Sent an email that was too large

sent an email that was too large

I've tried all of the above....  Force quiting, stopping the activity monitory, shutting everthing down and restarting, I've even restarted my router.  My @att.net email is working fine, it's my iCloud email that's the issue.  it' continues to cycle (not sure what the technical term is, but the progress indicator continues to go in circles).
Any other suggesttions?

First, you need to show folders and files which are normally invisible. To do this, open Terminal in Utilities and copy/paste
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles -bool true
    Hit return, then copy/paste
    killall Finder
    and hit return again.
Next hit Cmd-Shift-G and enter ~/Library/Mail and hit return
Open the triangle next to Mail and  look for a file named
    .OfflineCache file
and move it to the Trash. If this file exists, doing this will probably fix the problem.
You will need to reverse the show hidden command by just adding false to it, instead of true and them killall Finder again.

  • I tried to send and email file that was too large and now my email is not working. the draft continue to repopulate over and over

I need help with email. I composed a new mail with an attachment that was too large. I never sent it, but it locked my mail up and continues to repopulate the draft.

I have no idea what may have caused your MacBook to stop working, but from your description it kind of sounds like it may have started before you ran Software Update and installed the new Apps. Just the general slow feeling and bugginess is what tips me off. You said that you weren't sure if you had closed all open windows, that doesn't matter if the computer restarts itself. It automatically closes all other open applications when restarting.
As to your data being retrievable, if when you take it in they do a fresh install of the OS, then no, it will not be unless you want to pay several thousand dollars to a software retrieval company.
I am glad to hear that you have taken into the Apple Store to get it fixed, and that you have all of your purchased music backed up to your iPod. You should be able to just transfer it all back to iTunes once you get your computer back should it be necessary.
As a side note, the proper place for this topic would probably in the MacBook forums, not iTunes since there is no evidence that iTunes started the issue.

  • My iPad sent an email that was in the sent box but I never sent it.

I found and flagged an email that was generated from my iPad and sent to a now defunct email address without my knowledge or permission.
The email contained a subject of just a capital letter.  "A"  and contained I.I in the body of the message and my signature "Sent from my iPad"
I was not using my iPad at the time the email was generated.  The only reason I noticed was the Postmaster Failure message.
This has never happened before and I've just recently updated to 6.1 yesterday.  I will keep an I on my sent message box and think someone from Apple should look into this ASAP as it seems like a malicious exploit of my .mac Mail account.

It's gmail too... Surely there's something

  • I screwed up and sent an email that was MASSIVE

Like the title says, I sent an email earlier today with about 30gb of video and it was obviously was WAY to big for my iMac to handle. My dumb self even sent it through the mail app. Now when I open the mail app it takes up all of my ram. I have no idea how to delete the email that is located in drafts. When I try to delete it a notification says: The message “xxxx” could not be moved to the mailbox “Trash — On My Mac”“13371.emlx” couldn’t be copied to “Messages” because an item with the same name already exists. I archived the email and it did nothing to help. I promise I normally am not this big of an idiot but I am at a loss here.
    Specs:
    2012 iMac: 8gb Ram, 1tb hd, 2.9 processer.
It is a new computer and I have opened the activity monitor and currently the mail app is taking up 6.53 (half active, half inactive)gb of ram. Thats just not normal and the problem started today when I sent the email.
Thanks in advance for the help!

    Back up all data.
Select the named mailbox in the mailbox list, then select
    Mailbox ▹ Rebuild
from the menu bar. Try to delete the message again.

  • HT1277 Error after trying to send a message that is too large

I tried sending a message that was too large, now I have a "hazard" sign all over my inbox (a triangle inside a circle with a !). How do I get rid of it?

