Sending Publisher Connection Key gives Admin Rights in Contribute CS4

I manage numerous remote sites around the country remotely using Contribute CS4. Each site uses a common template with different header images and left navigation.
All of these sites function beautifully except one. On this particular site, sending a publisher connection key allows the user to connect to and edit pages on the site. However, the connection shows my (admin) email address, gives the user admin rights, and then puts a lock (.lck) file on almost all of the files, including the .CSS file. It also gives odd messages about workflow errors.
From my end on the Contribute Administer Websites panel, the user shows up as publisher, but on their end, they have admin rights and my email address displays on their connection
I tried deleting all of the files in the _mm and _notes folders and starting over, but this did not fix the problems.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Did you try re-creating Publisher keys for them, and sending it to your client? Also, with the existing key which your client has, what is the Role information for that connection key? This can be checked in the My Connections dialog.
Where is your e-mail address being shown? If it is in the My Connections dialog along with the connection name, then that is because the administrator's e-mail address is shown there.
Hope this helps.

  • Sending a connection key from a Mac to a PC

It is very easy to send a connection key, but when I send one to PC from a MAC, I get this error "This connection key is only compatible with the Macintosh version of Contribute.".
Does anyone have suggestions on why this happening?

The network path is the location of the website in your organization’s local network. The network path includes the name of the server on which the website is stored and the directory path of the website’s files on that server.
For example, your network path might be \\mycomputer\wwwroot\ (Windows) or afp://server:volume: (Mac OS).
Note: If you are a Mac user, to create a LAN connection, make sure to mount the network volume of the server you are creating a connection to on your computer desktop before you create your connection. In the Finder, select Go > Connect to Server to mount the network to which you want to connect.
    Hope this answers.

  • Weblogic user lost its Admin rights in Content Server

    Hello,
I happened to change auth type for weblogic to Local. After logging in as weblogic, I couldnt see the Administration tab. This was the only user with admin privileges.
I tried logging in as sysadmin/idc, but i could not. Logging in as sysadmin/idc was working in 10g but in 11g it does not work.
Is there a way to get back the admin privileges foe weblogic user?. Please help as I cannot work without the Admin Utilities.
    Regards,
    Richa

    Hi Richa ,
I did not update the sysadmin password.
    update users set dpasswordencoding='' where dname like 'sysadmin';
    update users set dpassword='idc' where dname like 'sysadmin';
    Open SystemProperties.
    Go to the “Database” tab.
    Select Oracle Thin JDBC Driver.
    JDBC Connection String = jdbc:oracle:thin:@hostname:1521:orcl
JDBC User Name = dev_urmserver (ucm schema user)
    JDBC User Password = <pwd set>
This will let you access the standalone applets from /bin directory .
login with sysadmin/idc after launching user admin applet and then change the auth type for weblogic user to External from Local .
I did not update the weblogic password but did change its type from External to Local in Content Server.
    Same as point above .
Unfortunately, I did not give admin rights to any of the accounts and so I cannot access the User Admin Applet.
Test after step 1 is completed .
I have installed UCM in my laptop running win7. Surprisingly, i cannot see Oracle Content Server in my start->All programs menu.
There will be no Content Server munu with UCM 11g . It will be the managed server under Weblogic that will be needed to start UCM.
    Hope this helps .
    Thanks

  • I am Facing problem with "Send to connection" in SharePoint Server 2010.

    Hi all,
I am working on SharePoint Server 2010
I have a site collection and sub sites in it.
I want to move the document form one site library to another site library.
Since it can be done by configuring, Send to connection in Central Admin.
I activated Content Organizer rules in both the sites.
I added new connection for one site and append the url
    /_vti_bin/officialfile.asmx
I tested the url on clicking
Click here to test link it gives me message that
"URl is a Valid routing Destination".
and finally I added the connection
After configuring this I open the other site and uploaded a document in it and after uploading the document I selected send to
option and clicked on my connection what I created in central admin.
But it gives me error: The site could not be found or accessed
     Please help me for this...
    Thanks in advance..

