Senforce 3.2 conflicts with Intel Wireless drivers

Hi, the company I work for is running Senforce 3.2 (the old name for Endpoint Security). It is conflicting with the Intel Wireless drivers in a batch of new laptops (both trying to start/stop the drivers at same time).
Would like to know if anyone has seen similar behaviour, or what a possible solution might be.
Many thanks.

  • Booting with intel-wireless

Trying to install Arch on a netbook. Used unetbootin to create a liveusb. How do I boot with this parameter?

    Right, sorry.
Anyway, I got it to boot with that, but now I've realized that's not what I needed, I have an Atheros card.
Thing is, I can't get it to work during the setup.
These are outputs of some commands:

  • Installing Arch with intel wireless (iwlwifi-3945)

i have tried various times in the past few weeks to install arch with minimal success.  The only time i was able to actually set up a system that would allow me to get to a gui and use the internet was when i had an install of Archie Linux (Live CD)  that i had to chroot with kubuntu to add wireless support.  Needless to say i preferred a cleaner install (especially after having to manually rename the folders, etc. for the repository changes).
Anyways when arch is loading it makes mention of needing to append the boot image to include intel-wireless.  i was wondering what exactly was involved in doing that.  Because after trying to just install the package ifconfig does not show my wlan device.  Any help is appreciated.  let me know if more info is needed.

I have Arch with iwl3945 drivers running here just fine. No tweaks to the cpio image needed.
I have never heard of this either... You need both the drivers and the firmware. Check dmesg if everything is okay. Ifconfig -a should show a wlan0 device, if not, something went wrong.

Since 1.1.0 stability is just fine. Throughput is still a problem though. I get like 2.8 MBps with earlier versions, and the 1.1.21 one can hit it too, but mostly it's around 1 MBps . I prefer that to yet another proprietary package though. It's not every day I transfer a few GB to my wired server .

  • Pc laptops Compatible with Intel Wireless Display (WiDi)

I am perplexed and am in need of information/understanding/a reality check.
I recently bought a Lenovo Z570 laptop that was explicitly advertised as supporting Intel Wireless Display (WiDi). I also bought a Belkin Screencast adaptor.
The computer arrived and there was the WiDi shortcut on the desktop. I plugged the Screencast adaptor to my tv through an HDMI cable and set the tv to the correct channel for the input. Great so far!
Per Intel's list of updates (http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wtech/iwd/sb/CS-033375.htm), I went through and updated the wireless driver and then the Graphics driver. When I tried to update the Intel Wireless Display software, the process was aborted. And my screencast said that the monitor display could not be sent to tv.
After a lot of searching, I realized that my i5-2450M processor does not appear on Intel's list of compatible processors. System requirements can be found at http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wtech/iwd/sb/CS-031059.htm which says that the processor must be:
    ONE of the following:
    Intel® Core™ i7: 640M; 660LM; 640LM; 620LM; 620M; 610E; 690UM; 680UM; 660UM; 640UM; 620UM; 660UE; 2710QE; 2820QM; 2720QM; 2635QM; 2630QM; 2657M; 2649M; 2629M; 2620M; 2617M; 2540M; 2520M; 2510E; 2640LM; 2620LM; 2630UM; 2610UM; 2530UM; 2920XM
    Intel® Core™ i5: 580M; 560M; 540M; 520M; 480M; 460M; 450M; 430M; 580UM; 560UM; 540UM; 520UM; 470UM; 430UM; 2540M; 2520M; 2410M; 2537M
    Intel® Core™ i3: 390M; 380M; 370M; 350M; 330M; 330E; 2310M
Strange, but at that point I was just angry that the store and/or Lenovo had made a whopping mistake. After all, the WiDi shortcut and program was on my laptop; there has to be a reason for that, right?
After a lot of searching, I haven't come up with any answers, only more questions. Here on Best Buy, I searched for pc laptops that support WiDi. A list of 36 or 37 machines came up as qualifying. However, in going through them one by one, only a handful have processors that appear on Intel's list for the System Requirements.
I am very confused. Is Intel's list out of date? But if that's so, why didn't my attempt to update and use the software work? Are bestbuy and costco and multiple laptop makers mistaken when they say a machine is capable of supporting Wireless Display? What the heck is going on? Can anyone help me figure this out?
The Lenovo is on it's way back, but I need a new laptop as my old one is literally falling apart. A new one with WiDi would be extremely useful for a disabled family member. I'm also stuck with the Screencast I bought now too. Beyond all that, I'm really curious what is going on. Am I just stupid or befuddled or . . .is there something I'm missing? Any help would be so, so appreciated. Thank you.

