Sending/Printing Mail to Avoid Printing Attachment in Body of E mail?

When I send an email using Apple's Mail program and the other party receives it, the attachment is printed in the body of the email. How can I (or can I) suppress this so only the attachment is just that, an attachment, and not included in the body of the email?

Just a quick note on a couple of things. When I got a new 8110 with OS 4.3 and BES migrated over all my settings and data, I had the colored lines show up because they were set on my old 8100. However, when I went into the Security->General settings enterprise and other were set to "none". Very strange. So I set them to different colors and saved the settings. Then went back in and set them to "none", saved the settings, and they were gone.
Also, I have been using Empower Email viewer for a while and it let's you set the headercolor differently for each email account. It doesn't use those hideous stripes at all and I have the header colors set to be just subtly different between each email account. The background color is the same for all messages and I have it set to a soft complimentary color. All very nice on the eyes. I have the Empower Pro version, which isn't very cheap, but I love being able to add a task or appointment from an email and it also cleans up long URL's, so the colors were a nice added touch to all that.

    What and how an email is seen on the other person's machine is dependent on their settings and not what you do. You can, for instance, send a HTML email, but if they haven't set their machine to deal with those, it won't work. It's all down to them.

  • Inline HTML + Inline Text + attachment all 3 in 1 mail  in Outlook

    Hello All,
    I am trying to compose and send a mail using JavaMail library using which I can send a mail with
    1) HTML in the body of the mail
    and
    2) 4 -5 line of text (along with HTML , not as alternative text)
    and
    3) an attachment (which will also be an HTML file )
    Now here are the issues I am facing --
    --> When I try to view above composed mail in Outlook it shows either the text or HTML depending on whichever i add first to the MimeMultipart object using addBodyPart(). I wish to view both in Outlook.
    --> As I am attaching the same HTML file and displaying the same in body is there a way to do both using same file hence keeping the size of mail does not contain the size of HTML file only once , not twice .
    here is the code I am trying to use . Any kind of advice or corrections would be greatly appreciated.
    BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader(new FileReader("filename.html"));
            String tempStr;
            String finalStr="";
            while ((tempStr = in.readLine()) != null)
               finalStr= finalStr + tempStr+"\n" ;
            in.close();
            Multipart mp = new MimeMultipart();
            MimeBodyPart mbp1 =  new MimeBodyPart();
            mbp1.setContent(finalStr, "text/html");
            mbp1.setDisposition(Part.INLINE);
            mp.addBodyPart(mbp1);
            MimeBodyPart mbp2 =  new MimeBodyPart();
            mbp2.setContent("\n\nPlease open attachment if html not viewable in body\n\n","text/plain");
            mbp2.setDisposition(Part.INLINE);
            mp.addBodyPart(mbp2);
            String       attachfilename = "filename.html";
            MimeBodyPart mbp3           = new MimeBodyPart();
            DataSource   fds            = new FileDataSource(attachfilename);
            mbp3.setDataHandler(new DataHandler(fds));
            mbp3.setFileName(attachfilename);
            mbp3.setHeader("Content-Type" , "text/plain");
            mp.addBodyPart(mbp3);
            message.setContent(mp);Thanks

    Hello bshannon
    As you said that "Different mailers will display the same content in different ways." i was wondering if any of the outlook will be able to display more than one mimebodypart(s) if a mail is sent using javamail or is Outlook suposed to show just one body part
    I read this text on wikipedia for Outlook [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Outlook_Express]
    "Handling of PGP/MIME signed messages
    Outlook Express does not correctly handle MIME,[4] and will not display the body of signed messages inline. Users get a blank e-mail and two attachments (one of the message text and one of the signature) and therefore need to open an attachment to see the e-mail. If the email has been forwarded several times, users need to open attached email messages one inside the other multiple times till they reach the parent e-mail message. This bug has still not been rectified."
    So does the above bug applies to the mails sent by JavaMail ?
    Thanks

  • Problems sending an email with a field attached.

