Sending movie made out of several files (iMovie 4.0)

Hi, everyone
I shoot football practice on occasion and would like to be able to take six or eight individual files and turn them into one movie. Whatever I did only sort of works. It looks good on my end but it's only 24 KB compared to hundreds of MB for the individual files. So, when I send my "compilation" file to the producers who post it, it not surprisingly doesn't work. How do I compile several files into one movie while having the gigantic file size?

Hi
Exactly as QuickTimeKirk writes.
The movie You made as 24KB - is just an alias to the real material elsewhere on Your Mac.
Sending the alias breakes the link to Your hard disk.
24 KB is equal to one or a few frames - so it can not contain a movie any size
(except stupidly low resolution of a few pixlars per frame - never to be seen)
alt. is to burn down on a DVD and post
or put a QuickTime movie onto an USB-memory (but formatted correctly) and post this

Just curious as to why it's coming up as a copyright violation?
Hard to say.  I think FaceBook errs on the side of abundance caution when they detect anything that sounds like music.
It's also possible to that people use samples of various pieces of iLife audio contest to create a piece of work that they then copyright.

  • Importing movies made on earlier verson of imovie

If someone can help me, you have no idea how happy I'll be!
I had just put in a huge amount of time to make amovie of a wonderful weekend in Paris, and the next day my mac book "ate" half a dozen programs including imovie & idvd. I had not yet burned my movie because I needed to go out & get double layer dvds, but I had saved it in a project file. The apple people said that since I have upgraded to a newer operating system, the only way to get imovie back was to purchase iLife08. I have and it's installed, though for the first 5 days imovie would not launch!
Now it opens and I have found no way to get my former projects into the new version of imovie. Since installing iLife 08, they show up in my hard drive as movies but no longer say imovie project file. The only one I really care about is the new one, since the few earlier projects are viewable on websites etc.
I really want to get my paris project back and burned and posted to the web for my fellow travellers.
    Can anyone help?!?!?

I don't think you mentioned which version of iMovie you had used earlier.
However, now that you have purchased iLife '08, you can download iMovie '06. This will not replace iMovie8, but will have its own folder.
    Go here http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/imovieHD6.html
Below is the text from that page. Hope that does the trick for you.
    About iMovie HD 6
iMovie HD 6, previously distributed with iLife ’06, is available for download for those who have purchased and installed iLife ’08.
    System Requirements
The minimum requirements for iMovie HD 6 are:
    - A Macintosh computer with a PowerPC G4, G5, or Intel Core processor
    - 256 MB of RAM; 512 MB recommended
    - High definition video requires a 1 GHz G4 processor or faster and 512 MB of RAM
    - Mac OS X 10.3.9 or Mac OS X 10.4.3 or later; Mac OS X 10.4.4 recommended
    - Mac OS X 10.4.4 (or later) required for themes, real-time video effects, and audio effects

  • How do I open movies made with older versions of iMovie?

I have newer iMac with iMovie 10.0.02 and would like to open movies created with an older version of iMovie.  I was informed by the people at the Apple Store this could be done.  Does anyone know how?  In the end I would like to create high def copies that can be viewed on a Mac laptop.

    Hi
I was informed by the people at the Apple Store this could be done.
That depends up-on from what old iMovie version.
    - iMovie 1 to HD6 - is one program and it's evolution - Will Not be possibly to open with any other program.
    - iMovie'08 v.7 to iMovie'13 v.10.0.x - is a compleatly other product (wrongly named as iMovie in my opinion) - can open older files from this evolution. (Not from iM 1 - 6)
So it depends greatly from what version that You mean.
    Please tell.

  • IMOVIE 10.0.2 - Shared it via file then sent that to my iPhone ; the 13ses movie is OUT OF FOCUS ! HELP

IMOVIE 10.0.2 - I created a short movie and sharing it via file then sending it to my phone ! however once my iPhone receives it and I watch the movie on my iPhone its out of focus and blurry ! I been trying to figure out why and fix the problem !

    Hey, Clinton,
Thanks for your help!  I was able to go to iMovie 9.0.9 and import video.  I was still curious as to why it didn't work in version 10.0.2, so I contacted Apple tech support.  They were't sure at first as to why it wouldn't work, so they had me delete iMovie 10.0.2 and then re-install it just to see if something had gone wrong when it upgraded.  That didn't change anything.  In the end, they determined that 10.0.2 doesn't support the Hollywood Dazzle DV bridge.  But I have a workaround path from them that I will share so that it's possible to import to 9.0.9, then move it to 10.0.2.
         1.  Open iMovie 9 (finder/applications/iMovie 9.0.9
         2.  Import from Dazzle Bridge to iMovie 9, note which event you are importing the clips into
         3.  Close iMovie 9
         4.  Open iMovie 10 (probably in the dock)
         5.  File/Import Media...navigate to home(this was my name, on the left side of iMovie, under Favorites)/Movies/iMovie events.  Find the event folder that contains your Dazzle clips (tip-try sorting by date modified to look at recent events.)
         6.  Select the clips and import.  Click the blue "Import Selected" button on the bottom right.
You may get a message that some files cannot be imported.  Click continue import.  It's a little glitchy.  It imports your clip, and also makes a copy of it, too.  On the copy, the audio is normal, but the video is choppy.  In any case, you would delete the copy, anyway.
Hope this additional information helps somebody else.  Thanks again, Clinton for helping me!

