Sending mail in background

Hello All,
I have a lotus note client installed on my my machine. I want to build a java code, which will automatically sends an email in the background.
For eg. a JFrame application with a submit button. When I click a button, a mail should be sent in background using lotus notes. What all configurations I need to do with my lotus notes client and also if possible let me know what all API I can use.

I'm not sure which part you're confused about - the sending mail part
or the background part. Doing work in the background just means
doing it in a separate thread. For sending mail, see

    As per client requirement we need to send spool detail to user in EXCEL format.

    Now the user wants the files in EXCEL format.
    I had checked in SCOT and doesn't found any useful setting that will make the required changes.

  • How to send "SPOOL" on SAP MAil or external mail in background???

    I tried using 'SO_DOCUMENT_REPOSITORY_MANAGER' function but it failed when I run it in background. I learned that it calls a screen at the middle of the process which needs user input to go on with the process.
    Is there other way that I could send spool on SAPMail or external Mail in background??? Any suggesstions will be greatly appreciated.. thanx...

    its work fine in foreground but do nothing in background  ,

    For the situation, I write a background CO program to get all uploaded file (from first three block) and grouping this customized CO parameter with "Send an E-Mail in Background with Attachment" CO.

    Hi i realise that The LIST_TO_ASCII thing is not working correctly in background because the the list-processing in beckground is working not the same as in dialog i think.
    I can only get the last page of the list out when running in background. Any solution to this?

    I am running a program in backgorund.
    After the completion, I am convertin gthe spool into PDF format and sending it to mail.
    In SAP 4.6 B it was working.
    But now in SAP 4.7 the mail is not working.

    I create a guided procedure which contain 4 sequential block.
    in first 3 block, every user will upload their own file.
    In the last block, I want collect all uploaded file, and pass to CO "Send an E-Mail in Background with Attachment" to mail to the user who assign to the fourth block.
    Any idea about what block type I should use in fourth block?

  • Changing layout at runtime, executing background job and sending mail inXLS

    When i execute my program in foregroung by manually changing value of s_job = 'X' in debugging mode it is sending the correct XLS file via mail with all the data , whereas  when i execute my program in backgroud mode it sends incomlete XLS file via mail, it has only first 2 records in any layout........can anybody please help in this regard....

    Take a look at the documentation of FM 'SO_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1' for parameter PACKING_LIST. I think you should set t_packing_list-head_num to a different value than 0 for the second attachment.

  • Use of ABAP expression in the Send Mail Header and Text

    Hi Workflow Gurus,
    I have a requirement wherein I have to inform the Manager of a user that his/her request for leave availment has been approved. However, we need to show the users name for the Manager to easily identify the user.
    Now, I checked the send mail step and it is possible to insert an expression, but the available expressions are confined within the containers available. Hence, we only have the user id of the workflow initiator.
    Is there a way to place a code in the send mail expression which will determine the user's employee name given the user id as opposed to having to create an FM and a method to determine the users name? Or is the only recourse to develop and fm and a method to determine these details in the background and pass it to the containers for extraction?

    If you don't have for example the employee name in the available container elements, you need to add it and do the necessary coding/development for it. Classically employee or user data has been retrieved by using a certain standard background task to get the user/employee object based on the user ID. This will require an additional background step but no coding since the task includes the coding already.
    It is anyhow possible to try to get the data for example with functional methods by using container operations  in the workflow (or it is also possible to do this in binding too) - but then you need to develop a functional method(s). In other words you can use a functional method for example in your binding or in a container operation. Check for example Jocelyn Dart's blog about functional methods. Anyhow, how well the functional methods will work depends on the SAP system version.
