Sending Faxes with HP Mutilfunction Printer

I have a HP Photosmart C6180 multifunction printer. I have upgraded to snow leopard and deleted all HP software previously installed on the machine. I can print and scan fine. I cannot fax. Usually two printers would be added to the Printer list - one for faxing and one for printing but I can only seem to get it to add one. According to the HP snow leopard info page this model is supported under snow leopard for faxing and I have followed the HP instructions exactly to no avail. Anyone know how to make faxing work?

"OK, this is partly my fault. When I first posted the instructions earlier in this thread, I though that the print drivers for this device were already in Snow Leopard. As it turns out, only the scan drivers are there at the moment. The print drivers should be made available at some point in the future through Apple Software Update. In the meantime you might get some of the functionality back by installing the 10.5 drivers for your device. This method however is NOT supported by HP and as such is not recommended."

  • No longer able to send fax with Brother MFC-8820D

I used to be able to send a fax by going to the Print... dialog box and selecting "Send Fax..." from the dropdown menu. Unfortunately, "Send Fax..." isn't there anymore. I've installed the latest Brother drivers. I'm not sure, but this may have started a couple versions of Leopard ago.
    Any ideas?

According to the Brother website, the Printer driver for my MFC is bundled with OS X 10.5. Furthermore, it states: "The Bundled Drivers support the PC-FAX Send and the Status Monitor features." Scanner driver can be downloaded separately, but there's nowhere else to get the fax driver. So I'm still stuck.

  • Sending FAX with attachments using in RightFax

    Hi,
We are in CRM 7. and sending Fax using  RightFax - Rightfax through SMTP/SAP Connect configured.
In case the outgoing Email in format html – attachment not sending through RightFax
    (Mail document class is MHT)
I can see the mail with the attachment in SOST
In case the outgoing Email in format text – attachment sent correcty.
    )Mail document class is RAW)
It’s probably related to mail document class,
But I didn’t  figure it out.
    Thanks,

For oracle8i there is an example package from OTN:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/sample_code/tech/pl_sql/htdocs/Utl_Smtp_Sample.html
You have to re-write the package a bit to work it with BLOBs instead of RAW attachments, but that should be no problem

  • Unable to send fax with verizon (not fios) landline

Recently switched from comcast 2 verizon (not fios) and cannot send faxes. I have a dell all in one printer Photo 926. Can someone please help, I need my fax asap! Thank you!

Do you have a dialtone at the phone jack which the fax machine uses?  I would recommend connecting a standard phone to this jack to check for dialtone.
I do not know what settings are available for your fax machine, but it may also be worthwile to reset the fax machine to factory defaults and start from there.  We do not limit your ability to send faxes.
If this does not resolve your trouble, please send me a Private Message and we can work on a resolution.

    Hi centerfire,

Are you trying to send a fax to the Photosmart 7525 using the PS 7525 software on the PC?
If not, what program/app is it you're using to fax from your PC to your printer?
Are you able to use the fax on the machine (PS 7525) to send/receive to other fax machines?

  • Problem on sending fax with Apple USB modem

    Hello everyone,
I use my macmini to manage faxes to help my father's business, as fax is one of the most important mean of communication to our clients. While I can only receive fax from outside to my mac, but I cannot send fax from my mac through "Send PDF" option, it just stop working, and "Waiting for modem to become available" without using my telephone-line. It is weird when I plug it into my macbook that it works.
Look forward to your advice. Thank you,
    Victor Tang

