Sense Code 52102 & 69200 error

I have Encore CS5 and am trying to burn a Pp project to a DVD.  I have had issues using the Dynamic link before so I usually transcode first then send to Encore to build and burn.  I have made DVD's before using this process with no problem and I have also used the Dynamic link with just send the Pp file to Encore if the project was pretty basic and didnt have much graphic heavy elements to it.
I bought some Memorex blank DVD-R's that have an inkjet printable face as I wanted to start printing directly to DVD faces.  I first tested the project and burned it to a Maxell RW DVD and it burned with no problem at all.  So I thought it was then safe to try one of my new Memorex DVD-R's and at some point after writing most of it, the burn failed and gave me some sense code errors.  I have received three different kinds after multiple tries(and multiple coasters).  I have received 52102, 52100 & 69200.  These all state something about a hardware issue but yet i burned twice to the Maxell RW DVD's with no problem.  I have read some things online that stress the point of different quality of blank media and have seen that Memorex is not highly thought of.  Better brands are supposedly Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden.  The previous DVD-R discs i was using for burns without faces are the Verbatim brand and I never had this error code come up with them before.  So after 4 fails with the Memorex discs i tried one of my Verbatim discs and got the same error code to come up at the writing lead in/out phase of the burn.  I even slowed the write speed down to 12x and 8x.  Why could I use my Verbatim discs before and had no problem and now they are failing like the Memorex brand?  And I can use my Maxell RW discs as well without any problem at all.  Could it be the Samsung burner?  But it makes me think it is not because I am burning on the RW's without a hitch.  This was a project that I used the Dynamic Link and was using the Pp file in the timeline.  Should I transcode it first using Media Encoder and then send that to the timeline?  But if it was the Pp file that was causing problems why is it not with my RW discs? Confused and frustrated...help please.

As well as the below, right click the program icon and select Run as Administrator, which is NOT the same thing as running the computer with the Administrator account, and which fixes several "odd" problems... To create a two layer DVD (or a BluRay?), you MUST have Encore set to use the Run as Administrator option

This is a "sense code" error: burner or media related. What disks are you using; what burn speed? Is your burners firmware up to date, etc.

  • I have a MacBook Pro, Matshita UJ-857E while recording music my drive reported an error: Sense Key=HARDWARE ERROR Sense Code=0x03,0x01 I have no idea what this means, and now my cd burner/player won't work. can someone help me fix this problem?

Please Help me. I am having problems with my MATSHITA UJ-857E DVD-R burner/writer. I burned 4 cd's and then it stopped working.
I can select my songs, and then it asks for a blank disc. It starts preparing to write the disc, then it says,"
The drive reported an error: Sense Key= HARDWARE ERROR Sense Code= 0x09,0x01 TRACKING SERVO FAILURE.
Can anyone give me some advice on how to fix it or what this means because I have no idea what it is talking about or how to begin to fix the problem?

This is an error reported by the optical drive's firmware. The tracking servo is the servomechanism which guides the laser pickup along the track on the optical disc. The error means that the servo couldn't do its job within the programmed parameters. What it doesn't say is why.
You have to be very precise as to when this error occurs. If it occurs as you wrote, while it "starts preparing to write the disc", and not when it has actually began to burn, then it's likely that the drive has gone bad and needs to be replaced.
There are other possibilities, so you should check them, but they would be more likely if the error occurred after the drive began to write. OrangeMarlin has suggested two options -- try a different brand of CD or DVD, and try cleaning the lens.

