Sent CPU/GPU plimit notification? High CPU

I've had a bunch of these errors showing up for a while now. Randomly my mac's CPU spikes, and it crawls to a slow halt.
I ran the hardware diagnostic tool, and it came up with an error which I believe is related to temperature 4SNS/1/00000 or something similar.
If i check the system console, I get the following messages every 15 seconds or so:
04/03/2014 15:15:41.000 kernel[0]: IOPPF: Sent cpu-plimit-notification last value 8 (rounded time weighted average 7)
04/03/2014 15:15:41.000 kernel[0]: IOPPF: Sent gpu-external-plimit-notification last value 0 (rounded time weighted average 0)
Do you think the two are related? I've tried googling the console messages, but i've not found a great deal.
Thanks.

Hi Erik you are truely intelligent I have tried the method as you suggested and now the temperature of CPU and GPU came down to 45C and 56C at idle respectively. That is really a dramatc improvement  thanks very much!!!

I am looking at the TB dashboard having just opened TB. On the left I see folders. The "sent" folder, lets say, is higher than the "outbox" folder. I want to put the "outbox" folder above the "sent" folder. How so I make that happen?

I know the addon will allow you to reorder the accounts, so you could put 'Local Folders' above another mail account.
It will also allow you to resort the folders within an account.
So if you have a Pop mail account that uses the 'Global Inbox' setup, then it should allow you to move the Outbox position within that special account.
But as the 'Outbox' is a 'Local Folder' folder, I'm not certain that you can move it out of 'Local Folders' and reposition into another account.
The method of moving folders is done via the Menu Bar.
    'Tools' > 'Manually Sort Folders'
Select the folder and use the 'Move up' or 'Move down' buttons.
Then click on the 'Refresh folderpane' button to display the new sort order.

  • GPU usage at high load

    HI!
Is it normal for the GPU to be at high load when working with Premiere Pro? I understand the app uses GPU but even when idle, not doing anything, it won't drop. Premiere just constantly using GPU.
I uses OpenHWMonitor to see CPU and GPU usages. CPU has varying clock usage, depending what I'm doing in Premiere. But it's at stable 888MHz for my GTX 780 and 1114MHz with GTX 970. Those GPUs' core clocks are constant, no deltas, just fixed values at that speed. It got to a chassis temperature like when I'm playing heavy games. Has anyone checked? Is this normal?

Hello, I subscribed because I also want to share this too.
Yes high gpu load, no rest. Not max load but 3/4 load (idle too), max load only when render effects.
I also use Edius and usage is better because gpu rests when doing nothing unlike Premiere. Even games at loading screen or map or static the gpu have min load. No problem working with Premiere with this condition but bad for gpu life and other components long term.
In one hour use i measure gpu temp, premiere 70c and edius 50c. When render for 10min, premiere 75c edius 73c. The same for render but for working Premiere is bad, if you put electrical component at high temp all the time it will degrades.
Can you measure gpu vrm? I read vrm have even higher temp.

  • IMac 27" i5 - GPU Temperature too high ?-

Hi, I just had back my imac 27 from apple store (they changed logic board).
Everything is fine but gpu temps are very high even without running cpu/gpu consuming apps.
    Both GPU diode and heatsink are 70° C, ambient 23° C, CPU 48° C and HD 52° C.
First of the repair I haven't noticed values so high.
It seems to me that some airflow path could have been blocked somehow during repair.
    Any experience about these temps?
    Tips? Apple official replies?
    Thank you in advance,
    A.

I am getting a 1 KHz whine through Behringer Truth monitors using M-Audio USB Fast Track Ultra audio/midi interface with an iMac i5 27-inch with LED monitor. The whine occurs continuously from the moment I open Logic Studio or iTunes, when the output is routed through the Fast Track Ultra. The whine does not occur when I use the imac output to imac's speakers. I also get an electronic scraping noise when I use the blue tooth connected magic mouse. I have installed ferrites on the monitor speaker wires with no reduction in the whining noise or electronic scraping noise. I have also ordered the USB with ferrite collar to see if the connection between audio/midi interface and the imac is the source of the noise. I am considering a Hum-X, as well, but I am getting into serious money taking stabs at a problem for which there ought to be plenty of competent technical support. The fact that this whine is at 1 KHz and not lower suggests that I am not suffering a typical ground loop. I am a former Pro Tools user who never had a hum or whine from my Digi and G4, which I am seriously considering recomissioning so I can make music again. I am spending way too much time and money making educated guesses and trying to diagnose a problem that all but kills the utility and purpose of this new system. I too am calling on all great engineers to step up with a diagnosis and solution.

  • Which ATI GPU cards offer higher color Gamut?

I have decided to put an DDR5 ATI card in my new Win7-64 build for editing photographs, compositing, etc. As I have used nVidia up to now I am unfamiliar with the ATI lines.
I have looked at both discussions here and the ATI site, but it isn't clear which cards will best drive my ASUS higher-gamut monitor. I have to build a new system right now. (Willl not overclock a i7-3770 or use two GPU cards linked with Crossfire. No plans for any gaming.) I would also like to keep this part of the build at a couple hundred or less. I saw that FirePro boards range a lot higher than Radeon, which I realize is gaming-oriented.
I hope to get DVI and Displayport as outputs. I use two 24" monitors, and the older unit can accept only DVI (or VGA, which I would avoid.)
Any thoughts about the current ATI line for higher gamut?
    Thanks, in advance.

