Sending iPod Nano back? (was i right)

I just sent my iPod back and just want to know if i did the right thing.
Ok heres my problem, My wheel works 80% of the time and it normally freezes 50% of the time. I cant charge it either as every time i plug it in the lcd light turns of and it slowly fades. (like the gameboy colors when you turn them off:P)
I cant restore either. (got newest firmware)
and also when i move the hold switch a few times it would "fade away"
iPod is in great condition well looked after.
Nearly 1 year old.

Product replacement pending?
How long does it stay like that and how long does it take to arrive?
Would i get a straight replacement?
(old nano)
And would i get another year warrenty?

  • Help with where to send ipod nano back if its broken?

My friend bought a green iPod nano from a shop while on holiday in Australia, she's crashed it and now I can't reset it for her. I've tried plugging it into USB port for hours, no sign of life even with a reset (its always worked on this machine before), even after several hours. No sign of it in Windows either.
She can't find a guarantee or any leaflets in the small box, though I assume there must be a standard 12 month warranty with it?
Can this be sent to Apple directly, or does she have to contact the retailer in Australia (we're in UK now).
If anyone has any ideas, please let me know
    cheers
    Lee

This would be a good place to start.

  • Do I get a 1st gen ipod nano back when I send for a replacement?

Do I get a 1st gen ipod nano back when I send for a replacement? I have a black 2GB that I got from my grandfather for Christmas years ago. I want the same one(1st gen black 2GB) sent back. I didn't realize I had to send my original back until I was finished. I don't want a 6th gen, I have one already.

That's not good. I just sent mine back a few days ago. Great I want my 1st gen Nano back. I don't want a 6th gen, already have one. And that 1st gen was special. I thought I was getting a replacement. They better be willing to send back my 1st gen if I can't get a replacement 1st gen nano back.

I have a problem with the headset of my ipod nano 4th gen. the right side don't have a sound. It comes in and out.  what do I need to do.. I am using the original headset eversince. I tool it to a Apple Mac Cennter and Taked with a Service Center Rep. And he told me that they can't do anything because they don't repair the ipod they didn;t even look at it. I was told instead to buy a new one. I was very disappointed.. This is already my 5th ipod though i am planning to buy a new one.. I still want it fixed so I can give it to my little sister

From the OP: "My old computer got a virus and when that happened all my music was lost. "
They don't have the music on their computer so they cannot transfer the iTunes folder, from the computer to their iPod and then to the new computer. And if they try to enable disk use on the iPod it will erase all the music that is on it. The method you cited is moving the files in a data format using the iPod as a flash drive. It doesn't work if they are in music format. That is why I suggested Yamipod.

  • My ipod nano just stopped working right after playing a song, any suggestions to get it back working?

my ipod nano just stopped working right after playing a song, any suggestions to get it back working?

Did the battery run out of power?  If not, try doing a Reset to "reboot" the iPod

(A Reset does NOT erase the iPod.)

  • I want my iPod nano back

I was told about the replacement iPod nano 1st gen replacement program and my iPod was elegible. First they said Apple would replace the battery. And now I find they are sendirng refurbished iPod Nanos 6th gen, any color.
I want to know if there is any way to get my old iPod nano back. It was working perfectly, it was almost new after all this years. I want to keep it. I assume the risk if it explodes, i've already been warned. I don't want the iPod 6th gen, I already have one. It's the iPod nano I like the less of all history.
Please Apple, since you haven't specified what would you replace with I want to have the chance to choose now and I want my old iPod nano 1st gen back, please, it's very valuable for me, my first iPod, don't dare to depiece it. It's it too late? Where can I email/phone? Nobody on the support lane can help. Pleaaaaseee!!!
BTW: iTunes Match works very poorly!

Sorry, but it is too late.  I am in the same boat, and I am NOT happy about it.  I asked your question and a dozen others when I was on the phone with Customer Support for about half an hour today.  The CS rep was very nice and really took time to talk to senior support managers and even the people in charge of the replacement shipments, but there was nothing positive he had to tell me...
Once they have your iPod, it is gone.  They have NOTHING in place to allow you get it back (not surprising) or to do anything else.  You cannot request a refurbished 1G (the ones they already had are long gone and they are NOT refurbishing the ones people are sending back... they are just removing the parts they can re-use to refurbish later gen nanos... so there are no 1Gs to be had), you cannot request a certain color (or request NOT to get a particularly ugly color) of the 6G, etc.  All you can do now is just wait to see what color square, ugly refurbished 6G they send you.
All you can do is call Apple and ask to lodege a complaint.  The CS rep filed a complaint for me, because if Apple had simply been honest and told people what the plan was upfront (hmmm... what a concept!), I would have kept mine (and would have been perfectly happy to do so).  I loved it, and didn't use it very often (so the battery risk was minimal)... and I would NOT have sent it back if I had known that I would NOT be getting a 1G back!

  • My computer crashed.  How do I sync the songs on my iPod nano back to my iTunes account?

My PC crashed and I need to sync my iPod nano back to my iTunes account.  How do I do that?

This is a problem I've had before too, but it's fairly easy to fix without even using iTunes:
Make sure in the folders options on your computer, you are able to view hidden files and folders.
Then, go into your iPod with my Computer>iPod control>music. There will be folders called F00, F01, F02 etc. In them will be the music on your iPod (in mp3 or aac format). The file names will be weird, like DGFB or HRRE or whatever, but iTunes or Windows Media Player (if you have Windows 7) will recognise the media info.
Basically, just copy the files out of the folders and back onto your computer and put them into iTunes like you normally do.
If you do this right it will work because I have done this before when my computer got a really bad virus and I had to reset it, as I couldn't even log on properly.

