Sending iPad back to Apple

My iPad mini is completely dead. I have tried all the reset methods to no avail. It has to be sent to Apple. Do I have to erase everything on it via iCloud beforehand? It might just be a dead battery so seems a bit extreme.

Thank you for that. It has now gone to Apple via John Lewis as they give a 2 year guarantee, though not that impressed with that as it seems they will replace it with a reconditioned one not a new one. I'll just have to hope for the best.

  • My iPhone has died.  Am I able to send it back to Apple for a replacement?  I am on contract and phone is only 6 months old.

My iphone 4 has mysteriously stopped working.  One moment all was grand and the next....nothing.  Dead.  The battery was almost fully charged when this happened, and the phone was turned on (I never turn it off).  I've tried to reset it.  I've tried to hold down the buttons for a long time.  I've plugged it into power.  I've plugged it into iTunes.    All of this did nothing.  iTunes didn't even flinch.  The phone is D.E.A.D.
So, I'm on a contract with Vodafone.  Should I go to them or should I go directly to Apple?  Do I need the original box it came in (as I don't have it?!!?)  Can I just send it back to Apple?
Anyone got any ideas or advice on the process?
    Thanks a bunch!
    Cheers,
    CillafromNT

If there's an Apple store near you, make an appointment at the genius bar and take it there. You have a 1 year warranty.

  • If my MAC book pro is not under warranty any more can i still send it back to apple to get it repaired

If my MAC book pro is not under warranty any more can i still send it back to apple to get it repaired

Yes, but you should consider this.
A: Laptops usually last only about 4 years.
So if you take your investment into the machine + add any software that can't be transferred to a new machine and divide that by 4, you'll get the per year value.
Take that and estimate how many years of value you have left, then judge if the repair is going to be worth getting that remaining few years left or not.
For instance if you have $2800 invested in a machine, that's $700 a year and it's 3 years old, that means it's likely to have only $700 of value left, so it makes little sense to spend a lot to get that remaining $700. Sell it for parts and apply the funds to a new machine.
I suspect you upgraded a older machine to 10.7 and it likely killed it.

  • How to send Earphones back to Apple(Warranty)??

Hi, i got a problem with my earphone.
my left earphone was garbled so i went to this website and ordered new ones for free(I still have warranty). Everything is fine so far, I got the new earphones and they work, but I don't know how to send the broken ones back. Apple said that I would get instructions how to send them back, but i didnt get any, only a letter that I dont have to pay anything because of my warranty.
So now Im trying to find out if the carrier matters and what carrier it is. I really dont know what to do. My repair status number is D10792823.
Im really mad right now because if I dont get my earphones sent to Apple I have to pay a $29 non-return fee.
    Hope somebody can help me.
    Marcel
(Sry for my post in the others thread, I didnt know how to open a new thread)

If you need to send them back, there will be shipping label under the one that shipped them to your house. Peel off the top label.
You would use the same carrier.
Everything is already paid for so don't fill out new forms and don't pay anything.
You can go here -> https://support.apple.com/repairstatus/Main
and check on the status. It should show Awaiting customer return (or something similar) if they want them back.
    If in doubt, call 1-800-myapple.

  • Can you buy the ipod touch/iphone etc. then send it back to apple to be engraved?

if you don't want it engraved straight away but want some time to think of what to engrave on it, can you buy the ipod touch then send it back a few months later to be engraved with your preffered message? xx

No, you will need to go to a jewellers / trophy engraver to get your iPod engraved.

  • My iphone 5 ear phones are very quiet. They're not working in one ear. I took them back to the apple shop in Cardiff today and the guy told me cos I bought them from apple on line, I had to send them back to Apple online. where do i send them to?

Where can I send my ear phones to have them swapped. The left isnt working at all. Where do i send them?

    That is rubbish
All apple products in UK carry a 12 month warranty
Apple Store genius bar will handle all warranty and or service issues regardless where you purchased from
as long as they were purchased in UK from a legitimate source and are UK stock
    Apple.com/uk is Apple owned ................................
the iPhone 5 has 12 month warranty and the ear pods are covered by the same warranty
I can hardly believe wht you have posted Goi back and if you get the same response speak to the duty manager
    I am frankly staggered

  • How to send iPod back to get refurbished

My i recently dropped my iPod in a bucket full of water and immediately took it out and set it aside to let it dry. After a week it would not turn on and my warranty has expired. Is there a way to send it back to Apple to let them fix it for a small fee?

