Send variables to pdf form

I am using Adobe Lifecycle Designer now to build my forms and am trying to send variables into the pdf document using URL query, variables. It worked with my old forms using fdf but now it seems that wont function. Is there a tutorial or document someone can point me to to do this. I am coming up with nothing.
This is a double post from a Coldfusion forum, sorry bout that, i thought it had more relevance here.

Aaron,
I have the same problem, and would like to know if you came up with a solution. It's hard to believe that it can't be done.

  • Problems with saving and sending info in PDF form

    Hi,
I'm trying to make a PDF form in Indesign CS5, exporting it to PDF, opening in Acrobat 9 Pro, and get the form to be able to send the info I type in the fields.
So far I've had no problems making the form, exporting it, opening it in Acrobat 9 Pro, getting Acrobat 9 Pro to recognize the fields and save the form.
However, I'd opened the form and filled it out and attached it to an email, and when I got the email, the form was blank.
How do I get the form to save the data so it can be emailed?
    thanks for any help.
    Phil

(Acrobat Pro and Pro Extended) Choose Advanced > Extend Features In Adobe Reader.
I have somehow solved the problem. I tried using the above direction and it seems to have fixed the problem. I don't seem to get the message about not being able to save anymore and can send a completed PDF form that retains the information typed into the form.
Thanks for all who made suggestions.

  • Someone sends me a PDF form when I fill it out and email it back to them they receive it blank-why?

Someone sends me a PDF form when I fill it out and email it back to them they receive it blank-why?

All the fill-in PDF forms I've used are read/only. Meaning that whatever you fill in does not get stored and saved back with the file.
As Linc suggests, you will be creating a new PDF, that will not have fillable fields but that will contain whatever you filled in.

  • Sending "filled in" PDF forms to iphone sometimes empties the form? Why?

Why do standard "fill in the blank" adobe forms after being "filled in" drop all the "fill ins" when they arrive at the iPhone, but hold the information when sent to standard Apple and PC computers ?

The form that I made in Designer is not certified, when I open it in  Adobe Reader I cannot save any data entered into the form. So that cannot be the problem. Since I certified the file in Adobe Acrobat 8.0 Mac, I have no problem telling users to upgrade to Acrobat Reader 8.0 or 9.0, but this cross-platform issue remains. I think it may have something to do with layout of the text boxes, like fonts, colors, borders, etc.

  • How to send digital signature from pdf form to fdf file?

    Hi...
I already create the pdf form that contain digital signature field using ACROBAT XPRO...and now i would like to send data from pdf form to fdf file.I already manage to send data from other field except the digital signature. How to send the signature digital value to FDF file so that i can display it back to PDF file next time? Can anyone help me...i really need help right now...
    tq..

    hi....
    thanks for replying..
    George Johnson wrote:
It did work with earlier versions that did not perform a full save when a signature was applied. Since Acrobat/Reader now do a Save As when a signature is applied, there are no incremental saves to include in the FDF. This can still be useful for forms that haven't been signed, oddly enough, but since you cannot control whether the user performs a full save, it shouldn't be relied on for general use. The big problem is extracting the appended saves from the FDF so you can concatenate it to original document. The FDF Toolkit is the only thing I'm aware of that helps with this.
as u said that,Fdf tool kits can help to solve my problem. Can u send me the sample of code using java so that i can get the value using Fdf Tool kits?
    Thanks..

  • Submit pdf form data to sql database

Where I can find detailed information on the process of sending data from pdf form stored on the website to the sql database stored on web server ?? Where I can find some samples I could use to build my form and related script(s).

    Hi Paul,
Thank you very much for your quick response. I can not retrieve your
attachments, so please send them by email. Thank you.
What does it mean that DSN has to be set up on each machine which will run
the form ??? Does it mean for each person who will use the form ?? or
rather once on the server where the form is hosted ??? It will be a bit
difficult to use if it will have to be installed on each user computers as
some users may not be happy to do it. If this is the case do you have any
solution you would recommend which will collect the data from the form
without asking users to do anything special on their computers ????

submit pdf form data to sql database
If you want the form to contact the DB directly you will have to set up a
DSN on each of the machines that will run the form. Note that this wil
only work on Windows machines. Also the form must be launched for the
script to run (you mentioned the PDF was stored on the web server). I have
some samples that show how to deal with a DB but the attachments do not
seem to be working correctly on the forum yet. If you cannot retrieve them
post your email and I will email them to you directly.

