Sending midi control info back to controller

I have a livid controller that includes LED indicators for faders and buttons.  I can't figure out how to get main stage to send the current value of various controls out to the controller so that the lights reflect actual settings in main stage.  Any idea how to do this?

Hi
For this to work it is essential for the external controller to accept bi-directional communication: some do, some don't.
Assuming your device does, in Layout mode select the screen controls one at a time and select the device (and port) in the "Send Value to" box in the Inspector

  • De-assign MIDI control?

    Is it possible to de-assign a MIDI control? As it is, two of the rotary controllers on my Axiom 25 are assigned to channel strip faders and pans, respectively. This seemed to be so by default; none of them show up in the Controller Assignments pane. Does anyone know if there is a way to delete these assignments?

    Your controller is sending MIDI volume (7) and Pan (10) data, which the selected channel will respond to.
    If you don't want your controller to control the channel strip, then don't send that info, or change the CC numbers the controller sends. There are ways of filtering, or transforming it in Logic, but the simplest solution is to not send those specific messages which have a specific MIDI function in the first place.
    If you want to use you controller to control other things, stay away from using those specific MIDI CC numbers that do specific things (modulation, volume, pan, expression, bank changes, mode changes etc)

  • ActionScript 3.0 -- Sending MIDI messages

    I'm looking for ActionScript 3.0 methods that allow me to
    send NoteOn MIDI messages and MIDI continuous controller streams
    such as pitch bend.
    Last time I checked Flash had very limited MIDI control -- it
    could only play whole MIDI files! Does ActionScript 3.0 have offer
    more specific control?
    Anybody in the know?
    MIDI is the most efficient and flexible music delivery tool.
    It’s VERY powerful asset that Flash would be wise to support.
    When Flash/ActionScript supports MIDI, you’ll see what I
    mean. To date Flash has grossly underutilized the MIDI protocol.

    I believe this is an important point, so I'll try saying it a
    different way.
    MIDI is to digital audio as vectors are to digital artwork.
    It's great that Adobe leverages the efficiency of vector
    graphic into Flash. Imagine if animators could only use pixel base
    artwork in Flash... files would be huge, and flexibility and
    editability dramatically reduced.
    The lack of MIDI support in Flash’s "audio toolbox" is
    tantamount to Flash without vectors.
    I strongly encourage Adobe to expand ActionScripter by adding
    extended MIDI support. PLEASE give ActionScripters methods for
    sending MIDI messages, such as NoteOn MIDI and continuous
    controller streams such as pitch bend. And give us tools for
    accessing an array of available MIDI synthesizers. Ideally Flash
    Player and Flash Player plug-ins will host a flexible synthesizer,
    but in the meantime, allow us to access the synths in QuickTime
    player, QuickTime plug-in, WMP or Java.

  • Sending midi via Motif USB to Logic.

    Can someone explain how to set up my Mac,Logic pro 9 & Motif es6 to send midi note messages to Logic? I just need to use my Motif as a midi controller.I downloaded the drivers on my Mac & hopefully it is there!
    Thanks.

    If it is installed correctly then...
    Open Logic, create a new project... add a software instrument track... (You can add a software instrument to that track to hear notes at this point too) select that track.. and just play notes on your Motif6  and look at the transport bar to see if those notes are being received by Logic... They will appear under Note In...
    If midi notes are not received then the Motif is not being recognised correctly by your Mac.. (It's actually nothing to do with Logic itself.. it's OS Xand the drivers you installed that control everything) and so you need to check you installed the drivers correctly but normally, it's pretty much plug and play....

  • In Logic Pro 9, how many midi controlled software instruments do you get...?

    In Logic Pro 9, how many midi controlled software instruments do you get and is there possibility to download more as it says 40 on the programs info on the Mac Store, as i intend to compose on it but with only 40 instruments it's not really worth it.
    So i was just wondering whether it let you download more for free.
    Thanks for reading
    ~Matt

    Yes: I too am interested in the software instruments available in Logic Pro: one has to be a bit wary of the jam packs because there don't seem to be many solo instruments included. But I looked at the Logic screen in an Apple store the other day, and it worked like GarageBand in
    this respect: you created a new track choosing the software instrument option and a whole lot of instruments came
    up in a column on the right: lots of solo wind instruments, plenty of keyboards and guitars of course and not very many solo strings, only one violin, in the world music subsection under Irish fiddle. Yehudi Menuhin
    where are you when we need you?
    What I've been trying to find out is which part of the purchase does this long list of software instruments arrive with, because it's basically the only reason
    I'm interested - I get on fine with gb but it
    Just hasn't got enough instruments, and as I say the jam packs don't seem
    to resolve this ? Or do they? Could someone please help
    me with this?

