Sending a picture through photo app

I have the iPhone 5.  When wanting to text a picture, I am unable to do that from the Photos app on the phone.  (Using the small curved arrow button at the bottom does not work.  It allows me to choose "message" but then nothing happens! The message window does not open, and the picture remains on the screen.  There have been times the photo app freezes and I have to close and restart.)
I am, however, able to begin a new text message and attach a picture.
Any ideas?  I don't know what settings to check.  I previously had the iPhone 4, and didn't have this issue.
Thanks!

I have "Keep Normal Photo" OFF and never had a problem sending pix from the photo app in mail, messages or FB.
What have you done  troubleshooting?
Basics from the manual are restart, reset, restore
Follow the 3R's- if a restart does not solve your problem proceed
User troubleshooting is:

  • How can i send a picture through text?

Does anyone knows how to send a picture through text message?

I came across this a while back and thought it was a good read
There are some interesting challenges with MMS that do not exist with SMS:
Content adaptation: Multimedia content created by one brand of MMS phone may not be entirely compatible with the capabilities of the recipients' MMS phone. In the MMS architecture, the recipient MMSC is responsible for providing for content adaptation (e.g., image resizing, audio codec transcoding, etc.), if this feature is enabled by the mobile network operator. When content adaptation is supported by a network operator, its MMS subscribers enjoy compatibility with a larger network of MMS users than would otherwise be available.
Distribution lists: Current MMS specifications do not include distribution lists nor methods by which large numbers of recipients can be conveniently addressed, particularly by content providers, called Value Added Service Providers (VASPs) in 3GPP. Since most SMSC vendors have adopted FTP as an ad-hoc method by which large distribution lists are transferred to the SMSC prior to being used in a bulk-messaging SMS submission, it is expected that MMSC vendors will also adopt FTP.
Bulk messaging: The flow of peer-to-peer MMS messaging involves several over-the-air transactions that become inefficient when MMS is used to send messages to large numbers of subscribers, as is typically the case for VASPs. For example, when one MMS message is submitted to a very large number of recipients, it is possible to receive a delivery report and read-reply report for each and every recipient. Future MMS specification work is likely to optimize and reduce the transactional overhead for the bulk-messaging case.
Handset Configuration: Unlike SMS, MMS requires a number of handset parameters to be set. Poor handset configuration is often blamed as the first point of failure for many users. Service settings are sometimes preconfigured on the handset, but mobile operators are now looking at new device management technologies as a means of delivering the necessary settings for data services (MMS, WAP, etc.) via over-the-air programming (OTA).
WAP Push: Few mobile network operators offer direct connectivity to their MMSCs for content providers. This has resulted in many content providers using WAP push as the only method available to deliver 'rich content' to mobile handsets. WAP push enables 'rich content' to be delivered to a handset by specifying the URL (via binary SMS) of a pre-compiled MMS, hosted on a content provider's web server. A downside of WAP push is that from a billing perspective this content is typically billed at data rates rather than as an MMS. These charges can be significant and result in 'bill shock' for consumers.
Although the standard does not specify a maximum size for a message, 300 kB is the current recommended size used by networks due to some limitations on the WAP gateway side.

  • IPhone 3GS MMS works when sent through Photos app but not Messages app?

I recently got the iPhone 3G S 3.1 update, but for some reason when I send MMS through the camera button on the Messages screen it doesn't send. The "Sending" bar would go almost to the end and then stop for about 5 - 10 seconds, and then it reaches the end, but it doesn't send when I did a test with two of my friends. Though, when I click the "MMS" button on the photos app, it does send. I don't get why MMS doesn't work in the Messages app when it does in the Photos app, can you guys help me figure out the problem and how to fix it?
    Thanks.

  • Sending a picture through email

how can you send a picture off your phone through email. on most phones it says send via email, but on the nokia 6111 it doesnt supply that option. wb xxx

I suppose you need to set up an email mailbox first (your operator's Internet access point settings, your email username/password, the email outgoing SMTP server, incoming POP3 or IMAP4 server, etc.).
The phone's user's guide should explain how to do it; the settings/values to use you get from your network operator and email provider.

  • Can see photos in Windows Explorer, but not through Photos app

I had to get my iPhone 6 (64GB) replaced due to a hardware issue. I backed up my old iPhone, and then restored the backup onto my new iPhone. Everything ported over fine, except for the photos. I lost about 1 month worth of photos. The weird thing is that I can view these photos when I explore my phone through Windows Explorer, yet they are not appearing in the Photos app. I have tried another restore but it does not fix the problem. I'm using iOS 8.1.

    Help menu (alt+H) >Troubleshooting information
Click the show folder button for your profile
    Close Thunderbird
In Windows explorer delete the file Foldertree.json.
    Restart Thunderbird.

  • Dragging pictures from Photos app to Photoshop

    Hi
I'm okay with the Photos app, but I can't seem to drag pictures directly into Photoshop.
Every time I need an image, I have to look at the info of the picture, go to Photoshop; File < 'Open' and insert the image number.
It's really not a very productive way to work like that...
    Kind regards
    Kristof

Once again, very aggressive and defensive response. Neither addresses the question nor aids in finding a workaround.
The Facebook api is open to all, and allows any album or the timeline to be specified. Many other apps and platforms manage that. So the Facebook end of this is available and ready to use.
It is an Apple choice to load to 1 specific album only, instead of offering the user a choice of album, or indeed the timeline. So the only part of this Facebook/Apple interface that needs a change to address this request is the Apple end.
My Android kit does this nicely enough, as does my Macbook Pro , its just my IOS devices that struggle.
It is Apple's absolute right to leave this as it is, presumably to nudge users further into the iCloud ecosystem, but it is a legitimate request and entirely within Apple's control to resolve.

