Send solman alerts as SNMP traps?

We want to send solman alerts as SNMP traps to an external monitoring solution.
Can someone please provide info on how to do it?
Thanks

Hello Prasad,
a search for SNMP in the Online Documentation returns [Sending and Receiving Alerts Using SNMP Traps|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp1/helpdata/en/ff/0620fbf6a404479d48b9e24552f770/frameset.htm].

  • Sending alerts as SNMP-Traps from Solman to Nagios

    Hi!
we would like to set up the alerting structure for sending the alerts as SNMP-Traps from Solman to Nagios.
    The questions:
    1) Is such integration possible? If yes, how complexe?
    2) What are the technical steps to perform in order to realize these steps?
    3) What are the steps to perform on Nagios server?
    Thank you very much!

  • SolMan 7.1 Alerts to SNMP traps

    Hi all,
We will start the process of implement SolMan 7.1 and with this we will migrate all the alerting that we have in SolMan/CCMS 7.0 using CCMS autoreactions methods to the new Alert infrastructre provided in SolMan 7.1. It is my understanding that in SolMan 7.1 only emails are sent in case of alerts.
Has somebody configured SolMan 7.1 alerting with SNMP traps?
It is my undestanding that there is some kind of custom development required for this.
Please help me to understand the effort and any tips
    Thanks,
    Zareh

    Hello Karthik,
You only need an ABAP developer, if you want to use a custom BADI.
But instead you can also use the "standard" SNMP configuration.
    see HOW-To guide:
    Description: see page 8
    3.2 [SAP-Standard] usage
Starting with Solution Manager 7.10 SP06, a [SAP-Standard] BAdI implementation is shipped:
    Configuration: see page 15
    4 [SAP-STANDARD] SNMP CONFIGURATION
As of Solution Manager 7.10 SP06, a dedicated User Interface has been implemented to configure the SNMP Traps.
Make sure in transaction SICF that the service “mai_snmp_trap_config” is active.

  • CCMS agents, alert monitoring, SNMP traps

    Hi Guys,
I have a question. There is a requirement about monitoring. Any documenation or links will be really appreciated.
My client needs me to use CCMS agents, alert monitoring for both ABAP and JAVA stacks, SNMP traps, sending SNMP traps, interface CCMS with third party monitoring tools. Mostly, the ,monitoring is done thru RZ20.
Anybody can point me in right direction or material.
    Thanks

  • 3750 sw is not sending SSH login failure SNMP trap

    Hi experts,
I want to make my switch send trap when failed SSH login is detected. I found the "login Enhancement" feature and enabled the trap and logging for the failed attempt.
3750# sh run | in login
    aaa authentication login default local
    login delay 1
    login on-failure
    3750# sh login
A login delay of 1 seconds is applied.
No Quiet-Mode access list has been configured.
All failed login is logged and generate SNMP traps.
Router NOT enabled to watch for login Attacks
Then I enabled all the traps except the one for the syslog (because I don't want all the log messages are sent as SNMP traps...)
    (config)# snmp-server enable traps
(config)# no snmp-server enable traps syslog
    (config)# snmp-server host 10.1.1.1 mysnmpkey
Now when I try to login with incorrect password I do see the log but I don't receive the trap...
Nov 23 12:39:27: %SEC_LOGIN-4-LOGIN_FAILED: Login failed [user: admin] [Source: 10.1.1.1] [localport: 22] [Reason: Login Authentication Failed] at 12:39:27 EST Wed Nov 23 2011
Of course when I enable the "syslog" trap I see something but that's more just for this log message
    Any idea why??
    My 3750-24TS-E is running
Cisco IOS Software, C3750 Software (C3750-IPSERVICESK9-M), Version 12.2(55)SE3, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)
    Thanks!

Hey Smitesh thanks for the reply. However my switch doesn't support the aaa_server trap...
    #snmp-server enable traps ?
      auth-framework    Enable SNMP CISCO-AUTH-FRAMEWORK-MIB traps
      bgp               Enable BGP traps
Mine is a 3750 switch. Is this command for routers?

