Sendmail is hanging
whenever sendmail is ran, it just hangs. no output until killed. anyone else have this?
well, I tried a simple php page (http://files.twilightlair.net/misc/mail/mailform.php) and got this:

anything via command line is still just it hanging..

OEL 5.3 hangs on starting on sendmail
Hi,
I used for long time RHEL 4.2 and other distros (Slackware, Debian) and never saw this behaviour.
When I change the network settings the system hangs on sendmail and some times when I change network settings it hangs on startx or init 5 giving a black screen.
Commonly I experienced that systems comes up anyway and an X restart (ctrl alt backspace) restores X.
I think this behaviour is not common ( I suppose it coulb the same on a RHEL friend distro).
Any suggestion to avoid this behaviour?

Fabio D'AlfonsoSendmail (and the sendmail helper/companion) will hang 1 minute if the hostname set is not a FQDN, but an hostname without the domain.
If you want it running only locally (thus do not need a domain suffix), try setting the hostname to hostname.local instead of hostname, and update it in /etc/hosts accordingly. -
Sendmail plug-in not loaded at installation of Reader 10.1.3 - reader goes in hang mode
HI, Installed Reader 10.1.3 and the sendmail plug-in does not load. When trying to attach an email, reader goes in hang mode and I have to force quit. How can I load the plug-in? Thanks!

That is rather strange; the Adobe Reader executable is AcroRd32.exe
If that is what you actually saw, can you check the Event Viewer (applications) for the time when that happened, if you can see any reasons why this happened? -

Doing some independent research into an issue we are having here. We have 21 x4540s running 5.10 Generic_141445-09. They are used as NFSv4 servers to front-end servers. The x4540s that are used for mail (postfix+dovecot) periodically hang. The others do not.
Since they hang, it has been difficult to diagnose what the issue could be. We have "set pcplusmp:apic_panic_on_nmi=1" in /etc/system, and I try to issue "set generate_host_nmi = true" in ILOM, but it appears to be too dead to manage that.
The only symptoms we have in the logs are:

A few times I have had a working shell connected when it happened, still running top, which shows it is not out of memory, not even close. No process has gone wild (pretty much just nfsd running). It would appear that it can't start new processes, but not due to lack of memory. Eventually it grinds down to a halt, including console. If I try to run "reboot" (or even reboot -d) it tries to reboot, but fails (just hangs). ILOM reset /SYS will bring it all back again.
Currently, this happens 2-3 times a month. Funnily enough, always at night. What does run at night is a recursive zfs snapshot. It usually dies sometime after that. The process that always gets the first error is rquotad. But that could just be because it is constantly queried.
Not much to go on alas.
Then one day, we got a panic dump. Is it the same problem, or something unrelated? Hard to know, but IF it were to be related...

Can I use mdb to dump all the currently-used-stack memory, and collect that data to see if there is a leak? I could also double the stacksize and see if the period between trouble also doubles.

Thanks for the reply. I have handed it off to the local support, and believe they have forward it to Oracle Japan. Possible, it goes through a lot of language translation, so it is a little like playing Telephone.
I was trying to decipher your ::cpuinfo -v information to see if I could determine if we were having this issue. But I am unsure what to look for in a non-healthy system.

ENABLE As for "ps" we only have 42 procs, and threads the biggest process is "nfsd" (can use up to 1024, but hovers around 300). We are not hanging (or even considering the fork error) due to normal resource limits.
While waiting, I am poking around in the dump to see if we can find anything interesting. Last time, Telka managed to find out about the OpenOwner lock leaks, which was encouraging. -
Sendmail creating many mail.local process
I have configured sendmail 8.13.8 on Solaris 10. The issue is that after sendmail configuration, i found that many mail.local process are created & this hangs the server. Below is the config file sendmail.mc i used for configuration to relay messages to another server. I compiled this file & copied it to /etc/mail folder as sendmail.cf. After this i restarted sendmail. After couple of hours, many mail.local process are created

Form hangs and logo didn't display -through outlook express
Hi,
I have created a logo and added into the forms (10.1.3) using the look and feel option.
when i tried to run the application through the link to the hp-ux box through the Internet explorer(6.0.2900.5912) in the favorites folder, it works, i'm able to open multiple sessions and logo displayed al the time.
But, when i tried to click on the link i have it in the outlook express (2007) , it works first time without logo and second time it hangs.
Any body knows that what it cause............Thanks.The sendmail functionality uses an api called mapi. As this api is not controlled by Acrobat it can be influenced by outside sources. This api can be expoited by viruses etc for DOS attacks. for this reason many of the virus scan software vendors have provisions in their software that will affect when mapi calles can be made.
As far as webmail is concerned there is no api for that program (there is no automation) so it is expected that the user will save the pdf and attach it to an email by hand. You will notice a dialog when the sendmail is executed indicating this (1st dialog that pops up).

