Sending from Mail

Mail on my macbook Air has stopped sending via my mobile me imap account. It receives mail fine, but will not send. I receive no error messages, the message does not appear in the sent mail folder it simply disappears when I click send. I have deleted and reinstalled the account. I have run the connection doctor; it says that everything is working fine. I can send mail from the mobile account on line, but not from the lap top. HELP

Quit Mail, and in the Finder open Home/Library/Mail/Mailboxes and locate the Outbox.mbox folder. Is there one? If you open it, does the Messages folder within it have any content?
Drag the Outbox.mbox folder from its location to the Desktop. Relaunch Mail, and attempt to send. Then in the Finder again, check to see if Mail has created a new Outbox.mbox folder, and to learn if this new message was in fact sent?

    There are two ways of doing this stuff...if you are running on WAS 6.4 or above then use second one.
    First method:-
    Schedule the program RSWUWFML2 as per your requirement. This will route the workitem links to the external mail id like outlook from user can log into sap and approve or reject the workitem.The SCOT should be configured to send and recieve external mails.
    Second Method:-
    U can use extended notifications for approving the workiten from the outlook or any other extrenal mail id.

  • Cannot send from mail

    I am using 10.4.7 and i cannot send any mail from mail program. No problem sending with Entourage (settings are the same). Also, when I type in a message in Mail, as soon as i type a space, i cannot add anything after that - strange.

    This problem in Mail is usually caused by some Launch Services cache or preferences corruption. The following article describes how to manually reset Launch Services -- the notes at the bottom of the article also provide information about the side effects of deleting each of the files involved:

    1. Quit all applications.

  • Extract email addresses from email header - Sender (From) - Mail

    Hi!
    I would like to extract email addresses from email header from field "Sender (From)" and from email body in Mail at the same time.
    I saw only scripts how to extract from email body.
    I get emails asking for some informations about product and many people don't include their email address in the body, so I have to extract from email header as well.
    I would like to extract email addresses from whole email account, separate alphabeticaly, delete duplicates and save it (separated by comma) in text file.
    This I would use for sending massive email to all customers. 
    I'm on OSX 10.6.8.
    Do you have please somebody script for extracting email addresses in the way:
    1. select mail account
    2. run script
    3. save email addresses to txt file

    Maybe I'm doing something wrong...
    1. I switched off in Mail "Use Smart Addresses".
    2. I changed the path to my account in both commands:
    Command A.

    It can extract to .txt file only email addresses from email header which includes after the name as well email address.
    Example:
    From: Neville Hillyer <[email protected]>
    If there is in header only the name without the email address then it's not extracted (email is visible after secondary click on the name)

    I just checked that most of emails I have has in the emailheader only the name without the email address so I miss most of email addresses.

  • Jpeg attachment probles when sending from Mail to windows mail applications

    hi guys. I hope someone can help me as I have been going round in circles for months with this problem.
    The task is to send a jpeg attachment - simple isn't it!
    No problems attaching it, whether is embeded or viewed as an icon, that's ok. i have selected the option "always send windows friendly attachments" too.
    The problem is on the other end. Pretty much every time I get an email back saying that the images are embeded on the email and cannot be saved (right click, save as...) nor they appear listed as attachments. Not only that, but most times they also appear deformed with weird dimensions and loss of quality.
    Can someone help me out here, as you can all imagine sending images is pretty common these days, and whether we like it or not, most people use PCs still

    I'm afraid that you don't really have the same problem. You may have the same symptoms but you are not using the same email program, the same server (unless you are also using Gmail), and you are encoding your emails in a Mac specific format.