The notebook does fully support WiDi but for some unknown reason, yours simply did not work. The CPU specs from Intel list WiDi as a capability of the CPU and the notebook has the appropriate hardware. I couldn't say why it didn't work but Lenovo does not advertise WiDi as a function of that model on their website so something is obviously off.

  • Experimented: iPS with latest update "conflicts" with Intel Mac mini

    Hello everyone.
Please see my earlier post first as "background story":
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=602573
So I have 2 1Gb iPod Shuffles, one mine, one my sister's. My sister's, the 1st time I plugged into her new Intel Mac mini, it asked for an iPod Update, I clicked "Yes" and proceeded with the update.
After that, I set the iPS with Disk Mode, it appears on the Desktop, when I launched or inside iTunes, once I hit the "Autofill" button, the shuffle unmount and disappear from the desktop immediately, leaving behind a 'warning message' with red exclamation mark, the same when you pull out a thumb drive or turn off an external drive, without unmounting them first.
My own shuffle, I did not apply the latest iPod Updater
When I bring the 2 iPS to my own iMac G5, both with same settings (Disk Mode etc) mounts perfectly on the Desktop, inside iTunes, I can 'Autofill' BOTH shuffles.
When I plug my non-updated shuffle into my sis's Intel Mac mini, it mounts nicely, and when hit with Autofill, it does so nicely without "self-unmounting" at all.
So in the end? I swap my shuffle with my sis, and make sure she never ever update the shuffle, at least for the time being.
So what does this show?? That the iPod shuffle with the latest update may have a conflict of instability with Intel-based Macs??
    Thanks and cheers

    Hi Howwow,
To add a detail: my updated Shuffle works like a charm on my old iBook and not on my new Intel MacBook. So I am convinced it is in the Shuffle/Intel combination. I did try undoing the update on the shuffle (reverting back to 2005-11-17), but that made no difference on my Intel MacBook.

  • Conflict with Linksys Wireless C

I've recently installed a Linksys Wireless Networking WMP54G card in my desktop and apparently it is conflicting with my Audigy 2 Soundblaster card (i.e. each works fine by itself, but the system keeps re-booting if they are installed together and won't boot into Windows XP at all).
I'm using Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2 and Linksys tech support has been no help at all, simply telling me it's an OS issue and there's nothing they can do. I already tried manually assigning IRQ numbers to each of the PCI slots in the BIOS, but that doesn't seem to have done anything, since when I view "System Information" in windows, the IRQ for both the Linksys card and the Audigy are changed to IRQ 7 (instead of 0 & , as I had manually assigned in the bios).
Does anyone know if there's a way to change the IRQ setting on the Soundblaster Audigy 2 card, so that it doesn't conflict with my Linksys card? Or, alternati'vely, is anyone familiar with any XP settings that I can change to get XP to assign a different IRQ to the Soundblaster card?
At least a link to any possible information would be very much appreciated. It's been three days now of trying to get these two cards to work together and I'm about to throw the whole thing out a second story window!
    Thanks!

