Sending a Pages document

When I send a pages document to my coworkers in the new Pages, they can't open it even though they are using the same version. What's wrong?SEnding

How are you trying to send it?  And are they getting a specific error message when trying to open it?

I cannot send a Pages document, Word via email if the doc contains a picture.  If I email a Pages doc without a pic in Word format or pdf with a pic it with go through to sender?  Not sure why Pages won't send Word doc with a picture in it.  I check the security on the email recipient and the email doesn't get blocked or throw in the junk box?
    thanks,

If you have upgraded to Mountain Lion, Save As… has returned to the File menu when you hold down the Option/alt key. But you don't really "save" as other file types, you translate & export as Word or RTF or text or PDF & that is easily done by going to File > Export or Share > Export.
Also, please do us all a favor & don't use all capitals in your posts, either the body of the post or the title. All caps is the internet equivalent of shouting & is very hard to read.

  • I would like to send a Pages document to a client who can then manipulate and change the file.  How can I do that with OSX 10.6.8?

Can I send a Pages document to a client who can then manipulate or change them on their end?

You can export the Pages document to Word or text instead of Pages but I advise you to first save the document in the native Pages format. Still best is if you reciever get the applicationif you are going to do a lot of editing on documents.
About setting the computer etc. I don't know what the person was thinking off.

  • Sending a Pages document as an email but not an email attachmentt

using iwork '08 and a pages newsletter template, is there a way to send a pages document as an email without making it an attachment? for business a newsletter is better for clients if it arrives in the email as the body of the email instead as in the form of an attachment. how is that possible with Pages?

    Hi J,
Copy the contents of the Pages document and Paste into the body of the email. Try this and see if the formatting remains satisfactory.

    Ian.

  • I'm trying to send a pages document as an email attachment to pc users.  They can't access the document.

I'm trying to send a pages document as an email attachment to pc users.  They can't access the document.  When I try go to the "file" menu, there is no "save as" option.

    Hi Shelly,
    Command-P (Print)
In the Print dialogue, click the PDF button at lower left, choose Mail PDF
The result should be a new email document with the pdf file attached.
    Address and send.
The procedure applies to any document which may be printed, not just Pages documents.

Go to iCloud and sign in with your Apple ID and password

Find your document, click Download and choose Pages '09
    Pages will open automatically.
File > Move To... choose your portable hard disk and click Move.

  • Emailing/Opening/Sending a Pages Document

When I save a file in Pages, it never seems to be compatible with any windows machine. When sending the file by email, it doesn't even give me an option to send the Pages file. They are still all in grey. Not sure why or what I need to do.
    Ideas?
    Thanks.
    Jord

You would need to make the pages file a PDF before you send it to any Windows User.
Here is an easy way to do this:
    1. Open your Pages File
    2. Go up to File > Print'
    3. In the print window you will see a "PDF" drop down arrow in the bottom left hand corner Click on it.
    4. Choose Mail as PDF
Mail will open and create a new email that should be compatible with a Windows Computer. You can also save any of your Pages Document to PDF by choosing the "Save as PDF" option.
    I hope this helps,

  • How to send a Pages document to others? The file is too big for emails.

I want to work the same Pages document with a team. What are the options to be able to send to them to edit back and forth? It's over 25MB and emails don't support large files.

Personally, if this were my team, I would standardize on Office for Mac 2011 update 14.4.7 (latest) and then everyone would be on the same page, without any of the Pages v5 feature deficit, document incompatibility, and productivity drop trying to make simple things work. The Word documents would be substantially smaller, and have better support for team edits.
    Regarding Pages…
Is the entire team on Yosemite, and will be signed into iCloud? If so, you can use Yosemite Mail's new Mail Drop feature which can support up to 5GB files. Read about Mail Drop in this article.
The next challenge is one of file compatibility among Pages users. If you use the default file format (Single File) written by Pages v5.5.1 on Yosemite, it cannot be opened by Pages v5.2.2 or earlier on Mavericks. You must instead, change that File type to Package and save it again. Pages v5.5.1 has File > Advanced > Change File Type, and a choice of Single File (default), or Package. Pages v5 documents originated on Mavericks can be opened in Pages v5.5.1.
If a member of the team is using Pages '09 v4.3, then any work performed in Pages v5 must be first exported to Pages '09 format. Any functionality used in Pages '09 v4.3 that is not supported in Pages v5 will be filtered out when opened in Pages v5.