  • HT1535 I would like to move my songs from my ipod nano back on to my freshly reinstalled windows and iTunes.  Can that be done?  I turned off automatic syncing so I can charge up the ipod.

I would like to move my songs from my ipod nano back on to my freshly reinstalled windows and iTunes.  Can that be done?  I turned off automatic syncing so I can charge up the ipod.  Help!

You won't be able to, just by navigating out the iPod's photos folder in iTunes. You'll likely need the help of some sort of third party software to get the job done for you.  One thing you'll want to keep in mind about these photos is that they are no longer in their full resolution, but instead are scaled down thumbnail versions that were optimized for viewing on your iPod's Video smaller 2.5" LCD display.
    Here is one such product.

Unfortunately I have deleted my entire itunes library and back up from my computer, is there any way I can copy my ipod nano back onto my computer into the itunes library? and re-download all the tunes I have purchased  from I tunes.

    Hello bigali,
Your options are kinda limited. I would use this first:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and ...
Then check here for the non-purchased items:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2452022
You want to rebuild the library first, then sync the ipod.
Here is a good idea for when your done:
How to back up your media in iTunes
    Hope this helps.

  • One of the episodes that i had on my IPOD NANO 8GB was removed off when i put a new episode of that tv show that i bought and put it on my IPOD NANO 8GB. How do i get the first episode that i bought back on my Ipod Nano 8GB with the new episode on it?

I had an episode of a tv show series on my IPOD NANO 8GB. I just bought a new episode of the tv show and I went to put it on my IPOD NANO 8GB and it removed the first episode off my IPOD NANO 8GB. Now, all I have is the new episode of the tv show on my ipod and I can't get the other back on there. How do I get the other episode that I had on there first back on to my IPOD NANO 8GB with the new episode on my ipod?  Please Help Soon.

    Hello Lisa,
Double check your iPod's sync settings from under it's TV Shows tab in iTunes.  Make sure it is not set up to sync only unwatched episodes.

  • My iPod Nano 7 was unplugged improperly, iTunes detects but does not identify  help?

My iPod Nano 7th generation was unplugged improperly and now I seem to have a whole host of problems.  Itunes detects it but does not identify it - sometimes (also post- improper unplug) it would be identified by iTunes, but it wouldn't sync properly.  The computer would scan and fix the ipod every time I plugged it in, but never found any problems.  Also, every time I plug it in I get a warning window that the device could work faster if I plugged it into a 2.0 USB port, which I have checked that my computer has, updated all of the "enhanced USB ports" and I've checked the Apple port and it's fine.  I have also tried all of the USB ports I have, the warning window pops up for all of them.  I have uninstalled and re-installed iTunes, restarted my computer and my ipod numerous times.  Sometimes I get a warning window about missing files on my iPod, but I don't know how to fix that issue.
    Any suggestions???  THANKS!!!

Good thing because no one is anwering anything on this

  • My iPod Nano 8GB was stuck on "Hold" no matter what I did...

Has your iPod ever been accidentally filled to over-capacity?  Mine was. It appeared to introduce some file corruption issues.  My iPod was stuck on hold. Period.
A hard Reset would not work:
No result after toggling Hold button and pressing Menu+Select
No result after plugging in a power supply or plugging the iPod in a USB port
    Soft Restore did not work
Suffered intermittent sync errors after Restore
Toggling the sync and playlist settings produced some over capacity warnings (Hint this was the culprit)
Even when a synch with a proper amount of content (no error on the Capacity bar) completed, the iPod stayed stuck on hold
Here's what worked for me; I carefully re-wrote *all* content using small amounts of content in *every* data type appearing on the device.
Verify that you have iTunes playlists and PC directories with media to cover each type of data you have ever had on the iPod, e.g., songs, videos, TV shows, photos, Podcasts.
Verify that playlists and directories contain manageable amounts of content (stuff that's quick to sync after a Restore is run).
Verify that you check "Sync" for every data type on the Synch toolbar.
Select "Synch only checked songs and video" on the Summary tab, you might also select "Convert higher bit rate songs to 128kbps AAC"
Run the "Restore" routine and allow the unit to sync with verified settings as established above.
Voila: After the Restore, a Synch and a manual Reset, the lock went away.
I reset the Sync switches for my original content (I verfied it would fit before cutting it loose).

    Rainbow -
I've read the thread you linked to above and the only thing I find missing in the saga is any mention of the PRAM battery. If it is depleted (and it would be getting close to depletion if it has never been replaced) it could be causing your problem.
Do you see any strangeness in the time or date displays? That would be a sure sign that the battery is dying. I haven't run into the problem of a bad battery causing constant freezing but it wouldn't hurt to check it out.
As far as temperature effects, the usual pattern of overheating would be a shutdown of the whole computer, a designed-in precaution.
Forgive the battery tutorial if you've already dealt with that possibility.

  • I accidentally washed my 6th generation iPod nano. It will turn on still but now it has a computer screen setup on the screen, is there a way I can get it back to normal?

I accidentally washed my 6th generation iPod nano. It will turn on still but now it has a computer screen setup on the screen, is there a way I can get it back to normal? I can plug it into my computer and it works and I've click the restore button that comes under the nano's summary when it's plugged in. Any type of help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Take your iPod Nano back to the Apple Store.  Let them see what you are seeing.  Only this time............
Prior to leaving the Apple Store:    ***Make sure you have the store staff power the iPod Nano up and demonstrate that it is indeed working properly to your satisfaction.***
