Sendmail on linux and oracle colloboration suite on windows 2000

Hello
I am new to Oracle collaboration suite .We just want to know ,how we can implement sendmail on linux server on a seperate machine and Oracle collaboration suite on windows 2000 on a different machine.Whether it is possible or not if yes then what are the steps to be taken for this,I mean how we can go for it.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Maddie,
=> Phsyical DataGuard supports different platforms, but not different versions. So no option.
=> Logical Standby => while supporting different versions of database, it hat platform restrictions. So especially with 10g is not an option as well
=> GoldenGate is probably the way to go, but unfortunately not a cost free option. But would ideally support what you expect.
=> Streams might be possible as well...

Sebastian

  • "Oracle BPM  Suite 11g" and "Oracle SOA Suite 11g" components

    Dear Friends,
I am very confusing about the "Oracle BPM suite 11g" and "Oracle SOA Suite 11g" and would like your help on explanation as the following :
I have learn that In order to use "Oracle BPM Suite 11g" require to have "Oracle SOA Suite 11g" components to install first. Does it means that :
    1) When we buy "Oracle BPM Suite 11g" , we automatically get the "Oracle SOA Suite 11g" components as well ?
    2) IS it correct that these " these Oracle SOA Suite 11g components" are included :
    (a) Oracle BAM
    (b) Oracle Business Rules
    (c) Oracle BPEL Manager
    (d) Oracle Service Bus
    (e) Oracle Complex Event Processing
    3) Do we have a right to use all of these components listed in (2) ?
    4) Then the answers in (3) is "YES", then Is it correct when the customer buy the "Oracle BPM Suite 11g" , they no need to buy "Oracle SOA 11g" any more when they would like to implements that applications based on SOA in the future (without using BPM) ?
    5) What IF , the customer would like to start with "Oracle SOA Suite 11g" product and decide to buy only Oracle SOA Suite 11g first ; then later on in the future they would like to implement BPM projects in the future. Can you upgrade "Oracle SOA Suite 11g" to include "Oracle BPM Sutie 11g" and pay only the price different ?
I hope you can help providing the answers to these questions. THank you very much in advance.
    Best Regards
    Pearapon S.

This is a question best answered by your Oracle reseller or Oracle account manager to give you all the details but I hope this brief answer helps:
    - The Unified Business Process Management Suite (BPM Suite 11g) includes: BPM Studio, BPM Composer, BPMN Service Engine and Workflow Extensions, BPM Process Spaces, and BPM Process Analytics.
    - BPM Suite 11g requires the licensing of SOA Suite 11g for Oracle Middleware which requires a license for WebLogic Suite.
    - You can license SOA Suite 11g now and license BPM Suite 11g later.
Since the products are layered, I don't see this cutting into SOA sales at all. My personal view is that BPM on top of SOA is brilliant since it provides easy integration between human and automated tasks, builds on many of the SOA concepts that are key for a successful BPM implementation (functional, not the Oracle product), and uses the same IDE. The synergies extend past easy use of services; the same business rules and human workflow components are used between both products.

  • 32 Bit Installation or Oracle Linux and Oracle Database 10g

I have an old E-Machine that I wanted to put Oracle Linux and Oracle Database Express 11G on. I was just wanting to do some testing and development on the system. I'm pretty sure the machine is 32bit.
I just burned a copy of 32 bit Oracle Linux onto a CD. Is there a version of Oracle Database Express that will run on it?
It seems like there is only a 64 bit version of Oracle Express Database 11g. Is Oracle Database Express 10g installable on Oracle Linux 32 bit?
Let me know! Thanks in an advance.

One (or two) caveats with the 10g version, XE can not be patched and the 10.2.0.1 XEs were created before the current daylight savings time rules went into effect.
If you have access to My Oracle Support there is a method to get updated timezone files for the oracle binaries, you need at least version 4 of the DST files. I've got the MOS docIDs somewhere let us know if needed and I'll dig 'em up.

