I am trying to send my video through Dropbox to a friend with a MAC Pro. What file type shall I use?

Anything you save to your computer can be saved to your Dropbox. Just make sure the footage will be useful on a Mac.

I saw this problem posted before but the answer didn't solve it for me. I don't have a .Mac account but I use pop mail for my email from my web-based email. Every time I send to a [email protected] address, I get the following message from "Mail Delivery Subsystem" (charles is an example @mac.com address)

This is only a guess, as there is no host "smtp-bounce.mac.com": your mailserver smtpout09-04.prod.mesa1.secureserver.net is currently listed at least at one blacklist service (take a look here http://tqmcube.com/cgi-bin/rbltqm?ip=64.202.165.17 to verify) as a spammer.
I am not sure about the technology Apple uses to prevent SPAM, but it technically would be possible to check for listed servers before establishing a connection and saying "HELO" with a faked hostname (smtp-bounce.mac.com in that case) and bouncing all mail.
The second possibility is, of course, that the given error "User unknown" is correct, and the user imply does not exist.
Try figuring this out by sending mail to .Mac users using an alternative mail provider or SMTP-server.

I have not idea how you do it with Picasa but with iPhoto you either export the photos to a desktop folder and upload from there or burns that folder to CD - or from the upload window use the media browser in the lower left hand corner of the upload windows - media ==> photos ==> iPhoto

Can't Use Video with other Mac users who use AIM

I know that ichat is compatible for video chats with other pc users who use aim, but does it work with other mac users who use aim?
Everytime I try to chat with my friend, I get an error message when trying to start of a video chat.
BTW, I use a iMac G5 with an isight camera.

For a Bit of Clarity.
AOL have their Instant Message App. referred to as AIM.
Apple decided and did a deal with AOL that iChat could join their service Buddy Lists.
On these Discussions we tend to refer iChat as Logging into AIM, as they are the servers that the Buddy Lists are held on.
As iChat can also use Bonjour and Jabber, both of which have their own Buddy list window on your Mac. The Jabber side needs you to have a Jabber screen name - so again people differentiate between this and the AIM side.
I would guess you friend is trying to make it clear that she is using the AIM side of iChat as opposed to the Jabber side.
As has been said already, the Application side of things also tend to get referred to generically as "AIM" as well.
The Mac version has stopped and 4.7 and will only Text chat.
The PC side needs 5.9 to clearly Video or Audio chat with a Mac using iChat. (AIM 6.0 is not stable enough to A/V chat to iChat).

Possible for non-Mac users to save and send iPhoto Mail images?

Will non-Mac users be able to download and save images sent from iPhoto via Mail? Of course they can see the images, but will they be able to save, send, and print them? Thanks.

The answer to the question is Yes, but...
A lot of people have problems because they don't understand their own email clients. The one way that is pretty much guaranteed to work is to send +only plain text emails+. It's the most basic form of email and it works.

Cannot make a video connection with non-mac users (AIM Triton)

Whenever me and my girlfriend try to start a video chat, we get error messages on both ends. i know everything is up to date because i can chat fine with other mac users, but whenever i try to chat with someone who is using AIM Triton i cna never make a connection, even though iChat says i should be able to.
Which side dost the problem lie?

iChat does it's video streaming through Quicktime (I believe), it's why one way to solve a connection problem is to try this:
System Preferences>Quicktime>Streaming - set streaming speed to 1.5Mbps
Also make sure Bandwidth limit is set to None in iChat>Preferences>Video.
Restart iChat after making the changes.
It's a good idea, if you can, to post an error log (down as far as where the binary images start) & give as much info as you can as to your connection to the internet (make & model of modem/router etc).

First time Mac User with a video problem

Hi. First of all I am a brand new Mac user. I am having problems watching videos. It constantly plays for a second or two, possibly a minute and then stalls....I wait....it picks back up, plays for a second or two longer and repeats the process, so basically it is a very bad viewing experience all around doing this. I have all the software updates. I am a former pc user so trying to adjust to the Mac. I don't know where to begin on fixing this so if someone has any insight or could help it would be great.

If you are using wireless, you might want to try plugging your computer directly into the cable or DSL modem and running the speedtest again. This will determine if it's a connection problem, or a problem with your wireless (possibly your router). I recently had a router go bad, and the only symptom was it was cutting the connection speeds in half, both wired and wirelessly. When I plugged straight into my cable modem I had full speed.
What is really strange is the disparity between your upload and download numbers. Usually, the upload is 1/10 of the download, not 2x larger. I've only seen this at work where they throttle our download speeds to 6,000 kbps to keep us from downloading large files for free on the wireless, while the upload speed runs 20,000 kbps. At my home, for example, I have 4,000 kbps download, and 400 kbps upload.

Can't video chat with AIM only .mac users like me.

I'm running the latest iChat AV.
There seems to be alot of posts regarding people being unable to chat with .mac and only AIm but my problem is exactly the opposite. I can only video chat with other .mac users and not with AIM users. (I am .mac).
Nothing here involves a PC, all accounts are on macs. Any .mac friends I try and video chat to it works great, but any mac AIM users all I kept getting are 'failed to respond' messages. I failed to respond or they did depending on who initiated the video chat. All type chatting works fine. I have no firewalls and plenty of bandwith. To the best of my knowledge the AIM users have no firewalls either. Any ideas?

Hi Rodi,
There has been one report of a .mac user contacting .mac because of this problem. He said he was informed that they were aware of the problem exsiting for some users but that they could not tell which ones.
They did something to his account that made it work (some problem with the .mac user list and the AIM Servers)
I suggest you explore this as well.

Can aim users and .mac users video/audio chat with each other?

today was a crazy day with ichat. two of my friends were able to video chat 1 on 1. my mac is qualified to handle 3-way or 4-way chats. when they invite me, the bubble pops up. i hit accept and the loading spindle keeps on spinning for minutes until it just denies me entrance. they get an error saying i never accepted, so as soon as they invite me, they don't get any other response back.
could it be that i am on the AIM network and both of them are on the .mac network?
iMac G5 Mac OS X (10.4.9) 1.8ghz, 1.5gig ram, 3rd party camcorder, latest iChat. router installed.

Yes. Apple does not have its own publicly available IM service; iChat uses the AIM network, and there are few functional differences between AIM and .Mac screen names. If they are using a client other than iChat, there may be interoperability issues with audio and video chats, or the other client may not support those types of chatting.