    I did find a tech blurb that said: "On the Macintosh, the default encoding method for attachments has been changed from BinHex to AppleDouble. This default works across platforms with all MIME-compliant email programs, including Eudora and Microsoft's Outlook Express and Outlook 98."
    I quit using Eudora when OS 10.2 came out, so I don't know much more about changing your method of encoding. I checked and the last version of Eudora came out in 2006. Qualcomm has discontinued development for Eudora and none of my clients are using it since it has become a dead end. The last version of Eudora is reported to work with Leopard if you make some changes in the sound files. There is still access to the support forums here:

    I guess that Thunderbird is the recommended program for Eudora users to migrate to if you don't want to use Apple Mail.
    You should probably start your own thread with the words "Eudora Attachments" in the title so that people who are using Eudora will see the name of the program and respond with up to date information.

    I have my yahoo emails coming to my Mail software and also emails from my website directing to this. I want to be able to send emails with my website address rather than the yahoo name. How can I do this?

    If you mean the sender name (the name that appears on the From line when other's receive your email), to change it on an iOS device, go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars...tap iCloud under Accounts, tap your iCloud account at the top of the next screen, tap Mail at the bottom of the next screen, then enter the name you want to use in the Name field at the top.

  • Email receiving but not sending, from mail AND entourage

    Mail and Entourage on my MacBook Pro have both stopped sending mail from all of the accounts set up, although they are receiving okay. There doesn't seem to be a problem with the smtp server as my G5 iMac is sending mail no problem through the same smtp server.
    Mail says "Client host rejected. Access denied."
    Entourage says "Server did not understand the request."
    Anyone have any ideas on this?

    in mail setup you may have entered your user id and password for authenication.

  • What happened to eMail, can't send from "Mail"

    On Tuesday at 2 o'clock every Mac in my office stopped being able to SEND email from their computer. After 7 long worthless hours with DSL, ATT and Tech 360, I still cannot SEND. We can log into the web and send and receive from there, but.....
    Anyone know what is going on?

    Might need to have them open port 25...

  • Can't send from Mail on some Airport Networks

    I have an iBook G4 and Airport Express. I use Mail to send and receive mail. On some Airport Networks I can send and receive as usual. On others I can only receive but not send. My mom and brother both have the same airport and same computer as I do yet at one house I can send and at the other one I can't. Please help.

    While each account may not have identical issues, all are related to the configuration parameters of the SMTP server for that account. The Connection Doctor should have described specific steps to take to correct each issue. For example, a smtp.mac.com error message may have read…
    "Could not connect to this smtp server. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the Account preferences. Also verify that the server supports SSL. If it does not, uncheck the "Use SSL" checkbox in the Advanced tab of Account preferences."
    An smtp server must be properly named in your Advanced preference pane: smtp.mac.com, for example. You must select the correct server port, a determination made by your ISP. The default port is 25. You must check or leave unchecked, as appropriate, the option labeled Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). Authentication should be set to None, Password, or an alternative higher strength standard, again as determined by your ISP. Your user name—without the domain appended—and your password must be correct.

    In the example above, simply switching the port used to communicate with the .Mac smtp server from the default 25 to port 587 corrected the issued described in that message from the Connection Doctor.

  • Inconsistent sending from Mail

    I've noticed that Mail doesn't perform the Send function consistently on my MacBook Pro. When I compose an email and click send, it goes to the Outbox and the grey wheel spins, but the blue status bar doesn't appear. I usually have to quit Mail and restart it to get the message to go, and once restarted it sends right away.
    The frustrating thing is that sometimes, there are no problems and the initial Send works fine. Anyone else having this problem?

    I have Mail setup with 2 different POP accounts and 1 MobileMe account (which is inactive on my laptop). The POP accounts each have different SMTP servers and the MobileMe has an SMTP server.
    SMTP #1 is set to "default" ports (25), non-SSL, password authentication
    SMTP #2 is set to "default" ports (25), non-SSL, password authentication, "Use this SMTP only" is checked
    MobileMe is set to "default" ports (25), SSL, password authentication, "Use this SMTP only" checked
    I have tried changing the "Use this SMTP only" in different configurations, but it doesn't seem to impact the inconsistency of the outgoing mail.