  • Snmp-traps alerts on WSA

    Hi
Is there any way to send the alert with snmp trap instead of SMTP message?
    Regards
    Greg

Is there any way to send the alert with snmp trap instead of SMTP message?
Unfortunately today the SNMP support on the S-series is fairly limited - and traps are one of the things which is missing.
The good news is that we're fixing this, and the next version of AsyncOS for the S-series will have much better SNMP support, including traps.
So for the moment you're stuck with using either email messages or Syslog - but you shouldn't have to wait too long for SNMP traps!

  • No SNMP traps from sun x4150 ILOM server

    Hi all,
I have set up the ILOM alerts with SNMP traps (v2c,public) according to the ILOM user guide and pressed the "send test alerts". Nothing shows up in the SNMP trap monitor (using MG-SOFT software). When I add another alert of IPMI pet type (same destination ip as of SNMP trap alert) I see events in the trap monitor. It looks like the ILOM does not generate SNMP traps but only IPMI traps.
In the ILOM user guide there is an explicit example of traps sent from the ILOM (in addition to the fact that the ILOM features include SNMP traps AS WELL as IPMI) so it seems this is possible...
    my ILOM version is
    SP Firmware Version     2.0.2.6
Does anyone have any idea of any step I have missed ?
    Thanks in advance.
    Lior

Once the Network Device (Linux server in this case) is discovered you will still need a rule that targets that class and accepts incoming SNMP Traps for that OID, or All OIDs if you prefer.  I found 2 links that may be of help, the first is just a basic
overview of the SNMP listener in SCOM 2012 as it has changed from the OS Listener in 2007 to a dedicated one.
    http://systemcentertech.com/2012/05/17/scom-2012-built-in-snmp-trap-listener/
The second link covers SNMP setup, but starting at Step 7 there is a great how-to on creating your own SNMP rule which will be needed to collect your traps.

  • SCOM receiving SNMP traps from HP IMC

    Hi all,
I've been tasked with creating SCOM alerts from SNMP traps which are forwarded from HP IMC. Each SNMP trap will arrive at SCOM from a single source (IMC server) but each will contain different information. Can someone suggest the best way for me to generate
individual alerts from this? I'd also appreciate any comments on alternative ways to do this (apart from simply using both systems separately!).
    The environment is SCOM 2007 R2 on a 2003 R2 server.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

    Hi
This comes up on the forums quite often so here are a summary of some of the best articles I’ve found on the net:
    Configuring using the GUI:
The System Center Central team have a great series –
    Part I,
    Part II,
    Part III, and
    Part IV
David Allen has a good walkthrough here about creating
    SNMP Probe based monitors.
Issues with using the GUI to create monitors with numeric expressions – see Raphael Burri’s
    blog
SNMPVarBinds and the Alert Description Field –
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/rslaten/archive/2007/10/31/snmpvarbinds-and-the-alert-description-field-in-opsmgr-2007.aspx
    oring Console:
Kris Bash at Operating Quadrant has some great articles on SNMP monitoring.
The only thing to be careful of before investing too much time in customisation for network devices on SCOM 2007 R2 is that when you move to SCOM 2012, you might well need to redo them as network monitoring has changed.

  • Cisco Prime SNMP Traps Best Pratice

The Cisco Prime documentation recommends configuring switches to send SNMP traps. However it does not give any more details.
I was wondering what sorts of SNMP traps people in the community are using with Cisco Prime 2.1. I'm looking for some sort of best practice or for an idea of what traps would be the most useful to configure on the switches, to send to Prime.

