWriter.println() method). The PrintWriter is flushed and closed after the entire Excel file has been written to the PrintWriter. I then try and forward the user to the same page (i.e. refresh the page) so that the buttons are re-activated and some on-screen information is updated (this leads to problem (1)).
Also, I'm currently setting the Response Header property "Content-Disposition" to tell the client that the PrintWriter is sending an attachment (thus making the save/open dialogue box appear and a default filename being used), but I've noticed that this property is supposed to have been Depreciated some time ago... can anyone tell me what I should be using instead? The websites I've looked at don't seem to give me this info (maybe I'm just missing the obvious!?!)
Hope that all makes sense, any help appreciated!

    Have any sample code?

  • How to send communication message from application server to load balancer

    Hi,
Environment: 8 application servers are clustered behind a load balancer. Java/J2EE based client-server application
When any one of the servers is supposed to go down, I want to send a message from that server, programmatically, to load balancer something which signifies "server is down or going down, do not forward any client connections to me". This is to avoid any CLOSE_WAITs.
How do I achieve this? How can I send message programmatically from app server to load balancer? From very basic knowledge, SNMP can be used for this. But do not know how to start of. Any other means is also OK. Need details.
    Thanks
    Sunil

At the same time we stop accepting any new connections [ServerSocket.accept() will be escaped during server shutdown].Just close the ServerSocket.
Both these are working fine. But during the 25 seconds, still the client connections gets queued up trying to find that serverNot if you close the ServerSocket.
reason being the load balancer is still forwarding requests to this server whose shutdown has started but not completed. So CLOSE_WAITS happen. Not if you close the ServerSocket. Not that the CLOSE_WAITS are the actual problem, as they will all disappear when the server exits. It's more that the clients shouldn't have been able to create the connection in the first place. Which wouldn't have happened if you had closed the ServerSocket.
If we tell load balancer not to send any more client socket connections, then we completely avoid getting CLOSE_WAITS.If you close the ServerSocket ditto.

  • Sending a jms message from one server to another in a cluster fails..

    Hi,
My platform is wl6.1 sp7 two servers in a cluster...
I have problems sending jms messages from one server to the other. When sending to a destination on the same server it works fine, but sending to the other server do not work. I get no exceptions when I send the message. The "Monitor all Active JMS Destinations..."->"Messages Received" column increase number of received messages for the remote server. But the onMessage method in the bean is not called(I am logging all calls to a file...)

  • How to send message from Message Driven Bean  to JMS client?

In my project I have JMS client, two QueueConnectionFactory and Message Driven Bean. Client send message to MDB through the first QueueConnectionFactory , in one's turn MDB send message to client through the second Queue Connection Factory . I already config my Sun AppServer for sending message in one way, and sending message from MDB to the second QueueConnectionFactory. But on my Client there is an error : JNDI lookup failed: javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: No object bound to name java:comp/env/jms/MyQueue2 (jms/MyQueue2 this is the name of my Queue). So it couldn't get this message.
    P.S.
    Thank you for help!!!

What is the name of the second queue?is the connection factory on the local?Yes the connection factory is on the local. The name of my first queue is jms/MYQueue and the name of another one is jms/MyQueue2.

  • Deleting Messages from Pop Server

I downloaded the new software and now my phone is deleting messages from the server when I delete the message from my phone. I checked the phone settings and it was set on "never" under deleting from server. Is this a bug in the new software. Is there a fix?

    Wjosten,
    Thanks for your continued responses.
How old is the info you got regarding Earthlink settings? I went through both my account settings, and my Webmail settings, and could not find the exact settings below. In fact, this seems to be more of a setting when you set up a desktop mail client (e.g. Part of Outlook setup). See here for an example: http://support.earthlink.net/articles/email/setting-up-outlook-2007-to-send-and- receive-email.php (it is on the last screenshot)
Regardless, I only use the webmail, and I thought that if I delete mail on the iPhone, then the setting on the iPhone to delete mail from the server should do that.
Any thoughts on whether there is something buggy with the iPhone? I had another strange iPhone problem which was fixed by deleting the acccount, logging into Gmail and recreating the account. The problem was that Gmail on the iPhone would let me send new mail, but if I tried to Reply to a message, it would not work and the error was that there was no password!

  • "Cannot send message using the server....."

