Sending to Groups with IMAP client

I have a user that is wondering if there is a way to send to a GroupWise group from his phone using the IMAP client. An example would be a Group we have named "All" that includes all company employees. He wants to send to [email protected] I don't think this is possible unless you are connecting with Web Access client, but it doesn't hurt to ask....
Thanks for any ideas.

Just to count beans, IMPA isn't relevant here, as IMAP is strictly for
receiving mails only. Sending is SMTP, just like any other sent email to
your server. SO yes, groupwise *can* accept mail to groups, if it's
configured to do so (expand groups on incoming messages in the GWIA).
But of course, that makes those addressable by anybody, not limited to
"your" phones or clients.

  • No Attachments with IMAP Client

We are having an intermittent issue where we cannot see attachments using an IMAP client. I thought this might've been a NotifyLink issue, but we still have the problem when using Thunderbird via IMAP. I saw some other threads about missing attachments with IMAP, but I did not see any addressing GW8.0.2, which we have across the board. Any ideas on how to correct? If I missed a thread that addresses this, please point me to it.

  • Can't send any email with touchpad client.

In the last week or so I am no longer able to send any emails with the Touchpad email client. This had worked fine on my home WiFi up till then. I have a hotmail an a gmail account and neither work. I have seen a couple limited posts on this but am surprised there aren't more issues with this. I had restarted several times, deleted and re-added accounts and no fix.
    Any help appreciated....

OK, I Doctored my Touchpad and the email sending via hotmail and gmail are now working.  I haven't doctored in about 6 months which isn't too bad but it would be nice to not have to do this.

  • Sending large messages via ABAP client proxy

    Dear All,
my scenario is the following. I have an ABAP report which creates files. These files are currently moved by an FTP auto job, to a target folder and are finally imported into an 3rd party programm.
The CSV-files created consist of approx. 3000 records, each with a length of 1000. So the total size is about 3 MB. The files are send at night, once a day.
We want to distribute these files via SAP PI. My question is the following:
Is a client proxy able to send the whole (3MB) message to PI (which will just write the message to the target FTP destination) or do I have to send each record with the client proxy to PI (and append the record to the file).
If both solutions are feasible, what would be preferable? The solution of sending single records to PI, would be more generic in my opinion, because I could define a message type for the records in PI. So in future i could add also some mapping stuff. If I would want to send the whole file content with one client proxy call, i would basically have one big string.
How do both options compare in regard to performance? Sending 3000 small messages oder one big message?
What about the file adapter? Is it an option to append 3000 records to a file?
Does anyone have another solution for that scenario?
Best regards and thank you for your help!
    Florian

    Hi,
Is a client proxy able to send the whole (3MB) message to PI
    yes it is capable.
If both solutions are feasible, what would be preferable?
yes both solutions are feasible ,but preferable is to send the whole message rather than one by one.
How do both options compare in regard to performance?
sending whole message is far more better than sending record by record.
    regards,

  • Email Sender's display name not displaying/resolving on internal emails with POP/IMAP clients

Here's the scenario. I have two 2013 test accounts setup in Outlook as POP/SMTP accounts. I have their name setup as initials in the outlook account (the "Your Name" field).  If I send an email (Through SMTP) to a 2013 Exchange(Outlook
Anywhere) client, their names resolve to their actual Display Name in the GAL which is correct.  Now if I send an email to another 2013 POP/IMAP user, their name shows what is setup in Outlook which is their initials which is not correct.
Now we are currently in the process of a 2007 to 2013 migration.  I do not see this behavior on the Exchange 2007 side with POP/IMAP clients.  If I run the same test setup with a 2007 mailbox as the recipient, the sender's name resolves to
their GAL display name and NOT the name configured in the Outlook Account settings.  It doesn't matter whether the sender is a 2007 or 2013 account.  As long as the recipient is on 2007 it works fine.
This is all tested using authenticated SMTP.  The only difference I can tell is that the 2007 servers resolve the name before delivering it to the inbox where the 2013 servers don't.
There aren't any GAL or Address Book related issues on the 2013 side.  Full exchange clients or OWA work correctly.

    Hi,
It seems to be related to the permission settings on the receive connector. For example, using a Receive Connector for Anonymous Relay. We can refer to this article:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996395(v=exchg.141).aspx
And we can use the tool Dsacls to check the permissions:

  • Send as Distribution group with a mailcontact

    Hello,
We're having problems to grant a mailcontact (external of our domain) with send as permission on a distribution group. We've tried already through ADUC's security tab...and the problem is that the mailcontact does not appear, so we can't add the send as permission.
Otherwise using the get-mailcontact cmdlet it appears as a mailcontact, and it's listed in the EMC list as well.
Also trying through powershell it seems that won't work with:
[PS] C:\Windows\system32>Add-ADPermission "DistributionGroup" -User "MailContact" -Extendedrights "Send As"
    It says:
User or group "MailContact" wasn't found. Please make sure you've typed it correctly.
So I was wondering, how can I especify that it's not a User but a MailContact?
    Many thanks in advance!