  • How do I get finder to recognize my hard drive after pulling my hard drive out without eject...? Is my hard drive dead? I see it in disk utility... Can I get my info back?

    I have a seagte back up plus. I pulled my hard drive out without ejecting it and now finder dosn't find it but I see it in disk utility (although I cant repair permissions) How do I get finder to recognize my hard drive after pulling my hard drive out without eject...? Is my hard drive dead? I see it in disk utility... Can I get my info back?
    Thank you so much for any help

    In Disk Utility you need to see a volume or partition in addition to the drive.
    If all you see is the drive, then when you ejected it you proably corrupted the volume or partition on the drive.
    If that is true then your chances of getting anything back are slim at best.
    About the only thing I know that might work not is to send the disk out to a service for recovery. This is going to cost like $$$$.
    Is the data worth that much?

  • How do I send my BMP info from logic to pedals and keys?

    How do I send my BMP info from logic to pedals and keys?
    Is it possible to sync my logic bmp with my microkorg so that my korg automatic will sync with the BMP from logic?

    I'm not faniliar with the Micro, but logic outputs mtc and midi clock. The serttings are under project settings/synchronization. You'll have to set the Micro to external sync and be sending midi info from your computer to the Micro. Then if you hit play or record in Logic, the micro will chase it.

    I have a new Macbook pro running 10.8.2 and I am trying to send midi singals to an Elation Magic 260 light controller. I have an M-Audio Midisport USB Uno connected from the macbook to the magic 260. I have installed the drivers for the uno, I can see it show up in my AMS screen and have created an external device for my Magic 260. When I go to test the setup...I get no sgnal coming from the macbook. Just wondering if anyone out there can offer some insight or advice?

  • Query  related to the transfer of the control to the other controller.

    Hi all,
    I have a query related to the transfer of the control to the other controller.
    I have components A and B .From a view of component A I neeed to open a window which belong to component B.Problem is that ,if I use create_window_for_cmp_usage( ) and the open( ) method and after that there is some code,then that code is getting executed before the window is opening.
    I want that the control should be back to the these code after the window is poped up and  after clossing the window.
    Eg
    method ONACTIONOPEN_WINDOW .
    DATA lo_window_manager TYPE REF TO if_wd_window_manager.
      DATA lo_api_component  TYPE REF TO if_wd_component.
      DATA lo_window         TYPE REF TO if_wd_window.
      lo_api_component  = wd_comp_controller->wd_get_api( ).
      lo_window_manager = lo_api_component->get_window_manager( ).
      lo_window         = lo_window_manager->create_window_for_cmp_usage(
                         interface_view_name    = 'ZHELLO_WORLD'
                         component_usage_name   = 'USAGE_HELLO'
                       title                  =
                       close_in_any_case      = abap_true
                         message_display_mode   = if_wd_window=>co_msg_display_mode_selected
      lo_window->open( ).
      data a type i.
      data b type i.
      a = 2.
      b = 3.
      a = a + b.
    endmethod.
    In this case I am calling  ONACTIONOPEN_WINDOW method.But before opening the window the a iscalculated here.I want that after popuping  the window the calculations should be done .
    How will I achieve this.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    You will have to do your calculation as an event in your new window, or capture the closing of the new window as an event in your currenbt view and do your calculations in the event.