You would probably come out cheaper using a company like ipodresq.

Just do a search for ipod repairs and take your pick.

The APP application on my iPad does not function properly - any downloads requested immediately fail and send me back tot he main iPad screen.  Any suggestions on to hoe to fix this?  The software has been updated to iOS 5.1.1, and no furthe updates are available.

This is my boilerplate response when app downloads are stalled or in the "waiting" mode. There are a bunch of things here to try.
Tap on the "installing" icon and see if you can pause the install, then tap on it again in order to resume the install.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download and install at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and see if the install resumes.
If all else fails, download the updates or the apps in iTunes on your computer and then sync the content to your iPad.

Whenever I open my notes it crashes, sending me back to my gome screen. I have tried turning my ipad off, closing it down fully, backing up my ipad... I don't know what to do. Please help.

Reset it by holding the power and home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo, then release.  This just restarts it, you won't lose any data by doing this.

  • When I try to read my e-mail my iPad closes the page and sends me back to home page. What can I do to fix this?

When I try to read my e-mail my iPad closes the page and sends me back to home page. Any ideas how I can fix this?

    Jonmarie-
Try resetting (rebooting) the iPad.  Hold both the Home and Sleep buttons for several seconds until the Apple logo appears.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" arrow.  The iPad will restart after a couple of minutes.  Resetting this way will not hurt anything and sometimes solves mysterious problems.

  • I cannot open iCal because of a problem. Can anybody help me? The computer will not allow it to open and sends a message to apple each time. The icon has gone from the dock, but ical works on my iPad and I am afraid to sync it with my computer.?

I cannot open iCal because of a problem. Can anybody help me? The computer will not allow it to open and sends a message to apple each time. The icon has gone from the dock, but ical works on my iPad and I am afraid to sync it with my computer in case it wipes everything .

I have the exact same problem. I have not changed anything. This is probably a bug or something that has gone bad with Mac OS X (10.7.2). I have not found any solution for this on the web.
MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.2).

  • I backed up my broken ipad, returned it to Apple got it replaced and have now accidently backup'd on my computer over the top of my original Ipad Back up.  how do I get previous copy of my back up??

i backed up my broken ipad to my computer yesterday, returned it to Apple & got it replaced today and have now accidently backup'd on my computer over the top of my original Ipad Back up from yesterday.  Can anyone advise how do I get previous copy of my back up??

Look at this knowledge base article on iOS backups to iTunes, note where the backups are kept for your type of computer, Windows or Mac, go to that Library location and see if there are any other files with the same name as the current backup but with a different extension and date/time stamp.  If so you can edit the extension of the current backup and then change the extension of the previous backup so it looks like what was on the current and the do a restore.  iTunes will think the older backup is now new and use it to restore.
If there are no such files then you over-wrote the backup and it is gone.

  • TS5185 My IPAD will not send messages to non APPLE users.

Today, Christmas Day, while trying to send a message my IPAD wanted me to turn on iMessage. There was no option not to do this. After it was turned on I could no longer send messages to non Apple users. After reading online that I could set send SMS on my IPHONE I did. Now I guess it send everything as an SMS message. Now my IPAD will not send messages to non Apple users. I guess Apple wants us to pick our friends only if the use Apple products. This is about as stupid as it gets. They want us to only communicate with Apple users. The only other option is to turn the feature off. Why have iMessage in the first place.
So my situation is I can send SMS Messages on my IPHONE. I cannot send any messages to non Apple users on my IPAD and iMessages to my Apple users.
This kind of stupidity is why I switched from Windows to Apple in the first place. Don't they test anything out anymore at Apple?

Please don't take this the wrong way, but I think that you might be doing something wrong.
Connect your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac using Continuity - Apple Support
To use Continuity for SMS and MMS with your iPhone and your Mac, iPad or iPod touch
Your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch need to use iOS 8.1, and your Mac needs to use OS X Yosemite.
Sign in to iMessage on your iPhone, your other iOS devices, and your Mac using the same Apple ID.
    On your iPhone:
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > You Can Be Reached By, and add a check to both your phone number and email address.
Go to Messages > Text Message Forwarding, and enable the device(s) you would like to forward messages to.
Your Mac, iPad, or iPod touch will display a code. Enter this code on your iPhone to verify the SMS feature.
