Sender listed in incoming email

How do I set up my mac email so I can see the sender of the email listed with the subject?
Right now all I see is the subject. To see the sender I have to go into the email. Not a good method for weeding through junk emails or possible virus laden emails.

go to view menu->columns and check the box for "from". and don't worry about viruses. there are no os x viruses so thing will happen if you open any emails.

    You need to set up a forwarder in the postfix system used by OS X Server to handle mail.
    It is quite straightforward to set this up if you are familiar with using command line / terminal to configure your machine.  If you are not sure about this mode of using OS X Server, you may need to find an alternative method.
    Assuming you logged into the server as an Administrator, the way to do it is as follows:
    1) On your server, open a terminal window and switch into 'super user' mode by typing su at the prompt.  You will be asked to give the password for your account, and if successful you'll see the command prompt change (from something ending in a $ sign to something else ending in a # sign) 
    2) Open the file virtual_users in the directory /Library/Server/Mail/Config/postfix for editing.  I use nano - but you can use whatever editor you prefer for this - e.g.
    nano /Library/Server/Mail/Config/postfix/virtual_users
    3) In this file (which is probably blank / empty when you start) type in the following information for each of your users that you are trying to forward mail from (obviously you'll need to correct the email addresses first!)

    [email protected]     [email protected]    [email protected]
    [email protected]   [email protected]    [email protected]
    4) Now you need to process the file to put it in a form that postfix can read, do so by typing in the following
    postmap /Library/Server/Mail/Config/postfix/virtual_users
    5) Now you need to restart postfix so that it uses your new settings
    postfix reload
    6) Now just type exit into the terminal to leave SU mode and you are done.  Test your email addresses, but it should "just work".
    The clever bit is the postfix virtual_users file. 
    In that file, you put the email address you want to play with first on the line, and then you can put as many other email addresses after it (with spaces between): postfix will forward messages sent to the first address to each of the addresses in the list. 
    Most normally this system is used to set up 'forwarding' systems - so if you want one email to go to another this is what you do.  But if you want to do this and keep a copy, simply repeat the original email (i.e. the one at the start of the line) in the list that follows, and a copy goes to that one too.  Postfix is clever enough to not get into a tail-spin - it doesn't loop back and send a copy of the copy or anything.

    I created a form in InfoPath, and published it to our Sharepoint 2010 server.  It works well.   Is there a way to select a form in a list,  and email it to users ?  
    The way the process works.   I create a form, enter in all the data in the form,  and save it. 
    I would like to select the form and then email it to certain users in our company.

  • Want list of incoming emails to be larger not just email itself

    Hi: I just reconfigured my email onto Thunderbird on my new mac (used it just fine on my old computer). I can barely see the list of emails in my inbox. I have figured out using the advanced setting how to increase the font size of each email when it comes up in the reading pane. I would also like the list of emails themselves to be in a bigger font. Searched lots of articles and played in all the settings but can't figure it out. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks, Julia Holloway.

    Hello Julia, normally what works or should work is by pressing the Ctrl button on the keyboard and scrolling up or down with the mouse wheel one click at a time.

  • Gwia and distribution list on incoming email

    We have several distribution lists.
    Our Gwia expanded distribution list, so external users can send a mai to our distributon lists.
    That 's what we wanted .
    My question :
    Is there away to block this capability on some distribution lists ? (with internet adressing or ...) not all.

  • First I had the last date up and now all of a sudden stands the last date under the list of incomming emails how can I get the last date again up the list

    I hope you understand what I mean because English is not my language but Dutch.

    Click on "Date" to sort by date. Click it again to reverse the sorting.
    Or, in the menu, '''View|Sort By''' and select '''Date''' and '''Ascending '''or '''Descending '''as you require. You probably want '''Unthreaded''' too.

  • My incoming emails only show the header and not the content

    My incoming emails on my ipad only show the header when I open them, not the content or any attachments.  This has not always been the case - I used to receive them normally.  In the list of incoming emails, the first few words of the text appear, but when I open them, they are blank.  Any suggestions?

    Try a reset:
    1. Hold the Sleep and Home button down (together)
    2. For about 10 seconds
    3. Until you see the Apple logo (very important)
    4. Ignore the red slider

    I am facing issue with SharePoint 2013 List incoming email setting. It was working in MOSS 2007 system.
    I did:
    Whenever I am trying to specify list (incoming) email id and submit it. I am getting following error.
    "Unable to assign this e-mail address to the list, because the address is in use."
    When Users are sending email to list they are getting "Undelivery" notification.
    Please help.

    Hi Rajat,
    There might be below options you can try to resolve the issue.
    1. There is a bug that sometimes causes this issue. If you update the description of the list and try again, it may resolve your problem.
    2. If you have SharePoint setup to create contacts in AD, have you verified there is not a lingering AD contact with the e-mail address? If so, you may need to delete it so the address is available in AD.
    Also please check whether other document library is using the same email id for incoming email setting or not.

    I compose an iMessage with the destination as my email address and I attach 2 photos I want on my PC.  I send them several times from my iPhone 5C but they never arrive. I look at my ipad later and realize that it's iMessage app is getting ( and swallowing) these emails. I then turn the ipad off.  Still can't get the photos through because iphone is now getting them on it's iMessage.  I turn off the iMessage feature and try to send photos from text msging.  Phone tells me it can't send photos unless iMessage it turned on.  What happened to regular MMS text messaging?  I go and try to send photos as an email attachment and see that there is no option to attach from the stupid email program.  I look up online to learn about the brave new world of apple attachments and send them.

    Did not work. I've selected iMessage to ON and left it. After a few hours I recieved a message "activation unsuccessful. Turn on iMessage to try again". This has been going on for the past 3 days.

    Boss - 75
    ESPN - 200
    It would best to get them in a excel sheet so I can print, review and then make decisions to delete entire names that I know longer communicate with.

    I've a received a request today from a user asking me which list was setup with a specific incoming email address.
    Is there a way to find out which list is associated with an email address?

    OK after a bit of research I found a way to achieve this.
    I simply looked up the email address in ADUC, then did a search in SP with the display name. I could locate the list and manually confirm it was configured with the incoming email address I was looking for.
    I also found the below script on Stackoverflow, but got "The 'using' keyword is not supported in this version of the language." when I tried to run it. Any idea how to fix that? I'd like to have a script to link a library to an email address istead of the
    manual approach described above.

    Are you using either cc or bcc? Is googlemail involved? Some email providers suppress cc's and bcc's to oneself since you will have a copy in your Sent folder.

    As the title says, I would like to know if it's possible to send the delivery failure email to a specific list.
    I have correctly configured the mailbox so it's working like a whitelist, if you dont have the right to send email to it then you will recieve a delivery failure from Exchange. That is perfectly working.
    But, my question is, for that specific mailbox, I'd like to know if we can send also the delivery failure to a specific list, in order to let the admins to know that someone tried to send an email to that mailbox.