I am having problems sending and receiving faxes, too, and have been working with AppleCare level 2. They are off for a couple of days, and the solution is nowhere in sight. They did capture information from my system as I tried to fax, and sent it to engineering. They have determined that I am not getting a dial tone.
When I connect my phone to the jack, I do get a dial tone and can talk on the phone (which I do frequently). I have been provided with two additional new Apple USB modems to try to see if that would fix the problem. It did not make any difference which of the three modems I use, I cannot send or receive faxes. Yesterday, I booted up my old iMac (OS X 10.4.11 with a collapsing hard drive, but an internal modem). I attached this computer to the same phone jack and was able to freely send faxes - every single try.
I downloaded and set up the application PageSender just to see if it was the fax software (I have been trying to just use what came with my MacBook Pro). Using the Apple USB external modem (as I have had to do with this computer and operating system), I could not send any faxes - could not get a dial tone, according to PageSender.
I, therefore, believe that the problem is with the external modem and/or the extensions that operate the external modem.
I did try what you have suggested above - the substitution of the IOSerialFamily.kext:
I partitioned my harddrive into two partitions HD and HD_2. I loaded OS X 10.5.5 (from my CD) onto the second partition. I then copied the IOSerialFamily.kext on my thumb drive (from OS X 10.5.5 the version was 92). Then I upgraded to 10.5.6, and copied the ioSerialFamily.kext on my thumb drive - this time with 10.5.6 the version was 93. I went back to my first partition where I have 10.5.7 (version 94) and tried to transfer version 93 IOSerialFamily.kext to the extensions. As soon as I tried to mount the Apple USB modem I received the following message:
    "System extension cannot be used
The system extension”/system/Library/Estensions/IOSerialFamily.kext/contents/PlugIns/Motor olaSM56KUSB.kext was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it or contact the product’s vendor for an update."
At that point I tried to exchange the version 93 with the one that I removed - version 94, but I continued to get the same message. I decided to reinstall 10.5.7 again hoping that this would solve the message problem. No such luck! I did now have version 94, but the same error message. At this point, I tried a permissions repair. This solved the error problem... but I was still not able to send or receive faxes, because the fax programs could detect not dial tone.
Because I have never sent or received faxes with this computer - only my iBook (10.4.11), I decided to go back to the second partition on my computer and see if I could send a fax from the macBook Pro with 10.5.6. The results are sporadic. I had to try several times, and occasionally I would get a dial tone and could send the fax, but more often, I could not. There was no difference in any of the 2 modems I tried (by now I had returned 1 to the Apple Store), or whether I used the front USB port or the rear USB port. The sending of a fax with MacBook Pro and 10.5.6 was not consistent or reliable and I could only occasionally get a dial tone... with 10.5.7 I can never get a dial tone.
According to my AppleCare representative the engineers are "on this". But I see that the original post was in November, which was prior to 10.5.7; I purchased my MacBook Pro with 10.5.5 in December, so imagine that this problem has been around through several upgrades of 10.5.
This is unbelievably frustrating! Has anyone been able to easily send and receive faxes with 10.5.5?
Chris (hopefully you are still around), did you get any error messages when you exchanged your 10.5.6 IOSerialFamily.kext for the 10.5.7 IOSerialFamily.kext - especially when you mounted- or tried to attach the external modem? If so, how did you handle that?
Sorry that this has been such a long post. I have tried to provide as much information as I could in the hopes of finding a solution. Any ideas???
    THANKS!

  • Sending faxes with OS X - question -

I'm hoping to use a newer feature of OS X - to send faxes through my ISP. It should go like this:
    1. Bring up Mail
    2. In the "File" menu, scroll to "Print." The page for sending emails appears.
    3. On the lower left, scroll down the PDF menu, until I get "FAX PDF."
    4. Here's where it gets confusing. Under "Fax Information," I see the following:
"TO" - I presume that to mean the name of my recipient (e.g., Ed Smith)
"DIALING PREFIX" - Some toll numbers require a prefix, so I'd need to enter these three numbers. The line says nothing about the other numbers. Does "DIALIG PREFIX" mean that I must enter all ten numbers?
Once I've filled in the other data, is this the correct procedure? Thanks!

The To field needs to be the complete phone number you're faxing to. If it's in your Address Book, you have the option to select it from there.
The Dialing Prefix would be for systems where you have to dial something first... for example, if you're at work and need to dial 9 to get an outside line, or if you're faxing long-distance and have to dial a special code before dialing the number.

  • Cannot send FAX with printer 4500n on wirelsss network

We have a 4500n all in one printer, and fax.
Last week I added the printer to our home network to print wirelessly from our laptops.  Today i attempted to send a FAX, but I received an error that the phone was off the hook.
We are runing XP-3 on our computers, with IE8.  We have DSL from the local phone company.  Before i networked the printer, I would plug in a separate phone line into the printer, and everything worked.
What do I need to do to fix this and enable us to send a fax?
    Thank you.

