Sender or Merge?

I want data from the Address Book to appear on a series of Pages envelopes. Help says to "Insert > Sender or Insert > Merge" but (no surprise here) gives no hint at what the difference is. Why would I pick one or the other?

I never tried dragging a group to a merge field, but you should since it's your question. Let us know what happens. The worst that can happen is that you don't like the result. Until you press the Print button in the print dialog, you haven't wasted any paper and can always delete the merge document. I would have suggested using Edit > Mail Merge, but I see no problem trying the drag technique.

Merging WSDL and sending it to a test webservice

Hi All,
I have four wsdl to merge into a single wsdl and import into XI and use
it a source data type. The wsdl contains different namespaces in it.
Could anyone guide me the procedure step-by-step to do it. Any help is really appreciated. Can I send the merged wsdl through XML spy to a test webservice and test it. How can i create a test webservice to test it.

Sending email using IMAP through SMTP Port 587

Hi,
I have been sending Mail Merged email to people in organizations that I am active in, using IMAP embedded in StarOffice 5.2 (on Windows 98 Second Edition). This worked fine until a few weeks ago when I received an error message stating that AOL, as part of their anti-spam efforts, was no longer accepting third-party emails on default port 25. All third-party email must now use port 587. I looked in the IMAP dialog and in the Tools -> Options dialog, but did not see any place to change the SMTP port. The AOL error message information page had instructions for changing the port in other applications (Outlook, Eudora, etc.), but not for StarOffice. So, I have some questions:
1.Is it possible to change the port in StarOffice 5.2?
2.If not, how does StarOffice 8 send Mail Merged email? Does it use IMAP, and if so, can the port be changed?
3.Also, I like the integrated configuration in StarOffice 5.2, where database fields can be directly accessed in the Insert -> Fields -> Other dialog. In looking at the Mail Merge section in "SO8_What's New.pdf", it appears that Mail Merge in StarOffice 8 is restricted to predefined fields. Could I still access fields from my existing databases?
These is a lot of questions, but right now I am blocked from sending Mail Merged emails which is imparing communications with volunteers who are running educational programs. I appreciate any and all help that anyone can provide.

You can send emails using Outlook also. You can send email over Microsoft Exchange with this object (or another email server, using IMAP/POP).

Mail Merge to PDF

I am using Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Pro to send a merged word document to a list of email receipents.
I have created two word files, the first works fine but the second I always get the error message that "Acrobat PDFMaker was not able to mail merge the document".
The only difference between the two files is that the second has some additional merge feilds. Although it doesnt appear to relate to any specific additional field (no matter which field I add, as soon as there is a new field the merge fails).
Does anyone have any suggestions about what might be causing the merge to PDF to fail?
FYI, I can complete the mail merge in word no problem, and I can mail merge and email to receipents in word no problem. (The end result I am after is to send out to the email receipents a PDF file rather than an editable word doc).

I've had this same problem with one word document and I think I figured out what is going on, at least in my case. I'm using Word 2003. I tried a test of one merge record, and it worked, but when I tried to complete the entire merge, it failed. After trying several times to no avail, I noticed that the first word in my document had the red spell check underline, even though the word was not spelled wrong. When I placed my mouse cursor in front of the first letter of the word, the font information said "ZWAdobeF" and the size was 1. After I deleted this and tried the merge to e-mail through the Adobe plugin, it worked flawlessly. After the merge was completed however, that font reappeared in front of the first word in my document.

Data Merge: Multiple records in a Multiple Page Document

I looked in the InDesign help and under Limitations for merging multiple records it reads:
You cannot merge multiple records if the data fields appear on a document page in a document with multiple pages, or if data fields appear on multiple master pages.
I'm using InDesign CS 5.5. I produce a 4-page newsletter printed on both sides as a booklet, folded and stapled and each folded page size is 8.5 x 11 (a four page booklet on 11×17 paper) I want to print our 250-name mailing list on the outer cover but have discovered that it only prints the whole thing then staples it or I need to manually print each issue per name.
Is there a way around this? If we have to use a third party software, would you let me know what to look for? Any suggestions are appreciated.

