Sending audio signal via hdmi and analog concurrently?

I have a TV via HDMI and an AMP via coax connected to my Mac Mini. Is it possible to send the audio signal to both devices concurrently rather than having to change the audio output setting each time I want to switch (because: When I watch TV the AMP is turned off, when I listen to music the TV is turned off).
Thanks in advance for tipps and hints.

Unfortunately the way the hardware is configured, you
can have HDMI audio or have audio output from the
line out jack.  Just the way it is.
One way around it is to get some USB audio adapter
and use it for analog.  Even at that, you will still need
some third party utility to output to both.

  • Is audio output via HDMI and componet cables possible?

When I watch movie I want audio through my TV speakers (via HDMI). That way I can control the volume through my TV remote.
When the TV is off and when I want to listen to music, i want audio to go to my Creative Labs "stereo" via audio component cables.
Is it possible to have both HDMI and audio component cables plugged in at the same time? to different sources and both outputting audio (not at the same time)?
    thanks

Yes, audio will do this video won't.

  • Inspiron 3847 losing video output to HP w2207h via HDMI and Analog upon Restart

I recently purchased an Inspiron 3847 and hooked it up to an HP w2207h monitor by VGA and HDMI. Twice I have installed new software and upon restart I lose all video output. The computer is running, but I am unable to get video to my monitor to use it.
I am not sure where to go from here, as I have hooked up my laptop to the monitor also by VGA and HDMI and the monitor works fine?

    * Turn the Inspiron 3847 and the W2207H off
    * Disconnect the VGA cable from both the Inspiron 3847 and the W2207H
    * This leaves only the HDMI cable connecting the Inspiron 3847 to the W2207H
    * Turn the Inspiron 3847 and the W2207H on. Does anything appear on the W2207H? If yes, allow it to boot all the way into windows
    * When done, restart the Inspiron 3847. What happens?

  • Z77a GD65 simultaneous audio output via digital and analog jack?

    Hi,
Does anyone know if it is possible to use the digital audio spdif out, and the green 3,5mm jack (I use it for my headphones) at the same time?
When I use the digital out, and I run a 'test' with the analog out, I can hear the test signal so technically it should work.
However, I can't find the right settings to actually use both outputs (same source: for instance iTunes) at the same time.
    Any advice? Thanks in advance!
    Regards,
    Jeroen

My old msi cuba 7301 from 2007 has an spdif output, and I was able to use this digital out together with the 3,5mm line out (which I used for my headphones) simultaneously. I understand what you're saying, but I'd say the user should decide in what way he/she wants to use the product  . Technically, it shouldn't be a problem, since I can hit the 'test' button and hear the sounds through my headphones via 3,5mm stereo out, while playing music through the digital out.
Anyone from MSI who knows the answer? If it was possible in 2007...
    Thanks for your answer

  • Send audio signal via wifi?

Is there some way to "transmit" audio from my iMac to an AirPort Express like iTunes does -- except from other sources like movies or slacker.com? I tried posting this to the Leopard discussions and got no response, so I may already know the answer. In which case, why the heck not????

No probs. Glad that does the trick for you

  • Dual Audio Outs? / HDMI and RCA Analog at the same time?

I am trying to figure out if the Apple TV supports dual audio output. My Onkyo receiver supports dual-room/dual-source audio (powered and line-level stereo audio output for 2nd room). The problem is it can only accept an analog source for the second room.
I know that HDMI takes precedence over component video connections if both are connected.
Will the ATV send audio signal out of the HDMI and RCA Analog jacks at the same time so I can enjoy streaming music is two rooms simultaneously?

I like to be a helpful soul, so I decided to pull the owner's manual from Onkyo and take a look at the receiver, without ever thinking about the model number, and come to find out, I have my Apple TV hooked into an Onkyo TX-SR606.
    I appreciate that!

Problem is, I have the HDMI into the Onkyo and the analog outs going to to another stereo receiver for the outdoor speakers. Both work at the same time, which means that the Apple TV will output both digital and analog at the same time.
    Good to know.

Now, let's look at the receiver - if you have the HDMI plugged into the - say DVD input, and it's playing through the main system, and you plug the analog outputs into the DVD analog in on the receiver, the Zone 2 out will automatically look at the HDMI input, and not put out anything to the Zone 2 outs, because it won't pass digital to the Zone 2 outs.
    Oh yeah, that makes sense!

I can't try it tonight, but I think if you plug the analog outputs from the Apple TV to an input that isn't assigned to an HDMI in, (like CD) and then set the Zone 2 amp to play that source, it should work.
I've set aside some "tinkering" time this weekend to try that. I'll let you know if it works; I think it will. Thanks again!