I have Apache, PHP, MySQL and phpMyAdmin set up and running well on my iMac (10.5.4) development computer. I am trying to use the mail(); feature in PHP but I do not think everything is configured properly and am looking for some help. I have this simple script:

This is sitting on my testing Virtual Host. I receive the Message Sent part but I never receive an email to my account. Looking through the log files (/var/log/mail), I see a lot of connection refused issues. Here are a couple of lines from the log:

I know that there has been a number of fixes on solaris as well as NT since Feb dist. Here is what I have of the bugfixes, there may have been more since this hotfix. If you have a license you should be able to ask sun support for the latest hotfix.

My Excel with PowerPivots acts weird, it hangs when i try to change font color

I am facing a weird issue using PowerPivot in my workbook, there is a worksheet named Charts in my workbook and all the charts i am using resides in that worksheet. Whenever i try to change the font color in that sheet, my excel's color palette goes blur
and then everything just freezes and turns black. This problem is happening only with Charts worksheet, when i try to change the color in other sheets, it works just, the problem is only with Charts sheet. File
size is 16 MB, there are just 10 pivot tables with some calculations and some calculated fields. There are no add-ins other than PowerPivot.

Which Excel version are you using? Excel 2013 or other?
Which workbook format are you using? XLS or XLSX?
Are you performing any specific task?
According to your description, this issue seems only occur with the special worksheet "Charts".
Firstly, I recommend we copy all of the content to a new/blank Excel file to test.
If it works fine, this issue might be caused by the "Charts" workbook itself. We'd better check the "Charts" workbook. Or re-build the file with a new workbook.
If it still makes Excel hang with a new file, this issue might due to the content. Please check the content first.
Secondly, we could follow below KB to troubleshoot this issue:

My system is Windows 7 - 64 bit operating system
I've used Firefox for many many years and always praised it compared to EI. I am afraid I wont be able to praise it much more. It stinks. It hangs mostly when I am playing games or looking at pictures or videos. Its worse when on Facebook but also happens on other web site. I did all the troubleshooting, updates, remove old versions and re install, disable add ons all and all Its driving me insane. Can you solve the problem with a new versionof Firefox or do we have to flush the darn browser for good.

When I boot up it hangs on the login screen for awhile, why?
I have a mid 2011 Macbook Air 13". It came with Lion but I recently updated to Mountain Lion. When I wake the laptop from sleep everything is fine. If it's been awhile since it slept (a couple of hours), the login screen hangs. What happens is that it boots like normal and looks like everything is correct, but it won't let me type in my password. After 10 seconds or so I can see a cursor come up but it won't let me type (but anything I do type at this point will later fill in the field after another 2-3 seconds or so). One other thing that's weird is that when the screen first comes up it shows the battery percentage from when I put it back on the charger, then after everything catches up, it changes to show 100%.
I hope I explained the problem well enough. Basicly a "wake from sleep" is fine if it hasn't been long since the laptop slept, but if it's been awhile it takes about 15-20 seconds to boot up.
Ideas?Here are some suggestions based on my recent issue with unable to get Mavericks up after upgrade - The Apple geniuses just simply couldnt figure this one out...despite it being in their shop for 3 days (They probably did not look at it...and asked if they can just wipe out everything and install fresh...i had said NO):
Restart computer and hold Cmd+V when you hear chime. This will start the computer in Verbose mode.
See the messages and see where the system boot fails. In my case, it was some backtrace IOStorageFamily issue with com.paragon-software.
Google may be able to solve your Apple issues - just type the error message in and see if you get any useful suggestions. in most cases - this would be some faulty 3rd party drivers.....
In my case, it was something stupid i had probably installed....I had to boot to safe mode (Hold Shift at boot chime) - open Terminal, delete the folder com.paragon-software.kext from System/Library/Extensions....that fixed the problem. Mavericks is working great now....
