[email protected] - how to find domain name
Exactly. You cannot simply send a SMS as an e-mail. The mail (SMTP) server needs to have a plug-in of sorts that enables it to forward a specially formatted e-mail it receives as an SMS.
More then a decade ago, some cellular providers provided such mail servers - allowing you to specify the cellular number as either the recipient address or as the e-mail subject, with the body containing the actual SMS message.
Due to this feature being abused and the cost of SMS transport being unrecoverable, this (as a public feature) has long since been discontinued by most, if not all, cellular network providers.
So no, there is no magic domain(s) you can use to (spam) mobile numbers with SMS.
If you want a SMS solution, you need to talk to a cellular provider about the products they have for 3rd party SMS integration.
Alternatively, you need to use a dedicated cellphone, hooked up via USB/Bluetooth to a server, and use that as your SMS transport mechanism.

Try Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
If that does not resolve, SMS is a carrier feature, contact the carrier.

• Unable to send SMS

I've lost the capability to send SMS messages. It's always switching to MMS mode even if I've set it up to always send text-only message as SMS. The SMS settings in Text Messaging -> Options is also gone. I used to be able to send SMS. I've done soft and hard reset but the problem persists. Please help. How can I get the SMS settings back in Text Messaging -> Options screen?
Thanks.

Hey redj28,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Thanks for the question.
I would first suggest removing the battery and placing it back in. Then try to send an SMS message. When was the last time you were able to send an SMS message? Did you do any changes to your account?
I look forward to your reply.
Cheers.

Having horrible service with 4GLTE I have had 3G for several weeks (I am not the only person I know having this problem), I have reset my network settings and it did not resolve the issue. I am also unable to send SMS and text messages without them either failing or not sending at all. Is there an outage in the Cleveland, Ohio area (zip codes 44129, 44134, 44137) or anything else I can do to resolve this issue?

Not that I'm a Verizon employee, but I have experience in the field. An LTE tower will only extend up to, on a perfect day, with no elevation, 6-7 miles. On a typical day, you will be lucky at four (4) miles. The three ZIP codes you've given are all within about a 12 mile radius. That would mean that 2-3 towers are currently down at the same time, and Verizon would know about it within the hour. Being it's Cleveland, I'm sure they would receive numerous calls regarding an outage of that size.
My point is that if you're having issues in all three ZIP codes, chances are it's a phone issue. If you're handset is simply not receiving LTE, but still receiving 3G, that would signify a SIM card issue. You need to get your SIM card replaced.

What does "can't easily send SMS" mean? What problems are you having with SMS? Without details, no one could possibly give you a reason or solutions.
Have you tried resetting your device by pressing and holding the Home button and power button until the silver apple appears?

• How can I send SMS from email through iMS5.2

there is a way for sending SMS through iMS5.2 but i do not know how?Is there any need for SMPP server or any gateway for sending SMS.I know about the rewrite rule to be include in imta.cnf file but I want to know the steps for configuring the iMS5.2 for sending SMS.is there any SMPP server(SMSC) that needs to be separately installed

IMS 5.2 supports one way SMS, however, you must have access to the SMSC's SMPP server. The server must support SMPP V3.4 over TCP/IP and there must be TCP/IP connectivity between the host running iMS and the SMPP server.
You also have to configure a SMS channel in iMS, then it is merely a matter of sending a mail message to the address associated with that channel.
The documentation for how to do that can be found at http://docs.iplanet.com/docs/manuals/messaging/technotes/5.2sms.html which is reached from the "related links" at the bottom of the messaging documentation web site http://docs.iplanet.com/docs/manuals/messaging.html#related, and then select "Technical Notes and Examples". Note SMS is supported, the doc just didn't make it into the regular set.

• How do I send SMS only at ALL TIMES with an iPhone to ALL contacts? My family shares iPads under my ID and now my teenager gets all my business texts!

How do I send SMS only at ALL TIMES with an iPhone to ALL contacts? iOS 8 now forces all Apple users to use iMessage all the time with all other iOS users. The option to send as SMS only is subordinate to iMessage in iOS 8 settings and CANNOT be turned off to send only SMS texts to another iOS device! This is a serious privacy issue for all households using iOS and doing family sharing, including over a number of iOS devices, under one member's Apple ID. Why should business conversations or financial conversations between parents be readable on an iPad in the hands of a teenager or a seven year old? The answer is not as simple as "Just don't enable iMessage on your other devices," because amy family that shares the Apple ID password is vulnerable to teenagers particularly hacking into iMessage to monitor, for example, what their parents are saying. If I were Samsung or Google I would hammer this issue immediately and continually until it is fixed by Apple (and I'm not sure why they haven't yet). iMessage is a convenience but it has this serious limitation given the architecture of the Apple universe. Apple simply cannot force all its users to conduct text messaging in arbitrarily limited way, any more than it was able to force all its users to switch from Google Maps. When will Apple fix this?

