Sending Email with current IP address in it

I have done scripting in LotusScript for Lotus Notes. When I was younger, I did BASIC, Pascal, Assembler. I am trying to figure out Applescript and how it relates with each application.
Currently, I am trying to create an Applescript which will, upon a receipt of an email from a particular user (me) and a particular subject, would send an email back to the user with the current external IP address of my machine. I already have the "hard" part of getting the IP from a script created by Koert Bonte but modified by me:

Now, I can create a rule in Mail to look for my name and subject, what I have not been able to figure out is how to send either a new message back with the IP address or a reply back with same. I would like to see examples of both .

With Applescripts called from Mail rules you need to use 'on perform mail action' to get the list of messages that triggered the rule. This needs to be in a 'using terms from application "Mail"' block so the processor will understand what 'on perform mail action' means. Generally you would loop through the list of messages (it will be a list even if there is only one iten in it).
So you would wrap a Mail rule script in something like:

I used a handler called fetchIP to call the machine's IP. Note this is similar, but different to yours. Then make a message in Mail with the subject 'MyIP' and the body of the message as the IP. Then add the recipient as the sender of the message which triggered the rule. Finally send the message.
To add the contents of the original message take a look at Mail's Applescript dictionary for 'content'.

I now use iCloud (was MobileMe.) When I send an email or reply to someone's email, I don't want them to see the me.com address. I want them to see my domain email name. Through the place I bought the domain, I have it set up to send all mail to my me.com address, so there's no server info, etc. It just forwards everything to my me.com address. So using the panel in system preferences to set up a new mail account doesn't help becuase it wants the outgoing mail server, etc.
In Outlook or other mail programs, I used to look for a setting that said "reply to" and put in whatever I wanted. Is there something simple like this in iCloud?

Thanks - that sems to have worked.
I set up my business account in my BB, made it the default in my phone so that email always say they are coming from my business account, then went to the Web through T-mobile to set up the filter so that this account does not receive email. I haven't seen any dups yet on my phone.
I will let the tmobil folks know.

Use BCC. That's blind carbon copy. And copy paste the address into the BCC field. It really depends what e-mail program you use how to enable BCC.

I am using Mail 5.3 with two separate gmail addresses. One is personal the other is business. When I send emails from the business address, any auto-replies I get COME TO THE PERSONAL INBOX. I imagine that this is a setting? Please help!

Edit the SMTP server list. Add a new one for the business account. Put the correct password and information for it. Give it a description so you will know which server is which. Mke sure the correct server is highlighted in the account selected and check the box to use only that server for that account. Do that for the other account also.

i found out how to do this finally!
1) set up google gmail account to forward your emails to (from the [email protected])
2) go to your gmail account
3) go to settings (cog in right hand corner)
4) go to 'accounts and import'
5) go to 'send mail as'
6) click 'Add another email address you own' - add your [email protected] address
7) google will send a verification email with code to that email address.
8) enter code
9) go back to gmail account >'send mail as' and select 'make default'
10) close mac 'mail' program and reopen it.
as long as you have gmail account selected as the primary account in MAIL - mail will now come throught as being sent from that [email protected] address!!

It's probably quite simple, and nothing to do with your Address Book group.
It is a matter of 'junk mail' or 'spam' filtering on the recipient end, I think.
1. Apparently not everyone in your Address Book group (12 of 15 apparently?) has your current email address among their 'permitted email addresses', so, your original email message ends up in their 'junk mail' or 'spam filter' or whatever it is called by their email provider. Some businesses and schools also filter incoming messages for subject, language, content, or by sender's address (one company I dealt with prohibited all incoming email from Hotmail, for example), so it could be filtered at that level. In that case, the recipient might have to specifically ask the IT department to add your email address to a 'permitted' list.
2. When someone else in the group hits 'reply all', THEIR email address IS among the 'permitted email addresses' for everyone else, and they are in effect 'forwarding' your message from their email address, so the filtering affecting your email address does not affect their re-sending of your message.

Cannot send email to one particular address

I've lost the ability to send emails to my work email address, it seems to have stopped working in the last 30 days or so. I can receive emails from the work address to my personal address, but sending from the personal address to work doesn't work. The emails are not returned as undeliverable. I have Verizon FIOS as my provider, I have tried sending email to my work address from their web email interface and it works fine, so the problem lies in Thunderbird. Anyone have an idea what has happened? I'm not having an issue sending or receiving to any other address.

