Sending email issues

Question

I am receiving emails fine, but not able to send.
My info is as follows...
Carrier: Bell Mobility
Email: Shaw
POP ACCOUNT INFO:
Name: My name
Address: [email protected]
Description: Shaw
INCOMING MAIL SERVER:
Host Name: pop.shaw.ca
User Name: emailaddy
Password: ********
OUTGOING MAIL SERVER:
SMTP: mail.1xbell.ca
> +(next page)+
Server: On
Host Name: mail.1xbell.ca
Use SSL: Off
Server Port: 25
When it attempts to verify it pops up with:
"The SMTP server "mail.1xbell.ca" is not responding. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the "Outgoing Mail Server" field.
Network connection is ok and I am unsure if info is correct.
Any insight would be GREATLY appreciated! I am at my wits end.

I too have the same issue, and have been using the same workaround.
The problem lies in the fact Bell will not allow you to send while connected to someone else's network, and same applies to Shaw's servers. Basically, it boils down to having to choose your SMTP server based on the connection you have. It's a pain in the rear to switch servers than to switch off the wifi, so that's how I've been doing it, but at a cost to my data plan on Bell.
To date, I cannot say I've seen anything from Apple which allows for this.