  • I can no longer send a Pages document.  When I click Share my Send Via Email is grayed out.  When I click on pdf or any format the pull down screen disappears and nothing happens.  Why?  I am using an iMac with Mountain Lion.

I can no longer email a Pages document.  When I click Share my Share Via Email is grayed out.  If I click pdf the window disappears and nothing happens.  Any ideas?

Do you have the application Mail as the default mail application?

  • Can't send a PAGES document Via email in PDF form ... used to be done by clicking share and PDF  HELOP

creating a document on pages and trying to share it via email in PDF form used to be really easy...
How does this work now?  help

I always just do file->print. Then in the lower left is a menu that said "PDF" and just pick "Mail PDF" from the dropdown and a new email is composed with the PDF attached. One step to print, one click to choose mail and you're done. I just tried this on the latest Yosemite and Pages updates and it works fine.

  • Send a pages document as a email

hello i use to send my newsletter in publisher as a email so people would not need to open an atachment,
i dont know how to do it in pages, ?
i would like to send it just like the mac news

In addition to what Peggy said
    As you wrote
i use to send my newsletter in publisher as a email _so people would not need to open an atachment_
I wish to add that the PDF or the Word or the zip file will all of them be attachments.
As far as I know, Mail programs aren't displaying such files directly in a mail's body.

  • Sending A Pages Document, not as an attachment

Does anyone know if it is possible for me to past a Pages artwork onto the body of an email (it is for my business), so that it does not come up as an attachment which needs to be opened? I would like to take my pages artwork and paste it directly onto the email, having the artwork being the first thing that is seen when the email is opened.

    That still creates an attachment.
Any "art" added to an email is really an attachment, since emails are text. Even when they look like a web page, the underlying code is still text (html).

  • I can't send Pages documents over Skype

I try to send a Pages document over Skype, but it says words to the effect "Only regular data files can be sent". I tried to zip it using the contextual menu create archive command, all I got was a beep. My wife swears that she can't even send them as attachments. Could someone enlighten us here, what are we doing wrong? Thanks for your help.
    Regards, NIck.
1 gig TiBook, quad G5 Mac Mini   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

I try to send a Pages document over Skype, but it
says words to the effect "Only regular data files can
    be sent".
Pages documents are actually a folder of files. So they can't just be attached to an email and sent. The solution is to first compress the document and send it as a zip/archive file. Thankfully, Mail in 10.4 does this automatically but other mail programs don't.
I tried to zip it using the contextual menu
create archive command, all I got was a beep.
Do you mean you couldn't create an archive in Mac OS X? Or that Skype beeped when trying to transfer the file?
If you mean Skype couldn't transfer the file then this would be a Skype problem. .zip files are a PC and Mac standard, so there's not reason they couldn't be emailed or shared via Skype.

  • How can I convert a Pages document into PDF or RTF?

I have been asked to send a Pages document to PC users in RTF or PDF format.  How can I get my Pages document to convert into other formats for PC people?
Is that what the export feature is supposed to do?  I just don't know how to sent my document via e-mail to non-Apple conputers!

You didn’t indicate whether you are using Pages ’09 v4.+ or the latest Pages v5(.2) release. To send an email with either Word or PDF attachment from within Pages:
    Pages ’09 v4+
Pages menubar > Share (category Send via Mail) > (select Word (.doc) or PDF). Mail will launch into a compose window with the document already attached.
    Pages v5+
Pages toolbar > Share > Send a Copy > Email > (select Word (.doc/x) or PDF - best). Mail will behave as above.
Note: Either version of Pages is not an MS Word clone and it must translate content into the Microsoft document architecture. If you must have maximum Word document accuracy, you will need Office for Mac 2011, and the associated MS Word application that produces native .docx format.
    Backup your work.
