Sending email from other location via WiFi

Hi there. My Ipad is working fine. At home with the wireless no problems at all. But outside when I use another WiFi (work, hotel etc) I have a problem sending emails. Receiving no problem but when I send one it keeps on trying to send it but to no avail. How do I fix this? Adrian

The fix I recommend to my friends is to subscribe to
http://www.authsmtp.com/
It costs a few pounds a year and works anywhere in the world (in my experience). Saves a lot of time for a traveller.
Good UK based support as well.

For some reason I cannot send email - all was working fine, but now I get the following error message when I try to send email:
'The sender address (my email address) was rejected by the server smtp.tiscali.co.uk'
I can receive incoming mail ok and I can send email from other Apple devices. The problem seems confined to my Mac Book Pro.
    Ant ideas?

  • Problem sending emails from other wifi points

Been away for christmas for  few days.
Tried sending emails from various other wifi locations but they wouldn't send. However on coming home it went straight away, any ideas?
When using these other wifi points I could download emails andaccess the internet.
    Cheers

After much research and help (on another site forum!) it turns out this is a BTYahoo! mail fault affecting many BT accounts (in the UK at least). Why they are messing accounts around I don't know.
If anyone finds they can't send via a BT account just find another server and enter their details and all will work again - as I've discovered after a day trawling the ether!

  • Re: Can't send emails from home location - Outlook 2003

The same thing is happening for me!! If I send a message from home using Thunderbird I get the error message that smtp is not available. When doing the same thing from work, also using Thunderbird, the message goes through without a problem. This just started happening this morning.BTW, I am in Saratoga, California.Stefano

Thanks, I switched on SSL, which enabled port 465 and all is well.
Why wasn't I notified of this change and had to scramble to find out that a bunch of other people were also affected ?
    Best,
    Stefano
You should have received an email in your Primary email address.  The roll out of the change began back in November for some, but not all Users.  It is continuing to be rolled out now too.  Considering the number of Comcast customers that had been using Port 25, it does not surprise me if youir email fell through the cracks.

  • Sending email from Outlook Express via Parallels

Outlook Express works just fine for receiving emails, but I can't get it to send an email. Is there something special I should look for. I use earthlink.net.

This is most likely due to a misconfigured SMTP sever setting. Most ISP's force you to authenticate to the SMTP server, if your using a different account for receiving then you are for sending this may be it. I've also seen where an Anti-Virus software is blocking port 25, SMTP, out to prevent the spread of worms. This is most likely not a problem with Parallels or the Mac but mis configured email client.

  • Can't send email from my iPhone...

I am having problems sending email from my iPhone via my ISP and the ISP at work. I can send email through my personal domain from these places using my Mac laptop but not via the iPhone.
Settings for the ISP should be SSL Off for both directions [incoming/outgoing] Authentication: Password and a strange config. for username:
username+mydomain.com not just username and with the + symbol and not the @ I have entered the address correctly and I get Cannot Send Mail
Sending contents of the message to the server failed.
    I have also tried:
mail.mydomain.com:567 and :2525 and :465 and all return similar errors
I should mention that I'm able to send mail to the phone and retrieve it successfully but not send from it.
I've tried changing the Uses SSL for Outgoing and still no love. I have verified with my ISP that everything is correct and yet I am still unable to send email from the iPhone.
Any suggestions or troubleshooting tips are greatly appreciated. My ISP is Site5 as well.

Yeah, I read the Apple Tech Doc where it described how to add the port number so I tried 587, 465 and 2525 at the request of my hosting company's Forum userbase. All suggestions were attempted including converting the account on Site5 to IMAP and all tests resulted in no mail being sent and a cryptic error message with no useful details as to why the mail was not able to be delivered [like an error code or something useful]. I too am hoping that Apple says or does something about this in the near future.
Usernames for my ISP must be formatted like so:
    username+domain.com
I'm not sure if that's part of the problem but I've been successful at creating accounts for multiple mail clients including GyazMail for Mac, Thunderbird and several other mail clients but for the life of me, I can't get the iPhone to send a single bit of information via SMTP.
Any assistance or news on this front would be greatly appreciated.