When you right click on the account name in the folder tree and select settings. On the bottom right is the outgoing SMTP server for the account. Is it what your think it is?

The outgoing mail address is to my work email, it's @us.ibm.com, I checked the SMTP server name, it is outgoing.verizon.net which is correct.
You're right about Verizon support, once I was able to send via their web interface, they were pretty much done with me....and I pay for that support too...
This is probably going to end up being something simple, at least i hope so, but at the moment it's very frustrating...

Is there any problem to use multiple threads to send email with JavaMail

I am using JavaMail 1.3.2 to send emails with SMTP, it works very well for a long time.
But one day, I found that the email service hanged and I could never send email again until I restart the tomcat. I found that the reason was a deadlock had been created, the required resource for sending email had not been released.
I guess the error is due to multiple threads are sending email at the same time. I made a test to create seperate thread for sending each email. After few days, I found this deadlock happened again. So, my question is: Can I use JavaMail with multiple threads? If not, I may need to sychronized all the thread that using JavaMail. I would like to make sure this is the reason for causing the deadlock problem.
Here is part of my code for using JavaMail:

It seems that these happened after call the method transport.sendMessage() or message.updateChanges()
, and the underlying implementation may require the JRE StandardCharsets object. But the object had been locked and never be released. So, the sendMessage() or updateChanges() can't be completed.
Please give me some helps if you have any idea about it.

Note that the Nightly build gets updated daily (and sometimes more than once in case of a respin) and it is always possible that something goes wrong and it doesn't work properly, so be prepared for issues if you decide to stay with the Nightly build and make sure to have the current release with its own profile installed as well in case of problems.

Sending emails with both body and attachment to multiple recipients

I have a requirement to send email with body and attachment to multiple recipients.
Body of the email is a standard text. It is a proxy-to-mail scenario.
Here is what I've done: (I'm using PI 7.11)
One mapping from Source to Target structure (format of the attachment text file)
Second mapping from Target Structure to Mail Package format.
In the second mapping I'm concatenating the output of first step into "Content" of the Mail Package.
"XIPAYLOAD" is the message protocol used.
The "Keep attachments" option in the Mail adapter allows only to send "Content" as attachment or as body of the email.
How to send an email with both content and text?
The other problem is even with using ASMA, I can't send email to multiple recipients. I can only do CC and TO for 1 person each - a total of 2. Although I can resolve this by creating mailing lists, it is better if this can be addressed in PI.

For the first question, I was able to find the solution in the following blog:

(I just needed to search with the right set of key words )
The key is to set the "Content Encoding" as "None" in the mail adapter. If this is not done, the mail will be sent with an attachment - untitled.bin containing both the mail body and the attachment text. Also, don't forget to check the "Keep Attachments" checkbox in the mail adapter.
Multiple recipients could be added by separating the email IDs with a Comma. I have used ASMA to set the recipients.

Can't send emails from a btinternet address unless connected to a WiFi network

I am a UK user with an iPhone 5 and Vodafone as my ISP. After installing IOS 7 both gmail and btinternet addresses continued to work well until I upgraded to IOS 7.0.2 since when while I have been able to receive emails with a btinternet address I cannot send when not connected to a WiFi network and 3G makes no difference - gmail will still receive and send however.
Does anyone have a solution please?

Really hard to diagnose without being there, but check with your friend that they don't have any softward filters on wireless router that block ports etc. If it's not your friends wireless, it could be something much more simple like needing to just restart your ipad to reset settings. Good Luck!

Hi im Trying to send a file as attachment using EMail Activity operator.

TS3276 Mac Mail won't send emails with signatures

My Mac Mail won't send emails with signatures. I get the "whoosh" sound and they show in sent mail, but the recipient doesn't receive them until I take off the signature and resend the email. Without a signature, it is received. It never used to be a problem, but started this past month. Please advise!

Did Earthlink have you try using their authenticated SMTP server?
If not, try changing Earthlink's SMTP server settings to the following:
SMTP Server: smtpauth.earthlink.net
Server Port: 25 or 587. Assuming Earthlink is your ISP, 25 should work.
Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL): Off or not selected.
Authentication Type: MD5 Challenge-Response. Not sure if this authentication type is available with 10.2 and if not, select Password.
User Name: Your entire Earthlink email address.
Password: The password for your Earthlink email account - the same password used to check the incoming mail server for new messages.
