Sending E-Mail From the IPHONE

Hi All. I am a newbie and need help. I want to send email from the IPHONE. Can I do this?
I get into my hotmail account and see my e-mails. They are all listed there but screens look different fom PC. I can't figure out how to open a new e-mail and I responded to some emails on the screen and the people never got them. Is this what you are supposed to do? Do I need a different e-mail account than hotmail? I thought the phone was like a PC. Help Please.

The iPhone can tap into any POP or IMAP accounts.
You didn't fully say how you are getting to Hotmail email.
Are you browsing to http://hotmail.com ?
If so, then you are just on the web accessing the web pages for hotmail. Usage and support for the Hotmail website is up to Microsoft.
If you have a paid account at Hotmail then they allow POP access (other services like Yahoo, gMail, etc offer it for free). If you do pay for Hotmail, then they should of given you the POP settings that you plugged into the *Email Application* of the phone. In that case, the new email icon is just in the bottom right hand corner when in the Mail Application. Replying and forwarding is pretty straight forward.

Yup. So you need to use 2 different outgoing Servers. one for when you are on 3G and one for wifi connection
Your 3G outgoing SMTP server will be the server provided by your mobile carrier.. For example I have Telus and my outgoing server for sending mail on 3G is smtp.telus.net. Contact your provider to get this info..
When you are connected to your wifi. use your ISP's or Google's SMTP server. This will allow you to send email either way.
To add more than 1 outgoing SMTP server do this:
Settings > Mail, contacts, calendars > Select the email account from the list > Select SMTP > you will see the Primary server in that list. > click on Add server. Enter the SMTP address in the Host name section. you shouldn't need a username/password
Then hit save
it will attempt to setup the settings. It may also prompt you to "Setup without using SSL" You want to hit yes. it might ask twice.
After a few minutes it should get setup with both servers for that mail account. I have this setup on my phone as well as my dad's at his home.

Why am I unable to send e mails from my iPhone, and get message rejected by server and message put in outbox. I have tried changing server ports but to no avail. I am not very technically minded so any suggestions in laymans terms please. This is a big problem as I work away frequently and need to answer e mails. This also happens when at home and on my own wifi.

Sending e-mails from my iPhone

For the last few days I have not been able to send e-mails from my iPhone. I get the error message, "connecting to the outgoing server "null" failed". I use Yahoo Mail. I am still receiving e-mails without a problem and all my mail folders are being updated. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to fix this? I have used this function successfully for months so I don't know what is suddenly causing a problem.

For first approach to any issue, reboot.
A reset/reboot is:
Go to Home Screen
Press and Hold Home Button
Keep holding and press and hold Lock Button
Keep holding Both
You will see Slide to Turn Off (Don't let go to slide, just keep holding)
The phone will turn off (in time, but screen will look like it has some white lines)
Keep Holding
When you see the Apple Logo, you can let go.
Turning off via the Slide to Turn off while good and fine to turn off, is more like the Sleep Mode on a computer. Thus any locked up issues in memory remain when you turn back on. A reboot as described is like doing a real Turn off and Turn On on a computer.

First i have to create an rdf file and that rdf file i want to send as an attachment through mail from the apps.

My @me emails don't push and I can't send @me mails from the phone

Hi all, for the at least the fourth time since I've had it my 3G iphone has stopped receiving push mobile me emails.
I also can't send emails out from the @me address on the phone (although I can do perfectly from my MBP)
Is this a common problem? is ther any fool proof way of fixing it? Are there any settings I should double check?
The account was set up by my mac when I first synced it to the phone, I have reset all the mail account settings using the tick box in itunes.

Sending has never been a problem with my MM account, which is a former .Mac account that I accessed with my first generation iPhone for over a year and for the last 6 months with my iPhone 3G. I prefer not accessing my MM account via push for email - automatically fetching every 30 minutes is fine with me as there is never any email sent to me so important that I need to be notified and the message delivered as soon as the message is recieved at the incoming mail server, so I can't comment on push access not working properly.
I suggest deleting and manually recreating the account with the iPhone's mail client - disable including the account settings being transferred to your iPhone via the iTunes sync process followed by deleting and manually re-creating the account with the iPhone's mail client.

You can set a default email address here:
Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > underthe Mail section - Default Account.
Any email you start will use this account by default but you can change this manuall by tapping the email address in the From field. That whill bring up a dial to select the email address you want to send from.

My bellnet.ca business account will not send e-mails from my iphone

I can recieve e-mails from my bellnet.ca business account but I cannot send them. This is posing a big problem as it is a business phone and I need to be able to respond when I am not at my computer. Please help?

Was it once working and then failed, or has it never worked?
When you try to send mail, do you get an error message, or does the message just sit in the outbox?
What steps have you already take to resolve this, and what results have you achieved?
For example, did you check with bellnet.ca administrators or knowledgebase to see what the proper outbound SMTP server address and settings are, then verify the contents of Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > {bellnetaccount} > Account > Advanced > Mail > Outgoing Mail Server > SMTP > Primary Server > {servername} match that?
(Yes, those settings are buried deep and hard to find at this point. It would have been easier to set them on the initial creation of the account.)

I get that every once in a while on my 3GS, and that's what I do to get rid of it. Probably not a bad idea to power down the phone every so often, anyway, gets rid of any crud waiting to cause a bug.

Invoice output triggered once but sending multiple mails from the output

Hello Experts,
Need your help with a tricky issue in our system.
We have an output type defined to send invoice output as email. Lately we have an issue with this.
If we trigger the output in foreground it works fine. But when we create the invoices from batchjob it is triggering multiple emails for the same invoice. When we check the output in invoice it was triggered only once. Even in NAST also we have only one entry for these invoices. This issue is happening randomly not for all the invoices created through batch.
To nailed down the issue we have added code to update the application log in the output program. It wil update the application log in SLG1 transaction when ever the output program was called. Surprisingly even for the cases where the mail triggered multiple times we have only one entry in the log. It means even though the mail sent multiple times, it is calling the output porgam only once.
We are not able to replicate this issue even after mulitple trails.
Please suggest how we can find the root cause for this issue. All the ideas are welcome.

The problem could be in SO_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1 or in the program called to send the mail
SO_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1 places the mail in SOST (how many messages you can see there?)
If you see only one message the problem could be in the program to send the mail

Can you send e-mail from the same account on your computer?
When you try to send e-mail from iphone to you get an error message?
What is the message?
Do you have a connection to the internet (edge, 3g, wi-fi)?