  • TS3899 Why Can't I send emails from iPad when I am overseas. I live I Australia

I live in Australia and when I go overseas I cannot send emails from my ipad2 using wifi. Have no trouble receiving than. HELP PLEASE

Check the outgoing mail server setting. Make sure that your username and password are in there.
Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Account>Outgoing mail server - tap the server name next to SMTP and check in the primary server and make sure your username and password are entered and correct - even if it says that the password is optional.

  • Sending email from any medium to appear in Mail

I used to have a gmail account let's call it xyz. Whenever I sent emails from xyz using gmail or from my iPhone, I would always see my sent emails in my inbox of Mail on my Macbook. I loved this because it allowed me to see a history of conversations without interruptions in Mail.
Now, I changed main email address to another gmail account called abc. Now, when I send emails from other mediums such as gmail itself or iPhone, I do not see those sent emails in my inbox of Mail on my Macbook.
What can I do to make this feature come back again?
    Thanks,

    Yes is possible,
Go to your carrier web page, log in on your account,  go to setup blackberry email, and edit the account, now you have the option to do it.

  • Cannot send email from pop account when in 3G, will send in WIFI

I cannot send email from pop account when in 3G, will send in WIFI.
I thought it was the SMTP server first.. but when i config my WIFI, suddenly the emails that i tried to send, left my outbox and sent.
    Any idea's

The SMTP server you are using with Wi-Fi would be the outgoing server of your internet service provider... this is likely why that's working.
SMTP servers specific to a ISP would not work on the 3G network. You would probably need another SMTP server. One from your cell provider?

I can't send emails from iPhone until I connect to my wifi at home. I am with bigpond and have a bigpond email address. Can anyone help me?

Try closing the Mail app completely and see if it works properly when you re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

I have a 1st gen iPhone that I just updated the software to 2.0.2
Now whenever I press the mail icon it goes to the mail app for about 4 seconds, does nothing, no loading of folders, old messages, nothing.
Then it reverts back to the home screen. Tried restarting, haven't tried restoring, thought I'd look here first.

  • On 3G we cannot send emails from either our iPhones or iPad and this also happens with some WiFi connections but not all.  Yet we can always send emails from our Hotmail Email account.  What is causing this and what do we need to do to resolve it?

On 3G we cannot send  Business emails from either our iPhones or Ipad and this also happens with some WiFi connections but not all.  Yet we can always send emails from our Hotmail Account using both 3G and WiFi.
We bought the iPhones and Ipad so that we could send emails while we are out of the Office, but we are not able to do this unless we can find a WiFi connection. Incoming emails are fine.  We use IMAP, for Business emails just incase this is relevant and I know that Hotmail is POP3.
Our technical IT knowledge is not great, so we look forward to your suggestions as to how to resolve this.

Contact whomever supports the email account and get the correct Outgoing email server settings from them.

  • TS3899 Sending emails from some WI-FI locations

I can send and receive emails in most WI-FI's yet once in a while I have trouble sending emails from some WI-FI locations, even though I can receive all emails and everything else works 100% too.  If I leave this WI-Fi and if I were to go to an Apple store for example, it will then send all emails in Outbox that will not send from this WI-FI .
What setting prevents sending emails from the few WI-FI!s that emails do not work.

    You're welcome.
Please answer the question - is the account's SMTP server authenticated with the account's user name and password?
Regardless, this has nothing whatsoever to do with the iPhone and once again, receiving email and sending email with an email client are completely separate processes. All ISPs block the use of SMTP servers that are outside of their network or not provided by the ISP being used for your internet connection at the time unless the SMTP server is authenticated. This is part of an overall effort to prevent spam eminating from the ISP's domain. Rarely if ever is there any restriction on receiving email regardless the ISP being used for your internet connection.
The email account provider associated with the few wi-fi networks with the problem may restrict the sending of email with any SMTP server regardless if the SMTP server is authenticated.

Sometimes deleting the account and then re-creating it can solve this issue
Write down all the information in accounts before doing this
Highlight the account on the left and click the minus button
Then click the plus button to add the new account and follow the prompts

3rd party email addresses have to be deleted on every synmced mac product, although I have 1and1.co.uk and my imac updatetes the mails in that account from mac mail.
Yahoo etc is a 2 step deleting process but good to get your emails pushed when on the go.