    Hi everyone,
    I’m having problems with sending an e-mail (with a field attached) to an external e-mail address.
    I’m using the followings functions:
    <b>'SO_DOCUMENT_INSERT'
    'SO_OBJECT_UPLOAD'
    'SO_ATTACHMENT_INSERT'
    'SO_OBJECT_SEND'</b>
    Everything goes well (the functions are executed well), but the message stacks and it isn’t be sent.
    I can see it with the transaction SBWP, it is in the folder Exit/Documents with status: “Waiting communication service” .
    Then I can send it from there clicking at the button send. And then it is sent.
    Have anyone any clue about what I’ve missed to do.
    I really appreciate your help; I need to solve this problem as soon as possible.

    Hi Guru's,

    how to poulate the body of the mail
    Best regards,
    Chetan.

    Hello all,
    I recently did an object which sends an email with the body.
    Step 1.
    Do not send the email directly by SAP functionality using smartform function module.
    Set the parameter control_parameters-getotf    = 'X' of the smartform function module.
    step 2.
    Use function module CONVERT_OTF
      CALL FUNCTION 'CONVERT_OTF'
        EXPORTING
          format                      = 'PDF'
        IMPORTING
          bin_filesize                = lf_bin_filesize
         BIN_FILE                    =
        TABLES
          otf                         = gs_job_output_info-otfdata
          lines                       = gt_lines
        EXCEPTIONS
          err_max_linewidth           = 1
          err_format                  = 2
          err_conv_not_possible       = 3
          err_bad_otf                 = 4
          OTHERS                      = 5.
    Step 3
    Use function module QCE1_CONVERT
      CALL FUNCTION 'QCE1_CONVERT'
        TABLES
          t_source_tab = gt_lines
          t_target_tab = outbin.
    Step 3.
    Fill up the details for Email Body + Attachment for the function module SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1
    internal table objtxt will have body of email (txt format)
      DESCRIBE TABLE objtxt LINES tab_lines.
      READ TABLE objtxt INDEX tab_lines.
      docdata-doc_size = ( tab_lines - 1 ) * 255 + STRLEN( objtxt ).
      CLEAR objpack-transf_bin.
      objpack-head_start = 1.
      objpack-head_num = 0.
      objpack-body_start = 1.
      objpack-body_num = tab_lines.
      objpack-doc_type = 'HTM'.
    APPEND objpack.
    Packing Info Attachment
      att_type = 'PDF'
      DESCRIBE TABLE objbin LINES tab_lines.
      READ TABLE outbin INDEX tab_lines.
      objpack-doc_size = ( tab_lines - 1 ) * 255 + STRLEN( objbin ).
      objpack-transf_bin = 'X'.
      objpack-head_start = 1.
      objpack-head_num = 0.
      objpack-body_start = 1.
      objpack-body_num = tab_lines.
      objpack-doc_type = att_type.
      objpack-obj_name = 'ATTACHMENT'.
      objpack-obj_descr = 'description'.
      APPEND objpack.
      docdata-obj_name  = name.
      docdata-obj_descr = description.
    step 4 :- use function module 'SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1'
    CALL FUNCTION 'SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1'
        EXPORTING
          document_data = docdata
          put_in_outbox = 'X'
        TABLES
          packing_list = objpack
          object_header = objhead
          contents_bin = objbin
          contents_txt = objtxt
          receivers = reclist

  • Mail does not print attachment name & prints small

    When printing an email, if it has an attachment, it does not print the attachment name.  It prints the icon of the attachment (excel, word, psd, etc.) but it doesn't print the name of the file under it.  This started happening since upgrading to Mavericks.
    Also, emails are printing much smaller.  Is there a way to enlarge the font when printing?