    Hi Suzanne,
Can you run a fax test and let me know the results?  To do this, select the "Wrench" button, then press the arrow to the right until you see Tools, press Ok, press the arrow to the right until you see Run Fax Test and press Ok.
Have you been able to receive faxes?  Does the phone have a dedicated phone number?  If you plug a phone line into the wall jack for the printer/fax do you get a dial tone?

    Hi,
I want to configure the sending of fax via SMTP. I´ve read the note Note 455140 - Configuration of e-mail, fax, paging or SMS using SMTP. But there are concepts that I´ve not much clear. Which is the process of sending the fax via email.
The sapconnect for sending emails is configured, and the mails are received correctly. which elements are necessary?
sap system  -> smtp mail server -> target fax?¿?¿

I don´t have a Fax Server that supports SMTP, I thought that there are two options via smtp or fax server.
Then It´s mandatory to have a fax server.

  • 7520 can send faxes but can not receive faxes

We just installed the 7520 and everything seems to work fine except receiving faxes.
We can send faxes just fine, however the strange thing is when I try to call the fax number from a phone it acts like its dead, you never hear it ring or anything then it just disconnects. If I switch the phone cord to the Ext connection in the back of the device and then call the number I can hear it ringing on the calling phone and on the 7520 device.  The display lights up because there is an incoming call and shows that auto answer is on, but when it answers we never hear the normal fax type tones and it never connects.
The phone is being supplied by Time Warner Cable and it plugs into the cable modem. We called Time Warner and they told us that the line for the fax is an analog line but I have no idea how to check that or prove that.
I can't figure out why it will send faxes with no problem but seems like its a dead line when trying to receive a fax.
    Any thoughts?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

With the printer's phone cord connected to the wall jack and the "1-Line" {nothing plugged into the 2-Ext} port, try running the Fax Test.  See Step 5.  Does everything pass?
Make sure the Distinctive Ring option is set for All Rings unless you have a distinctive ring set up with your phone service provider.
If you use a filter for your telephone, try using a filter for the printer.

  • Unable to send fax via internal modem

Until two days ago our internal modem was working fine we have been able to send faxes with no problem. I have ran disk first aid and repair, but the modem still is not able to send a fax. We have check the phone line and there is a dial tone up to the computer, but not dial tone in the computer. Is my modem dead or is there another way to fix the problem.
    Thanks

If you want to use the modem to send and receive faxes, then you don't want to have the Network trying to control it, you should disable the modem port in the Network prefs and use only the Ethernet port. You can use the Network prefs to troubleshoot to ensure that the modem is in working condition, but you can't have the network dial-up taking control of the modem at the same time as you want to be waiting for a fax or sending a fax. This can cause the modem to get hung, and you will get the waiting behavior that you described.
You should just be able to receive faxes by checking the "Receive faxes on this computer" button in the Print & Fax Prefs. If you had an external modem you could see some activity lights come on as soon as you check the box as it goes into standby to answer a call mode, with an internal the only way to know it's working is to send yourself a fax.
To send a fax, I think you might need to configure a Fax printer, if you don't seem to have one already. Click the "Setup Fax Modem..." button at the bottom of that Print & Fax Prefs. IF you launch /Applications/Utilities/Printer Setup Utility can you select from the View Menu: Show Fax List and does anything show up in the list? You should have a Fax List and fax printer in that list similar to your Printer List and whatever printer you have installed.
To check if the modem is even working you may have to use some modem terminal utility like ZTerm that will let you type simple commands and check the modem response. For example AT should result in an OK. With the internal you can't check the activity lights to see if you are receiving data or sending data, so I'm not sure how else you can verify the internal modem is actually functioning. It might be worthwhile checking that first, or if you know you can use it for dial-up, I still use my modem as a backup for when DSL goes out (rarely).

  • Failure to send fax from traditional fax line to free efax account

Anyone have issue to send from traditional fax machine to the free efax account coming with Envy 114?

I will need a little more information in order to help out. Are any other faxes failing when sent to the eFax number? Have you tried sending from another traditional fax and are those failing too? What is the current page count for faxes sent and received this month on the eFax printer? Have you created an account for the printer at eprintceneter.com?  Can the eFax printer send faxes with no problems?
