I just got a hp laptop and hp deskjet3050-A all-in-one. I am having a hard time sending a fax. I have everything scanned and it's ready to go, I just can't send it! I don't know how to find my printer's email address or anything and don't seem to be close to figuring it out! Help!

What printer? Does it have a phone line connection? Is your phone line connected?
Fax is transmitted over phone lines, it is not (traditionally) email.

I only use Image Capture, so I can't speak for other software.

If you are using the minimal details screen, you should have the same submenu to the left of the page size.

Error message when trying to scan to email or fax

when I try to scan to email or fax i get this message:
"secure connection to SMTP server could not be established..."
I didn't have this problem when I first got the laserjet pro 200 m276.
any thoughts on how to remedy>

I see by your post that you are getting the error "secure connection to SMTP server could not be established" when trying to scan to email or fax. I can help you with this.
I have provided a document to check your scan settings. You might have to run the wizard again.
How to Scan: From the Control Panel (Including Scan to Email, to a PDF, and to a Network Folder).
Click on Scan to email.
This document is for Cannot Send or Receive Faxes to go through to resolve the fax issue.
What email provider and email program are you using?

Recently purchased a scanner which I connect my iPad to. everything scanned goes into iPhoto. I purchased FileApp Pro to place scanned items into files. I still can't move the scanned items to a file. Help!

Is this a NAS type of setup (of which I know very little)? Mine is not a response based upon strong technical knowledge but iTunes seems to have problems with those. Just about everybody has issues with iTunes but you say it is not fit for the purpose. What is that? I bet for 99% of people it does. Not everybody has 8TB collections they are trying to use with a RAID structured external server. iTunes is really a mass consumer piece of software. Yes, many people have expanded beyond internal drives, but NAS arrangements seem to add levels of complexity beyond a direct external drive that is Mac formatted and at most served by an Apple brand wireless router which I suspect is probably how everything is tested. Anything more is fortuitous in terms of support. Except that you say the library files are on the external drive too it sounds to me like the server is asleep when you say it cannot find files and then suddenly can when you go to find one.

IDOC type to send OPEN ITEMS per INVOICE to external system?

Dear EDI Experts,
we want to send OPEN ITEMS of a customer per document via EDI to an XML file.
We checked on idoc type CRESTA01 but this idoc type provides "only" the total OPEN ITEMS of a customer but NOT e.g the invoice document numbers.
Is there any way to generate an IDOC or XML file with the invoice numbers and its OPEN ITEM amounts?
We want to transfer that data to an HH device in order to show customer which invoices yet to be paid.
Any idea?

many thanks for the quick answer to my question.
We want ONE credit idoc per one customer showing all OPEN ITEMS with the document number.
That info is sent to the Handheld in order to provide customer exact info which invoice he has not paid yet.
We do not need ONE idoc per ONE document.
But it seems no standard idoc provides such info and we have to call a FM to provide that info to a Z-Segement of CRESTA01. Is that correct?
Port definition XML in we21 for idoc type is understood.

Outlook 2010 using Exchange 2010 - cannot send this item after updating draft email

I have a client who has the following setup.
SBS 2011 server (Exchange 2010) and a Windows 2008 R2 Terminal Server (with Office 2010 SP1 installed).
This particular user has a Windows XP PC with Office 2010 SP1 installed (joined to SBS 2011 domain).
This user creates a email at their office on their PC and saves it in draft to continue working on it when they get home.
At home they RDP into the terminal server and load outlook and start updating their saved (Draft) email. They then try to send it and the following error pops up. "Cannot send this item".
If they try to save the changes they have made it pops up with "The operation failed".
I have tried various settings all with the same results.
Office 2010, Office 2010 SP1, Online mode and Cache mode (on the Windows XP PC).
Any ideas?

OK. After further testing I have narrowed it down to the email signature?
If I save a draft email in Outlook on the Fat client (Windows XP + Office 2010), then go straight into Drafts folder and open the email and add one line of text and try to send or save again it fails.
If I don't have a signature, it works fine.
I currently trying to determine what part of the signature it doesn't like (it is quite a large signature, multiple images and a disclaimer etc). I'm having mixed results - I can remove the signature totally from the draft email and then it will save
or send fine.
Strange that it can save the email to Draft in the 1st place but doesn't like updating it a 2nd time???
I have also created a new outlook profile (online mode) with the same results.

Columns are not being recognized when I print a scanned item

I am scanning to an editable document. The document I am scanning has columns but when I print the columns are gone and everything is put in a list. How do I correct this?

Hi pattyc2738. Scanning items to 'editable text' (also called OCR) can be difficult. Depending on what software you are using, most programs to get the image from the scanning glass only recognize the words, and not the formatting. Columns would be a special formatting feature that most entry level OCR software will not work well with.

If you still have the .doc files, it might be best to send those to your recipients so they can be edited. Otherwise, you can use ExportPDF to convert the PDF files back to .doc format. But, again, that step would be unnecessary if you have the .doc files.

Need to send work item to mutiple users at top level in PR release strategy

We are using workflow WS20000077 for PR release strategy.
Now the requirement is, at higer level, say at Board of director level, the work item should go to mutiple users and any one can approve/reject the work item. In other words, upto the board of director level , the workflowwill send work item to respective users as defined in release strategy, only at the Board of director level it should send work item to multiple users.
So how to send work item to mutiple users at a particular level in release strategy.

Your requirement can be achieved if you use Organisation Plan for agent assignment.
In the plan, you create position for each stage and assign the position ID in the worklfow section of the PR release strategy against the release code in MM.
The work item will goto all the users assigned to that position. this way is very flexible too for future agent change. only change the user assignment to the position.

Normally scanners need a SMTP server to relay the mail to. Is all that setup on the printer?