check your bios if the option Plug&play os is enabled.
This because Linksys is right, windows handles the irq/dma sharing automatically.
And as you experience not always the right way.
Maybe you can move one of the two cards in another pci-slot(move them as far as possible away from each other(Linksys+Creative card).
i guess you can better contact M$...(if you've a legal windows).
Or try a Linux boot cd(li've cd linux that runs from cd like knoppix). Because if you've the same problem with a linux li've cd then it must be a hardware issue, if it works fine with Linux Li'veCd then it's a Windows issue like Linksys try to explain.
knoppix li've CD: (download image and burn it to cd-r, then start computer(boot) with this cd-r in it)
    http://www.knopper.net/knoppix-mirrors/index-en.html
oh "and I'm about to throw the whole thing out a second story window!" advise: throw the soundcard away!
p.s. congratulations with your Wireless Fidelity hardware...WiFi=freedom !!!(compared to commercial isp's)Message Edited by www_96KHz_tk on -4-2005 2:05 PM

  • Problems connecting on Wireless 802.11n with my T61 with Intel Wireless AGN

Hi, I live in Thailand and have a similar problem as others with my Intel Wireless AGN connection as others.  I have a D-Link Model DSL-2740B Rangebooster N ADSL2/2+ Modem Router. It is supposed to support 802.11n draft wireless connections of up to a maximum of 270 MBPS versus 54 MBPS for 802-11G wireless. Of course, I don't expect it to reach the maximum transfer speed, particularly here in Thaiand, however I would expect it to produce results better than the 54 MBPS rate for 802-11G. I first tried it on my ThinkPad T61 which incorporates Intel® Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN. When connected, it shows a speed of 54MBPS (802-11G) instead of higher wireless 802-11n speeds. I've upgraded my router to the latest firmware and have tried different configurations with no improvement in performance. One think I have noted is that when I make an on-line configuration change to my router configuration then select "apply", immediately my ThinkPad rate changes to 150 MBPS momentarily then my connection is lost (to be expected as the router changes are being implemented), followed by reconnection of wireless signal only to return at 54 MBPS again. I also have an older ThinkPad model without built-in wireless capability so I purchased a Belkin wireless 802.11n USB adapter to connect to my router. Again, the maximum connection is at 54 MBPS. When I repeat configuration changes to my router as I did above, my ThinkPad connection momentarily changes to only 1 MBPS instead of 150 MBPS as in my other T61 ThinkPad then reverts back to 54 MBPS once the configuration changes have been completed. Has anyone successfully used wireless 802.11n successfully at the higher transfer rates (above 54 MBPS)? Is it possible that my TOT Goldcyber connection speed is artificially limited? I notice that my rated speed for my desktop computer connected to my same D-Link DSL-2740B only indicates a rated speed of 100 MBPS. I use Vista Home Premium 64-bit on my destop, Vista Home Premium 32-bit on my ThinkPad T61, but us Windows XP Professional on my older ThinkPad. I feel that my problem is either with my ADSL carrier (TOT) or compatibility with my D-Link DSL-2740B Modem Router and my ThinkPad T61 internal wireless card and/or Belkin wireless n USB adapter. IT-City is letting me swap out the Belkin USB for the D-Link Rangebooster n DWA-140 USB adapter next week when they restock. The only other think that I can think of is that wireless n just doesn't work in Thailand and that maybe I should just stick with wireless G and go with a higher powered wireless USB model such as the business rated EmGenius EUB 362 EXT. Has anyone used this model and had good success with it; I've heard that it is a long range model and has the capability of reaching 108 MBPS through some sort of magic? Looking forward to reading your replies and possible solution.
     Pattayadavid

    Hi!
Intel Wi-Fi cards support full 802.11n speed of 300 Mb/s working at 5 GHz range only. Your D-Link DSL-2740B works only in 2.4 GHz range. So to get 300 Mb/s you have to get another wi-fi router that supports 802.11n in both 2.4 and 5 GHz, for instance Lynksys WRT610N or Apple Airport Extreme or whatever.

