Sending contacts via SMS

Hi!
I would like to get your expert advice on the issue we are experiencing with our Z10 and Q10 units and this is about sending of contacts/business cards.
We are not sure if it is a network-related thing.  Tested on two different carriers as well with the same result.
The issue is that while BB Q10/Z10 have the facility to share a contact via SMS, it seems to be not working.
We do it by holding a particular contact that we wish to share, then click share icon.
From the options, we choose 'Text Messaging, fill in the 'To' field, enter a message and then press the send button.
While the .vcf is seen to be attached, nothing happens and a red clock icon just appears.
Recipient does not receive the business card.
Is this a known issue on BB10 devices?
Thank you.
MARVIN

Hi manalotomarvin,
When sending a VCard via SMS, the BlackBerry smartphone switches into MMS mode. If MMS service is not enabled for the device, you will not be able to send the VCard.
I would recommend testing the MMS service by sending a photo to another contact via SMS, to see if that will send.  If this fails, I would suggest contacting the wireless network provider, to verify MMS service is enabled.
Thanks.

  • How to send contacts via SMS from Iphone 3g

Hi, anybody knows how to send or forward contacts via sms??

It still does not work with 3.0
You can send your contacts via mms. At least in Europe.
This is not exactly a nice solution.
I tried this, and the person receiving the mms needed to login to a website via browser to get the mms. The Website was done so bad, that it only allowed you to enter while using Internet Explorer.
I was not able to get the mms with any brwoser that works on a Mac.
    Not really a nice solution
Even my first cellphone from over ten years ago was able to perform this task with two clicks.
Sorry for the grawling.. but having the best phone ever, I was wondering if this
will be part of an upgrade soon.

    hi guyz,
i have a problem....when i try to send a contact via messaging on nokia asha 501, the contact is being sent as mms instead of sms......it increases the cost of sending and also if the phone at the receivers end is not a multimedia phone (a basic phone), the contact sent cant be displayed.........so i wanted to ask that if there is any way so that i can send the contacts via only sms instead of mms?......thnx in advance if you have some useful answer

I am also facing big problem due to this issue. I need to send contacts to many people now and then and most of the plp use basic set. So tehy are not able to open mms. Also due to mms my monthly rental charge is getting heavy !! I saw sharing contacts via sms is available in lower end ASHA handsets. This basic feature should be abailable.    any workaround

    Hi pratik1234,
    Welcome to Nokia Support Discussions!
Regarding your concern, the only way that you can send a contact number on the phone is thru sharing it from the contacts icon. This will automatically change the messaging template to a Multimedia Message.

  • How can I receive a vcard (a contact) via sms?

Is there any way I can receive and send vcards (contacts) on my iPhone via SMS, like I used to do on all my non-smart phones?

Thanks for your reply. However, it doesn't solve my problem. Maybe my question wasn't detailed enough. When someone sends me a contact via SMS my iPhone doesn't receive anything, as if it doesn't recognize the format in which the contact was sent. Contacts are sent through SMS as vCards, just like through e-mail, so the phone definitely recognizes the format, it only doesn't "want" to receive through SMS.

  • Treo 800w Sending Pics via SMS/MMS

I recently changed from a Treo 700p (Palm OS) to Treo 800w (Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro) and have noticed that I can no longer send pictures via SMS.  When I click on send my only options are to send to up load to a MS space account or send via email, with the SMS option grayed out.  I really like the ability to do this. Does anyone know if this is just not possible or a way to do this?  I am on an unlimited Sprint plan.
Post relates to: Treo 800w (Sprint)

I contacted my sprint store to return my 800 and the manager who has the 800 walked me through how to do picturemail.
Go to your sprint sowtware store on your phone then
    click on Free/demo
then click picture mail application avialible now
    then download
to send picture u must still go to pics and videos and then hit menu then select send picture mail and then menu agian and select contacs  and go ahead picture mail away
ive tried it and it works fine  I know this works with my print treo i dont know about other service providers
I hope this helps with the frustrations

I would like to send contacts via wireless in vcf format in an e-mail. iPhone doesn't even see the attachment. Is there a special file contact type for iphone?

    I must be more specific:
I am attempting to send a vcf from a Windows Computer using Outlook to another Email account that syncs with an iPhone. When I read the e-mail on the iPhone, I can't see the vcf file. But I can see the contact on outlook as a VCF.

  • Send credentials via sms (http APIs) ISE 1.3 patch 1

    Hi,
I am trying to send the credentials of a guest user via sms, but does not work. I used the following parameters in configuration of the SMS gateway (ISE):
    http://admin:[email protected]/cgi-bin/exec?cmd=api_queue_sms&username=admin&password=admin&destination=$mobilenumber$&api_version=0.08&channel=5&content=
when I run a test in:
ISE: Guest Access--> Configure --> Guest Types --> Contractor --> test SMS
    ...the result is satisfactory
But my sms gateway does not receive any sms, its as if the ISE not send something
    If I put this  http://admin:[email protected]/cgi-bin/exec?cmd=api_queue_sms&username=admin&password=admin&destination=999999991&api_version=0.08&channel=5&content=Mensaje+de+prueba

  • Why can't i send photos via sms text?

Wondering why I can't send photos from my iphone to someone else's phone via sms text. every other phone i've had with a camera could do that. am i doing something wrong?

This doesn't sound very user friendly. I want a phone that's easy to use and doesn't require a ton of work arounds. Everybody else's phone can send and receive pictures just by knowing the other person's phone number.
They don't have to know how to send it via email.
They don't have to know what carrier the other person is using, or whether they switched carriers or not.
They don't have to go to a stupid website to receive a picture that someone sent them - a website that doesn't even work on iPhone, so they have to wait till they get home!
They don't have to tell their friends that because they have a cool new phone, they have to be treated specially so they can have fun too.
It makes iPhone users sound like a bunch of dorks with a phone which can't get pictures like everybody else can. I've been playing with mine for 4 days and it's a really great phone but I've already noticed that my crappy old Blackjack beats the pants off of it for sending pictures around without having to know who someone's cellular company is or what their email address is or whether their phone can send or receive email.

  • Sending contacts via email does not work, Vcards are garbled

When I send a contact via email, it looks like it's going to send a standard vcard, but when it comes through, it's mostly giberish. Am I doing something wrong? Anyone else have this problem?

I'm wondering if there isn't some corruption with the address book database on the iPhone. I have a feeling that if you removed and resync'd contacts it might fix it. I'll check back in tomorrow morning to see what the results of mailing a newly created contact were. I'm being told it's bedtime.

SMS is a text only service and is supported by the iPhone, what you mean is MMS. Currently the iPhone does not support MMS and as Apple do not comment on unreleased products/updates they have not indicated if they will ever add support for this.
So, in the meantime email is the only option. (You cannot use Bluetooth to send pictures either.)

  • Send photo via sms

    Hi,
I need a j2me app. which takes photo from camera phone ( about 2-3kb) and send this photo to other phone via sms ( maybe with 10-20 sms ). is it possible? one photo is 2000-3000 byte and one sms can transfer 160 char. ?

Yes it could be done. But who would want to send a 3K picture and pay about 4 to 8 euros for it?
Also: 160 characters are not 160 bytes. With the most effective encoding, it will give you about 140 bytes per sms. You'll also need some header info to be able to put the image together again.