  • Mashita uj-846 Sense code error

I was here yesterday with a problem that all disks were rejected by my Super Drive. One response suggested cleaning - duh! why didn't I think of that?. That brought me some improvement. I can now PLAY CD's and DVD's - but recording is still an almost no go.
I started with Taiyo Yuden DVD-R 8X White Inkjet Hub Printable (which I was led to believe, from several forums, are the best available). These are rejected - period. I cannot get Disc Info using Toast8. They are ejected without being read.
So I purchased 5 Memorex DVD+RW. One time, I was able to use Toast8 Disk Info. The report came back properly describing the DVD. When I tried to record a movie to it, Toast8 went thru all of the encoding step just fine. From that I presumed that what I had as input was usable. When Toast8 came to the write step, I got the Sense Code error message. Since then, the DVD-RW disks are rejected immediately. In an attempt to find what the error message might mean, I found that it could be a magnitude of problems - a real catch-all, non-descriptive error message.
So, I thought I would see if the unit would do any writing. I found the Memorex Printable CD-R (52X-700mb-80minutes) that was included with my DVD/CD printer. I took the same movie that I had been trying to do as a DVD with Toast8, and set Toast8 up for a Video CD. It wrote fine. I don't know what I Did in Toast8 to cause an acceleration, but it took a 48 minute clip and compressed it into a bit over 2 minutes. Everything was visible, just fast. It was like a VCR on FF. If everything else was ok, I could learn my way out of that goof.
So the summary of all that I've tried. My unit seems to be trying to do the write thing, but is being fussy about the media?? Do all of these symptoms ring any bells with anyone - other than the obvious that was expressed in my other quest - forget the Mashita and go to an external? Is there any media that is know to consistently work with the Mashita?

The SuperDrive has a well-earned reputation for being fussy about media. And as the unit gets older and has sucked in dirt, this does not get better.
If you want to stick with using an internal drive, I'd suggest a replacement from OWC.
    http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/mac-mini/superdrive/
If you want to do the work yourself, it's not too hard once you get the case open. Or OWC can do the upgrade (and any other upgrades at the same time) for $99 plus parts, which includes overnight shipping.
    http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/mac-mini/install
They will also sell you an external, tray-loading firewire burner -- which would be less fussy about media, and likely more robust and faster.

There is only one option and that is to replace the drive. It is not expensive to perform the replacement yourself if you so choose.

  • Device Error - Sense Code(5 26 00)??

    Hi everyone..
Another problem with PrE8.01.  I am arriving at this error code: "Device Error - Sense Code (5 26 00) - Invalid Field in Parameter List - General" after the encoding and compiling media stage of burning to disk.  I have a pioneer dvd/bluray burner (new) that has been working before (not with PrE8).  Any suggestion please?
    Ben

I've asked some questions and made some recommendations in your other thread so I won't repeat them here.
    For your burning problem:
Check for a firmware update for your drive. As you described the machine as new it could well be out of date.
What brand of media are you trying to burn to?
For a DVD use the 'Burn to Folder' option. Does this complete?
Play the video (from step 3) in a software DVD player (VLC is good and free if you don't have one). Does this play OK?
Burn the folder to a DVD using a stand-a-lone burning tool (ImgBurn is good and free if you don't have one). Make sure you burn no higher than x4 speed. Does the burn complete? Does it play on a DVD player connected to a TV?
Post back with your answers please.

    Neale

  • Error Message "Device Error - Sense Code (6 28 00)"

Trying to burn a project made up of MP4 video files (about 2 1/2 hrs in length) and when it reaches about 97%, I receive this message "Device Error - Sense Code (6 28 00) - Not ready to ready change, Medium" and then Premiere elements 9 procedes to burn a perfect DVD with menus and all.  Any ideas?

SenseCode errors are most often caused by hardware issues with a multi-drive (burner), and can be from perhaps old firmware in the multi-drive, or connection issues on the system, between the multi-drive and the OS. I would first check for firmware updates from the multi-drive's mfgr's. Web site. Be sure to read the instructions for "flashing" the ROM with firmware updates - VERY IMPORTANT - follow those instructions to the letter!
They can also be caused by blank media issues, such as bad blank media, non-RW media, that has been used already, or RW media, that was not erased.
What brand, and type of blank media are you using?
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Device Error - Sense Code

I have tried to burn a DVD using Premier 2.0. Once I got a message - Device Error - Sense Code (04 91 C0) the second time I got the same message but a different Code - (04 92 05). A Third time I got an "Unknown Error" message.
After the first error, I saved it as an AVI, imported it into a new project, fixed the tail end - which had black frames on it, and am burning from that project.
I have saved the file to a folder and tried to copy it using Magic DVD Writer, and get an error message there, too.
When I play the DVD using Nero, it looks fine.
I am using an AOpen writer. Do you suppose it is the burner - or something else?
The thing is that 2 weeks ago, I burned one and it flew through. Prior to that I couldn't get 2 others to burn, and I ended up saving them to folders on an external hard drive and taking them to someone else to burn the master DVDs. The final movies are great!
    Thanks,
    Penny

