Send text email to mailing lists?

I normally send my email out formatted as html. So, I have my preferences set to do so and to format my reply in the manner in which it was sent to me. So far, so good. Is there a way so that when I want to create a new email to a mailing list that is in my address book, that it is automatically formatted as text rather than html? I would hate to have to switch back and forth to turn it off and on in preferences AND, of course, I know I will forget to do so and get myself "in trouble." So, is there a way to do this easily or set a preference for a certain recipient or group?

no. there is no such capability in Mail (or any other email client AFAIK). you have to change the settings by hand.

Hi, thanks for the answer, I did that already. Unfortunatly this doesn't help me at all, as I often forget to check the menu. For me composing the message is writing the text, the subject, the person to who is addressed and than press "send".
I often forget to check the "from", and this is a problem because the software select itself one of the accounts.
Isn't there a way at least to put as a default a blank field instead of one of the accounts? or an account which doesn't work so if I forget to specify the "from" I will be rnotofied that the message can't be sent.
I guess this could be a rather common problem for many people!

Trying to send out email to a list

When I try to send an email to a list -- which I many, many times -- I get message "login to server outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net failed" so I have not been able to send out my email to list. Help!

check SMTP server settings
Tools > Account Settings > Outgoing Server (SMTP)
* Outgoing SMTP server name: outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net
* Port: 465
* Connection Security: SSL/TLS
* Authentication method: Normal password

Was that the full and total error message? Was there is a bit more info.
Can you send a single email on it's own? Is it only when you want to send a list?
Tell me about this 'list':
Have you created a 'Mailing List' as a sub list of an address book - are you using this 'list'?
or do you just add a load of email addresses into Bcc fields?
Is at least one of those in a TO filed?

There seems to be a few bugs with iCloud Mail at times, so send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

i have a workflow in which a user can attach a RAW-document to the task. there he puts in a text.
now i want to put that text in an email in the next step of the workflow.
but how can i manage to get the text in my emal ???

Actually you are unfirendly in requesting an answer.
1) Anyways for reading each of the attachment there have to be a background job to read the content of the attachment and then either pass data into a table and then into the email step mail content.
Or use the content and use mail send FM in SAP FM 'SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1'
2) How to read each of the attachment content is below:
To read all the attahchments in WI and to find the document id use FM SAP_WAPI_READ_CONTAINER
Then Use FM - SO_DOCUMENT_READ_API1...... and Read the document content for the doc using doc id from previous FM
U can get the exact content in the message and can use it accordingly

Sending Duplicate emails using Mail and mBox for mac

I have been sending duplicate emails inadvertantly recently. It seems it's when I use mBox for mac (registered copy) in Mail to use my Hotmail with IMAP.
I hadn't noticed it at first, but now I see everytime I send a mail I get 2 copies in my sent box. I can turn off the store sent messages on server option to fix it (but that's the whole point of having IMAP!!), or I can turn off mBox for mac and it also seems to work (but then I can't use IMAP!).    I've also tried on the same machine from gmail, and iCloud accounts (MobileMe), and I had no issue at all. I've also tried 2 different Hotmail accounts, and both of them send double messages every time I send.
I've searched for a loooooong time, and can't find anyone with a similar issue - but surely I'm not the only one? I think anyone still using a hotmail account will eventually install something like mBox for mac if they've gone Mac recently - as I have.
I checked the mail headers of the 2 mails, and they are quite different (masked where appropriate) -

I'm surprised I can't find anyone else with a similar issue. I've submitted a support ticket with mBox/fluent factory, but I'm still not convinced it's their issue, and possibly a Mail on Mac issue.

Great staff!!! MBox Fluent Factory is very poor app.
I was having problem with duplicated sent emails and cleaning up my inbox, sent items and deleting emails. Try to contact them via email for over 3 months and never got a reply!
I just used the suggested configuration and my Entourage (email app for MAC) is working perfetcly. I can visualise all my online folders now!

mBox never addressed the issue and the duplicated emails reached new levels of annoyance but the good thing is that Hotmail and Outlook.com finally rolled out support for IMAP.

When I type in the email address I want to send an email to, mail suggests email addresses i never use

I am using Apple's Mail application on my MacBook Pro for 3 emails. One personal, one for my work place and one for my university email address. From the university I receive lots of emails which isn't sent only for me, but every student on my course, so I am not the only receiver.
When I am sending an email, from any of my email addresses and I type in whom I want to send it to, it shows a bunch of email addresses that I have never sent an email to. They are all university email addresses and I want to get rid of them, but they are not in my address book and I have no clue how to delete them / where to find them.
For example: I wanted to send an email from my work place email to James Fox. He's email is [email protected] (just an example). When I start to type in James.f, about 100 email addresses pop up, but none of them is the one I need and I will never need those and I CANT GET RID OF THEM.
Please help me, how to get rid of all these unwan

How is the university account added to your system? (You should be able to find it in either System Preferences - Internet Accounts, or Mail - Preferences). Is it an Exchange account, perhaps? I wonder if you're seeing a centralized contact group that can't be controlled from your computer (but you may be able to turn it off completely).

While the mail was not send, i can telnet to front end with port 25. My users and I are using Thunderbird and Microsoft Outlook. What is problem on my mail server ?
I see time on MTA front end and Message Store are not synchronized, maybe this could be the problem?

You need to use PayloadSwapBean module in the Mail receiver adapter. This module will send the payload as an attchment to the mail server.

Mail always shows sending two emails in Mail activity

Hi, I have noticed, that even when I send only one email, the Mail activity reports "sending 2 mails". Does anyone know why that is?

It's because you're using an IMAP account, which resides on the server, not on your Mac. So whenever you send an email, it's sent to the server, which then sends it back to your Mac, so the two are always in sync.

All email service providers have a size limit on sending an email. See the following link for info on yahoo mail's file size restrictions, and ensure you are within this restriction.

Why can't I send an email in Mail Version 7?

With Mavericks 10.9.4 my Verizon account can receive email but I cannot send an email when using Mail v.7.3 (1878.6). The error messages always include: "Could not connect to this SMTP server" or mention a time-out. Are there any suggestions for me? Network Diagnostics show no problems. Thank you so much.

An update: I adjusted my modem firewall settings and now Network Utility says Port 587 is open but Mail Connection Doctor says "Could not connect to this SMTP server..." My network connection is OK & Account Preferences have the correct info. Would you have any suggestions at this point? Thank you.

Send encrypted email with Mail?

I noticed this article regarding using certificates to send encrypted emails from the Mail app. However, it's outdated and no longer supported by Apple. Do you guys know if 10.7.3 works the same way? Basically, I want to use a secure certificate to encrypt my outgoing email messages. I'm running 10.7.3.

I cannot send gmail emails from Mail on my IMac.

I cannot send emails from Mail on my iMac using gmail. I get the following error message:
The SMTP server “relay.gradwell.net” rejected the password for user “succeed”