    Hi,
As what Steve says, we can’t give send as permission to a MailContact. As a workaround, I think we can create a mail user with [email protected] account in AD. Then give full access permission with a domain mailbox(UserA) and set
Send As permission to this mail user for the distribution group:
    1. Create a Mail User:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124381(v=exchg.150).aspx
    2. Set Send As permission:
Add-ADPermission "DistributionGroup" -User "MailUser" -Extendedrights "Send As"
    3. Assign Full access permission to the mail user to make sure there is a mailbox for this user:
Add-MailboxPermission “UserA” -User "MailUser" -AccessRights FullAccess
Then we can configure the mailbox(UserA) with MailUser account and send as the distribution group in Outlook client:
    1. Open Control Panel > Mail > E-mail Accounts > New.
    2. In the Auto Account Setup window, fill in the E-mail Account name(UserA) and E-mail Address([email protected]). Then click Next without type Password.
    3. Click Finish to close the window.
    4. Open Outlook and a Windows Security window would pop-up. Please use MailUser account information(User name: Domain\MailUser and Password) to log into this mailbox.
    5. Click New Email > OPTIONS > From, then the From field is shown in the message.
    6. Click From > Other E-mail Address, and select the DistributionGroup.
Then this external user can send as this distribution group.
    Hope it helps.

  • Sending to a shared contact group with subgroups fail

    Hello all,
I am hoping someone can help me with this one, as I have researched non stop and cannot find an answer.
    SCENARIO:
Outlook 2010 (with all the latest updates)
    Exchange 2010
    Windows 7 x64
We are a group of 15 users. All 15 of us add a shared mailbox used for communications into our Outlook client so we can access and monitor the entire mailbox, including contacts.
When trying to send a communication to a Contact group that is in the shared mailbox contacts, it will work fine unless there is another contact group within that group (subgroup).  The email will bounce back with the following error:
[email protected] #550 5.4.4 ROUTING.NoConnectorForAddressType; unable to route for address type ##
If you send to a contact group with a subgroup from your own local contacts, it works fine.
If you send to a contact group without a subgroup, it works fine.
If you log directly into the shared mailbox and send from there, it works fine.
This issue appears ONLY to occur when sending to a contact group that has a subgroup within it from a shared contact list.
Based on my investigation, it appears that Outlook is trying to look for the subgroups within the local contact list, not the location of the actual contact group itself. Perform the following steps:
Add an additional (or shared) mailbox to your Outlook profile.
In the shared mailbox contact list, create 2 contact groups. (Test 1 and Test 2).
Add Test 2 into the Test 1 group. In Test 2 group, create/add a contact. (This may easiest be done by the shared mailbox itself)
Ensure you are logged into your original profile, and Right click the Test 1 group and Create->Email.
You will notice right away if you expand the Test 1 group, it will show up Test 2 (Unknown) and if you try and double click Test 2 to see it's properties, it says it cannot find it. If you perform this same step while logged into the shared mailbox directly,
it is able to locate the contact.
Any information I have found on this bounceback references a bug where a link in an email who try to send to a contact using MAILTO instead of SMTP. However, this is not the scenario I am in.
It is currently not feasible to have everyone add all these contact groups into their own contact list, as these groups change all the time.
If anyone has any ideas how this could be fixed, or have maybe other suggestions of how to use and access groups with subgroups for communications without logging into the shared mailbox, that would be great. We are unable to login to the shared mailbox
directly anymore as we are doing away with shared passwords.
    Thanks all

    Hello,
How did you select the recipients when composing email? Did you click the To button and select it from the Address Book or use the auto-complete list? If you select from the auto-complete list, please try deleting the contact group from the auto-complete
    list and then test again.
In addition, since the bounceback error is similar to the MAILTo bug, we may try to install the hotfix to take a chance.

I am automating the process of sending appointment reminders to my clients. I started with an alert with an email in calendar using the clients email address as a custom entry in my me card in my contacts. this was resulting in three emails being sent with slightly different versions of the same address (see my previous post). Heating someone else's suggestion I created a workflow file to send an email and calling that file from an alert on my calendar. This is working and sends only one email to the client.
My calendar is on I cloud and I access it from three different computers so I can keep my appointment calendar current. The files that send the email only exist on one computer. My other computers show error messages when those emails get sent. It seems that each computer wants to send the email. It's a small problem but is there a way that I could not get those alerts.
But appreciate any thoughts about this. It seems like both problems might be related to the iCloud system.
    Thank you in advance,
    Michael

Good work, catch so far Michael, does seem to be a "feature" of iCloud syncing, not sure what you could do to disable it.

That sounds like a settings issue to me. Check with your IT depatment to make sure you have it configured properly.

  • Mail Sender Adapter with IMAPS

    Hi,
I had a Mail Sender Adapter running fine with imap. Our Email Server has changed now to secure protocol. Therefore I need to use the Mail Sender Adapter with IMAPS. If I use imaps://<mailserver>:993 in the channel configuration the Mail Adapter aborts with error "not initialized; mail agent null" and in the default trace it says "failed to initialize the channel: java.io.IOException: illegal protocol for XMBIMAPInitiator: imaps#". If I configure the Mail Adapter with  <b>imap</b>://<mailserver>:993 the Mail Adapter starts and says "running", but it does not poll the postbox. In the security.log file there is a warning about untrusted certificates "com.sap.security.core.server.https.SecureConnectionFactory#Plain###Attempting to create outgoing ssl connection without trusted certificates#". I did already import the (CA) Certifcate of the mailserver with key storage service of J2EE Engine in the Trusted area and I configured the J2EE Engine for using SSL (the https access to the J2EE Engine works fine).
What is still missing in XI 3.0 (SP12)? I can access the postbox securely with e.g. Thunderbird using port 993.
Has anyone an idea or had already this issue?