    Hi ,
Snmp traps need to be configured only on device end , there is no config need to be done on PI.
you can enable all the traps that you want.  for e.g
    snmp-server enable traps syslog
snmp-server enable traps ipsec start stop
    snmp-server enable traps memory-threshold
    snmp-server enable traps interface-threshold
    snmp-server enable traps connection-limit-reached
snmp-server enable traps cpu threshold rising
    etc......
and you can monitor then in PI (Administration > System Settings > Severity Configuration, Link down)
check the below link as well:

  • ACE and ANM, Syslog and SNMP Traps

    Hi guys.. another ACE/ANM question.
I configured the ACE devices to send Syslog and SNMP messages to the ANM server. But i got a couple of questions:
Whats the difference between using the:
logging history 4 (this would send logging messages as SNMP traps according to doc)
    And:
    snmp-server host x.x.x.x traps version 2c public
    snmp-server trap-source vlan 1000
This of course I think should do the same..
The funny and weird thing, in the ANM Event viewer, I can only see syslog messages, not one snmp event.
    Thanks!
    Omar
    PS: ACE ver A2.4
          ANM Ver 4.2

    Hi Omar,
Let's see if I can clarify your questions.
As you mentioned, the "logging history 4" command specifies that, syslog messages of severity 4 and higher will be sent as SNMP traps. After you configure it, you need the "snmp-server host x.x.x.x traps version 2c public" command to specify what will be the destination IP and SNMP community for these traps.
It would only make sense to use the "logging history 4" command if your monitoring application doesn't support receiving syslog messages. However, since ANM is able to get syslog messages from the ACE without issues, I would just configure a destination for syslog message instead (with "logging host x.x.x.x")
I hope this makes this point more clear.
Now, moving on to why you are not seeing any SNMP traps in your ANM, the first things you would need to check are:
-- Did you enable traps? You would use the "ACE(config)# snmp-server enable traps" command for this
-- Are traps being sent? You can use the "show snmp" command and check if the "Trap PDUs" counter increases
-- Is ANM getting these traps? This is the most complicated step. For this, I would recommend getting a traffic capture on the ANM server (if it's installed on linux) or as close as possible to it if it's a ANM appliance
    I hope this helps

  • Syslog & SNMP Traps:- Does LMS 3.1 need to receive both?

Do my switches need to send both syslog and SNMP traps to LMS 3.1 or should I configure for either syslog or SNMP Traps, but not both?
    Thanks
    James

    Well "needs to", no
    Syslog
RME configuration management works better if it can detect config changes via syslog.
The syslog reports depend on it, so do the "automated actions" since they are based on syslog messages
    Traps
Fault management can interpret a few traps but does most of its detecting via snmp get.
LMS will work without it but I think it is worthwhile to configure the devices to send traps and syslog.
    Cheers,
    Michel

  • BPMon: Send BPMon alerts to third party tool through SNMP traps

    Hi All,
In our environment the preferred ticketing tool for raising tickets is a CA tool. I have managed to integrate system monitoring on Solution Manager with this third party tool using SNMP traps. Essentially when a system monitoring alert is raised in the alert inbox of solution manager, ticket gets raised in the CA tool.
I want the same integration with BPMon alerts. Whenever a BPMon alert is raised, I want to send an SNMP trap to the CA ticketing tool.
Can someone please guide me to the correct configuration guide or how its done.

  • SolMan and SNMP traps?

    Hi experts,
I'm searching some information about the possebilities with SolMan and SNMP traps.
I know that it is possible to send SNMP traps from SolMan to e.g. an external monitoring tool, to send alert information (CCMS/RZ20) to this monitoring tool.
But is it possibel to recieve SNMP traps in SolMan and e.g. create Service Desk tickets out of them?
    Thanks
    Thomas

    Thomas,
Can you please share your experience about sending SNMP traps to solution manager? I am trying to find information on how to configure Solution Manager for receiving the SNMP traps. Please guide me on this.

  • Sending as SNMP trap

    Hello expert,
Currently my SolMan system serve as central ccms monitoring, some of the alerts are sending email alert as auto reaction method.
But recently there is request to send the alert to 3rd party non SAP monitoring tool. I am thinking of SNMP traps. but question is each MTE can only have 1 auto reaction method, if i change it to use SNMP traps, so my exisitng email alert is not able to working parallel?
    please advise.
