Sending emails from overseas using Thunderbird

I use Thunderbird as my email client in POP mode (if that's the right word, I prefer to have the emails downloaded locally so I can access them when not on-line)
I am currently in France. I can access my emails using BTYahoo Mails, both send and receive. I can also download my received emails to my Thunderbird local Inbox. However, when I try to send from Thunderbird I get the message "Login to server mail.btinternet.com failed".
I believe this is due to some form of security setting on the BT Server. I have experienced the problem in previous years, but when I was in Spain earlier this year there was no problem so I had assumed BT had removed their restriction. Obviously my assumption was incorrect!
Whilst I can still use BTYahoo Mail, it is not completely satisfactory as I seem to be unable to import my contact groups listings. (I can import individual contacts but not the groups of addresses I have defined in Thunderbird). Also, I am unsure how to download the BTYahoo Mail Sent Folder to my Thunderbird local folders
Any suggestions as to how to overcome these issues would be appreciated!

Hi.
Although surprising you could send from Spain without issue, it is usually the case that ISPs block access to their mail servers unless connected via their IP addresses.
See my shortcuts (link below), option 0d/h, to try the yahoo server address for the smtp settings. This usually works "at home", so may work whilst abroad.

Sending email from Lr4 with Thunderbird

Can anyone provide some help for sending email from Lr4 with Thunderbird as the email program. When I select a photo and right-click Email Photo... I get the email photo dialog box with Mozilla Thunderbird in the From drop down. I click Send, and then I get an error message that says "There is no email program associated to perform the requested action. Please install an email program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel."
Well, it seems as thigh Lr has Thunderbird in the From drop down, it knows an email program exists. Thunderbird is set as the default. I'm not sure what associations I am supposed to make (.eml and .wdseml are the default extensions, MAILTO is the default protocol, and Send mail is the default MAPI).
Ay clues or hints?

My default mail program is Thunderbird, and it works OK with Lightroom. If you are on a Windows 7 PC, go to Control Panel and check this out.

Unable to send email from Mac using Outlook for Mac 2011

I have a single user that cannot send email from the Mac after migrating to Exchange 2013 on-prem. I myself am on the same Exchange server and am using a Mac with Office 2011 and am able to send/receive emails without any issues.
When the user sends an email it goes to the sent mail folder and syncs with the server and can be seen on a windows machine running any other version of Office (same in OWA). I've logged the user in on my Mac and blown away my profile and seeing the same issue.
Not sure if this narrows my issue down to the Exchange server receiving the send request from a Mac or if it's some setting in Outlook on the Mac?
I do not see anything in the logs on the server and have not seen any error son the Mac.
Any thoughts as to where my issues is?

According to your description, I find that there is a single user cannot send email.
I suggest using Outlook on Windows machine and sending emails via this single user to verify whether the emails can be sent.
If the single user can send email via Outlook on Windows machine, it seems an issue on the Mac side.
I suggest asking Outlook for Mac Forum for help so that we can get more professional suggestions.

I suggest trying to access the single user's mailbox via OWA to verify whether the mailbox has been migrated completely.

You dont need anu authentication to be set :
Just follow below steps :
Simple steps to do the SMTP configuration :
1. Use transaction SCOT
3. Double Click on SMTP
4. You will get a window and fill in description
5. Tick the "Node in use" box
6. Enter the hostname of the email exchange server
7. Mail port will be 25
8. Click on the button next to Internet called "Set"
9. You will get another window, in the "address area" box, enter *
10. Click the green check button to exit the second window
11. Click the green check button to exit the main window
12. From top menu: Settings -> Default Domain
13. in the small box that appears enter the domain name which is the last part after the @ sign. The domain name would be company.com
14. You need to define a job to process the email, from top menu: View -> Jobs
15. From top menu: Job -> Create
16. Enter a name
17. Click on "INT" in the list then "Schedule job" button
18. Enter start date and time, then click on "Schedule Periodically" button
19. Enter something like every 10 minutes.
20. the configuration is now complete. To test it, you need to have an email defined in your user id properties. Use SU01 for that.
21. Use transaction SO00
22. Put Title, and text in the body, then enter your email address below, the recepient type would be "internet address"
23. After a maximum of 10 minutes you should get the email address.

How do I send Emails from Iphone using mobile me aliases?

I am trying to send Emails from my iPhone whilst using the mobile me Email aliases in the 'From:' field. I can't seem to find instructions on how to do this.

Yep. You can set up MobileMe as a regular IMAP account and specify the "from" address that way; however, your emails will show as "From [email protected] on behalf of Your Name" in the recipient's inbox. I think it kind of defeats the purpose of sending from an alias if it's just going to display your user ID.

Cannot send email from iPhone using Outlook account

I cannot send or reply to emails using my att.net email account. I always get the message, "The sender address was invalid". I can receive emails from this account.

