AFAIK there is no support for MMS on the iPhone. Pictures can be emailed or uploaded to the web, but not embedded in SMS.
Definite shortcoming that will hopefully be remedied in a software update in the not-too-distant future.

  • Treo 800w Sending Pics via SMS/MMS

I recently changed from a Treo 700p (Palm OS) to Treo 800w (Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro) and have noticed that I can no longer send pictures via SMS.  When I click on send my only options are to send to up load to a MS space account or send via email, with the SMS option grayed out.  I really like the ability to do this. Does anyone know if this is just not possible or a way to do this?  I am on an unlimited Sprint plan.
Post relates to: Treo 800w (Sprint)

I contacted my sprint store to return my 800 and the manager who has the 800 walked me through how to do picturemail.
Go to your sprint sowtware store on your phone then
    click on Free/demo
then click picture mail application avialible now
    then download
to send picture u must still go to pics and videos and then hit menu then select send picture mail and then menu agian and select contacs  and go ahead picture mail away
ive tried it and it works fine  I know this works with my print treo i dont know about other service providers
I hope this helps with the frustrations

  • Can I send a pic via sms text

Greetings my fellow blackberry users. I have a question pertaining to sending pics taken from my curve 8330. I know that I can send pics via email, but can I send a pic as a text from my phone to another phone?
    Thanks

Certainly. Except with a picture or file attached, it is no longer an SMS (a test based Short Message Service) but becomes a MMS (Multimedia Messages Service).
So, from your Messages screen, choose Menu > Compose MMS.

  • After upgrading to iOS 5, I cant send pics through SMS anymore??

I can no longer send pics through SMS anymore?...everytime i try to send one, it just prompts me "saving photo" for a very long time until I quit the app?

This happened to be today as well, starting at about mignight this morning. It's only affecting non-explicit material in the music section of iTunes, Movies, TV Shows and Apps seem to be unaffected.
After a lengthly attempt at fixing the problem, "Reset All Settings" seems to fix the issue (for now anyway).

  • Sending contacts via SMS

    Hi!
I would like to get your expert advice on the issue we are experiencing with our Z10 and Q10 units and this is about sending of contacts/business cards.
We are not sure if it is a network-related thing.  Tested on two different carriers as well with the same result.
The issue is that while BB Q10/Z10 have the facility to share a contact via SMS, it seems to be not working.
We do it by holding a particular contact that we wish to share, then click share icon.
From the options, we choose 'Text Messaging, fill in the 'To' field, enter a message and then press the send button.
While the .vcf is seen to be attached, nothing happens and a red clock icon just appears.
Recipient does not receive the business card.
Is this a known issue on BB10 devices?
    Thank you.
    MARVIN

    Hi manalotomarvin,
When sending a VCard via SMS, the BlackBerry smartphone switches into MMS mode. If MMS service is not enabled for the device, you will not be able to send the VCard.
I would recommend testing the MMS service by sending a photo to another contact via SMS, to see if that will send.  If this fails, I would suggest contacting the wireless network provider, to verify MMS service is enabled.
    Thanks.

  • Send credentials via sms (http APIs) ISE 1.3 patch 1

    Hi,
I am trying to send the credentials of a guest user via sms, but does not work. I used the following parameters in configuration of the SMS gateway (ISE):
    http://admin:[email protected]/cgi-bin/exec?cmd=api_queue_sms&username=admin&password=admin&destination=$mobilenumber$&api_version=0.08&channel=5&content=
when I run a test in:
ISE: Guest Access--> Configure --> Guest Types --> Contractor --> test SMS
    ...the result is satisfactory
But my sms gateway does not receive any sms, its as if the ISE not send something
    If I put this  http://admin:[email protected]/cgi-bin/exec?cmd=api_queue_sms&username=admin&password=admin&destination=999999991&api_version=0.08&channel=5&content=Mensaje+de+prueba
in a web browser, it works!
sorry for my English, thank you very much for your help!

  • Why can't i send photos via sms text?

Wondering why I can't send photos from my iphone to someone else's phone via sms text. every other phone i've had with a camera could do that. am i doing something wrong?