    Hi all,
Considering the nature of the problem I am about to relate I would have to say at the outset that I would be very very surprised if other people have not come across this problem, so here goes...
We have around 60 users of Apple Mail from both 10.4 and 10.5, so varying degrees of versions of Apple Mail however most if not all are updated to 10.4.11 and 10.5.2.
We have been plagued with people being frustrated about emails bouncing back with an immediate error which is basically the following...
"Cannot send message using the server smtp.xxx.com:user
Sending the message content to the server failed.
Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below etc etc"
I am sure a lot of you have seen this error.
However, it is totally random but I am at the end of my tether with it. It generally revolves around emails with attachments and can be totally random. I was trying to send a screenshot today, very small screenshot, using the Apple-Shift-4 technique, sent the .png file, then saved it out as a .jpg, nothing. Tiny file, around 5k. Got the error above, took it out, sent no problem. Other similar files on the desktop refused to send but a .pdf did. I then thought it might be our server, so sent teh same attachments using my .mac account. Same result and failed to send. Reports from other users in our group show that they too get random results, maybe moving the attachment in the email makes it go, sometimes putting it before your signature, sometimes putting your signature copied and pasted in so many times makes it work, all sorts of methods but all resulting in the same conclusion, Apple Mail can be very unreliable.
We have even migrated some users to Entourage and the problem disappears. Even to Thunderbird, but those users miss the search capability as it is quicker and more reliable. So they want to go back.
Considering I have been struggling with this issue back in the day when we were on the Apple Mail related version in 10.4 I was hoping that the version released in 10.5 would remedy the problems. Sometimes I feel it has just got worse.
Is anyone else experiencing this sort of difficulty in Apple Mail, I really feel isolated and at a loss with how to remedy this for so many users.
If anyone can share their experiences and how they have got around similar issues in Mail I am all ears and open to any suggestions.
Thanks everyone for taking the time to read through this. There is more but the experiences are so random it is not worth trying to put it all down.
    Thanks again.
    Gerry McCoy

I went in to Connection Doctor and. oddly enough, for this Mac account it said I was on Port 25. Si I changed it to Port 587 and saved the changes.
Still, I have the same problem with the same error messages.
I go back to the mail preferences > Accounts > Advanced and it shows Port 143 still there grayed out.
What about SSL - it's not checked.
Odd that this problem only seems to be from one .mac account emailing to another .mac account. Could the server be down?

  • Cannot send message using the server (null)

    i use mail 2.1.
i have a .mac account and have three other email accounts attached to my mail account.
lately, i cannot send any email.
the switchiing ports fix hasn't helped either.
    this is the error message:
CANNOT SEND MESSAGE USING THE SERVER (null)
The server response was: 5.1.0 <email [email protected]>...
From address does not match authentication.
Use the pop-up menu below to try a different outgoing mail server. All messages will use this server until you quit Mail or change your network settings.
    Message from: email <[email protected]>
Send message using: [there is a combo box here with all the four accounts servers listed]
no matter which one i pick it doesn't work and no email is sent.
anyone have this error before? or now how to fix it?
    i'd be appreciative.
    thanks
1.67 GHz Power PC PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   Sony HDR HC3 HD HandyCam MiniDV

I was having a similar problem (don't feel like typing all the details)
I was about to to delete my com.apple.mail.plist, when finally it hit me.
I ran ethereal (again, I'm sorry, but learning how to use ethereal is a topic unto itself). Following the TCP stream (ie. looking at the smtp messages being sent back and forth) I came across two problems. For some reason my port number was set to 567 or something like that, when it's supposed to be 25, as I had originally set it to.
Once I corrected the port number I started receiving an error message from the smtp server. It said the return email address could not be authenticated. (using xyz.com as an example) The correct return email address was supposed to be [email protected], but for some reason it was changed to john@xyz in the account settings.
Anyway, to get to the point, another thing to check is that your return address has been set correctly, and if all else fails, make sure you have X11 installed and use fink to install and run ethereal. This will let you know if you are actually connecting to the server, and will show you any error messages.
PS. I think this problem started occurring with the last update made to mail. I believe it somehow corrupted my settings. This would explain how my port number could have been changed to the default port number of .mac mail.

