Sending mail with new SMTP server

I recently switched from a tel.internet provider to COMCAST cable.
I want to use my MAIL program, but each time I try to send mail, a box appears on my screen showing my old provider. I then have to click and the mail goes out.
I have reset my COMCAST settings properly. COMCAST says it is a Apple computer setting problem. What steps do I have to take to get my MAIL to work properly?

Thank you VERY much for your reply.
The message that appears when I send something is:
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
MESSAGE delivery failed.
The sender address [email protected] was rejected by the server.
The server response was: 5.1.0 Authentication required.
You can try to send using a different server. All messages will use this server until you quit or change your network settings.
Send message using: smtp.gis net
smtp.mac.com
Edit Message Use Selected Served Try Again Later
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Later today I will try to follow the procedure you suggested and post a reply.
F.Y.I., I previously changed the settings needed by my previous server to ones required by Comcast.

  • Can't Send Mail Via HughesNet SMTP Server

After installing 10.5 I find that I can receive mail from my ISP (HughesNet) but I can't send mail through the smtp server. I've tried every setting possible and even duplicated the settings off my wife's 10.4.10 iMac and I still can't send mail. All I see is that the smtp service is "Offline."
Fortunately, I have a .Mac account so I can send mail using that smtp server. But I'd like to be abel to use my HughesNet server.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

My mom uses RoadRunner by Time Warner. She was able to receive email using Leopard and Mail but not send. SMTP server was the big problem like everyone else here experienced. We finally were able to get it to work using many ideas here. What we did:
    1) Delete com.apple.mail.plist from the User/Library/Preferences folder (BACK UP YOUR EMAIL FIRST)
    2) Open Mail and create a new account but disable the automatic set-up feature, put your info in manually.
    3) Uncheck " Use only this server" from the outgoing mail
    4) Under the Advanced tab on Mail Prefs "port set to 25", Uncheck "SSL" box, and uncheck "Use Authentication"
    5) Now hit Create
It took Mail about 20 minutes to contact the SMTP server, but it did and now I can send and receive Mail without any problems on her computer.
Bad Apple...stop criticizing MS and Vista when your own house is not in order yet. Hope this helps someone out there.....

  • Write error. [Error sending mail message to SMTP server. Return code: [].]:

    Hi ,
I am getting the below error when scheduling a report which is larger in size in excel format.
write error. [Error sending mail message to SMTP server. Return code: [].]: [CrystalEnterprise.Smtp]
The same error does not come up when sending the same report in XLS format using outlook.
Can some one confirm if this error is because of the size of the report as I see a different error in XIR2 incase the size the exceeds the email server limit.
    ~Neethi

    Hi,
    this could be
Maybe you have different limits for service smtp account (which the BO Server should use) and User smtp accounts.
Thats why you can sent it via outlook and not from the BO Server.

  • Can't Send Mail with Same Outgoing Server

I have 2 Roadrunner accounts that use the same outgoing smtp server. In order for me to send email (receiving POP email is not a problem), I have to set the outgoing server for port 25, no SSL and no authentication. I can get one of the accounts to work. But, when I try to set up the 2nd roadrunner account with the same settings on the same outgoing server, I get an error from OSX mail telling me the following:
    "Could not save the changes
The servers marked with alert icons are in conflict and cannot be saved. Two servers cannot share the same address and authentication settings. Resolve the conflicts and try again."
Can someone help me figure out how to get around this? I'd really like to send mail from my accounts.
    Thanks!

    Welcome to Apple's discussion groups.
Perhaps I'm missing something, but can't you have both accounts use the same SMTP server? If you're still trying to create the second account using the account creation wizard, I'd try giving it dummy SMTP information, then change it to use the real SMTP server once the account is created.

  • Send mail without local SMTP server

    Hey guys,
Are there any API packages, that one can use with Java mail API to encode a mail to SMTP and send to receipent mail host directly. (without using a local SMTP server)
I am not talking abt bulk mailer packages. Just an API package that we can program to.
    Appreciate your help guys
    thanx !

Ex: I want to write a simple SMTP client.
But i don't want the user to have to input a smtp server address. This is similar as if you wanted to write a simple browser - without wanting to bother the user to provide the URL's to browse!
There is no "default mail host". Can not be generally - the network situations can be considerably different. One box is a standalone one with maybe a modem link, the other is on a LAN, the third one is a multi-address host itself bridging a LAN and a WAN etc.
    De nada.

    Thanks!