How many names are you trying to put on each newsletter? I suspect only one, and that you've misiniterpreted the Help file. That warning applies to putting multiple records from the data file on the SAME page, like a sheet of labels.
Just so you know, using Data Merge to do a mailing where you are addressing multiple copies of a static document is potentially VERY inefficent. Data Merge needs to make a page for every page that will be printed, so if you have a 4-page newsletter with 1,000 subscribers you will wind up with a 4,000 page document just to get the name and address on one page, and your printer will be re-processing all those duplicate pages for each newsletter. If you have a commercial grade copier/printer there may be a variable data printing module availble for it that will merge your list at print time so you need only send a 4-page file and print 1000 copies (or you can send the job out to a printer who can handle this kind of work), or if you want to print in-house anddon't have VDP capabilities, I recommend doing two files.
The first file should be the side of the sheet that doesn't change. Print that first as a single page doing x plus a few extra copies (in case of jams in the printer when doing the second half) where x is the number of newsletters you need. The second file is the other side of the sheet with the addresses, which you do as the Data Merge, and will end up as x pages. After printing the first side, flip the stack and reload so you are printing on the blank side, then send the merge document, asking for one copy.

Whats the best way to send multiple layers into a Motion Project

Hey all, I have a project that has multiple video layers in FCP: I'm trying to MERGE them so that I can send that MERGED layer into Motion to add additional elements. I've tried NESTING the items yet they never truly MERGE into one clip? When I send to Motion It always goes in just showing text with primary video black ? Can someone help with the correct procedure.
Here's how I got the layers in FCP
Primary video (L1)
Graphics (L2)
Text (L3)

Since I can't watch over your shoulder, I'm only guessing that your inexperience is the main problem. Merging the clips is not an option since they are from different sources. Nesting will give you all of the layers as a single video track in another sequence but that cannot be sent to Motion since it reference separate sources.
You can render your original sequence and that will, indeed, flatten the tracks into a single, flat, merged movie. but you cannot tease the layers back out into separate items.
You can explore the various ways of sending material from FCP to Motion later, here's what I'd do now: Import your video and graphics files into an empty Motion project. compose your text as a text layer in Motion.

Running Windows 7, GW 8.01 and Word 2007 SP1. Trying to run a mail merge that will send the merge via e-mail. GW is configured as the default MAPI application.
While it appears to process something, messages are never sent. Nothing in Sent Items, nothing delivered, NADA.
Has anyone been able to get this to work?

We are having the exact same issue now also. Were you able to figure this out?

Print merged document

I am sending out a letter to my regular clients and am merging with my address books.
I have composed the letter and added the merge fields (altho I cant work out which to use, add merge field or add sender field?)
I've tried both but when I want to print the letters, the tutorial says to go to Edit and select Mail Merge, but this is not selectable???

Sender = You
Merge = Them
Have you actually linked to valid fields in your Address Book?
You can check what is supposed to merge with what in:
+Inspector > Link > Merge > Choose…+
+Merge Field+ is what you have in your document and +Target Name+ is the label in Address Book or Numbers.

BPM Start Process

We have scenario(file to file) where we get multiple files and is merged using BPM, transformed and sent to the receiver. We have file This is a time based collection. Incoming file adapter is set to poll every 30 sec, and the block in BPM timeout in 2 mins ( for testing purpose).
The BPM receive step (inside the loop) has the start process turned on. The expected behaviour was to receive all files in one instance of BPM and send the merged one out.
It is spawning the multiple BPM instance based on number of files in the sender file adapter. My guess is it is doing this since we have the start process on receive step and for each receive it is starting a new process. How do we eliminate this to have only one instance start as I am not finding any other step prior to receive ( block , and loop) where I can start the process.
Any help is appericiated.

1. If you want to merge the same file format , Use "Loop" step before "Recevie" step. Put some deadline branch , which will ensure your time limit.
This would resolve your problem.
2. If you want to merge different file format , you need to have multiple "Receive" steps and for that you need to use the "Fork" step.

