Sending garage band track and movie back to i movie

I sent my i movie to garage band so that I could create an audio track to accompany the footage.
How do I then send this back to i movie for further editing?
I have tried using the share tab but this only gives options to send to i dvd, i tunes or i web.
Any suggestions???

This is simpler than it seems.
when you send a movie from iMovie to GarageBand you should already be done with the video editing.
This is for future reference, when you send your movie to GB do all you need to do with the audio, (for example: scoring, re-recording or enhancing the audio)
when you're done with that you dont need the video anymore (dont send the whole thing back to GB). Since you're only using the video for reference delete the video from GB (leaving just the audio), then send it to iTunes as a song recording.
Now open iMovie and and then click on the "Media" button on the bottom right
then find your song and use it as the audio.
So now you dont have to re-send your GB video to iMovie.

P.S.
Before you use the iTunes song as your audio, quit iMovie and save it.
right after you quit, re-open iMovie, and THEN you should open the media button and find your song (if you dont do this you wont be able to find your song in the search thingy.)

    GB and iMovie pre installed?
    http://www.apple.com/ipad/built-in-apps/
Click: Browser All Built In Apps
iMovie and GB must be purchased.
If you have installed GB and iMovie on the iPad 1 and synced using iTunes, just sync the those apps to the newer iPad with iTunes. No re purchase necessary with the same iTunes account.

Audiobooks purchased from Audible.com.  They play on iTunes on my computer.  They have been playing on my iPod Classic until two days ago.  I'm in the middle of two books and now one does not keep track of where I am and the other does not play.  I also have other books not playing on the iPod that use to play.  They all play on iTunes on my computer.

Just downloaded Yosemite on my Mac and the Yosemite update for Garage Band.  Now when I open an existing Garage Band project and click on a vocal track, a message window says, "Could not find General Audio 10" and have no smart controls for that track (reverb, etc.)  Help?

Re: I downloaded Garage Band 2x and the same note appears: there is no General Audio 10. Please advise. Thank you.
Try this: Go to your menu bar, select "Garageband" and then "Restore Sound Library..."
It can take awhile to download as it's a pretty big library. You might need to also select "Update Sound Library..." after the restore is done.

if the files are in one of GB's supported formats:
    http://www.bulletsandbones.com/GB/GBFAQ.html#importformats
(Let the page FULLY load. The link to your answer is at the top of your screen)
simply drag and drop the files into the GB timeline

  • Ipad 2 to iMac Garage band track transfer

Hi, is there a simple way to transfer my ipad2 garage band tracks onto my iMac and Vice versa.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Here's what I did. Alternative products and apps may be available but this worked for me
    Purchaces:
    iRig Midi (physical device)
    MidiBridge (app)
    Configuration:
Connect the midi out of the Yamaha DTXplorer to the midi in of the iRig Midi
Connect the iRig Midi to your iPad
Now, here's the bit that made me think it was worth writing this post. The DTXplorer doesn't support custom midi mapping and it uses different midi notes than those used by GarageBand for iPad. To get around this you need to remap the incomming midi on the iPad using an app such as MidiBridge.
In MidiBridge, connect the iRig input to the MidiBridge output
Select the config icon on the iRig input and apply the Note Mapper. Here is what you need to remap to get things working
    Bass Drum: A0 (33) -> C1 (36)
    Low Tom: G1 (43) -> F1 (41)
    Mid Tom: B1 (47) -> A1 (45)
    Snare Drum: G0 (31) -> D1 (38)
The rest are mapped properly by default
In MidiBridge, you might want to save the configuration
Open up GarageBand and drum away!

GB6 is the latest version, so all current docs should directly refer to that.

When transferring music from a cassette - to the computer - to a CD, I lose the track designators. That is, all the songs on the CD are on "track one". Can I retain the track designators using only the software that comes with Garage Band or do I have to go to other sources to have that capability?
    Thanks in advance

It is also quite easy to split the large track into smaller ones.
    • Set the playhead on a silent space between tracks.
    • Select split in the edit menu.
    • Do this for each silent area.
Then create new tracks to put these sections into:
    • Select the track and press ⌘ +d for each new track.
    • Drag the sections each into their own track.
    • Click on the solo button for each track and then export to iTunes
The advantage to this is control over fade outs and fade ins. You can even fade one track into another if you wish. You can also control individual volumes more easily.