Select and open the "Sent" mailbox and the "Drafts" mailbox for the target mail server, and see if you have that big outbound message still stuck there.  If so, delete it.
If you've filled your storage quota on the server, you'll need to log in and delete some stuff.
The web mail interface (if your mail ISP offers that) can be useful for cleaning up existing messages.
To try to bring the connection to the mail server back online, you can control-click on the inbox mailbox in the left navigation of Mail.app associated with the target mail server, and see if the server is listed as offline.  You'll know it's offline if you're offered an option in the pop-up to take the server back online, select that.  (If it's online, try toggling it offline, then back online.)

My mail account has gone off line.  How do I get it back on line?  I think I sent an email file that was too big.

    Hi,
When you have the browser open (Internet Explorer) then press the Alt key on the keyboard. It should show you the file options at the top..Then uncheck work offline and check..
    Note:
If you have HP Support Assistant installed on the computer(The Blue Question Mark) then open it ==> Complete all pending Updates & Tuneups==> Restart and Check. It may solve your problem
Although I am an HP employee, I am speaking for myself and not for HP.
**Click on “Kudos” Star if you think this reply helped** Or Mark it as "Solved" if issue got fixed.

  • I cannot sync my iphone music, i had used my i phone on another pc, now when i bought a song on this computer from the apple store, i have just been sent an email that says Your Apple ID, was just used to purchase "" by a computer or device not prev assoc

i cannot sync my iphone music, i had used my i phone on another pc, which died.  Ive managed to save the hard drive and transfer stuff across. I ended up smashing my phone and could update all other stuff on restore but cant sync any music.  It is all grey at the top of the screen.  Ive re installed itunes and cleared all phone data. Now when i bought a song on this computer from the apple store, i have just been sent an email that says Your Apple ID, was just used to purchase (a song ) by a computer that had not been previously associated with that apple id.  So do i have to tell apple now somehow i am using itunes on this pc, and if so how? Because i authorised it and it said this pc was one of 5 aujthorised.  if anyone can be of assistance then great!

I'm having a similar problem.  I had previously (over a year ago) purchased 2 episodes of Law & Order.  Then about 2 months ago, I purchased the 3rd season of Sons of Anarchy.  When I downloaded these episodes to my iPad, about a dozen full seasons of various shows popped up, too.  No money was removed from my iTunes account & theses particular shows aren't in my iTunes library on my desktop.  I've tried every which way to delete them from my ipad, but can't.  I went to the Apple store & they suggested I contact expresslane.apple.com for help.  I submitted my problem, via email Friday, as they asked, but have not received any response.  Any suggestions on how to get rid of these "phantoms?".

  • I tried sending the Adobe pdf file of a poster via email and it said the file was too large to send.  How do I remedy this?

I tried sending an Adobe pdf file of a poster via email and it wouldn't go through because it said the file was too large.  How do I remedy this?

Lots of free file hosters out there. Mediafire.com as an example. Upload a file there, copy and paste the download link you are given into your email to the client, then delete it as soon as the client successfully downloads it. Mediafire has 10 gb storage for free accounts.
Email is limited to 10 MB on attachments. So that's where file hosting comes in.

  • How do I open up an email that was sent to me in adobe?

How do I open an email that was sent to me in adobe?

Adobe Reader is not an e-mail reader!!
You can open PDF file attachments to e-mail in Adobe Reader if your e-mail client allows for selection of the application to open a particular attachment.

    Hi trircommuncations,
I hope we can help here, but I don't have much information to go on. Were you sent a PDF in email? Is it a form that you need to fill in? If so, you will need the free Adobe Reader. You can download reader from here: PDF reader, PDF viewer | Adobe Reader XI.
If I missed the boat, please let me know, and we'll do what we can to help.

    1. See my User Tip for some help: Some Solutions for Resetting Forgotten Security Questions: Apple Support Communities.
    2. Here are two different but direct methods:
        a. Send Apple an email request at: Apple - Support - iTunes Store - Contact Us.
        b. Call Apple Support in your country: Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support
            and service.
    3. For other queries about Apple ID see Frequently asked questions about Apple ID.