  • H/W & Data migration form AS 400/DB2 V5 R4 to Unix/Linux and Oracle

We are considering migration of huge data(in Terabytes) from AS 400/DB2 V5 R4 to Unix/Linux and Oracle.
We are changing operating system and data base also..Please advise if R98403 can be used to move data in terabytes.
I understand Oracle work bench does not support V5 R4.
I would like to know pointers on possible tools and approach for the migration.
    Thanks
    Las

    Hi,
May I know the reason for this huge change? As most of the current setups of E1 are on AS00 only. Then also if you are planning to migrate your hardware and data from DB2/OS400 to Orcle and Unix/Linux you can consider below options for data migration:
    1) R98403 and R98403A are best approach for this type of migration it may consule some extra time but accurate..! As no other tools like Oracle Workbench can
    provide 100% accuracy.
    2) Archive data size if possible with the help of BA team and work on some purging this will help you to great level.
    3) If you decide to go live on new setup please consider going live module wise as a specific module data can be moved fast, and if BA team can specify some specific tables only getting hit for module trasection they can develop TC reports for specific data to be migrated and can save your time instead of copying entire data set again at go live.
    Good Luck..!
    Thanks,

  • What do I need to install when I install oralce in linux and oracle client

What do I need to install when I install oralce in linux and oracle client in windows?
I want to connect oracle from windows to Linux, what do I need to install or setup? thanks.

Are you trying to install the DB on Linux from your Windows Box? if so, you need to have an XWindows client on your client. You have to SSH or Telnet into the box, set your DISPLAY variable. In fact, it is all in your documentation for the DB install. We still don't understand what you are exactly asking.
Do you have direct access to your Linux machine? If so, and it has a graphical GUI, then you can find install guides for most flavors of Linux at dizwell.com. His are most excellent and show examples, but do not go over the XWindows problem. You would have to resolve that first.
A free XWindows environment for Windows is Cygwin.
Once the DB is running on Linux then all you do is create a TNS entry on it on your client and it connects. It is the same as setting up a connection to connect to Oracle on a Windows box.

  • Install SAP ERP 6.0 with Linux and Oracle RAC

    Hi Guru,
I want to install SAP ERP 6.0 with Linux and Oracle RAC. Is this possible?
    Where do I find information?
    Thanks,
    Hugo.

    Hello Hugo,
You can use either RAC or dataguard. On note [105047|http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/105047]:
    14. Data Guard
o  You can use "Physical Standby".
o  You cannot use "Logical Standby".
o  You can use Data Guard Broker.
o  You can use Maximum Performance Mode, Maximum Availability Mode and Maximum Protection Mode.
o  In the case of Maximum Availability and Maximum Protection, you must pay particular attention to a fast network connection in order to avoid performance problems.
o  Maximum Protection causes the primary database to terminate if problems occur in the standby database.
    60. Real Application Cluster (RAC)
o  You can use this feature in accordance with Note 527843.

  • Running Oracle XE and Oracle enterprise on same windows machine

    Hi,
I never had to try anything similar to this on windows. I need to continue to run Oracle Enterprise edition and Oracle XE on my windows machine.
I can install both, but when I try to run the Listener for XE Edition, it starts the listener for the enterprise edition.
Also the DB Homepage doesnt work, which leads me to believe that it might be using some fo the enterprise files, not the XE files.
I cant access the XE forum, because I cant register, so sorry for posting this here. I cant seem to find a place that mentions or explains how you can run both on a Windows box.
I have run multiple oracle versions on Unix, just never on windows...

On the windows case, the order of evaluation is taken from the PATH environment variable. This same rule applies when you have several Oracle products installed on the same box, ensure you are launching a tool that makes sense with its home, i.e. launching netca to configure a tnsentry at the XE home will not work since XE doesn't have a netca tool and the tnsora file it will be modifying will be that of the oracle home it is related to. On the other hand, when lauching sqlplus it would not be too dangerous since any compatible version of sqlplus will work.
There are issues with the listener, Oracle XE requires to be registered against the listener, additionally it will create an OraDAV access (http protocol) to open the access to the Web Administration Console. If you are planning to use web/plsql application this is also important. It can work with the other listener, but depending on your particular conditions you may want to start an independent listener for XE.