Was just on the phone with Apple about this.
The solution was as follows for me anyway...
    Go to your Finder
    Choose the Go Menu
    Choose Computer
    Choose your Macintosh Hard Drive
    Choose your "Library" Folder
    Choose the "Preferences" Folder
There should be a folder called "Audio"
Move that whole folder to the trash
    Empty the Trash
    Restart from the Apple Menu
    When you are back up and running;
Choose System Preferences from the Apple Menu
         Choose Sound
In the output tab you should now be able to make the HDMI "Sticky"
Enjoy your sound over HDMI and no more dirty knees or broken backs unplugging the desktop speakers!

How many airport express can I add to my network for the purpose of using the airport express to send audio signal to different rooms in the house? I'm interested I'm running about six different zones.
What I'm looking to do is to have self powered in ceiling speakers in every room in my house with out having to run wires to every room to carry the audio signal. I would like to use the airport express to do the job of carting the audio signal.
Here's my set up now I have an airport extreme and one airport express that I use to carry audio to one room.

FWIW. I have used up to four AirPort Express Base Stations (AX) for streaming sucessfully in pretty much the way you have described. I didn't have a need to try more so I can't attest that more would or would not work.

  • I need to have audio out from HDMI and headphone jack simultaneously

I need to have audio out from HDMI and headphone jack simultaneously.
I seem to be able to select one or the other, but not both ? !
    Thanks

No. You can only use one sound output:
Why can't I select HDMI audio on my Mac mini?
If you connect an HDMI display or television to a Mac mini (Mid 2010 or later), you might not be able to select the HDMI audio device (in System Preferences > Sound > Output). This can happen if you also have headphones plugged in to the computer. Unplug the headphones to be able to select HDMI audio.

  • Audio sync problem - simultaneous HDMI and analog output

I'm currently running my audio out through my Geforce 460 via HDMI to my A/V receiver. I have a simultaneous stereo analog output running through my ASUS Xonar D2, using Pulseaudio & Amarok as the player (VLC-gstreamer backend).
I use the HDMI and A/V receiver to power my main stereo in my living room, but on occasion when I want music around the house, I use the analog line out to send audio to an FM transmitter.
The problem is, I'm running into audio sync problems. The audio starts out synchronised (at least to the naked ear) but within 20-30 seconds it is noticeably out of sync, with the analog audio (form my FM radio) running around a half second ahead of the HDMI output (my main speakers).
So - where to begin finding where the sync problem is? The receiver? Conversions between 44Khz and 48Khz?
Any help much appreciated - google-foo hasn't turned up anything obvious so far.

Yeah - that was my thought - a very difficult, and probably insoluble problem as it stands. I can't just mute one of the devices as that would defeat the purpose of having multi-room music! Fortunately it's not too noticeable usually, as you can't usually hear the main stereo and the FM radios at the same time, unless you're standing in the right part of the house
The analog splitter cable not really a goer, since running clean, crisp multi-channel HDMI with pass through when needed is the essential goal of the HTPC. So unless I was to switch inputs and or unplug cables...
What I will end out doing, in the absence of a software solution, is hooking the FM transmitter directly to my receiver. I was going to just use the headphone-out jack of the receiver to feed audio to the FM transmitter, but the stoopid receiver can't output audio to external speakers at the same time as the headphone is plugged. To overcome this, I'll probably run a headphone amp off the receiver's RCA outputs, into the FM transmitter. • 2 different "switchable" audio output (HDMI and analog) with Mac mini

    Hello,
I have a 2010 Mac mini that I use as a media center.  Its hooked up to my HDTV in the living room via HDMI.  I also want to hook up external speakers via the 3.5mm analog jack.  These speakers are in the kitchen.
I would like to get my audio through HDMI when I watch TV and be able to get audio output via 3.5mm jack when I just want to listen to music in my iTunes library.  I like to control my iTunes library with the Remote app on multiple devices.
Is it possible to switch automaticaly the audio output?
Right now I use my Airport Express to stream music from my Mac mini to the speakers but I think that the Airport isn't really needed since it lies just by my Mac mini.  I'm pretty sure the mini can do both.
I've tried to hook the speakers to my Mac mini but first: I hear a "hum" in the speakers (wich I don't hear with the Airport) and second: I can't seem to get the audio out in the speakers.
I've read many posts about the audio midi settings but I can't figure it out...
    Any help?
    Thanks a lot.

I hit post too early... here's the rest of it.

With those apps (or combination thereof)
You can copy an  audio stream from one output to another.
