Sending DTMF down the line while connected to another mobile

I would like to be able to ring up another mobile.
(My phone can do this ;-)
When i have made the connection to the other mobile load up an application on my phone and then send dtmf tones down the line every 40ms.
I know this can not be done in MIDP1 phones as the KVM is killed when a call is recieved. And i dont think you can start a MIDlet while you are on a call.
So can any of newer phones(MIDP2 with maybe an API) let me do this?
Maybe the a Smart-phone or maybe a phone that will be released soon?
I have not used Symbain yet but you can do a lot more as it is not got Java security features.
Is this impossible on all phones to transmit DTMF down the line when you ring somebody ~( I dont need the phone that has been called to do anything)
Thanks Brian

Hi
I would also like to do this.
What I dont know is if the Pushregistry can detect the network signal of call (voice) connected to start a midlet at that second-
As far as I know this wake up feature for a Midlet to do something is possible in MIdp2
that would be possible
maybe somebody can help us both-:)

No offense intended, it's just that we see thousands of posts where people have different reasons for trying to use a stolen or lost device.

  • My new MacBook Air keeps shutting down the screen while I use it

My new MacBook Air keeps shutting down the screen while I use it and has to be rebooted. I took it in to the Genius desk at my local store, but they couldn't find anything wrong and said that they have never seen this problem before.
I Spoke to the IT support guy at work. He has the same problem with his new MacBook, but not with his older one. He suggested that it is a software issue with all new MacBooks and is connected to the timing of it going into sleep mode. Does anybody have a solution? Apple doesn't seem to have one.

    Try a SMC reset.

  • HT4098 Are the magazines that say free in the store actually free or will I get stung down the line for this

There are magazines and newspapers in the store and they say "free" I have been told this will lead to subscription prices down the line is this true

Unless you choose to subscribe to or purchase something, no, you will not get "stung". However, in most cases what you would be downloading is the app for the magazine which may or may not include a sample issue. you would still need purchase issues or subscribe. Some print subscriptions (such as NatGeo, for example) also include a free digital subscription. Read the app descriptions carefully and check out the In-App Purchases section. There are a handful of publications that are completely free (but these are not the rule).

I updated my Iphone 5s to ios 7.06 yesterday (2014, Feb 27) and i could not access the internet while connected to Wi-Fi.
According to: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398, my IP address is 192.168.xxx.xxx, not 169.254.xxx.xxx!!! How can I fix this?

Reboot your router. The phone is picking out the router address. Unplug it from power for about 15 seconds then turn it back on. While that is happening, on the phone go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings.

  • Always on listener on named instance. Do I have to specify the port while connecting a listener created on a named instance?

    Hi all. Here again.
Scenario: I have to consolidate several physical servers with one SQL server instance install on each one. I decided to consolidate all in one server installing different named instances. In order to avoid application connection string change I had the idea
of configuring different listener pointing to different alwayson group.
To meet this requests, I configured the cluster, I installed a principal SQLServer Instance and configured the alwayson groups with the required listeners.
All ok so far, alwayson is great.
So, I installed a named instance, I configured the necessary alwayson groups and the related listener but...
NOTE: The db in the principal and in the named instance have the same name.
If I connect the listener pointing the ag belonging the named instance I connect to the principal instance!
the only way I have to connect to the named instance is to specify the port that must be different from the 1433 as usual.
Anyway, why I cannot use the 1433 port if dealing with a different ip?
    Listener are the following:
    Named instance
    10.100.21.100 : 1455
    Principal instance
    10.100.21.50  :
    1433
    Thankyou

    Hi all.
I reviewed the architecture installing only named instances and I solved.
Anyway, i'm going to explain better my configuration in order to understand where I went wrong.
I have two servers, SQLCLU01 and SQLCLU02 partecipating to AVSQLCLU cluster
Each server has two SQL instances, the principal SQLPROD and the named instance SQLTEST
Each instance contain the OneToOne database.
I created an AG named AgOneToOneProd laying on the SQLPROD instance with its
OneToOne listener described here down (sys.dm_tcp_listener_states;)
    7 10.100.21.50
    1 1433
    0 TSQL
    0 ONLINE
    2014-05-07 10:23:04.113
    DnsName:OneToOne
    Port:1433
    IpconfigurationFromCluster:('IP Address: 10.100.21.50')
So I tried to create an AG named AgOneToOneTest laying on the SQLTEST named instance with its
OneToOneTest listener but the port 1433 is unavailable even if the listener IP is different. I managed in creating the listener changing the port like this
    7 10.100.21.100
    1 1455
    0 TSQL
    0 ONLINE
    2014-05-07 10:36:05.347
    DnsName:OneToOneTest
    Port:1455
    IpconfigurationFromCluster:('IP Address: 10.100.21.100')
    So, the issue is:
Connecting to OneToOne.mydomain.local i can see the OneToOne database and crud operation are performed against the SQLPROD instance.
But connecting to OneToOneTest.mydomain.local the OneToOne database I'm connected to is still the one belonging to the
    SQLPROD instance.
The only way to let my application connected to the SQLTEST instance is to specify the port in the DSN.
Anyway, summary here, issues are bolded
    OneToOne.mydomain.local -------> SQLPROD
    OneToOneTest.mydomain.local -------> SQLPROD
    OneToOneTest.mydomain.local,1455 -------> SQLTEST
    The same by IP
    10.100.21.100,1455 --------> SQLTEST
    10.100.21.100 --------> SQLPROD
    and.....
    10.100.21.100,1433 --------> SQLPROD
May be... Do I missed some best practices in creating listeners against a principal + named instances?
    Thankyou
    Stefano