This doesn't sound very user friendly. I want a phone that's easy to use and doesn't require a ton of work arounds. Everybody else's phone can send and receive pictures just by knowing the other person's phone number.
They don't have to know how to send it via email.
They don't have to know what carrier the other person is using, or whether they switched carriers or not.
They don't have to go to a stupid website to receive a picture that someone sent them - a website that doesn't even work on iPhone, so they have to wait till they get home!
They don't have to tell their friends that because they have a cool new phone, they have to be treated specially so they can have fun too.
It makes iPhone users sound like a bunch of dorks with a phone which can't get pictures like everybody else can. I've been playing with mine for 4 days and it's a really great phone but I've already noticed that my crappy old Blackjack beats the pants off of it for sending pictures around without having to know who someone's cellular company is or what their email address is or whether their phone can send or receive email.

SMS is a text only service and is supported by the iPhone, what you mean is MMS. Currently the iPhone does not support MMS and as Apple do not comment on unreleased products/updates they have not indicated if they will ever add support for this.
So, in the meantime email is the only option. (You cannot use Bluetooth to send pictures either.)

  • Can`t send pics via messages

I can`t send pics on my MacPro via messages (10.8). Sending text is no problems. How can I solve the problem? Thanks.

    HI,
At the moment I cannot replicate this.
I actually came across the "Quit IMTransferAgent" elsewhere in the Messages categorised Posts here.
If I try to replicate this on my Mac then the Activity Monitor list bounces with something but I never see the process name as it finishes too quickly (even if I send from another Mac).
It tends to be the Incoming end that says the file/pic is "Waiting"
Does you Buddy see the waiting Message ?
Do they have the IMTransferAgent showing continuously in the Activity Monitor at their end ?
There will now be a break in transmission form this time zone

  • 9900 not sending pics via bbm

Hi I have nn 9900 bold for almost 2 years now and every time I wanna send n pic via bbm I must turn phone off and on then it only send 1 pic. I ve had 5 bb before and a loyal supporter. Thought update will work in future but still not looking to upgrade. Soon but would like to sort this problem and if not the ill change to samsung aswell as all my familie members aswell plse look in to this for me

Well, wiping the device is only on thing of what I recommended in that section...any thought to trying the other things? If you wish to do so, then the simplest way is to, on a PC (you cannot do this on MAC):
    1) Make sure you have a current and complete backup of your BB...you can find complete instructions via the link in my auto-sig below.
    2) Uninstall, from your PC, any BB OS packages
    3) Make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed
    http://us.blackberry.com/software/desktop.html
    4) Download and install, to your PC, the BB OS package you desire:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
It is sorted first by carrier -- so if all you want are the OS levels your carrier supports, your search will be quick. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To truly seek out the most up-to-date OS package for your BB, you must dig through and find all carriers that support your specific model BB, and then compare the OS levels that they support.
    5) Delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
6a) For changing your installed BB OS level (upgrade or downgrade), you can launch the Desktop Software and connect your BB...the software should offer you the OS package you installed to your PC.
6b) Or, for reloading your currently installed BB OS level as well as for changing it, bypass the Desktop Software and use LOADER.EXE directly, by proceeding to step 2 in this process:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Device-Software/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-Syste...
Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC.
If, during the processes of 6a or 6b, your BB presents a "507" error, simply unplug the USB cord from the BB and re-insert it...don't do anything else...this should allow the install to continue.
You may also want to investigate the use of BBSAK (bbsak.org) to perform the wipe it is capable of.
You may also want to try the "Bare Bones OS Reload Procedure" to attempt to narrow down the precise causal item:
Load your OS "bare bones"...if anything is optional, do not install it.
If the behavior presents immediately, then try a different OS with step 1
If the behavior does not immediately present, then run for as long as it takes for you to be sure that the behavior will not present.
Add one thing -- no matter how tempting, just one.
If the behavior does not present immediately, then again run for long enough to be sure it will not have the same problem
Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all things are loaded or the behavior presents
When the behavior presents, you know the culprit...the last thing you loaded.
If the behavior does not re-present, then you know that either step 1 or 2 cured it.
If the behavior presents no matter what, then you likely have a hardware level issue for which no amount of OS or software can cure.

If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:
KB19915How to perform a clean reload of BlackBerry smartphone application software using BlackBerry Desktop Software

  • Send photo via sms

    Hi,
I need a j2me app. which takes photo from camera phone ( about 2-3kb) and send this photo to other phone via sms ( maybe with 10-20 sms ). is it possible? one photo is 2000-3000 byte and one sms can transfer 160 char. ?

Yes it could be done. But who would want to send a 3K picture and pay about 4 to 8 euros for it?
Also: 160 characters are not 160 bytes. With the most effective encoding, it will give you about 140 bytes per sms. You'll also need some header info to be able to put the image together again.
