Send text message to multiple people on iPhone 6

Hi.  Am using an iPhone 6 with iOS version 8.1.2.  I'm unable to send an SMS to multiple contacts/people.  When I compose a new message and add a second person it shifts to MMS mode.  I looked in the manual and under sending a message to a group it only shows iMessage or MMS.  Is this a 'feature' of the iPhone 6?  Have also tried to turn off MMS from the settings but that did not work either.
The error I get is on the message window it shows "Message Not Delivered" and "Message Send Failure".  Spoke to my mobile provider and they said that there are no issues at there end.
Please help as this is a feature I use VERY regularly (sending one SMS to many people).
Thanks.

  • I am sending text messages to some people who think they come from my husband.  Also evertime I send a text to my husband, a copy is sent to me too.

I am sending text messages to some people who think they come from my husband.  They have both my name & number and my husbands name and number in their contacts.  Also everytime I send a text to my husband, a copy is sent to me too.  I do however receive text message from people to my phone and it seems to work fine if they do not have my husbands info.

You don't necessarily need separate AppleIDs, but you need to set the Send and Receive for Messages to different addresses (Settings App > Messages).

  • Sending Text Messages to Multiple Recipients

Is there a way to send a text message to multiple recipients? I've been trying to figure it out for a while. I feel like this is a feature that apple couldn't have just forgotten! Anybody know?

Not supported with the iPhone - at the present time anyway with no indication that it will be supported in the future.
Apple is known for doing research so right, wrong or indifferent, I doubt this is something Apple forgot to include.
The only thing you can do is provide Apple feedback via the iPhone feedback link.

  • TS3274 I can't send text message to some people in my contacts

I can not send text messages from iPad air to some of my contacts.   I can send from iPhone

    1. Messages on the iPad can only be sent to other iDevices and Mac Computers running Mountain Lion.
    2. They must also be registered with iMessage
Note: The two above conditions must be met.

  • I am having problems making calls and sending text messages and now getting my iphone activated.

I have a iPhone 4 and I had problems sending texts and making calls so I got a new one. I then gave my boyfriend my old iphone snd told him if he could get it to work he could have it. For some reason we are having problems getting it to activate. it wont let us make calles to verizon or anything on it. I do still have a warranty on the phone so would I be able to send it in and get a new one? or how does that work?

Take the device to Apple for evaluation.

  • When I send text messages to another iphone on my wireless plan I receive the sent message to my iphone.

When I send text messages to my wife's iphone I receive the sent message to my iphone.  Is there anyway to prevent this from happening?

Having seperate apple ID's will fix it, but here's how to fix it without adding a new ID.
Go to settings, messages, send and receive, be sure your number is the only one checked. If her number is checked as well you will receive your texts to her as well.

  • I can send text messages but I cannot receive them!  Can anyone help?

On my iPhone, I can send text messages, and other people receive them, no problem.
But when people send me texts, I never get them. What is going on, and what should I do?
    Frustrated,
    Dave

I'm having the same problem. I came from Verizon, and activated about an hour ago. I got the 2 free text messages from AT&T and can send, but not receive. My friend who transferred from TMobile on Friday night had the same exact problem. He had to call a number, and have them fix some thing in his billing that was not correct. I am trying to get the number from him. It is an AT&T thing.

I just bought an new ipad mini with wifi and cellular. Is there any way to send text messages to people and contacts that do not have iphones such as friends with blackberrys or a samsung galaxy smartphone from this ipad. Everytime I try to send a message to a person that does not have an Apple product ( Iphone or Ipad ) it comes up saying contact is not registered for iMessage and wont send it. I can only send them a message from my iPhone 4 instead. Do I have to install a new App from the App store to send these non iMessage cell users a message?

  • Why do text messages from my iPad appear to some people as if they came from my email address instead of my phone number? This does not happen when I send text messages from my iPhone.

Why do text messages from my iPad appear to some people as if they came from my email address instead of my phone number? This does not happen when I send text messages from my iPhone.

You need to link your iPhone number to Messages - and Facetime if you use it. For Messages go to Settings>Messages>Send and Receive at>You can be reached by iMessage at. If your phone number is showing there, select it as your Contact address. If it doesn't appear in there, take a look at the end of this article for help.

  • When I send text messages to someone, they end up going to a nearby iphone instead

I really need a bit of help with this question...
My friend just purchased an iphone 4s and he is having real problems with the texts and things. He sends text messages and they go to other people on his contacts list (yes, he has hit the correct name!) They appear to go to nearby iphones, and even people who are not on his contact list. It is particularly bad at his work where there is more than one iphone. Anyone else had this problem//know how to fix it?? The phone has been synchronized.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

Hi, I'm looking for the answer to the same question. My iPhone 4S recently sent a reply sms to a lot of unintended recipients some of whom weren't even in my phone book. It also caused me a lot of problems and I haven't been able to find out why. Apple are investigating but the damage is already done and I now don't trust the phone at all.

  • How to set up the iPhone 5 so that I can receive iMessage (incoming messages) and send text messages (outgoing) every time?

How do I set up the iPhone 5 so that I can receive iMessage (incoming messages) and send text messages (outgoing) every time? I have limited internet quota but unlimited sms!

    Thanks!!
The reason I don't want to set it off is because I want to let others send me iMessage - most people prefer that according to their plan.
How do I bring this request to the hands of the people doing the ios updates? Maybe they could work on this for the future...

  • IPhone slow to send text messages (iOS6)

    Hi,
since the update to iOS6, my iPhone 3GS has been incredibly slow to send text messages. It takes upwards of 5 minutes to send a text message not even 100 characters long. It is certainly not the network because I also had this issue in another town some 40 miles away. I have sent messages to multiple contacts, all with different carriers than me or the same carrier as me and the problem persists with all my contacts. Does anyone else have this issue or a solution?
    Kind regards

SMS requires a cellular connection. iMessage (to other iOS users) and instant messaging apps like Whatsapp, LifeProfile, Pinger, etc, will work over any data connection, including WiFi.