  • Connect Pdf Form with Air Sqllite data

Hi, i would like to save my Pdf Form localy but i know about restrictions of 500 users (legal notes after giving advanced user permission).
I thought about do it in air which could have my pdf form inside. I thought that people after filling form with data could save it localy by connecting PDF Form (embed in air) with Air database. So people could save it offline and fill rest form date f.e. after few days to complete it later.
I don`t know any more option to save my form data localy (offline) without installing localhost database. Air installing is simple but i don`t know how should i start.
Please tell me how can i connect my PDF Form with Air database?
EDIT:Do you have any tutorials of that?

I read also about JavaScript method of sending data from PDF form to AIR with using PostMessage (communicate throw JavaScript & HTML Object embed). Now i don`t know is there more easy way to communicate with SQL lite Air local database than using PostMessage command (more direct as setting up File>New Connection>OLEDB Database in Livecycle Designer)?

  • Send PDF form to email address user enters in textfield on form.

I would like to be able to allow the person using the form to choose what email address the PDF form is emailed to. I read this post which sounds like what I want but I keep getting a Submit Cancelled error. The email does get generated and the form is attached as a PDF so that part works okay.

  • Is there a way to prevent users from sending empty or incomplete PDF forms?

    Hi all,
Using Acrobat Professional 8, I made a fillable form to individuals to fill in and submit to me as a pdf attachment to an e-mail or print out it and fill by hand.
Question 1. I want to make sure they don't send incomplete or empty forms back to me. Is there a way to do that?
    2. The form is 8.5x15 inches. I want it to look like one continuous page on screen but print as 2 letter size pages. However, when i go to print it, acrobat scales it down to fit in one page which makes the text too small to read.
    Please advise! Thanks.
    Karen

    On Question 2:
when you get to the Print menu in Acrobat/Reader look for scale to fit paper and uncheck if there is a reference to Full size check that.

  • Send PDF form to e-mail as attachment with a PHP script on the server

    Hi,
For several days I've been searching though the internet looking for a solution, a quite simple one in my opinion, but I got a little desperate not getting any result I want.
    Okay. The Situation.
I have a PDF form to order sandwiches and drinks.
The PDF has serveral area's and columns where customers fill in the amount of the products they would like to order.
At a position of a field, the kitchen can almost blindly see what products a customer ordered.
Therefore, when someone fills in the form, I want to send the filled PDF by e-mail to the kitchen's e-mail adress. And important: the PDF in the kitchen's mailbox should be completely identical to the form the customer filled in.
So, I have an Order button in my form. I set the action as 'Submit a form'.
In the settings under 'Enter a URL for this link' I used just some PHP mailer script I also use on my website contact form.
IF I check 'HTML' under 'Export Format' the PHP mailer works fine. I receive an HTML e-mail listed the ordered products.
    BUT
I do want the original filled PDF in my mailbox instead of an HTML e-mail.
So, for 'Export Format' I checked 'PDF The Complete Document'.
But then my PHP mailer script doesn't work anymore.
It gives errors like 'no valid e-mail adres' , etcetera etcetera.
    Who has a solution?
Who has a working standard PHP script for me what just sends the kitchen an empty mail with the original PDF as attachment?!
There is no need to use any database or other more complex functionality. Just mail the filled PDF.

You can submit whole PDF format as long as you enable usage rights on the PDF.
Normally Adobe Reader users can only submit the data, XFDF, FDF, XDP, XML.
To enable usage rights on the PDF you will need to use Adobe Acrobat Std/Pro.
As for the PHP Script; it depends on your PHP web server capabilities.
The script will be slightly different, if the server uses PHP Mail or PHP PEAR.
Just attach the submission to an email and send.
If the client is submitting the form from a standalone pdf reader app, you can also respond with a success or failure FDF \status message; otherwise, you can redirect to a success / failure URL.

  • How do I create a submit button for my form? I would like it to send the completed PDF to an email address

    Hi everyone,
I recently upgraded to Adobe XI and I can't find a "submit by email" button for my form. I created a button and tried to set up some actions but, I can only get the button to direct the user to a URL. How do I make it send the completed PDF to our designated company email address? I'm not too familiar with JAVASCRIPTS so I haven't tried that plus I heard it may not work with users with adobe reader.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Matt

Thanks for the input. I think you might have a different version of LiveCycle than the copy I have since it looks a little different. However, I found the answer in Adobe help. I had to type "mailto:" before the email address to indicate it's an email and not a URL. See below.
To collect form data as attachments to email, type mailto: followed by the email address. For example, mailto:[email protected]