Trademann wrote:
Fox, that does not work, because then you are blocked from sending any form of message to another Apple user. iMessage MUST be activated to text any other iOS device. And then Apple defaults by ALWAYS using iMessage between iOS devices.There is simply no way, within iOS 8, to send SMS only to another Apple user. Apple has made that impossible.
The SMS-only choice used to be on the same menu level as iMessage, but now it is locked WITHIN iMessage, and is not available as a choice unless iMessage is activated. Then it is limited solely to being used if iMessage is not available.
I'm sure their argument is that they are saving their customers money because iMessage is free, but they are imposing an opportunity cost on 100 percent of their user base in the guise of saving that money. What they are really doing is entrapping faithful users such as myself further within the Apple ecosystem. If I hadn't already spent thousands of dollars on my iTunes library I might consider a Galaxy ... Samsung does not deserve to regain any momentum if they can't figure out how to exploit this.
Turning off iMessage does not prevent you from sending messages to other Apple users. You can send an SMS to any iPhone without your own iMessage turned on, even if it is turned on on their iPhone.
The SMS-only option is: Turn off iMessage. Literally. That's it.

Hey there Dale1462,
I am sorry for the issues you are having with your Lumia over in the Phillipines. I understand that cost is a concern, so I absolutely understand why you would use a local carrier sim card while in the Phillipines.
I am unable to troubleshoot any issues that you are having while on another carriers network. Did you have the sim card unlocked by our Global Support team?
If not, please reach out to our Global Support team at 800-711-8300 to do so.
Let me know if you need additional assistance.

I haven't gotten a new sim card because the problem has been presenting itself in various cards not only mine. So far, all I've done is reset my network settings.
Last night, I turned off the 3G tab and it had all the signal bars. Today, I did the network reset and it's working apparently. But like I said before, previously the bars just disappear and the iphone only has the 3G activated.

Hallo,
Possible Error Sources
● The database is not running, or the database URL is incorrect
-> The problem can be solved using the Visual Administrator or by a manual modification of the data-sources.xml file
● Wrong user or password parameters
-> The problem can be solved via the Visual Administrator or by a manual modification of the data-sources.xml file.
● Maximum count of simultaneous connections to the database has been reached
-> To increase the maximum number of opened connections and/or the time to wait for a new connection you should change the DataSource properties in the Visual Administrator or manually modify of the data-sources.xml file.
● Problem with connection sharing if J2EE transaction is running
-> The problem is caused while in an active JTA transaction there is an inappropriate attempt to open a second connection. There is either an attempt to get a second connection from an un-shareable non-XA DataSource, or an attempt to get it from another non-XA DataSource.

• Issue while sending SMS from JavaMail in languages like Russian & Japanese

Hi,
We have a requirement to send multi lingual SMS to users mobile number.
We are using JavaMail API for this. The only changes we have done to send SMS (instead of EMAIL) using a standard JavaMail code are –
1) Use the suffix @sms after the mobile number. For eg: 919923456789@sms.<domain>.com.
2) Use “text/plain” instead of “text/html” while setting the content type.
The SMS is sent fine for English and French but we get junk characters for languages like Japanese and Russian even on phones which support these languages.
Could anyone please advice on the below points –
1) Is this a limitation with respect to JavaMail? If yes, is there any other api that can be used?
2) Does some setting needs to be done in the SMS gateway to enable sending SMS in Japanese and Russian?
3) Does some setting needs to be done in the mobile phone to receive SMS in Japanese and Russian?
Any help on this issue will be appreciated.
Thanks and Regards,
Jacob

Thanks for your replies...... Please find below the code snippet where I am setting the encoding.....Could you please confirm if this is the correct way?
String subject = "Статус последнего обновления";
String body = "Статус последнего обновления";
*//Both 'body' and 'subject' are set as the russian translation of 'Status last updated'.*
MimeMessage msg = new MimeMessage(mailSession);
msg.setHeader("Content-Type", "text/plain; charset=UTF-16");
msg.setSubject(subject, "UTF-16");
msg.setText(body, "UTF-16");
I tried this but still not getting correct text. If I try with "UTF-16BE"/"UTF-16LE", then I do not get an SMS at all. I have tried with UTF-8 as well.
Does it matter if I change the phone language before/after I receive the message in a language different from the currently set phone language?
I am based out of India and am trying to send these messages to some of my colleagues who are all using Indian service providers. I have tried this on phones which have Russian as a language option.

• Can't send SMS from iPhone 4, iOS 5.0.1

Hello! I have an iPhone 4 with iOS 5.0.1 simfree. I can recieve sms but I can't send one. It seems like there are issues with imessage, 'cause it says "waiting for activation" and doesn't offer me use my phone number to send sms via, but only my e-mail. I suppose it's a bug of ios version, right? If not, then what can I do? How can I make sms sending fuction working? All the options like "send sms", "send mms" are on. I have tried to reboot the iOS and restore it - doesn't help.

I suppose it's a bug of ios version, right?
Wrong.
If not, then what can I do?
To start, you could post some useful info such as your carrier and location. Do you have SMS/MMS enabled on your plan with your carrier? Did you contact them to check?