  • G4 freezes while connecting to another Mac over the network

This is a mirror-drive, Dual 1GHz PowerPC G4, 1.25 GB RAM. It was recently repurposed as a hand-me-down when we upgraded. We cleaned it up and reinstalled everything. It connects to the internet just fine. Other computers can find it on the network and connect to it just fine. When I try to connect from this G4 to any other Mac on the network, I can find the other computers and I get the login popup, but when I put in the password and click OK, I get the color-wheel that never goes away. I have to power it off and try again.
This computer has been a work-horse for several years and has been on our network with no problems. This has just popped up since we moved it to a different desk.
One side note, we did upgrade our network recently, but none of the other Macs (including 2 other G4's) are having this problem.
    thoughts? suggestions?
    thanks.

What version of the Mac OS is the MDD running?
This has just popped up since we moved it to a different desk.
If that involved unplugging the computer from the wall, then a dead or weak PRAM battery may have let the computer lose something that it needs for the task. How old is the battery and how much time has the G4 spent off wall power in the last few years? If your firm requires unplugging computers at night (some do now in an effort to be more "green"), then the battery is surely dead by now.

  • Why no Alt-Tab functionality (true last active, not just up or down the line)?

I see the keyboard shortcuts for moving up and down the open tabs (ctrl-shift-tab and ctrl-tab) and the go direct to a numbered tab etc...
what I really want is a last tab function that if pressed repeatedly would simply take you back and forth between the last two tabs. Such that if I have 8 tabs open and am presently on tab 7 and then switch to tab 4, then I press this keyboard shortcut it would take me directly back to 7. If pressed again it would go back to 4. etc.
Take filling out a tax form or something as an example. I've got my browser open, several pages on tax help, tax code, and the like along with one with my paystub info and one that I am entering data into. I repeatedly need to bounce back and forth between the tab with the info on it (paystub) and the tab with the data entry on it.
I suppose one could workaround by only having the two desired tabs open in the browser window or by having two browser windows open with each needed page, but this is such ingrained function (alt-tab in windows goes directly between your last two open applications no matter how many you have open) that it just seems very natural to want browser tabs to only go back and forth between the last two as well.
really think this should be developed...seems simple (from an uneducated POV) and serves a definite purpose.
    thanks.

    Thanks, that works great.
FYI I came across that several times, however none of them made it clear that the desired behavior was understood and that this was the actual fix for it.
Thanks again and for those wondering - this does actually make ctrl-tab behave as normal windows alt-tab does....can't believe I've gone so long without this frustrated by every time I hit alt tab wanting to change tabs and changing applications instead.
this is great...thanks firefox (still think this should be default instead of the climb up and down the open list of tabs)

  • Is there any way to charge an iPod Touch while connected to another device?

I'm using an iPod Touch connected to a pico projector (which is plugged into the wall), which of course limits the time I can run a presentation to the battery life of the iPod. Is there *any way* to charge the iPod while the connection port is in use (or otherwise connect it to A/C power)? I'm looking for any and all workarounds, though connecting it to a computer as a go-between is not an option. I'm using the Microvision SHOWWX pico projector, if it makes a difference. Thanks!

Aha - this Composite video a/v cable solved my problem. Not sure why I had such difficulty finding this solution. http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC748ZM/A

  • Spotify Connect - "Sorry! Can't play this content while connected to another device"

From Android to PC/Spotify-enabled unit. The Android app refuses to start a song of my choosing. It gives the error message in the title. It will, however, let me start a playlist and Connect it over to the PC. The Next/Prev buttons work, and I can choose any song I like out of the Play Queue. But if I click on any song directly in the playlist, it yields this error. The reverse is not true. Going from PC to PC, or from PC to other device does not give a similar error. The error persists over reboots and arises in every possible configuration and state of the device. Whether my account is already playing something or not has absolutely no impact whatsoever. I'm not trying to play local files either. The error also arises regardless of which unit I am trying to Connect to (I have tried 3 computers and a Spotify-enabled radio, all of which worked just a couple of days ago). The workaround of Connecting back to the "host" unit, changing songs, then setting Connect back to the unit I want to do the playback is pretty ugly...