    The same here and quite a lot of other Mail bugs - and all since the new MacPro and Mavericks, no such problems with Mavericks on the MacBookPro 2011 though
    Sometimes the file names are printed, sometimes not and there is no way to find out why - it happens on and off with own mails to be sent and mails received.
    Workaround for own mails is put each file underneath the other with some distance from the last word. Workaround in case of customer mails received go to reply, edit signature on top, reduce to one page and hope .... sometimes it works.
    Also: on and off, Preview will show and printer will print only header on the first page, then body text on the second - only workaround to date (and believe me, I've tried everything) is use Reply, eliminate your own signature and reduce the printed area to less than a page
    Also: long mails with back-and-forth messages may print a line half on one page and lower half on second one .... no workaround here.
    Seems Mail is going to A4 US instead of A4 small (Europe), though this is not what the printer and the system or Word etc. are set to.
    And a sneaking suspicion, that it works ok with people sending me mails from a Mac, but not from a Windows box ... can't bother all my customers though and ask
    So please Apple - lots of people have the same problems - will you finally do something about it ... and yes I used the Feedback function

  • When attaching a photo in iCloud mail on my Mac, how do I select a smaller sized picture to avoid sending the super-sized variety?

    When attaching a photo in iCloud mail on my Mac, how do I select a smaller sized picture to avoid sending the super-sized variety?

    When you select the share to mail option in iPhoto, you are given the option to resize the photo.

  • When i send a PDF via e-print, it gets cropped, is there a way to prevent this from happening?

    PDF's are printing fine when i print direct to the printer but when they are sent by e-mail they get cropped, is there a way to get the document to fit to page when sent as an email attachment?
    The Printer in question is a HP LaserJet Enterprise 500 color M551n, the printer is brand new installed last week so i don't know if this is the norm or not.
    Edit: Please can someone please explain how to correct this.

    If you're using a desktop or notebook PC to send the email you could try installing the HP ePrint Mobile Driver software on your machine, the link to the download is here. This will allow you to print the PDF to any ePrint capable printer without having to email it to the printers email address as an attachment.
    Once installed and with your PDF open on your machine, select Print from the File menu, then select "ePrint" from the list of available printers (don't select the actual printer itself) and click Print in the bottom right corner of the box. A dialogue box will open showing the avaialble ePrint printers you can print to. Click on the Connected button on the left of the screen to add your printer to the list if its not listed.
    Hope this helps.

  • Ios8 ipad mail will not print pdf it has opened automatically

    Receiving pdfs sent as attachments to email.  The ipad opens them and puts them on the page.  But when I try to print the header and message prints but not the pdf.
    If I go to the same email on the iphone ,also with ios 8, the file is an unopened attachment which prints easily.
    To print directly from the ipad would please my partner immensely and perhaps save our marriage . . .
    cheers

    Hello krnkln3.
    Are you trying to send the PDF as an attachment in an e-mail sent to the ePrint e-mail address of the printer or are you trying to print using the ePrint app?
    Try sending the same PDF document to the printer's ePrint e-mail address and let us know if that works. If this works but using the ePrint app is not working, maybe the ePrint app is not working fine with this PDF document (it could be due to it's size or something else). Remember that you can always use the e-mail ePrint address of the printer to send PDF documents as the processing is happening at the HP servers and not in your iPad as when you try to send it using the ePrint app.
    Cheers!

  • Why does FireFox truncate part of an E-mail of more than one page when I try to print it out? How can I sent an E-mail blaet to several but only show one name o

    When I try to print out an E-mail that is longer than one page, part of the 2nd page is truncated. I then have to go to Safari to print out the entire E-mail without part of it being truncated.
    When I have multiple E-mail addresses on a single E-mail, how can I send the E-mail so that each recipient only sees his/her name and E-mail address rather than everyone else that the E-mail is addressed to?
    Please advise.
    Thank you.
    Bill Leete

    Some style rules that Firefox handles well on the screen can cause this problem. Many email sites have a print button which simplifies the message format and removes navigation elements, etc., and Firefox generally handles print-formatted pages better. If your email site doesn't have print-formatted pages or those do not print, a "hack" is to select the text you want to print and then choose the Selection option in the print dialog.
    To hide email addresses from recipients, you need to place them in the BCC field. What do you put in the TO field in that case? You can use your own address.

