Sending multiple SMS messages

I just got my iphone yesterday, and cannot figure this out. I need to send multiple texts at once (ex: hey guys, got a new phone- here's my new number) but I can only send to one person at time. Is it possible to send to multiple people at once?

SMS in iPhone is so cool however it is still at the stone age
I have posted at apple to add this feature and many others missing in this application.
In the meantime, use your email (where you can send to multiple addresses) to inform your friends about your new phone number.

Hi Guys
I am using a Nokia 5310 and was wondering if it was possible to send a sms message from my phone to my computer via Bluetooth? I can't seem to find an option to do this and don't know whether I am missing it or if it's just not possible.

You can't send an SMS. However, if the phone (I don't know the 5310) has a note-taking application where you can create text notes/memos, the application might have an option to send the note/memo over Bluetooth. You might also be able to find some Java application to send text messages (still not SMS, technically) over Bluetooth, if the phone doesn't have such a feature built-in.

Delayed sending of SMS message not working

My Curve has an option to delay the sending of SMS messages found by clicking the menu key in a new SMS message and "OPTIONS" it has an option for "delivery period" with choices of "immediate, 15 mins, 30 mins, and so on" but when I select a delay, it sends the message as soon as I hit send? Does anyone know how to work this feature? I can't find anything about it in the manual.....

That's unfortunate. However, without more information, there's probably not going to be much anyone here can suggest. Try contacting your carrier and making sure your account is properly provisioned.

I'm unaware of this type of option. Unfortunately you are going to have to keep doing it manually.

It could be a case that the network you are connected to is having problems.
If you go to Settings > Carrier > Turn off Automatic > This will prompt the device to do a manual search. Once completed chose a different network and test.
Also is it a particular number it's failing to or have you tried a few?

Yes I have turned imessage off a number of times and that does not seem to he doing the trick, and it is not delivering them then I have to press on the photo and either chose try again or send as text message, I have had the setting on to not allow sending pictures as texts (so they can only send as imessage) since I got my phone in January and it has always worked until now, I have turned that off to allow me to send them as picture messages now but it's still not working over iMessage, I have also tried it using 3G and not wifi

Why can I not send a SMS message to a non iPhone when MMS is turned off? I'm getting charged an MMS every time I send a text to a non iPhone so have turned off MMS. Have tried all sorts of work arounds include rests etc. Anybody any ideas?

Both of those are carrier features, contact your cell phone provider and ask them why.

Seems like on cell phone I have an exception because I can see the line "Error occured!"
I have no idea why... :(

when you use smsconn = ( MessageConnection )Connector.open( "sms://:50000" ); it means that you are trying to connect to a sms server. So if you don't have a sms server on your computer, an exception is thrown !
if you just wanna test sms sending, put the phone number in the string like this

How can I send an SMS message to a group?

I cannot seem to figure out how to add a second recipient to the SMS message. I routinely beep out messages to the 5 people I work with, I'd hate to send it out to each separately.

At this time, multiple recipient SMS messaging is not supported on the iPhone.

PC Suite SMS programme sends multiple SMS

Hi,
If I write an SMS using the message editor in the PC Suite message centre it multiplies the number sent as soon as I press "send message". Usually by 4. So a message sent to "Friend" will suddenly show up as "Friend", "Friend", "Friend", "Friend" the moment I press and be sent four times. A message sent to "Friend 1", "Friend 2" will be sent to "Friend 1", "Friend 1", "Friend 1", "Friend 1", "Friend 2", "Friend 2", "Friend 2", "Friend 2". This appears to happen with all contacts.
Bizarre. Anyone with any ideas?

Yes - the poster says "...it actually sends four identical messages instead of one!" this is the same symptom.

All, as far as I can remember. I'll try an 'unknown' number not in my phone book later this evening. It's not just foreign numbers or when using a foreign operator as seemed to be the case with the Communicator user in the other thread.
* Is this happening even if you send message via phone?
No - messages entered into the phone are unaffected - it's only PC Suite messages that are affected. It appears affected at the message editor level - I'll have "Friend" listed as the recipient but as soon as I press Send the To: field will immediately jump to showing "friend, friend, friend, friend" and proceed to send the message four times.
* In case of Communication centre, is it happening with all kind of connectivity Bluetooth/IR/Cable?
I don't have IR and haven't ever got the bluetooth to work so I only use cable. I'll also have a crack at making Bluetooth work this evening & see what happens.

When sending multiple MMS messages is there a limit to how many you can send in a group? My iphone4 will not let me send more than 10. My 3gs I was able to send over 20 MMS messages at one time. when I try on this phone I get the red exclamation mark!!

When sending text messags from my iphone4 it will only allow me to send to no more that 10 contacrs at a time. On my 3GS I was able to sendto well over 20 contacts at once. When I try to send on this iphone 4 all I get is the red exclamation mark and a message saying message not send and to try again. Is there something wrong with the way I have my setting? I use this feature alot so I am really trying to figure it out. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I understand that the limit is 10 people when sending MMS messages. However there is a much higher limit for SMS messages.
If they would suit your needs, try disable the switch for "MMS messaging" on the Messages page of the Settings app.