  • Problem of sending mail with MTA

    Hi,
I have installed Sun Messaging Server, but I have a problem to send mail to other SMTP server over internet, like gmail, hotmail... So I have tried to send an email using javamail and I get this exception "530 5.7.1 Relaying not allowed", that mean that I don't have a Relay SMTP to routing the messages. But the idea that I have, is that the MTA installed with Messaging Server play the role of SMTP Relay.
So this idea is true, so I think is can be I problem of configuration, and I need to have may own SMTP Relay and don't using ISP Relay.
and I thank you for your help,
    Mabrouk.

This indicates that Messaging Server is unable to connect to the yahoo mail servers.
I have configured my server to use mydomain.com with ip 41.x.x.xHow did you configure your server to achieve this -- what settings did you add/change?
but when I see this log [email protected] is converted to [email protected] and 192.168.3.2 is mailhost which is behind firewall in DMZ, So it may be the problem of NAT, I don't know!!!
Given that Messaging Server cannot connect to the yahoo mail servers, the problem appears to be at the networking level so the firewall is most likely blocking the outgoing port 25 connection.
When you are on the Messaging Server system, what output do you get for the following command:
    telnet a.mx.mail.yahoo.com. 25Regards,

  • Can't Send Mail With Entourage

I am able to send mail via my SMTP server from my office network, but not from my home network. If I try and send mail from home, I get the following:
Entourage cannot connect to the server. Verify that your computer is connected to the network.
I can receive fine, just can't send.

I am not positive, but it sounds to me as if your home ISP is blocking SMTP on port 25 to your work email server. If so, you have a couple of options. If your work mail server has an alternative port for SMTP submission, tell entourage to use that port, instead of port 25 (often port 587). I think that is under your account settings in the advanced options for SMTP. The other option is to use your ISP's outgoing mail server. The catch here is that you will need to switch SMTP servers when not at home, and back again when you are. As I recall, Entourage is not very good about letting you store more than one SMTP server per account, so that will be a manual change at each location. Hope that helps...

  • Write error. [CrystalEnterprise.Smtp]: [Error sending mail message to SMTP

    Hi,
The below error messgage i am getting while scheduling report in CMC. My report getting refreshed successfully but while posting refreshed file(Excel) it is not posting and throwing below error.
    Error Message:
write error. [CrystalEnterprise.Smtp]: [Error sending mail message to SMTP server. Return code: [].]
please provide some help on this.
    Thanks
    Vivek

    Hi Vivek
Mails to the destinations are delievered by SMTP server. Size of the file in the mail depends on the SMTP server.
For example, If SMTP server does not permit file size more than 2MB then that file won't be delievered.
For testing purpose copy the instance generated in Filestore to your local drive and send this instance using your mail client to
    desired destination.
You can try sending large size file from your mail client to test SMTP server capacity of sending large size file.

  • Send email from OWB with authenticated SMTP server (AUTH_LOGIN)

    Hi all,
I want to send email from Oracle Warehouse Builder 11.2.0.2 using a SMTP server with basic authentication (AUTH_LOGIN).
I've created an ACL for OWBSYS user according to note ID 1229769.1 in support.oracle.com.
But, I need to configure again the ACL to connect to the SMTP server using user and password.
I read the article in metalink, *How to Send an Email Using SMTP over an SSL Connection [ID 1323140.1]*+
but I don't know how can I configure again the ACL for use in OWB.
How OWB is able to authenticate with the SMTP server?
    Thanks!

  • Sending mail with SMTP sends it twice

I'm sending a text mail, and with my ISP's smtp server it works fine. With my employer's SMTP server, I get each mail that is sent twice. I'm not sure why but I know it's not a problem with the code because I've compared the code to the examples and also because it works fine with my ISP's SMTP server. If I use Outlook to send mail with my work SMTP server I get the emails only once. I saw on jGuru someone posted the same question with no response. Any ideas???
    Michael

    hi cunparis,
I have same problem. I am sending single mail but some time I got 2 mails.and aslo according to sendmail logs the mails are in fact sent twice.I would like to add one more point that this is on HP-UX. So if you have solution share it with us. Thanks in advance.

  • User "null" with comcast SMTP, can't send mail with Mail 3.1

it was kind of off and on, now seems permanent. When sending mail via comcast SMTP, the following error is returned: P*lease enter the password for user “(null)” on SMTP server “smtp.comcast.net”*
The mystery is how user got to be "null". Deleting the account and redoing it doesn't help. Changing port to 25 and 587 don't work. I get mail fine, just can't send. Yes, my user name is actually filled in on the accounts page. Gmail works fine...
    Thanks

    wierd...
blanked out my username, but Mail insists on having a username. So on a lark I put back my username with the @comcast.net domain and it worked (one test message anyway). I left the password filled in 'cuz I hate having to fill my password in every time.
So thanks for joggling the idea bank!