    I've followed various examples for Exchange 2003 and haven't been able to do it. We are planning to migrate to 2010 later this year and I'm wondering if anyone has done this with Exchange 2010.

    By default you cannot do that.
    You will have to go for a third-party or custom application that lets you use secondary addresses as the authoritative From address for outgoing messages. Products such as Ivasoft’s ChooseFrom (http://www.ivasoft.biz/choosefrom2007.shtml) is good in this regard.

  • Anyone else having trouble sending from Mail or.Mac?

    I can recevie mail just fine - it's the sending that is not going through. I see the mail was down for about 4 hours earlier today, but all systems show "go" now. Ran Connection Doctor - and that looks good too.
    Any ideas on what I can do to troubleshoot? I'm a recent PC convert and am not familiar with Macs just yet...

    Have you ever been able to send messages with your .Mac account?
    If not, the required settings for using an SMTP server that is outside of your ISP's network or not provided by the ISP is determined by the ISP.
    Some ISPs allow the use of an authenticated SMTP server only (such as the .Mac SMTP server) that is outside of their network on Port 25 (which is the common SMTP server port) but some block its use regardless.
    Are you also accessing an email account and SMTP server that is provided by your ISP with the Mail.app and if so, are you able to send messages with this account and SMTP server?
    Something to try.
    Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and under the Account Information tab for your .Mac account preferences at the SMTP server selection, select the Server Settings button below. Enter 587 in place of 25 in the Server Port field and when finished, select OK to save the changed setting.
    If this doesn't resolve it and you are accessing an email account and SMTP server provided by your ISP with the Mail.app, select/use your ISP's SMTP server to send messages with your .Mac account which is invisible to all recipients.

  • Mail Won't Send from Account Selected

    Having a real problem with Apple Mail. When using the From: account dropdown menu to select an account different from the default one, I expect that the recipient will receive the email as coming from that account. However, I just learned today that ALL email I send from Mail is using only the default account and completely ignoring whatever account I selected in the From: dropdown.
    I also tried setting "Send new messages from:" to "Account Mailbox" in Mail Preferences, but, made no difference.
    The exact same problem is happening on my partner's Macbook, who's running the same OS version I am: 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard).
    Anyone else having this problem or know how to fix it? Thanks!

    I am also having the same problem that just started this morning. The mail is using my smtp server e-mail account from my serverice provider (Bell Canada) for all outgoing mail as the "From" and totally disregarding whatever e-mail account I select to send from. As I have 14 different e-mail accounts for different work activities, it is just not acceptable.
    At first I thought it may be a problem with my service provider, but after 2 hours on the phone testing it with them, it is obvioulsy a system problem and not a server one. was there an update that changed something with the mail program??
    I am also 24" iMac with 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 4 GB of 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM running Mac OS X 10.6.8

  • Several hour delay in receiving emails sent from mail?

    for 3 years i've had a pop email account with yahoo and it has worked flawlessly with my apple mail program until a few days ago when people started telling me that the emails i sent took several hours to reach them. so, using mail, i sent myself a test and confirmed the delay. emails i send immediately appear in my "sent" folder yet they don't reach their intended recipients until hours later. this problem is intermittent. there was a brief window the other day when emails i was sending from mail were arriving quickly. but, the problem soon returned and persists now. the problem does not affect the receiving of emails with mail. in other words, i am receiving all emails with mail. the problem only affects emails i send using apple mail.
    when i access my email account directly through yahoo to send emails, those emails arrive immediately.
    i hope i have described the problem clearly enough and i thank the community in advance for any insight and/or suggestions.

    If you select a message in Mail's message viewer, then select the menu item View > Message > Long Headers, the message headers will be displayed. Depending on how the message was routed, there may be several "Received" fields - these get added at each mail server that handles the message. Each "Received" field contains information such as IP addresses, host names, dates, and times - these can be used to tell how the message was routed and how long it took. Note that a sender can fake, or "spoof", their information (usually these are spammers), but once the message reaches real-world servers the information will be correct.