  • "Cannot Send Message" from Verizon to Hotmail

I see by reading this board that many others have problems with Verizon e-mail accounts.
When I try to send e-mails from my Verizon account into my Hotmail mailbox using an iMac, I get this message every time: "Cannot send message using the server e-mail."  The only thing it is letting me do is send an e-mail from one Verizon folder into another. It won't let me go from Verizon into Hotmail.
I  checked with Apple tech support, and their claim is that Verizon is for some reason blocking the outgoing e-mail into MSN/Hotmail.
I checked out the options under 'Advanced Account Info' but am not tech-savvy enough to understand what I am looking at, and the bottom section tells me to get advice from a systems administrator. Could anyone tell me the best way to go about getting this advice?
    Thanks.

  • OSX Mail - Cannot send message using the server ....

    Hi there,
    Mac Pro with OSX 10.6.
*Can receive mail, but can no longer send email* using the program Mail.
Been getting the popup "Cannot send message using the server [shawmail.vc.shawcable.net] for the past 3 days. I hadn't changed anything about my computer, and have had the Mac for 2+ years. So this just started doing it on it's own.
I had a technical support guy from my service provider even interface with my computer, where he could see my desktop right over the internet, and he couldn't get it fixed either.
I googled this problem, and found solutions like:
    1. Uncheck "Use SSL" (Done that, and it was never checked "on" to begin with)
    2. Make sure Authentication is set to none, with no password (done that, and it wasn't set with a password to begin with)
    3. Delete [user]/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist (done that, didn't do anything)
    4. We even totally deleted my account, and started a new fresh one. Didn't work
The tech support guy did show me a way to email online, using the same email account. That worked, but it's a hassle to go onto a web-based email program -- it's not my preference. So, with great certainty, it's not my service provider, because I was able to send emails on this web-based email program using my email account.
    So there, I'm stumped.
Hopefully someone can help. What's bizarre is that googling this problem, I have found many other people that say it happens arbitrarily, out of nowhere.

I can't believe how ridiculous this issue is. i have been searching for days for a solution to this. i have tried EVERY recommendation on these forums and nothing works. It appears that this issue dates back to TIGER. I had this problem back in January and just bagged figuring it had something to do with iweb. I bought a new html program and was able to send out my newsletter last month no problem. Suddenly, one month later- here i am again, unable to send out my newsletter with no help from Apple or verizon, or these forims, or anyone else. To think that a company that I have stood behind and loved so much can't be be bothered fixing such a simple issue that has been going on now through  5 OS's (I am using Lion but I had the issue using leopard as well)  is a disgrace.

  • Mail with multiple gmail accounts sending messages from wrong email, other than the one i select

mail with multiple gmail accounts sending messages from wrong email, other than the one i select:
i'm using mail on osx 10.7 with multiple gmail accounts. when i create an email, i check to be sure i'm sending/replying from the correct account. after i send it, somehow it actually sends it from a different account, other than the one i've selected "from." this is evidenced by the reply email i receive. how can i fix this?
in preferences, i have "send new messages from : account of selected mailbox"

From the Mail menu bar, select
              Mail ▹ Preferences...
The Mail preference dialog opens. Select the Composing tab from the row of icons at the top. From the menu labeled
              Send new messages from:
    choose
              Account of selected mailbox
Note that this setting may have no effect if you start a new message while a VIP or smart mailbox is selected in the mailbox list. Those are saved searches, not actual mailboxes.
If the problem remains, select the Accounts tab in the preference dialog, then select the affected account in the list on the left.
In the Account Information pane, select the correct server in the menu labeled
              Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
If there's only one server in the menu, select
              Edit SMTP Server List...
and add a new server with the correct settings. If you're not sure how to do that, try the Mail Settings Lookup.
Another possibility is that the wrong card in your address book is selected as yours. Select your card in the Contacts application. Then select
Card ▹ Make This My Card

  • SOAP Receiver- Error While Sending Message: 500 Internal Server Error

    Hello,
    Our scenario: IDoc to SOAP
I have added a third party system in the SLD and have used the same in my ID configuration.
An idoc will be triggered from R/3, which will received in PI, PI will transform the IDoc into SOAP message for the third party system.
I have tested the scenario in ID from Interface Determination and its successful.
But when i try to try to test it from RWB, using Test Message in Adapter Engine, I get an error,
"Error while sending message:500 Internal server error"
If we test it using a testing software like SOAP UI, it works fine but from PI we get the error mentioned above.
    Regards,
    Abhishek

    Hello,
Since the IDOC adapter resides on the ABAP stack, you can use this URL instead (it will be sent to the integration engine as Venkata suggested)
    http://host:port/sap/xi/engine?type=entry
Also check your firewall settings from PI to the third-party system.
    Hope this helps,