    Penny,
Usually "Sense Code" errors reflect a problem with the burner and the process.
    This can be:
1.) burner is bad or improperly connected
2.) burner is "in use" by another application, like a packet-writing module from Nero or Roxio, or even the OS itself
3.) media is not the correct type, has been used or is bad
    Let's check these in order.
1.) does this burner function properly in any other application? If so, we can *probably* eliminate #1
2.) do you have Nero, Roxio or does your OS have a packet-writing (drag-n-drop) application? If so, this is *probably* the cause. If not go down to the next level. Adobe authoring apps need 100% control of the burner. If you must keep the packet-writing app, then look into the free ImgBurn program to actually do your burns.
3.) what brand of media are you using and what type is it? Have you used this brand and type before? If so, could this particular disc have already been written to, even if it was an aborted burn? I use Taiyo Yuden, or Verbatim blank DVDs, and none has ever failed to burn, or to play in a client's player. Note: some brands, like Memorex might actually contain several different producer's media, marked with their name - part of a spindle can be perfect and the rest bad. Ritek used to have a good rep, but lately they have been causing as many problems as Memorex and "bargain brands." Always use the best media you can possibly afford, and burn at the slowest speed, if your burning app allows you to reduce the burn speed.
Chances are that the cause is one of the above. If you go though all three of these and are still having problems, let us know the answers to the questions posed in the solutions area.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

Touché! I guess that makes me the eleventy-fifth MacHead with this issue...
I've been hit with this issue only a few hours ago. However, after reading quite few of this posts on the db, I'm thinking I have a media issue. I've been using Prodisc media (DVD-R 4x) and Toast 7.01 on a G4 PowerBook 17" -> no coasters, no probs at all. Then ran out. Bought some DataWrite lightscribes (8x I think) sometime back, burnt 2 data discs just fine. [Here's the fly in the ointment..] Came to burn the 3rd data disc, and KAZAM!!.., got this funky problem of: Sense Code = OX73,OX03, after which, my G4 has refused to burn anything else. Anyway, I've just bought some more Prodisc media online. Those'll take a few days to arrive. When I've had a chance to try them out, I'll report back.
Thanks very much people! This db is REALLY insightful. Keep up the good comms.

  • 2008 Mac Pro burner failure - report "Sense Key = MEDIUM ERROR - Sense Code = 0x73, 0x03"

Problem just arose - burners working days ago - NO major changes in Mac Pro --- Attempting to burn some DVDs (data only), using the latest version of Toast v12.0 & Dragon Burn, as soon as I tell either my internal or external unit to burn, it runs a few minutes then pops up dialog box - "Sense Key = MEDIUM ERROR - Sense Code = 0x73, 0x03". Blanks are new Memorex. I've restarted Mac Pro multiple times, still no burning possible. In dire need to restore capability. Most gracious thanks for ANY immediate assistance.

There are several different incompatible media sold as writeable CDs. You MUST match the media to the abilities of your drive.
I was flummoxed by buying 8x media when my drive was a 2x drive. I needed the other type, and there was nothing helpful in the diagnostics or the packaging that helped me understand that.
EDIT: There is an interesting helpful feature buried in System Profiler ... (read the last two lines of the report):

    Hi,
Sense Code errors are hardware or blank media related.
Try to burn with other blank disc, if it does not work then the problem may be because of burner.

  • Can't burn - Help - Error Sense Code (52100)

I have Adobe Encore DVD 1.5 which was purchased in a package called the Adobe Video Collection Professional. I want to start off by saying that I am new to the forum situation and also do not understand very much computer jargon. My operating system is Windows XP and I have a custom computer with 2 GB of RAM. I had a new DVD burner put in my computer after it was determined that the old burner was not compatible with my custom computer. The new burner is a Samsung Super-Writemaster 18x lightscribe DVD Writer and works with everything else in my computer except Adobe. I contacted Adobe about this problem and they said that there was a bug in the Adobe software package that I have, but our package is no longer under warranty. Is there something that we can acquire or do short of buying more software from Adobe to fix this problem. I have been able to burn some DVDs here and there, but normally I get coasters and it comes up with this error message - Device Error-Sense Code (5 21 00)-Logical Block Address/Out of Range-Read (DVD Error 336128). Please help.

Sense code errors are almost always caused by some piece of software interfering in the communication problem between Encore and the burner.
    Please have a look at
b Things and Software to avoid when authoring for DVD-V
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3bbe7ec0
A quick fix is to let Encore write a