  • Dell Studio Laptop with Intel Core i5 S15Z with Intel Wireless Display issues (WIDI) (pkg deal)

i bought this laptop in Jan,2010 . Due to some h/w issue BB replace it   in April. When i tested my wireless display capability using the  the Intel Wireless Display  option i got a message "Intel My Wifi Technology not enabled. Restart the computer and try again." i have restarted my laptop several times. Also in the icon tray when i keep the mouse pointer on top of Intel My Wifi Technology it gives a message "Adapter not found". Please help.
I took the laptop to Geek squad in BB and they told me that they need to put the laptop to factory defualt and troubleshoot the issue that why the wireless adapter is not enabled.
Any suggestion as i don't want to go through this madness of backing up the data and restoring again. This will be my 3rd time . Any other alternatives .
Anybody using the above system with Netgear push2tv . Can you share the output of device manager as i like to see what wireless device you are seeing  as i am suspecting this laptop may not have one but then sice i see the s/w available i am confused ?

Almost every time we see a WIDI display issue, it is because the user is trying to use it too far away from the t.v.. It has a very short distance and when out of range, shows an adapter not found error. Playing with it, we found that over 15 ft it adapter wouldn't connect at all, and the closer the better as far as connectivity.

  • Airport Express Conflicts with Clear Wireless Network?

After months of stumbling around, trying to figure out why my Clear Wireless internet service was so choppy, I finally plugged the ethernet cable directly into my computer, and disabled my local Airport network. Voila! Works like a charm -- very fast and reliable, now. Trouble is, I don't have network access for my laptop. The problem (I suspect) is that I also have phone service on my Clear modem.
Here's what the connection looked like (and was recommended by Clear Wireless), with <-> meaning wireless connection and <+> meaning an ethernet connection:
computer(s) <-> Airport Express <+> Linksys Phone Box <+> Clear Modem <-> Clear Tower
So, pulling the Airport Express out of this sequence cleared up ALL of the stalling problems and slowness. My new (and functioning) set up looks like this:
computer <+> Linksys Phone Box <+> Clear Modem <-> Clear Tower
My question is whether I can have somehow connect the Airport Express on the other side of my computer, and allow my local network access the Clear Wireless modem via my computer? Right now, I've got the Airport Express plugged in and running, mostly to check if there was simply an interference problem, and that doesn't seem to be the case (the phone connection is a base station with wireless handsets, so thought there might be interference there -- doesn't seem to have been an issue).
Any advice on this would be great. Clear Wireless is as clueless on technical support as it is brilliant in concept. Still very much in startup mode, with phone operators reading from generic scripts and masses of angry users spamming their discussion board -- ugh! Thus my post here. I'd love to see a schematic that shows the optimal way to bring a phone connection into a local wifi network.
    Thanks!

What I would like to do is to connect the airport express to the wireless network (Linksys-router).
What are you trying to do with the AirPort Express Base Station (AX)? Use it for streaming iTunes and/or share a USB printer, or extend your existing Linksys wireless network?

  • Is there an installation ISO with preloaded wireless drivers?

I have no access to cabled networking right now, and I want to install Arch.

The installation ISO has a standard Arch kernel, which includes many wireless drivers.  But if you need an additional driver that is ot provided by the kernel, you will need to build it yourself.
Maybe instead of just indicating that you have no networking, it would be better to actually indicate what kinds of problems you are having, including what kind of hardware you have, whether you have found that it is supported by Linux or not, and whether this hardware is actually detected in a Linux environment.
There is a saying about there never being bad questions, but I have to clarify that there can certainly be very poorly formatted questions.  Around here, if you want help, you need to be much much more explicit and show that you've taken some initiative in trying to find some information yourself.