Can't Send Email from Iphone Using Pop Account

I have check our host names, ports, user name, passwords etc (all the account mail settings are OK) for incoming and outgoing servers. I can receive email fine but can't send them back out through the outgoing server. I am using the identical settings that I used in my Treo (which sent out emails fine). Upon sending an email the error message I get on my iphone is: " The recipient [email protected] was rejected by the server." I've noticed that I can send an email to "myself" (from the iphone) and it will show up on the in my email box, but email sent to other addresses will generate the above message. I've noticed, too, that I have to keep resetting the "Authentication" to "Password" (under advance settings) because it mysteriously resets itself to "MD5 Challenge-Response". The setting should be set to "Password" however. We are using a FirstClass email system. Sending email via the iphone by way of .mac, yahoo and gmail works fine (no mysterious rest of the "Authorization" settings either) .
It most me something obvious, but I can't see it.
I would really appreciate some help.

Unable to delete emails from care4free using thunderbird

I have just bought an imac and have transfered my thunderbird account from my old pc. I am unable to delete messages from my care4free POP account. Anyone help with this please?

Problems associated with deleting or moving email usually stem from failure to compact mail
folders, especially inboxes. This is because deleted email is not removed from the
application until you compact (expunge is the technical term). This can be done
automatically by a setting in your email account. Manually is simple enough. On any mail
folder do this: right click/compact (or File/Compact Folders). This is especially important
on inboxes but also, any folder from which you regularly delete/move email.
If you are experiencing problems you probably have a lot of uncompacted mail so be patient
the first time and watch the activity bar for its status (at the bottom of the application).

How can I send email from iPad using someone else's server

I use the Netspace server but I'm visitng a friend and using her optusnet server for the Internet, however I am unable to send email, even though I can receive it

I assume Netspace is your Internet provider. They may have their mail server set up to only work when you are accessing the server locally from their domain. I suggest you contact Netspace and ask them what you need to do to send E-Mail to them from other domains.
Have you been able to send E-Mail from other places? If so, there might be a firewall problem in Optusnet. In that case, they may be best able to advise you.

Sending email from forms using 'from'

I'm trying to send an email from forms. It goes well, but I like to use the 'from' field from Outlook. How can I use it in OLE? I have searched everywhere, but can't find it.
It seems to me it is something like the way you do with BCC and CC options, but I haven't found a way to do the same thing with the From field. Can anyone help?

Are you just sending the Line Feed character 'CHR(10)"? I typically send the Carrage Return character 'CHR(13)' as well. I'll create a variable called CRLF and assign the Carrage Return and Line Feed characters to this variable. Then reference the CRLF variable when I want to embed a new line.
For example:
DECLARE
   crlf         VARCHAR2(2) := chr(13)||chr(10);
   v_msg_body   VARCHAR2(2000);
BEGIN
   v_msg_body := 'lots of text here'||crlf;

Send email from workflow using a variable in the to field in SharePoint Online (Office 365)

I have a simple sharepoint workflow that sends and email to users. I know that the mail portion works because I can put a user's email address in the to: field and it sends fine. If I use a string variable with the email address, I get a workflow
error.
Simple steps to repro for me:
Create a new workflow in SPD (I have tried a list workflow and site workflow)
Create a workflow variable named email.
Set the variable to an email address where the user is in the site
Send email and do a variable lookup to the email variable just set.
The workflow just hangs in this scenario
I do get an error:
Retrying last request. Next attempt scheduled in less than one minute. Details of last request: HTTP BadRequest to https://[tenant].sharepoint.com/_api/sp.utilities.utility.SendEmail

Simple answer... When I used the variable, I marked it as a string. There is an email address setting.

Sending emails from iPad using 3 network? Problems

I have an issue with my iPad sending emails via the 3 network. When I change the smtp server port to 587, it verifys and all looks well.
However, when you go back into the setup screen the server port has reverted to 25! Help.

If you’re sure your settings are exactly the same as on the computers where it works, here a couple of things that you may want to look at.
Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Network, choose Network Port Configurations from the Show popup menu, and make sure that the configuration used to connect to Internet appears at the top of the list.
Also, try using a different method to connect to Internet, if possible, or connecting the computer to Internet as directly as possible, i.e. bypassing any routers that might be present, using an ethernet cable instead of wireless, etc., and see whether that makes a difference.
Mail keeps information about outgoing servers in a separate list, independently of any specific mail account. The account settings just associate one of the available outgoing servers with each account. Orphaned or dangling outgoing server entries (i.e. not associated with any account) sometimes cause weird sending problems.
Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Account Information > Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP), choose Edit Server List from the popup menu, and delete any servers that shouldn’t be there. The Edit Server List panel shows the account each outgoing server is associated with.

Sending email from Safari using Traveler email address

When in Safari or any other native iOS app, and I click the share button (as if I wanted to share the link to the website I was on with someone...) when I choose my Traveler linked email address, Safari closes, and I'm unable to send the email. I have duplicated this many times in Safari and apps that use this same feature.