Turns out if was a sync issue. Forced resync of the affected device solved the problem.

  • How does one tone down the power pack connect 'beep'

When my S10 Netbook is already powered on (battery operation) and I connect the power pack, it emits a beep that's loud enough to wake the dead. Is there a way to tone it down?

Follow the arrow > on the right, after Mic Volume, there is the option PC Beep.

  • (MacBook / No FireWire) What are people here going to do down the line ?

I hope not to turn this into a rant about the new MacBooks. Rather I just wanted the musicians side of things...
I know that there is lots of talk in the MacBook forums about the new MacBook's lack of FireWire but as a fellow musician I was hoping to get other musician's (Logic Pro 8 users) perspective on the situation.
I've been using my iMac for about 5 years and I was planning to purchase my 1st MacBook in January and retire the iMac to other non-music chores.
Why? .....my wife bought herself an iMac about a year ago (Nov 2007) and I've fallen in love with her computer. I have not loaded Logic 8 on her machine but I have used GarageBand on it and it works great so I would assume I would get good performance on it with Logic 8.
But, now that the new MacBooks don't have FireWire and my connections (audio, hard disks, video cameras etc.) to my iMac via FireWire, I've decided not to buy a new MacBook.
    options
    1. I still like doing music on my iMac. Maybe I'll just keep it as my music computer
    2. Ask my wife to trade? (not going to happen)
    3. Buy a MacBook Pro? Thats a lot of extra money that if I had I would rather spend on something that would make my music really "sound" better (better mic, better Guitar, better mic preamp etc). After all, those things will last forever, a computer has a limited lifespan.
    4. Switch to a USB interface and get the new MacBook? I have a FireBox interface now that I really like although I have been using a external mic preamp that made my audio sound quite a bit better.
What would you all do? Or better, what WILL you do when it comes time for you to need a new notebook computer with FireWire.
    ideas?

This is a good thread with information that may be useful to you:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1802741
With all due respect to Marceldada, I would not recommend buying one of those white macbooks. Although they price is right, you want to get the best and fastest machine you possibly can, or you are going to have performance issues with Logic and grow out of the machine sooner. The newest model 'unibody' 2.1ghz Macbook actually gets faster benchmarks than the 2.4ghz previous generation Macbook (yes, I typed that in right, the 2.1 is FASTER than the previous gen 2.4), so that white previous generation 2.1 Macbook they're still selling on the MB page is going to be significantly slower than any other Mac laptop you can get now.
I'm not totally convinced that USB is terrible for Audio interfaces - there seem to be some nice ones out there if you just want something with a couple of ins and outs. Get a 7200 speed internal HD, and you can record several tracks of audio onto that with no problems.
If you're wanting to do really heavy Logic work and lots of multi track recording, you should spring for the MBP anyway. The Macbook Pro's are amazing machines, and that 2 inches more on the screen in my opinion is worth its weight in gold. Also keep in mind that you will recoup some of the added expense that you put into a newer and better spec'd machine when you resell it. Even if you bought one of the black or white Macbooks brand new now, the silver one will still hold its value better because it is newer technology. And that certainly holds true for the MBP's too. The more you spend now, the more it will be worth when you sell.
If you do want firewire and definitely don't want a MBP, I would look at the refurbished and clearance machines on Apple's website, or check out some Apple retail stores who may still have some of the older black and white Macbooks they're trying to get rid of.
    http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/specialdeals/mac?mco=MTMzNTY
I think getting a refurbished or clearance model 2.4 black or white Macbook (or a refurbed previous generation Macbook Pro, which you can get for cheaper than the current silver Macbook) is a much better deal than the low end whitebook they're still selling new. If there is a university near you, check out their bookstore. I was just in a university bookstore two days ago, and the were selling the 2.4ghz blackbook for $999, and the 2.4 whitebook for $949. That's cheap, and a pretty fast machine!
    Good Luck!

  • The Note 4 slows down the wifi when connected, constant data transfer.

The Note 4 locks up our wifi with excessive data traffic, our S5 phones do not do this. What should we look at in settings, apps, etc to fix this. It cannot be connected to wifi in its current state!

WiFi is a great resource and I want to be sure that you can use yours successfully with your Note 4, Gahwrv. What kind of router are you connecting to? When connected to WiFi are you unable to use data at all or is the connection slow? If you go to Settings>WiFi>Select Menu icon>Advanced is Smart Network switch enabled? If so, please try disabling it and testing your connection.