    Not for me :-(
I have an Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N 6205 AGN and the only way get it connecting to my WPA2-AES network was downgrading to linux 3.5. But because I have optimus graphics, this means I can no longer use bumblebee, as it depends on 3.6.
Anyone got a hint for a workaround to get both working?
    Thanks
Does the 11n_disable workaround work for you?
Just upgraded to 3.6.5, I still have the problem on Centrino Wireless 100 N, with some differences: now it seems to authenticate but with very low speeds and the connection isn't stable. I haven't found out much more, I'll try to get more information during the week. Right now I still use the 11n disabled.

  • Why does iTunes 10.5.2 conflict with my wireless?

    HI,
I've just upgraded to iTUnes 10.5.2. I have a PC with Windows XP. Prior to this upgrade i had v10.4 (ish) and iTunes worked fine with my PC. Now, as soon as I launch iTunes, my wireless stops working. I can see my wireless network at home but cannot connect to it. MY internet browsers are also unable to connect to the internet from the point I launch iTUnes. Also, once I shut down iTunes, the PC seems to slow down and a) an iTunes icon remains in my task bar, b) the task manager indicates iTUnes is still running, and c) I am unable to launch iTunes again.
is this an iTunes 10.5 issue or is this an install error. When I installed 10.5, I was unable simply to upgrade the older version to the newer one - I had to download the executable, save it to my PC and launch the executable to install the upgraded version of iTUnes. Does this suggest something has gone wrong?
If I have to remove and reinstall iTUnes, will I loose all my playlists and downloaded album covers etc?
    It is very frustrating :-(
    THanks for your help

I now have a similar problem< im using windows 7 with a 64 bit OS, I not only cannot update to the latest version of I Tunes but I also cannot uninstall the existing version, when I try to do either the following text comes up:
"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable, click ok to try again or enter an alternative path to a folder containing the installation package I Tunes 64msi in the box below"
Please can anyone help me with this issue?

  • 10.4.11 Update conflict with Netgear wireless router

I downloaded the 10.4.11 update, and now I can't access my comcast email. I can surf the internet and access everything else, but when using my Netgear wireless to connect, no email. I can connect and access it elsewhere using other wireless routers. Any thoughts or similar experiences?

I hate when people do this and feel bad, but . . . I have a Netgear WPN824v2 and have not had problems with wireless connections and or retrieving mail.
I would not be surprised that the Location profile is damaged in someway since you can connect and function on other wireless networks. This type of problem I have never heard of and it kinda makes no sense. Now if you were completely locked out and couldn't surf, then I would suspect the router. But since you can surf . . .
Try making a whole new Location Profile and see what happens. And/or try to track down any differences in the connection setups for the working wireless' and see that are any differences that the OS upgrade could have changed.

  • Can AE get in conflict with my wireless router when AE is joining?

The problem is that the sound drops out after about 10-60 seconds. I also loose my Internet connection as well as a yellow light on the AE is starting to blink. After about a minute or so it reconnects automatically, but when I start playing music again the same thing is happening..the sound drops out! Any clue why this is happening? I use WEP secure my wirless network.

Does your router support any other form of encryption? See if this KB article makes any sense to you.
AirPort: Joining an encrypted wireless network
Personally, I have a sneaky suspicion it has to do with the way your ASCII/hexadecimal password is or isn't being converted to something recognisable by the router. I use a Linksys router at home with a hexadecimal password generated from an ASCII passphrase, and that seems to work fine.

  • BartPE with Intel AHCI drivers on T430s?

Has anyone here with a T430s (or any Lenovo with the same chip) managed to boot BartPE in AHCI mode without switching to Compatibility mode?
    T430s 2356GCG [Win7/WinXP dual], Crucial 512Gb SSD, 16Gb RAM
    T410s [Win XP], Crucial 256Gb C300 SSD, Gobi 2000
    + others

A Clean installation of Windows Xp with AHCI driver is suggested.
You have to create a floppy containing the driver.
Press F6 during Windows XP installation, and pick the driver.
Install XP, and you will be fine.
For Vista, user can install AHCI anytime in Device Manager Panel.
