Sending/Receiving Picture Texts

Can someone please help? When I receive a picture text it says "get media content now" but when I tap on that it just dings and displays the same message. Also, I can't send out picture texts. It just says, "unable to send". I had this fixed once but had to do a reset and now I can't remember what I did to fix it.

Hello LauraMac! Thanks for bringing your concern to our community. Thanks as well to my friend Ann154 for assisting! Yes, it would appear that having the device set against mobile data is preventing picture messaging. Disable WiFi by going to Settings> WiFi. Make sure that WiFi is turned off before trying your picture message again.

New to the iphone but was always able to send a picture text message to anyone including my verizon friends with a LG phone worked great. However with the new iphone I try to send a text message with a picture and nobody receives it. Then I get a reply back that the attachment has been removed??? I don't want it as an attachment but a simple picture msg.

The easiest way is opening up a message to the desired person and hitting the camera icon to the left of the message bar, where you will be prompted to pick one from your camera roll or take a new one.
You can also choose a current picture from your roll and select "MMS" when pressing the new message icon (arrow and a rectangle) in the corner of the screen.
If neither of these ways are working, check settings > messages > and make sure "MMS Messaging" is enabled.
If you still receive this error double check your AT&T account to ensure that your plan allows for MMS messaging.

How come I have had two people send me picture texts and I have not received them? I have signed up and am paying for the multimedia services. Anyone else having this problem?

Yep, inform all of your contacts to email pics instead of texting them, hope they have email access on their phone to do so, re-train their way of thinking so they understand e-mail is the "way to go" according to apple and iphone users who have no choice, and also to remember to send you such messages via email, being everyone else can MMS directly. If they are sending pics to multiple people at once or flash clips, don't be offended that you are always left out. Flash isn't supported, and no one is going to send MMS to multiple people, then send your message separately to email.
Also, convince your contacts that opening your sent pics from email is worth the trouble. Never mind the whole point of MMS is to send/receive pics instantly.
Oh yeah, if all of these things do actually take place, don't be surprised if you never get a text from viewmymessage.com. It works about 25% of the time. If you are lucky enough to receive your SMS notification, be sure to have a pen and paper ready. You will have to write down the id and password, as it is almost impossible to remember once you log into your email, and there is no capability to link, or cut n paste.

Texting longer text messages or any media (pictures/video/sound etc) being sent requires data to be active. However, it does not count against your data caps.
Since you have an iPhone, you must also be aware of the difference between iMessage and SMS Text messages. The iPhone, by default, will send an iMessage when sending another text message to anyone else with an iPhone, iTouch, or iPad. This does use your data if you are not connected to wifi. In Settings, you can turn iMessage off, and then all of your texts will go through Verizon.
Also understand- iMessage will use wifi when connected to wifi, but would need cellular data connection to work when not connected to wifi. Regular SMS text messages that are long or any media will always use the cellular data and not wifi, so will not send if cellular data is turned off, even if on wifi. However, this does not count against your cap.

Can't receive picture texts from Verizon customers??

My sister, mother in law and a bunch of friends have Verizon. Whenever they send me picture texts I never receive the pictures. My husband also has the same iPhone and he doesn't receive them either. We have no problem getting pics from other AT&T users, Sprint, etc.
Does anyone know anything about this? I said it had something to do with the stupid 3G feud between AT&T and Verizon, but my husband said that was dumb. It's really annoying though! Thanks for any info.

Its not a feud - Verizon use CDMA and most of the rest of thr world uses 3G GSM, or in a different terminlogy, one is Betamax and one is VHS. they both work, but not with each other.
At the call level they will interwork but I suspect at the MMS level, they don't but I don't live in a CDMA area so don't suffer from that.

I Can't send/receive pictures from/to my iphone from other phones like Galaxy, but I can send and receive text messages. I appreciate if someone can help me.

Is MMS enabled in your mobile phone tariff (check with your network provider) and is your phone configured with the correct MMS settings for your tariff?

Problems with sending/receiving picture messages

Does anyone know how to sort problems with sending/receiving picture messages on the iphone 4S? I've gone through all the re-setting etc at the place I bought it and it still doesn't work!! Spoken to 02 and they said it's an issue with Apple software?? Any help appreciated.

Can you send/receive SMS's? If so, and you can't send/receive MMS's, and MMS is turned on in Settings, 99.9% of the time the problem is on your carrier's end...most likely MMS is not provisioned properly on your account, regardless of what your carrier is telling you. Call back & have them remove MMS from your account & then re-provision your account for MMS.