  • Moving oracle 9i database from windows 2000 to windows 2003 server

    hi everybody,
plz provide me a solution how to move oracle 9i database from windows 2000 server to windows 2003 server with step by step and also with commands plz as i am very new to oracle
    thanks in advance
    suresh

Install 9i on windows 2003 server and patch to the same level as the Oracle on Windows 2k
Shutdown and make a cold backup of your old database. That includes datafiles, controlfiles, redo files, init file (spfile)
Copy and put these files to the exact same directory structure/location, for example if old file is under D:\oradata\mysid\ then the file on new file should be under same directory. (If you are using Network Storage that make things easier, just mapping to the same drive letter.)
Also make sure archive log dest and all dump dest directories are created. You don't have to copy all old logs and dump files over.
Use oradim to create a new service for the database instance
    http://www.psoug.org/reference/oradim.html
Set proper ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_SID envionment varibles
Run netca to configure listener, actually copy listener.ora and tnsnames.ora to $ORACLE_HOME\network\admin will do
    Try to start the database

  • Data Transfer between AS400(Linux) and Oracle(Windows Server)

    Hi,
We have AS400 system which resides on Linux architecture.
We want to transfer millions of records from AS400 to Oracle which resides on Windows server.
We think to build Odbc connection on windows machine and accessing to AS400 data from this connection.
But I am not sure the performance of this approach.
I would be glad if you share your experiences.
    Regards & Thanks

    Hi,
ODBC is generally pretty slow in my experience - your alternatives are probably one of the following
    1) use odbc maybe with heterogeneous services on top (this allows you to have a database link directly from oracle to db2)
    2) use a transparent gateway - similar to 1) but has more functionality and will have a licence cost
    3) write some c/java program to do it
    4) dump the data to a flat file, transfer to windows, sqlldr that file in
It all comes down to how good the performance needs to be (ODBC may be good enough) and how much effort needs to be put i to other approaches.
I suggest you just give odbc a try, if it looks like its not up to the job then consider alternatives. In the past we've used option 4 for this kind of thing but it is very dependent on the environment you are running in (amount/type of data, speed of network etc).

  • Oracle enterprise linux and oracle 10g?

    Hey;
I'm pretty new to trying to download oracle and get it installed on a linux box. I made a couple of attempts on linux fedora core 10 and windows vista home edition both of which didn't get very far. Since I just past my ocp exams via a boot camp (yay for me!), I'm hoping to get a couple of linux boxes up and running to ensure I get the concepts down through practice.
From what I'm reading, it looks like I can download enterprise linux, put that on a system, and then download oracle 10g and install that w/little or no trouble (at least not expected...)
Am I reading that right or did I miss something? Any info greatly apprecaited.
    Doug O'Leary

    Hello,
You can download enterprise linux and 10g and get going. Enterprise linux is pre-packaged for the required components required to install oracle software, here is a link for your future reference to see platform compatibility.

  • MOSS2k7 and Oracle BI suite

    hi,
I would like to know whether Oracle BI suite provide webparts for MOSS2k7, otherwise does it make possible to retrieve reports and dashboard elements through web services.

There are 3 different options that BI EE provides for integration
    1. Standard GO URL. This kind of integration is very basic. You would basically be calling individual reports and dashboards using URL parameters and you can embed them into your portal by means of iframes. Check my blog entry here http://oraclebizint.wordpress.com/2007/07/30/customizing-obi-ee-%e2%80%93-go-url-parameters/ for an example.
    2. Standard SOAP APIs. Entire BI EE is available to end users in the form of standard WSDL web services. One can call individual reports as well as dashboards using these standard WSDL's. Check my blog entry here for an example http://oraclebizint.wordpress.com/2007/07/31/customizing-obi-ee-soap-api/
    3. I believe Sharepoint is WSRL compliant(not sure though. If not this methodology is not applicable). If yes then you can call BI EE portlets deployed into a WSRP container. Check my blog entry here for an example http://oraclebizint.wordpress.com/2007/12/20/oracle-bi-ee-101332-deploying-jsr-168-portlets-displaying-reports-in-web-center-suite-using-jdeveloper/
