Sending Pictures in Messages

Hello everyone.
I have looking all over in the iPhone and I can't find a way to send pictures in text's to friends/family. I was wondering if this is even possible. I have recieved messages with pictures and it says I have to go to a website to redeem them.
So can someone give me some intructions on how to do this?
Thanks,
Brandon

Go to photos, tap the picture, tap the odd little upwards pointing arrow, send as email. If you know their email address use it, if you are sending to their phone (like the old MMS system worked) send it to their phone's email address. (ie [email protected]) or whatever their specific carrier's setup is like. All wireless phone carriers now have an email for every phone number to use in this manner.

    Hey lozza567,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing issues sending MMS messages. The following resource may provide a solution:
    iOS: Troubleshooting Messages
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2755
Issues with sending and receiving MMS
You will need these to send and receive MMS:
    - An iPhone 3G or later.
    - iOS 3.1 or later.
    - A cellular data connection. MMS isn't available if you are using only Wi-Fi.
    - A domestic MMS plan from your cellular provider. You may need an international messaging plan to send MMS to an international contact. Contact your carrier for more information.
    - A roaming MMS when using a cellular provider's network different from your billing cellular provider's network. Learn more about roaming and contact your carrier for more information.
To resolve issues with sending and receiving MMS, follow these steps first
    1. Go to Settings and turn airplane mode off.
    2. Go to Settings > Messages and turn MMS Messaging on.
    3. Go to Settings > Cellular and turn Cellular Data on.
    4. Go to Settings > Cellular and turn Data Roaming on if you are roaming on a cellular provider network different from your billing provider's network.
    5. Verify that you have a cellular data connection in the status bar at the top left of your iPhone.
    6. Go to Settings and turn Wi-Fi off. Open Safari and navigate to www.apple.com to verify that you have a data connection. Turn Wi-Fi back on to continue using Wi-Fi for other features. If your cellular data connection isn't available, follow these steps.
    7. Verify that you can send and receive SMS. If you are unable to send and receive SMS, see the "Issues with sending and receiving SMS" section, above.
    8. MMS may not be available while on a call. Only 3G and faster GSM networks support simultaneous data and voice calls. Learn more about which network your phone supports.
    9. Restart your iPhone.
    10. Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings on your iPhone.
    11. Reseat your SIM card.
If you are still unable to send or receive MMS, follow these steps
    1. Make sure that the contact trying to message you isn't blocked in Settings > Messages > Blocked.
    2. Go to Settings > Messages and turn on group messaging if you are sending a group message.
    3. Make sure that you are using the area code with the contact's phone number. When sending messages internationally, you also need the contact's international code.
    4. Verify a "Pay as you go" MMS plan has enough available balance. Contact your carrier if unsure of your MMS plan or available balance.
    5. If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, back up or forward important messages and delete your current messaging threads with the contact. Create a new message to the contact and try again.
    6. If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, delete and re-create the contact from the Contacts application. Create a new message to the newly created contact and try again.
    7. Back up and restore your iPhone as new.
    8. If your carrier has recently ported your phone number, the porting process may not be complete. Contact your carrier to confirm that the porting process is complete.
    9. Contact your carrier to verify that you are provisioned to send SMS and are in an area with cellular coverage.
    10. Contact your carrier to verify that there are no blocks or filters placed on your wireless account preventing you from sending SMS.
    11. Your carrier may require APN settings to be modified to use MMS. Learn more about when you should adjust APN settings.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Can't send pictures with Messages, but I can receive them.

While chatting with a friend I was trying to send him a picture using the native Mountain Lion chat client Messages.
If he sends me a picture I first see a large grey rectangle with a progress indicator which gets replaced by the sent picture once it finished loading.
If I try to send a picture it appears in the chat immediately but then gets replaced by the file name. He only sees the file name the whole time.
Both of us have Mountain Lion installed and use Messages with firewalls disabled.
We both have a googletalk account and were using that as our Jabber Messages account.
Audiochat and Videochat works without problems. Text messaging works without problems.
The only issue is me not being able to send pictures using Messages, no matter if I drag the picture into the client with finder or with iPhoto.
Is Messages using any special ports that need to get routed through?

    HI,
Both of you should use the Window Menu to open the File Transfer Window.
You may list the item as "Failed"
    Uploaded with Skitch!
The other end may say "Waiting".
If they do say "waiting" then your Buddy should open Activity Monitor (Applications/Utilities) and find the IMTransferAgent and Quit it from inside Activity Monitor
The four lower items were testing between a Jabber account and  a Google ID  ( File appears twice as the "To" and "From" in this case)
I do find my Google account tends to be the most unreliable in File Transfers or Pics-in-Chats

  • Cannot send pictures through Messages (OS X)

    Hi,
I have a new macbook pro and OS X.
I used to send pictures and messages to my friends iphone with Messages from my Macbook.
I just tried this again and while I can send messages succesfully, I cannot send any pictures. I get the error "0742xxx cannot accept file transfers".
It did use to work just fine, I have no idea why it doesnt anymore.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    Many thanks

    HI,
If the 0742xxxx is a partial phone Number it may pay to list it in your Contacts Address Card as an International number.
If it works on an iPhone as the Phone number for them it is obviously local to your country and you probably need to add the Country Code.

MMS and SMS are exchanged over a carrier's cellular network only. Contact your carrier regarding a problem with MMS/SMS.

My second issue popped up just a few days ago. I am unable to send a picture to anyone via email (gmail).  I checked to make sure MMS is enabled (it is) and I certainly have MMS provided through Verizon.
MMS has absolutely nothing to do with email.
Is this the only email account on the device? If not, are  you able to email pictures via other accounts?
Are you able to send emails with pictures attached from the gmail account on a computer?

  • HT3529 Cannot send pictures by message, tried resetting network settings, still nothing

Cannot send picture messages, tried resetting network settings still nothing

Have you checked with your carrier to make sure that your account is properly set up? Do you have MMS turned on in settings? Settings>Messages>MMS Messaging>On. Do you have an active data connection?

  • HT3529 Has anyone experienced problems sending pictures on message today?

Has anyone experienced problems sending pictures on Imessage today? Even mail has been taking a long time to receive. I work near newark airport.

Last I checked you could not access RoadRunner outgoing mail servers from outside of the RoadRunner network (i.e., the AT&T EDGE network). You can use cwmx.com as your outgoing mail server, with no ID or password, and that will work while you are on EDGE (but now when you are on WiFi).
As for junk mail, that is the scourge of the internet. Many people have many solutions - I can share with you mine. I had all my email forwarded to a free GMail account. GMail has amazingly efficient SPAM filters, and it has cut down my spam 99%. You can configure your account on the iPhone using the "Other" shortuct in such a way that emails seem to come from your Roadrunner account. The added bonus is that the GMail outgoing server works on both EDGE and WiFi, so you dont have to worry about where you are at.

  • Why won't my iPhone 4 send pictures with messaging?

Me and my brother got our iPhone 4's on january 3 2013. About 1 month ago we started having a problem with not being Able to send pics with texts. Now I what ever I try I can't send them I upgraded my phone to iOS6 and that seems to be the problem if anyone can help or tell me how to uninstall ios6 then I'd be super super thankful
    Thanks
    Sheila

Like above, you cant remove iOS 6 so you need to look at resolving the issue instead.
go to settings>messages> and make certain MMS is selected (multi-media messages - aka picture messages)
If you are still having issues, I would recomend going to settings>general>reset>then reset network settings - this will only reset the way your phone tries to send messages with the service provider.
If still having issues, contact your carrier to see if you have text messaging issues with your carrier before restoring your phone.
    Good Luck!