Debug ABAP Multi Mapping in a BPM

Hi Guys,
My scenario is as follows.
1) Send IDOCS from SAP.
2) Loop start
3) Collect in BPM based on some correlation
4) append to a multi line container
5) Loop ends at certain condition
6) Transform using interface mapping which is in this case ABAP mapping.
7) Send the merged message
I am facing a mapping error, but could not figure out what it is, it says
"Parsing error after mapping: unexpected symbol: '<' (line 0, column 53)"
My question is how to debug ABAP Mapping when it is BPM.
Things already done and did not work
1) HTTP break point does not work as BPM is run by WF-BATCH user and it is not a dialog user, so debug window does not appear when the mapping is running
2) I cannnot use SXI_MAPPING_TEST transaction as any of BPM cannot be selected on the first screen, without which it does not allow you to debug.
Please help me how to go into a debugger when my Multi ABAP mapping is executed in the system.

Try debugging with this approach if possible.
1. Unregister your queue from TC SMQR
2. Execute your scenario
3. Check the Queue and Debug your LUW by pressing Debug LUW.
4. Set the breakpoint at your mapping program and test.
5. After completion Register your queue again.

Regarding BPM

Hi All,
I'am using BPM.(File-BPM-File)
I'am getting data from 2 files for that I've used 2 receive steps with in the fork.
1st receive step for Control data from one file and i use option start process for this receive step.
2nd receive step for detail data from another file and i didnt select start process.
Before transformation i put a condition in the fork that one field in the control and detail file must be same.(Eg-GUI).If both are equal then transformation will work.Here Fork step is complete.
3rd step is the transformation step for merge the control and detail data.
4th step is to send step to send the merged data to the receiver.
Here my data is picking up from sender when i'am checking in SXMB_MONI it's giving 2 successfull flags and it is receiving 2 files from sender.But when i'am checking in SXMB_BPE there is no messages .There is no file creating in the receiver side.
What's the problem might be?help me

XDP - open PDF with #toolbar=0 problem in IE

When opening PDF's using a correctly constructed XDP I specify at the end:
<pdf href="some.pdf" xmlns=http://ns.adobe.com/xdp/pdf/ />
Everything works correctly in all browsers.
I would like to hide the toolbars so when I change the href to:
<pdf href="some.pdf#toolbar=0" xmlns=http://ns.adobe.com/xdp/pdf/ />
the PDF opens but in IE the XDP data doesn't merge however, it works as expected in other browsers (data merge and toolbar hidden)
Has anyone else come accross this or know of a fix or workaround?

Since your posting the XDP data to a PDF, you can merge the XDP + LC PDF using 3rd party tools, send the merged PDF to buffer (data is presented), and then pass the querystring parameter to the merged PDF.

Implement CollectMerge without BPM?

Hello all,
I have the following scenario:
1. Synchronous message A sent to XI.
2. XI sends it to N receivers.
3. XI merges N responses of type B to one response of the same type.
4. XI sends the merged response as an answer to A.
I implemented this scenario using a BPM process.
However, since it involves user interaction,
BPM is not reccomended due to its performance cost.
Is there a way to implement such a scenario without the use of BPM?
(Perhaps using user defined functions in the mapping stage?)

This is possible if you make your steps Async.
Here
1. sender A---ReceiverB
2. Sender B (Collected data) --- Receiver A.
But then these would be independent steps and you will have to take care that step 1 triggeres before step2.
Otherwise if you need to collect data in XI you will have to use BPM.
Basically async messages are stateless . If you need to club messages together you want to make it stateful which is the basis for BPM use.

Bpm Pattern Collect Payload

I am trying to merge multiple inputs within a loop and then merge them in a transformation step and then send the merged output.
I am getting an error "Expression must return a multiline value" because I assigned a multiline container to the source message of the transformation step. I made sure that occurances for the messages are 0..unbounded.
Has anyone faced this issue before?

One more issue related to this scenario. As per SAP's pattern for "stop collect based on payload", the initial loop needs a condition based on the payload element.
My condition is
(PurchaseOrder./p1:MT_PurchasOrderReq/TotalNumberOfMessages ≠ MsgCount) similar to SAP BPM Pattern.
I don't get any error in IR or ID, but once the integration process is activated in ID, I see a return code of 99 for this integration process in SXI_CACHE. The Activation log error says 'TOTALNUMBEROFMESSAGES' is not a component of data object 'PAYLOAD'
I get the same error if I import SAP's BpmPatternCollectPayload integration process in to ID and activate it.
If I change my condition to (MsgCount ≠ 3) then it works. Am I missing some kind settings?