  • Mixdown Garage Band Track to iTunes - result comes out silent.

I use garage band to contain several tracks I have recorded live. I mute and lock all tracks except the one I want to play I unmute and then choose mixdown to iTunes. The resulting file in iTunes is silent. When I go back and try to play the unmuted track in Garage Band it plays silent. Only when I double-click on the track and choose 'monitor sound' then go back to the track window does it then play in Garage Band and then I can send it to iTunes successfully. The problem is, I still haven't discovered why a track will not play or send to iTunes. What control is making this happen/not happen. Apparently the 'monitor sound' check box is not the answer because sometimes it works and sometimes not. There seems to be something else that is causing a track to be silent or to play and it is other than the mute button.
    Any clues on this?
    TIA,
    Ken

I use garage band to contain several tracks I have
recorded live. I mute and lock all tracks except the
one I want to play I unmute and then choose mixdown
    to iTunes.
There is no reason to lock a track you don't want to play. Locking is very useful if you have a lot of effects, or if it is a software track that is taxing the CPU. If none of those conditions exist, then locking is a wasted effort.
The resulting file in iTunes is silent.
When I go back and try to play the unmuted track in
Garage Band it plays silent. Only when I double-click
on the track and choose 'monitor sound' then go back
to the track window does it then play in Garage Band
and then I can send it to iTunes successfully.
The monitor function should only be a factor when recording, not on playback. It is to allow you to monitor with any effects you have selected while recording. I never use this option, because I don't apply any effect until I have recorded the track and I am mixing.
The problem is, I still haven't discovered why a track
will not play or send to iTunes. What control is
making this happen/not happen. Apparently the

Any track that is muted will not play. If you have any tracks soloed, no non-soloed tracks will play. I am not sure just what you could be doing here. Make sure all tracks are not muted and not soloed. Then mute any you don't want, and mix to your satisfaction. When you are satisfied, export to iTunes should give you exactly what you hear in GB.

  • Garage Band 10.0.2 - How do I move clips in the editor?

Pretty basic question about Garage Band 10.0.2.   I find it difficult to grab and move clips in the editor - the bottom window - as I could in previous versions. Instead, I'm having to go up to the top window to move clips closer together.  What am I doing wrong?

Hold down the command key, while you click the region in the track editor and drag it. Don't click the ruler, click the wave shape in the audio region.

  • I created garage band songs and they syched gray instead of black and won't play on touch

I write songs and made a garage band version via audacity.  When I synched the songs to my touch from iTunes, they were 'gray' in color, not black, as normal and will not play on the touch.  The only difference between these and previous songs is the use of garage band for the music.  Help!!!

Do they play in iTunes? If so:
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Need help with Garage Band 11 and my TASCAM interface recording Real Instrument

I am using a TASCAM US-122 interface with garage band 11 on a mac at 32 bit running osx 10.6.6.  Garage Band preferences / audio input and output set to TASCAM (which means it recognizes it) , but when using Real Instrument for the TASCAM and the track is armed , etc... the record function works when started except "no sound" from the device I am running thru TASCAM is being detected.
I am getting sound out of the TASCAM and simply running an AKAI mpc beat as a test.  I am sure there is something simple I have yet to do but not sure what it is in Garage Band.
Can you help ?   Thanks. GARY

with the real instrument track selected...
make sure the info pane is showing on the right (click the little "i" on the bottom right to open it; "Real Instrument" should be highlighted in blue on top).
On the bottom of the info pane it says "Input Source" and "Monitor."
Make sure the Input Source is set to the Tascam channel you're using (the channel, mono or stereo, that you've plugged your MPC into).
And if you want to hear it as you record, make sure the Monitor is set to ON.

  • Making an mp3 a garage band track

Is there a way to take an .mp3 song and import it as a track into garage band?
    Thanks

    Hi,
+Is there a way to take an .mp3 song and import it as a track into garage band?+
Yes. Just drag it to the Timeline. If it won't import, check to see if it's labeled MP3. If so, change it to mp3, and try again.