    Hi,
In my case, I'm routing an InfoPath form (After having approved) to an archived Forms Library within the same sub-site.
I created Send To connection, setup Content Organizer rules, setup Record Retention policy on the source Forms Library, but even after running both the Timer jobs (Information management policy and Expiration policy), the document didn't get moved to the
    archived library.
I checked under Compliance details of the form that the Scheduled occurrence date shows 'Completed' i.e. the Information management policy timer job did its task, but the other Timer job didn't move this form.
Then I tried sending this form manually using Send To. In that case, although the form got moved to the archived library, but I see 'Unexpected error' on the screen.
    The ULS shows following entries:

  • Connection key in cs5, working for some users but not others.

I've created a publisher connection key and have sent to 3 people to use.  I can open and connect the other 2 people can't.
    Any ideas why not?
    Thanks.....mommadell

    Please let me know
    1) Contribute version used by other two users.
    2) OS platform.
    3) What is the error message thrown while connecting. If the error thrown is about the version used, please refer to http://blogs.adobe.com/contribute/2009/09/compatibilty_transition_mode.html.

  • Connection key problem

I can connect to my website if I manually set up the
connection in Contribute. When I send a connection key we get an
error message that the username and password cannot be verified. I
have tried sending the key with the username and password included
in the key, also set it up so users have to enter the username and
    password themselves. Nothing works.
We set up a separate ftp account on our website that only
allows access to a specific folder.
We recently moved our website to a new hosting company
Network Solutions. We did not have any problems with Contribute
connection keys on our previous host. Any possible solutions would
    be appreciated.

For windows users can you create a connection key in Windows machine and send the same.

  • Connection keys for 2.0 users

I currently administer employees having Contribute 2, 3 and
CS3. New Contribute users get CS3 but old users are still on 2 and
    3. I also train users so I have all 3 versions on my PC. Since
installing CS3 I can no longer send connection keys to version 2
users who have had it reinstalled due to getting a new PC or having
an old PC re-imaged. When I try to use Contribute 2 to send a
connection key I am told that it is being administered by a newer
version of Contribute yet sending a connection key from a newer
version results in the users getting a message that the connection
key file is corrupt. How do I send connection keys to my version 2
    users?

I tried again this morning by entering the following:
    Identify Administrator:
    First Name: Edwin
    Last Name: McGee
    e-mail: [email protected]
    Next -->
    Name Workspace:
    Workspace: GUESTROOM
    Next -->
    Select Database Schema:
    Request a new schema
    Next -->
    New schema to create: PDAM
    Initial space allocation: 10MB
    Next -->
    Justify request:
Development and Testing via OTN APEX Forum.
    Next -->
Enter Verification code: blah-blah-blah-blah not really, but it doesn't matter what I enter here because it is different each time)
    Submit request -->
    Resulting page:
ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into ("FLOWS_030000"."WWV_FLOW_PROVISION_COMPANY"."COMPANY_NAME")
    Error requesting Workspace: .
    Return to application.
It is interesting to note that the page where I enter the verification code does not show any of the data I entered previously (e.g. First Name, Last Name, etc.).
I am running Windows 2000 Professional with administrative privileges and MS IE 6.0.2800.1106 128-bit cipher SP1. I also have Java Plug-in 1.6.0_01and I am using JRE version 1.6.0_01 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM. I suspect that this is probably a local issue, but did not encounter this problem when I initially configured my first workspace. Thanks.

  • First time client opens java needs admin rights to download, any way to push java runtime from ARD and open so they don't have to have admin credentials?

    Hey guys,
I am the IT admin for Macs in our company. When we put a brand new image on a client machine, it works perfectly. I can install and run packages using ARD. For Java however, when a client opens something required by java it says it needs to download the java runtime etc etc... It requires admin rights to download and install. My Users do not have admin privileges to install things.
Does Apple have the packages they install the javaruntime with on the internet to download as a .pkg or something similar? I was not able to find one that I could use and push through Apple Remote Desktop. Any suggestions?
Basically I need a way to have javaruntime on a machine without me needing to log into each computer individually to download it or needing to give admin rights to the users.
    Thanks!