  • Why won't iMessage send/receive PICTURES through my iPad, iPhone, and MacPro on Wifi?

For the last 2 weeks or so, I haven't been able to send/receive images through the iMessage application on either of my iPad, iPhone 4S, or MacPro. I have tried different Wi-fi connections, I have deleted/re-added email addresses to which I can be reached at/send messages and tried sending different pictures...all unsuccessfully. I try sending them, they say "Delivered" for a moment and then switch to saying "Not Delivered" (in red). I have tried to confirm with other people if they receive the pictures I send, regardless of me seeing the "Not delivered" message, but they say that they didn't receive anything. I have only been able to send pictures once in the last 2 weeks. Can anyone help me with this?

  • How do I delete pictures in PHOTOS app?

I thought I successfully deleted all the photos from my iPhone 4S by accessing the photos under Internal Storage using my Windows 7 laptop, and going into each folder, selecting all the photos and deleting them.  I was unable to delete 'Local Disk' files, (aggravating), and when I checked on my phone, all the photos were gone from the Camera app, yet there were still many photos in various collections in the Photos app.  How do I delete those? Sometimes, hitting Select and Select All on a Collection allows me to hit the Garbage Can icon to delete, but sometime the Garbage Can is not there.  I don't know why that is the case.
    Thanks for any help.

You can only delete photos directly from the Camera Roll and the Photo Stream. If the other photos are on your device because you sync'd them to it, you have to remove them the same way - via a sync.
    Cheers,

  • Find the file location of  picture using Photos app?

I could not find the original photo file location anymore using Photos app. Anybody?

I have the same question. In iPhoto I used the Menu command to "Locate in Finder," and if the image had been edited, I would have the choice of locating either the original file or the modified file.
In Photos I see there is a menu item File>Show Referenced File in Finder, but it hasn't been selectable for me from any view I've found so far, so I'm not confident it's even meant to do the same thing. I would like to get to my files outside of Apple's software, do I need to opt out altogether?

  • HT204570 Upload all my photos to iCloud through Photos app.

I always kept my photos in folders instead of the iPhoto library (except for a few hundreds), if I want to upload them all to iCloud, do I have to import them all to (new) Photos app? Will the files be duplicated?
I won't sync those photos between all my Apple devices. I just wanna have a backup of them. I even bought more iCloud space already.
Or is there another way to make an iCloud backup of just photos from my Macbook?
    Should I delete iPhoto app?

No.  If you delete them from your device, they will also be deleted from iCloud.  Back up your photos to your computer as explained here: Import photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your Mac or Windows PC, then you can delete any photos you no longer want to keep on your device.  If you want them on your device later, sync them back using iTunes.

  • How can i set the location of my pictures in photos app for mac osx?

Not every photo I import into my MacBook have all the metadata in them. iPhoto allowed for setting the location, but in Photos I cannot manage to do so. Is there another way to do it or perhaps it's coming with an update?
    Thanks
    MacBook Mid-2010
    OSX Yosemite 10.10.3

Adding location data is not yet supported in Photos.
And we do not know, if future updates will  support this feature. It might help, if you send back feedback to Apple with a feature request. You can use this form:  Apple - Photos - Feedback
As a work-around, use third party apps to add location data before you import the photos to Photos.
You could, for example, first import to iPhoto, add the locations, batch change the titles and captions, do all the things that are not yet supported in the new Photos, then export the photos from iPhoto and import them to Photos.
Or use the free exiftool, if you like the Terminal.
    See:  http://www.sno.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/exiftool_pod.html#geotagging_exampl es
    To install exiftool: http://www.sno.phy.queensu.ca/%7Ephil/exiftool/install.html
Other convenient apps are Jetphoto Studio, Geotagalog, there are many more ..
I use Jetphoto Studio, but it is not free.

  • I receive a failure message when I send a picture through iMessage. What am I doing wrong?

Hi, when I add a picture to iMessage it fails to send.  My message without a picture is successful. Am I doing something wrong?
    Thank you

The iPad manual says this (bolding is mine). It could be possible that you can't send photos with your provider.
    Sending photos, videos, and more
You can send photos, videos, locations, and contact info. The size limit of attachments is
determined by your service provider—iPad may compress photo and video attachments
    when needed.
    Send a photo or video:
    Tap
    Send a location:
    In Maps, tap
for a location, tap Share Location, then tap Message.
    Send contact info:
In Contacts, choose a contact, tap Share Contact (below Notes), then
    tap Message.
Save a photo or video you receive to your Camera Roll album:
Tap the photo or video, tap
    then tap Save Image.
    Copy a photo or video:
Touch and hold the attachment, then tap Copy.
    Save contact info you receive:
Tap the contact bubble, then tap Create New Contact or “Add to
    Existing Contact.”
Add someone to your contacts from the Messages list:
Tap the phone number or email
address, then tap “Add to Contacts.
