Sending queue says I'm sending more messages than I actually am...

When sending emails on Mac Mail, the queue notifcation is always higher than the actual number of emails sent. Why is that? What else is sending and where is it going?!?!? For example, I just sent one email to two different people.. but the queue notification said I sent 3 mails.
Very confusing, and I can find no evidence in the 'sent' folder of this phantom email.

This is happening for me as well. I'm very worried that I am sending some kind of ick through email that I can't prevent.

My actual music library on my phone is showing 100+ more songs than I actually have. But on my computer it's showing a completely different (less) number? Should I restore?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Ipad downloads more messages than what's in the "Show" tab

So, I have an iPhone 4 (iOS 4.1) and an iPad 2 (iOS 4.3.3). The iPhone works fine with the configuration of marking to show only the 50 recent messages, but the iPad does not. Even though it is marked to show only 50 messages, it keeps downloading everything, like 130 e-mails just today.
The funny thing is that my dad also has an iPad, but the iPad 1 (I guess with iOS 4.2), and it does the same thing as mine. It is marked to show only 50 messages, but it downloaded like 480 e-mails at once!!
It's not like we scrolled down to show more messages, the numbers I said were when we first opened the app and it checked the e-mails accounts.
    What can we do??

I thought of that too, but it was ripped from a (non-copy protected) DVD, and the title sequence is its own chapter. So of course, the little chunk I need to use is pretty much at the tail end... I don't have 10 seconds after it.
    Thanks for the suggestion, though!

I figured it out! Clicked on EDIT then clicked on "mark as unread," on the bottom of the page; then clicked "mark as read," and it was fixed.

  • LMS 3.2.1 sending more pings than thought usual

    Hi,
I'm looking for some assistance or tips with troubleshooting LMS 3.2.1 and the ping/ICMP traffic it transmits.
A lot of my devices are receiving a lot more pings from LMS than I would have anticipated.
I don't run PING sweeps in Device Discovery or CM-UT. I've even disabled DFM polling in a hope to trace the source of these PINGs.
Does anyone have a list of which modules use PINGs so I can turn them off and track down the offender.
I really only want to manage the known devices I already have via SNMP alone. I don't require LMS to be PINGing for discovery or reachability purposes.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Kind Regards
    David

    Hi Gaganjeet,
    Not quite correct.
DFM was still pinging after I disabled ALL polling parameters and saved/applied. I had not restarted the daemon. I didn't believe I had to.
After that I tried to delete all the devices from DFM (Auto-allocation was also disabled) but they would not delete.
(I have another LMS server where DFM will not learn devices from DCR and comes up with the 'TreeManager' error but all fixes in Forum failed. Could this be the same bug?)
After this I restarted daemon manager (LMS) and it stopped pinging.
Is this normal operation for DFM?
I'm interested in the script if you can send it to me. Basically my management loopbacks are in one or two subnets only and we have no desire for the user vlans to be pinged. Besides loopbacks will never go down unless the switch does.
Basically the distribution-switch cpu reaches 100% utilisation as all its SVIs are pinged simultaneously. Changing the time intervals extends the polling but this has the negating effect of delaying alerts and warnings, etc.
I'm trying to find the happy balance but DFM is not very flexible. It's all or nothing.
Many thanks for your help. Please let me know how I can get that script.

  • Mail.app says I have more messages than exist

I'm having an issue with Mail.app pointing to the gmail server using IMAP (default automatic setup)
Right now I have 3 messages in my inbox, all read. Mail.app's title says "Inbox (4 messages)" even though I have 3. It's off by 1 every now and then and I have to quit and restart to have it fix it - although this doesn't always solve the problem I don't think
Is this a known issue? How can I file a bug report?

    Hi,
From the Mac Mail Menu Bar click Mailbox/Rebuild. This can take a minute or two. Should help.
Not a bug, just servers trying to catch up.

  • Mail shows it is receiving more messages than actually appear

Mail shows that there more emails being downloaded than actually appear in my inbox. I have checked other folders (Spam, etc) to see where the extra messages disappear to.
Cannot see that there is a connection between incoming and received (i.e. cannot see that there are twice as many expected than actually appear, etc).
I have multiple accounts, so I cannot tell if it relates to a particular account.
    Thanks

Since we know it's not sending multiple emails, and this is a POP account you're having a problem with, we can try two things:
    1. Quit Mail.
    2. Go to Home/Library/Mail and delete the Envelope Index file, and the account mailbox folder for your IMAP account (it probably begins with "IMAP-") to the Trash. You don't need to empty the Trash yet, just move these items there.
    3. Restart Mail and let it reindex your mail, and then check to see if the problem goes away.

i'm using a 30GB iPod video, the latest version of iTunes, and windows XP.
i have reset and restored my ipod, reinstalled iTunes, restarted my computer, and even changed the USB port of the cable.
When i attempt to sync my now empty iPod, it tells me i'm trying to use about 33GBs of space when i only have about 27GBs available.
however, when i go to 'My Music', it tells me i only have 23GBs.
i only have 3 podcasts ready to sync and no video.
    any help? :\

hello. I just upgraded to iTunes 8.0 and am suddenly having the same problem. I also have a 30gb ipod video and am running windows XP.
I was able to sync no problem even earlier today -- only started getting the error once I installed 8.0.
Did you find a way to solve your problem?