Nevermind; I found a standalone installed located at:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1421
I install this through ARD before running any update features or anything so the end-user will not have to type in admin credentials since I can do this from my side of things now.

  • Sending a document from a 2010 site to a 2013 site using send to connection

Here's my issue: I work for a large organisation with lots of different teams. Each time is live with a SharePoint 2010 team site, where they keep all of their working documents.
Now, we want to set up records sites for the teams and, as we have it available, we were considering using 2013 to create the records sites. So I have farm (a): 2010 team sites and farm (b): 2013 records centres.
I set up a send to connection from central admin in farm (a) to send records to farm (b). When I tested the link I got the "verification successful". But, when I went into my site on farm (a), uploaded a document, clicked send to then farm
    (b) and I got this error:
Out of interest, I tried doing the same with two 2010 farms and I was successfully able to send a document from farm (a) to farm (b) when both farms were 2010 farms.
So am I to conclude that it's not possible to send a document from a 2010 site to a 2013 site?

I have tried that in past and it did not work for me. Our users use old 2010 record center but we migrated the site and wanted all the document to route to 2013. we couldnt remove 2010 record center till we migrate all sites.
Let me know if you have any workflow or solution to this issue.

  • When people activate connection keys, they don't show up in the Admin users list. Why?

I send people their key by e-mail. In most cases, when they click on it and it loads Contribute and they plug in the password, it will show up in the Admin listing of users. Other times, the same process is followed but they don't show up on any user list.  What can I do to get them listed?

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Using Send Unix to remove admin rights

If we want to remove a user's admin rights, is there a quick and dirty way to do this using the Send Unix Command to a Leopard client?

    Try the following:
dscl localonly -delete /Local/Target/Groups/admin users theaccount
where theaccount is the account's short name. This command needs to run as root, and is designed for Mac OS X 10.5.

  • Open Registry Key VI. Error -604. But just under Run Time Engine (RTE) when no admin rights

    Hi,
When I run my code under RTE I'm getting -604 error saying remote access to registry denied.
To make it work I have to grant admin rights to the user, and then I can run my code under RTE.
The problem doesn't exist under Development Environment. The user can have no admin rights to be able access the registry.
    OS: Win7 x32
    Any suggestions?

Well in the RTE it's an executable so I expect UAC has a look at what the exe tries to do. Also...are you running the development environment on an account with administrator privileges / UAC turned off? (I do development on a PC with local admin rights....and/or when LV installs it requests to always run with elevated privleges).
I think there is a way to get an application to declare it needs elevated privileges at install/run-time somehow but I never really figured out how to do this.
(Because to install the software you need admin rights so while installing it can do other things...which is why you can set registry keys in your installer)

  • Using old connection keys with CS4

I work for a web development company. Some of our clients use
Contribute for content management. In the office, we use Contribute
CS3 to create keys to send to the users. We had a user report that
no connection was created when they used a key we made in CS3. The
user just got Contribute, so I assume she purchased CS4. I looked
online and sent a support request to Adobe, but wondered if any of
you fine people have seen or heard anything like this. We don't
have CS4 yet, so I can't test this in house. I could download the
demo, but that's more work than I want to do, lol!
    Thanks!

Unless the users can publish by themselves, you will have
issues when CS4 users submit drafts to CS3 admins.
    Better upgrade soon.

  • Admin Rights for Adobe AIR apps

Which Admin rights are needed on a system to install a .AIR file on a system? In our Enterprise scenario users do not have Admin rights on the system. And whenever user tries installing an AIR app an error is thrown for the same. I want to know what are the least (Admin) rights that we need to give to a user on a WindowsXP system so that he can install air apps?

    Hello,
Unfortunately, there isn't a simple answer to this question because AIR isn't in complete comtrol over the full set of files and registry keys touched during an install - we rely on Windows Installer for that.  However you can find additional information about this at:
Does Installing an AIR Application Require Admin Rights?
    What are Administrative Rights, Anyway?
You might also want to vote for this idea: Installation of Adobe AIR apps without having administrative privileges
    Hope this helps,