  • Avoid Printer selection Dialogue box when printing Crystal report in JAVA

    Hi i am calling crystal report in my servlet using Report Client Document SDK, now i want to print the report directly to the default printer set without selecting the printer from the select printer dialogue box. In other words want to avoid the select printer dialogue box from appearing . Can any body suggest me how do i do this .
    Any suggestions appreciated.

    In javascripting the code is
    function Print()
    if (document.all)
    WebBrowser1.ExecWB(6, -1) //use 6, 1 to prompt the print dialog or 6, 6 to omit it;
    WebBrowser1.outerHTML = "";
    <object ID="WebBrowser1" WIDTH="0" HEIGHT="0"
    CLASSID="CLSID:8856F961-340A-11D0-A96B-00C04FD705A2">
    But the above code does not work in windows XP SP2.... and i cannot restrict my clients OS.
    where as C#,ASP.NET  provides the functionality to print directly to printer as
    The ReportDocument class provides PrintToPrinter method that may be used to print a CR direct to the printer. If no printer is selected, the default printer will be used to send the printing pages to.
    The PrintToPrinter method takes four parameters.
    nCopies : Indicates the number of copies to print.
    collated : Indicates whether to collate the pages.
    startPageN : Indicates the first page to print.
    endPageN : Indicates the last page to print.
    The following steps will guide you to achieve the same:
    Add crystal report (.cr) file to your ASP.NET application.
    Add a report instance on the page level.
    Dim report As MyReport = New MyReport
    Populate reports data on Page_Init
      ' Get data in a DataSet or DataTable
            Dim ds As DataSet = GetData()
            ' Fill report with the data
         report.SetDataSource(ds)
    Print Report
    report.PrintToPrinter(1, False, 0, 0)
    If you wish to print certain page range, change last two parameters From to To page number.
    If you want to set page margins, you need to create a PageMargin object and set PrintOptions of the ReportDocument.
    The following code sets page margins and printer name:
    Dim margins As PageMargins =  Report.PrintOptions.PageMargins
       margins.bottomMargin = 200
       margins.leftMargin = 200
       margins.rightMargin = 50
       margins.topMargin = 100
       Report.PrintOptions.ApplyPageMargins(margins)
       ' Select the printer name
       Report.PrintOptions.PrinterName = printerName
    Thn Why not a java SDK for Crystal report can provide such a functionality...

  • Mail merge and print one document at a time?

    Hi all. I'm an Apple revert. I'm currently using the i7 iMac. Previous Apple computer was a //e.
    I print an 8 or 12 page newsletter for my work. I want my printer/copier to fold and staple each document individually. Pages seems to send all documents to the printer in one huge file. How do I mail merge and print one document at a time?
    [In Windows Publisher, there's a registry hack to make Pub print one at a time. Anything similar on a Mac?]

  • Is there a way to print an e-mail without also printing a long list of addresses?

    I am a recipient of some newsletters whose authors include recipient e-mail addresses in the To and CC fields. Occasionally I want to forward the newsletter to friends who are not on-line. (Yes, there are still some around.) I do this by printing the newsletter and forwarding it via snail mail. I could reduce the number of pages if I could avoid printing the address list.
    I have not found any discussion of this topic in Thunderbird help or Mozilla support.

    Unfortunately, there is no built-in way to easily modify the Subject/From/Date/To section of the print layout.
    Thunderbird can be customized with style rules, but since you only want to omit the To on a case by case basis, that would not be a convenient approach. (Unless one of the rules could limit To to no more than one line. Maybe that would be a reasonable workaround?)
    You could check for an add-on.