  • .mov movie made with iMovie imported in iTunes

I made (with iMovie) a movie and imported in iTunes where it works perfectly. But when I go to advanced to use "convert selection for ipod" I can't. I have only the line convert to mp3.....
Any help? Maybe iTunes doesn't convert .mov files for iPod use?
    THANKS

probably yes, but I'm not able to open the .mov file in imovies. I made it when I had imovies 04 than after upgrading to imovies 06, all the files look like quicktime files and I can't open it in imovies 06.... So, now I have only the .mov file. It works in quicktime and iTunes but not anymore in iMovie. Any idea?
    Thanks in advance!

  • What app should I get to burn home movies made in iMovie

I was surprised to find my new mac book pro doesn't include the ability to burn a dvd from iMovie.  What app should I get to burn home movies made in iMovie.

I have Burn, it is a poor substitute for iDVD.
There is NO alternative.   But iDVD is very easy to get.
iDVD is a “Must Have".   (Yes, it should be included.)
Call Apple they will sent out iDVD at no charge.
    800-692-7753
    800-275-2273
If you are still within your 15 day return period,  nicely explain that you may return the computer without iDVD. That usually does the trick.
Most people report that by asking here:   http://www.apple.com/feedback/idvd.html
    or here:   http://www.apple.com/contact/
they got a free copy of iDVD.
If that doesn't work you can purchase iLife 11  (includes iDVD) on disk (don't get the download) for about $39.

  • What software should I use to create one long movie out of several short clips?

Hi, I'm not a future film maker.  I'm just trying to find the easiest way to stick a bunch of imported Quicktime movie clips into a single file.  Got to be an easier way than firing up iMovie and figuring that out.
Thanks for your assistance with this n00b question.

I'm just trying to find the easiest way to stick a bunch of imported Quicktime movie clips into a single file.  Got to be an easier way than firing up iMovie and figuring that out.
It normally depends on what software you have available and how you plan to play the file. For 'drag 'n drop' ease I would probably use the free MPEG Streamclip app.
    1) Give the files to be joined alpha-numeric names indication the order in which you want them joined. (E.g., if you have 8 clips to join together, name them clip1, clip2, ..., clip8)
    2) Select and simultaneously 'drag 'n drop' all files to the open MPEG Streamclip wirk window.
    3) Play/scrub the playhead to ensure the clips are present and ordered as desired.
    4) Save the resulting file as required. Note: The "Save As..." option will quickly save the joined files to a new files container but, depending on audio and video compression formats used in the original clips, does not ensure all audio or all video ends up on the same audio and video tracks. If you want to ensure all all audio is flattened to single audio track and all video is flattened to a single video track, then you you may have to export the joined content. (I.e., some player apps like the TV only play one selected/defaulted audio and one video track at a time unlike apps like the QT 7 player which can simultaneously play up 99 audio and/or video tracks simultaneously.)

  • Sending movie to imovie

I am trying to get a home movie thats on dvd sent to imovie. Is this possible or do I have to first download it to my movie folder? Either way I cant seem to figure out how to do either. When I put the DVD in the drive all it will do is play on the DVD player.

Here is how I do it, with no quality loss that I can see. (And I'm picky.)
Use Cinematize 2, I use it with iMovie 06 (and a few times with iMovie 11) and iDVD 09/11. It has several modes of converting the data. One mode is called "lossless".
    http://www.miraizon.com/products/cine2features.html
I would use iMovie 06 with iDVD 09/11, why?
iMovie 09/11 uses 'single field processing' meaning every other horizontal line of the video is thrown out, which reduces the sharpness of the footage. iMovie 06 uses ALL of the image to form the video.

Cinematize 2 + iMovie 06 + iDVD 09/11 works great for me.
Use Professional Quality in iDVD, good for 2 Hrs on a single layer DVD, 3 Hrs 45 Mins on a Dual layer DVD. I use DVD+Rs only.

  • Hi when i open my application folder, all the application is shown in trash folder. when i click the application it says this app is in trash first move it out. and when i try to open through finder go it says this file doesn't exist. can some1 plz help?

hi when i open my application folder, all the application is shown in trash folder. when i click the application it says this app is in trash first move it out. and when i try to open through finder> go it says this file doesn't exist. can some1 plz help? how can i put all my application through application folder?

Something really odd is going on. In your first screen shot, I noticed that the Applications folder does not have the proper icon displayed in the side bar. Also, in the title bar it lists it as Applications 08-59-29-909.
Not sure where it's picking up that odd name, unless it's because it's still truly within the Trash folder.
Try this. In the Finder > Preferences > General > turn on "Always open folders in a new window". (I have a feeling you have the default setting with this off).
Now, in Finder > Go > move down and open the Applications Folder from there. Now open the folder where you see all your applications that you show in your screen shot, select all, and move them to this true appliactions folder.
This is what you should properly seeing (but with different apps listed):
See how the Applications folder has the icon of the letter A shaped with a pencil, ruler & pen.

  • FCP Splits QT movie file into several files... problem and solution.

    Hi All,
I was having problems exporting a QT movie (Video Only) of a 20 min Reel within a Feature Film I edited. The Database was quite large - the film was 2Hrs and Footage was about 12X.
FCP would split the QT movie file into several files - only one of which was openable (either in FCP or the QT player). To my surprise, I also found that even though the file opened fine, I would get an error message when trying to copy it or its associated files over to another HD (Tiger would abort, after giving me an error No. and saying that there was an error while copying). The problem was repeatable and specific to this sequence.
After some testing, I found that copying the clips (Video Only) to another sequence and re-exporting, seemed to solve the problem. My take on this is that too many ( > 12? ) Audio tracks causes problems in FCP when the database is large.
But I do need these additional tracks. Any work arounds?
    Thanks,
    RD

First, look in System Settings, and see if you've checked the box to limit file size to 2GB. Uncheck that box. See if that helps.
Or it could just be a corrupt project causing the problem.