  • Time Machine Backing up more data than I actually have

I have approximately 280 gigs of stuff on my hard drive. I have attempted to use TM to back up everything to a 1TB external hard drive multiple times.
I let it back up overnight. When I come to the office in the morning it will say something like: "725.6 G of 725.6 G backed up" then both numbers will continue to go up. So, I stop the backup.
I've combed through all of the support articles/posts here and on other sites. I've reformatted the drive several times, I've excluded pretty much everything including the external hard drive itself.
(Strangely enough, when I exclude the external hard drive, the exclude panel says that it has 630G worth of data on it. In the general TM preferences, it says it is empty. I've erased it several times. The finder shows the HD as empty... But, that may just be unrelated)
I don't have VM ware. I don't have any antivirus programs. The only thing that no one else seems to have mentioned on the forums is that my computer is networked.
In short, I have 300G worth of data that I need backed up. I have an empty 1TB drive. When I attempt to do so, it backs up 700+G before I stop it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What's shown for the "Estimated size of full backup" under the exclusions box in TM Preferences?
I've excluded pretty much everything including the external hard drive itself.
Your TM drive should be excluded automatically, and shown in gray, meaning you can't remove the exclusion. If it's not, do a "full reset" per #A4 in the Time Machine - Troubleshooting *User Tip,* also at the top of this forum.

Check it's setup, via #C1 in the Troubleshooting Tip. Also see if it has more than one partition (the indented line or lines under the main one for the drive in the Disk Utility sidebar). If it has more than one, should it? If so, be sure the other partition is excluded. If not, reformat it to a single partition per the instructions in #5 of the Frequently Asked Questions *User Tip,* also at the top of this forum.
The only thing that no one else seems to have mentioned on the forums is that my computer is networked.
That shouldn't be a problem, as Time Machine cannot back up a network drive.

  • When I select and overtype text, why does it overtype more text than I actually selected?

For example, let's say the existing text reads: "one two three four five six".
Let's say I select: "two three".
    And then I start typing.
I'll often find that what I'm typing is actually replacing: "two three four five".
Why is this? And how can I stop it?

It doesn't happen all the time, but I've noticed it often happens when editing a text field in an online form in Google Chrome. (I'm not running any wierd extensions; just the usual ones like add to Instapaper, etc etc.) I'm pretty sure I've seen this happen to me in Word too, but the latest instances were definetly in Chrome.
It wasn't an issue on my last Mac running Mac OS X 10.6.x. Just my new Air running Mac OS X 10.8.x.

  • ITunes shows that I have more music than I actually do

OK, so when I go to check out how many gigs of music I have on my Macbook through iTunes it says I have 834 songs or about 10 gigs of music, but when I click get info on iTunes in Finder it says that I have over 3,000 items that take up 20 gigs. Why does my music take up twice as much space as it should?

I've searched everywhere too for a solution and I finally caved in and restored my phone after backing up all of my photos to iPhoto. It's a pain, but it freed up about 6GB on my phone.

  • IPhoto library takes more space than the actual data that is in it.

Why is iPhoto Library taking almost 10 GB more than the real data i have in it ?

I have the original photos in a folder and it takes 10.7 GB of space in my hard drive, but when I get info from the iPhoto library its taking 17.9 GB of space
Do you have two copies of the photos on the HD? Why?
I have read that every single move I do in iPhoto it makes a copy of the file for backup no matter how big the photo is, even if you just rotate the picture,
When you edit a pic - including Rotation - iPhoto makes a copy of the Original and carries out the edit on that copy and saves it. However, if you then make another edit it does not make a second copy, it simply destroys the first copy and applies the total edits to a new copy. So there is never more than your Original and a single Modified version of your pics.
that’s just taking so much space I need is there any way to make iPhoto stop doing that?
No. If you don't want that, simply don't use iPhoto. IPhoto is a Digital Asset Manager and it coheres to the best practices of DAM by treating your original file like a film photographer protects his negative.
Also when look in the finder and search for every file I have used during the day, if I had just open iPhoto once it will apper a lot of this files called like Album.999001.ipmeta that are from iphot. If I haven used it just opened it why is it showing that ?
This is just the way that iPhoto works. These ipmeta files are tiny 4kb files. They take up the smallest amount of disk space possible.