  • Midi controlled sounds

    My midi controlled sounds cut off when controller keyboard note is lifted creating a click as the "sample is stopped" any Ideas ?
    this is domianent on piano patches

    Thanks for your reply Blueberry. The fact that I have overlapping objects is not in dispute here. What effect does it have? I don't understand what difference it makes in terms of the operations within MainStage2. That's what the question is.
    As it turns out, there are several objects highlighted in blue (in layout view), but that doesn't tell me what it means. In the layout view, I had put pedals and switch controllers together based on the keyboards they are connected to, and they match the physical layout I have on the floor. I also put pitch and mod wheels next to each of the keyboards. I don't know whether I need to do this, but I thought it would help to see what's going on, and to map functions with controls.
    Is it an innocuous message telling me that the graphic might not be clear, or is it saying that there is an underlying configuration issue which will prevent operation ? If it's graphical, then it still looks like I want it to look, but if it's something programmatic which will disable functionality, then that's a different story. In that case, I want to know how to resolve the issue, otherwise there is no issue from my perspective. Things look like I want them to look.
    Still looking for something more conclusive.
    Thanks,

  • Sending MIDI

    How do i see what channels i am sending MIDI out from?. Basically I'm trying to update my Waldorf Blofeld and it looks like I'm sending data into Logic but it's not sending the update firmware back to the Blofeld? So i need to know if I'm sending on the correct channels?.

  • Sending Midi Timecode to ETC Ion Lighting Console

    Hello,
    I am not very experienced with MIDI at all, but I am helping to explore options for a project I am involved with.   Does anyone know if Audition 3.0 supports MIDI Show Control (MSC) or if there are any 3rd party plugins that add this functionality?
    Basically, we are putting on a light show production in our city.  We want Audition to run the audio and lighting console.  The ETC Ion console can accept midi cues to trigger stop/go cues on the console but I believe it has to be a MSC setup, not just straight MIDI.
    Another way to do this is if Audition sends the time code via MIDI we can run it that way. Does MIDI send a timecode?
    Does any of this sound possible?
    Thanks,

    In Mutlitrack mode Audition can send MIDI Timecode.

  • Controlling ESP 300 motion controller via Labview

    Hi all,
    It's for the first time I try to communicate with other devices using Labview. I made a VI (07_rs232.vi) to send commands to ESP 300 motion controller via RS232. This VI should make zig-zig move using two axis (2 and 3). When I'm running this VI slowly (Highlighted execution) or with smaller count of iterations (4x4) everything works fine. But when iteration count is higher error on the device occurs ("command does not exist"). Does it have connection with the memory of the ESP 300? Am I writing too many commands to its memory? I have no experience with this. I appreciate any kind of help.Message Edited by ceties on 09-18-2006 09:34 AM

    Hi,
    For some reason, the link you gave doesn't work ...
    Sory I forgot the subVIs... here is the dll with everything. I didn't use the VIs from NewPort because the code was quite poor.
    You can use th subVIs to :
     - read axis position or informations
     - send command to be executed
     - send "question" and read the "answer"
    It's quite easy to use because the VISA session will be help in the FGV (blue VI), use it to open the session at the beginning of your process, use it for controlling your axis and use it also at the end to close the VISA session.
    Hope thi help
    BTW : aboute the "\r" well yes it is required as an end of message character

  • MIDI control besides the basics

    Hi,
    I'm rocking iPad Garageband from an M-Audio Oxygen49 MIDI controller keyboard.
    I'd like to use the sliders on my keybaord to control different parameters in the instruments, like the filters on synths, or the drawbars in the organ.
    Does anyone know if these instruments can be controlled in this way by MIDI?
    Thanks
    Paul

    Anyone got song position midi control to work with the duet or any other control surface?
    The Key Command dialog handles much better with any midi controllers. It supports multiple midi events, sysex messages etc... For example I can use same CC# number with different ranges to control Rewind, Forward i.e CC12 ( 0-0 ), CC12 ( 1-1 ) assigned for different buttons of my external controller.

  • Content has not sent any info back to the LMS after the LMSInitialise

    We created a content piece with Cpativate 3 and it looks like
    the content has not sent any info back to the LMS after the
    LMSInitialise. So as per the SCORM standards, the LMS marks it as
    complete when the player window closes.
    The content needs to send back a status of incomplete as soon
    as it has done the LMSInitialise. The lesson_status = incomplete
    was sent by the LMS to the content, not the other way round.
    Is this because the content was delaying sending back a
    lesson_status of incomplete to the LMS, so the LMS was just marking
    it as complete if the content was closed too early.
    If anyone has had a similar issue like this and discovered a
    fix, please let me know.