Can't group text or send/receive picture messages! Please Help!

so I just recently switched from my Iphone back to my blackberry for simplicity/practical reasons...I couldn't deal with the iphone anymore. In doing so, I came across a problem. I am not able to send group texts or send/receive mms. Everytime I try to do so, the text has a red 'X' next to it showing that it didn't go through. I am currently with ATT and have tried calling them to resolve it but no one knows.
here are some of the steps I took to resolve it
1. Resetted to Factory Settings - Did not work
2. Made sure all the settings in my text message options is selected properly - Did not work
3. Deactivated iCloud/iMessage on my previous iPhone - Did not work
4. Called ATT and had them make sure BB Data plan was on my plan, and it was - Did not work
Can someone please help?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
With a strong carrier network signal (e.g., not merely WiFi), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
2) Resend Service Books
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
3) Reboot
With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should re-contact your mobile service provider for formal support...be sure to request their dedicated BB support group. MMS is a specific service level that must be properly enabled on BBs in order to function. Often, the first support group you reach will not understand the proper method for configuring this on BB...but their dedicated BB support group will.

Hi, I have an iphone 4s with ios 7. I can send and receive picture messages from everyone except for one person. He also has an iphone 4s but for some reason when I try to send him a pic it says not delivered. I try several more times but with the same result. I also don't receive any that he sends to me. I really need your

Hi and thank you for responding. He does have an account (sprint) that includes MMS. I did one time receive one picture from him and that was it. I have not been able to get any pictures to go through. Although I am able to send pictures to every one else and receive. Could there by some setting on my end that isn't right? I am fairly new to the iphone. Thank you again

Notify your carrier. Make sure MMS is provisioned for your account. Also be sure it's enabled in your setting menu

Why am I receiving picture texts as text messages and not iMessages?

Why I am receiving pictures sent to my messages as texts but not an imessage? I know the person who's sending it also has an iPhone 4s, but everytime she sends me a picture I need to wait till I enable 3g before i receive it. I have wi-fi all day at work but I disable 3g cause sprints 3g network is useless at my work. No point keeping it on, but when she attempts to send me a picture from her iPhone I receive after I leave work and turn on 3g. Does any one have an idea what exactly may be going on? Shouldn't I receive the picture text as an iMessage since I have wi-fi on all day...? Thanks everyone

Why can i not receive picture texts from my contacts

Ever since my phone upgraded to the new system, I cannot receive any picture texts from my friends. my text messages indicate I have a new message (friends name and no subject) and when I click on it, it brings up a new text message for me to send. I know they are pictures because I ask my friends if they had sent me something. I use this feature a lot and it gets annoying to have my friends email it to me instead of texting it, not all my friends have smart phones and cannot email me the pictures all the time. Can someone please help?

Is your mobile data turned on? And if you long press on the picture in the text can you save attachment? If you can do that try viewing them in your gallery.

Freezes sending / receiving pictures, and occasionally just because

Hi all (who read this).
I have iChat 4.0.3 with Chax 2.1.2 (it does come highly recommended.) About a week ago, whenever I started sending or receiving pictures, iChat would freeze (for about 30 seconds to a minute) before i could start typing again. I know that the people I am sending the pics to receive them, but they don't appear in the chat (the ones sent or received) on my end. While I can't actually visibly do anything with iChat during the freeze, if i do type and press return like normal, it will send the messages after the freeze, but it doesn't show that I am typing as I do. I can't switch windows or to other chats either. I doubt that this has to do with Chax as it ran successfully for a while without this problem. I've tested a few port changes, (443, and others that have previously worked) to no avail. And sometimes it just randomly freezes.

Yes, it this only occurs if I drop the file directly into the text window and send it that way. The entire app, including the video, freezes. Some of my buddies icons are animated, but not the ones to which I am sending the files (though, it has worked before with them). No status changes more freq. than 1 min. I usually have Mail and Safari open, but not necessarily doing anything intensively. Our connection is running at a normal clip (1.2 mbps) on broadband. The pictures are sending slower than they used to be even if I was active online (such as downloading movies on itunes), and iChat would still function normally while it was sending.

IPhone 5 locks up when sending a picture text

My iphone 5 locks up when trying to send a picture from the actual picture, right after taking it. It is fine if you start a text then attach a picture. Any ideas?

Perform a "hard reset" on the device by pressing down and holding the home button and the sleep/wake button for up to 30secs. until you see a black screen with the Apple logo, then release.
Then test to see if it solved the problem.

HT4528 I can't receive picture text from a Verizon Blackberry to my Verizon iPhone5

My friend and I both have Verizon as a carrier. She has tried to send me numerous picture texts and can't. However, she can send pictures to everyone else with no issues. I can also get pictures from others with no issues. It seems really odd. I can send her pictures with no issues. We both rebooted and are using the most up-to-date versions of the software. She deleted my contact info and re-entered me and still having the issue. She gets an error everytime she tries to send the text. Any ideas or suggestions?

If she gets an error when she tries to send you a picture, the she nees to contact Verizon and/or blackberry to troubleshoot it. The problem can not be your phone since it's never even leaving hers to begin with.
