Sending Pages e-mail attachments to someone using previous version

Can anyone help me with a problem I'm experiencing in trying to send Pages documents as e-mail attachments to a friend, who is also a Mac user. I am using Pages version 2.0.2 and she has the older version. She cannot open my documents. I've tried opening my own, older, version of Pages and cutting and pasting the content into that. I've changed the font because she doesn't have my font. I've changed the Open With instruction on the Get Info page. All to no avail. Is there anything else I'm missing here? I'd be grateful for some advice. Many thanks.

Because Pages documents are actually packages of files, emailing them can be tricky. Many times one or more of the files isn't included in the transfer. To prevent that, before you attach to the email, archive the file. In the Finder, command-click on the document. From the contextual menu, select Create Archive For (your file name). Attach that new, archived file to your email.
Note that Pages 2's Save As function has a check box that allows you to save your document in iWork 05 (Pages 1) format. You can use that instead of cutting and pasting.

You might also try removing all gmail passwords from your keychain in Keychain Access. Then connect again and enter the password code given by Google.

Is there a way to ONLY restore your mail toolbar settings from a previous version? I did a clean install and I love it except I lost my mac mail toolbar setup and my muscle memory is all out of whack now. Is there a way to mine the old preference files I have on backup for this data?

Awesome thanks! I just replaced the new preference file with this one from my old Time Machine backup and everything is back to how it was before.

Unable to send Pages documents as attachments through Mail. Gmail considers them security risks?

Gmail will not accept Pages documents as attachments - the server will not accept them, apparently as security risks. This is the new version of Pages. Any ideas?

Apple has changed the file format in Pages 5 and Gmail, Google and DropBox are all having trouble with it. I believe DropBox may have fixed it but the others are still unable to transfer the files.
Did you previously have the older Pages/iWork? In which case it should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.
Use that.

I cannot link text boxes in Pages 5.0 like I could in previous versions. Solutions?

In previous versions of Pages, one could create text boxes and then link them. This was very useful for creating multi-page booklets with proper pagination, without having to use an expensive publishing software. Linking of textboxes is no longer available in Pages 5.0. Does anyone have a work-around for this problem?

Pages 5 has over 90+ missing features.
Pages '09 should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.
Trash or archive Pages 5 (after exporting any documents back to Pages '09 format) and review it in the App Store.

If I buy upgrade, can I still use previous version?

I am sure this question is answered on the Adobe site or in the forums somewhere, but I can't find the answer. I'm hoping that someone can point me to the official Adobe policy.
I am thinking of upgrading from CS4 to CS5, and one of the considerations which would affect my decision would be the ability to keep and use the older version on my 2nd computer (a laptop). Is this allowed? Currently I have to de-activate Photoshop on my desktop PC and activate it on my laptop in order to use it while travelling, and I always forget to do that, so I end up not using Photoshop on my laptop at all.

I am still trying to find the answer to his Subject line question. If an owner of an eligible older version of an adobe product buys the upgrade version. Can you keep using the previous version and then install and use the new upgrade copy on a different computer?
The way this was answered so far, sounds like regardless of the upgrade, that a single version copy is allowed to be installed on a desktop and laptop for mobility reasons.

Does the new version of pages for ipad have backwards compatability with previous versions of Pages?

This one question is preventing me from downloading the new version of pages - I am worried I will lose the ability to read documents made with the previous version of pages, or that they will be automatically converted into the new format without my knowing. My laptop does not have Mavericks so I will have to keep using an older version of pages here, but I am reluctant to download the new version to my ipad because of concerns that users have previously voiced about the lack of backwards compatability. Is this still the case, or is there now backwards compatability?

Apple is out to attract iOS users, who mainly do selfies and twitter. They pay better because they are undemanding, don't even notice when Apple offers them something inferior and have been broken in with the iTunes Store harness.

Cannot send Pages/Numbers/Keynote Attachments to Mail!

Hello,
I recieved an email containing a numbers spreadsheet and pages document in my mail app (me.com email address). After editing both and attempting to return to the sender in separate emails, they did not send. It came back and said, "
Reason: SMTP transmission failure has occurred
Diagnostic code: smtp;552-5.7.0 This message was blocked because its content presents a potential issue."
I am wondering if anyone has a solution to this problem or whether Apple needs to send out an update to Mavericks!

I just tried this with a Pages document (Pages 5.0), sending with Mail.app (7.0), and Mavericks, with my me.com account, to my verizon.net account, and it worked fine.
Maybe the problem is with the SMTP server you are using, or with your ISP.
I'd try a different SMTP server, and if that doesn't work, maybe call the tech support at your ISP.

Sending photos as mail attachments to PC will not open

Photo attchments sent to a PC via Mail will not open.
As per suggestions I have added the .Doc extension to JPEG s and atached to the bottom of the message.
Does any one have any further ideas I can try?

Do not change the extension to .doc - and stop listening to advice from whatever source you got that idea from. Changing the extension to .doc will make the recieving machine think the file is a Microsoft Word document... and it isn't, so Word won't be able to open it. The extension needs to be .jpeg or .jpg if the file is a JPEG.
As to opening attachments, make sure you have Edit -> Attachments -> Always Send Windows-Friendly Attachments checked. You may still have problems with recipients who are using Outlook, though. Outlook is broken when it comes to understanding HTML e-mail messages, and Mail likes to send HTML messages. (In fact, recent changes to Mail will make your message HTML, regardless of whether you have specified it to be plain text, in certain situations.)
If you find that you are unable to send to people using Outlook, and you aren't willing to ask them to switch to a non-broken mail client just for you, then you could try something like setting up a Picasa or Dropbox account and uploading your photos there.

The question I have is, how can I take the uploaded file from the context, and attach it to an email using the javax.mail.* api?
Do I need to store it somewhere first or can it be taken directly from the context attribute? If I need to store it, where do I store it?
Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

Need to send my iPhone for repair but someone using my serial number, what to do???!!

I have an iPhone 4 that is still in warranty. It won't turn on & I've tried EVERYTHING (I'm something of an iPhone geek, forever getting friends & family callng me with various iPhone related problems), I even tried begging, pleading and appealing to it's better nature but nope, it won't turn on. I tried to set up a repair online today but to my horror, some b****** is using my serial number to get their phone repaired. I'm absolutely livid, putting it mildly, how do I stop this scum usuing my warranty & get my phone fixed?? Please help!!!

So is it worth me bringing it to Apple's attention then? I was thinking of giving them a ring tomorrow because my phone really needs fixing & there's no way I'm letting some scumbag use my warranty grrrr

Since installing 8.0.1 I cannot send an attachment in AOL mail when I could with previous versions.

When I try to send an attachment in AOL mail I get an error message "We encountered a technical issue, please try again."
This happens every time over the past few days.

Never mind the above message....I uninstalled Firefox 4.0.1 and reinstalled 3.6 and then updated to 3.6.7. Now I've lost all my Bookmarks. This is really getting to be frustrating and ridiculously hard to find answers!! What's up with the brains behind Mozilla?? Are they all hacked??