Thank you Chris. You offer a lot of help here. this was a quick response.
So I should ask the question a different way. Are the FirePro cards' set up, chipsets etc., more helpful to everyday Photoshop work than Radeon cards with the same amount of memory?
No 3D or video work for me. Just photo editing. Use of layers.
There are $375 FirePro cards i could stretch to buy... but what do these boards/chipsets offer for the extra scratch? ATI' site is vague quantifying this.

  • Java Script error in email sent using extended email notification

We are implementing the extended email notifications for workflow.  We have the workflows being sent to Lotus Notes.  However, when we open the email, we receive the message 'A JavaScript error was encountered while loading a page.  Error on line 35: CallError: window.attachEvent is not a function'.  We are running ECC 5.0.  We get the error in both Lotus Notes 7 and Lotus Notes 8.  If we continue loading the page, the message and attachments are there and we are able to launch the workflow without any problems.  I have searched the OSS Notes, but did not find anything regarding this error.  Has anyone experienced this error, and if so, what did you do to fix it?
    Thanks
    Rochelle

We had it set up for HTML messages.  The HTML messages don't work with Lotus Notes.  Changed to plain text messages and everything is working now.

  • GPU running at high temperature at idle

Hi all - I have a strange problem. Under Arch, my gnome-system-monitor records a temp of 63 degrees Celsius for my GPU at idle. As a result the fan is left on permanently. I've tried running Oblivion under Wine for a while, and it rises the temperature to ~73 degrees Celsius.
I would have put this down to a cooling issue on the laptop (it's a high performance Clevo M57RU with an 8800M GTX, so I was all set to put this down to inefficient cooling. However, if I boot to a Ubuntu Live CD, the fan drops at idle without issue. I haven't yet checked the exact temperature under Ubuntu (will do that now and edit), but it must be lower for the fan to drop speed.
I installed lm_sensors, but it can't detect my GPU fan, so I can't directly manipulate it. Is there a way I can check how Ubuntu controls it and is there any way for me to monitor traffic going to my GPU that could be causing excessive usage (and thus heat)?

The one monitoring I know of is the PowerMizer section in NVIDIA X Server settings, it only shows general GPU/Memory clock though. Mine is showing "performance mode" as "maximum perf.", despite adaptive being selected and obviously working (altough it scales up quite often because of compiz).
P.S: If you are stuck on the highest performance level, maybe these tips to force the setting could help:

  • Is my GPU voltage to high?

    Specs:
    Late 2012 27 imac
    768ssd
    intel core i5
    gtx 680mx
    8gb of ram
Using evga precision (i am running bootcamp), it says my gpu clock is 324mhz. My voltage is 861mv and my gpu temp is 34 degress celcius during web browsing. Is my voltage to high? I would like to note that, when i run mac osx, i always hear a feint and nonthreatning ticking sound from below the black apple logo sign on the imac. It goes away if i turn my screen brightness to 5 notches or higher. Anything lower, it the feint sound occurs. You cant even really hear it, unless you put your ear to the logo. Is this because of my voltage?

Another quistion how do i get my dvd image to a DLT i
need that to secure my DTS with CSS copy protect so a
    was told.
You will need a DLT drive and a SCSI card (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=314695&tstart=0 has some discusssion.) If you want CSS protection then you need a DLT Drive (there was discussion at some point of CSS off of a DVD, but do not recall), but you do not have to have CSS protection if you do not want it. (Was not sure whether you were syaing to needed CSS or someonee told you you cannot makee DLTs without CSS)

  • Kernel_Task High CPU Usage (300%) and Fan Speed - On Battery and Plugged In

    Hi Everyone,
Came here to ask for help given my bad situation with MBA 13 Mid-2013 (Mavericks 10.9.2). Yesterday I`ve opened my MBA and it was very laggy and sluggish, and I could hear the fan going crazy on speed. After opening Activity Monitor, Kernel_Task was consuming 300% of CPU in average... I suspect that may be related to recently installed CleanMyMac2, after performing a series of cleaning tasks to save space on my MBA (couldn`t say I wasn`t  afraid of doing it). But this situation came a week after the cleaning above, so it`s kind of confusing. Last app I've downloaded was OneNote from AppStore. Two days later the problem started out.
I`ve checked in a lot of discussions on this kernel situation, but none was like mine. The majority had relation with the Mac being on battery; after plugged in everything worked. In my case it happens both ways, on A/C and on battery. Tried the resets but no success at all. Also tried to boot in safe mode, but somehow didn`t work for me in Mavericks.
I`m desperate to find a solution but it`s kinda hard to find it. That`s why I`m asking for your help! Thanks a lot!!!

  • Dual 27" Cinema Displays Thunderbolt High CPU

I have been running a MBPr (10.9.2) with a single 27" Cinema display for over a year no probelm.
I decided to get another one and daisy chain them as I was under the impression that the MBPr could handle this without any issues.
My MBPr has 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7, 16GB ram, NVIDIA GEForce GT650M 1024 MB so should be man enough for the job.
Since running both I have noticed the fans kick in constantly after about 40-50 mins of use and the top left corner of the MBP gets very, very hot.
As well as the fans kicking in I am getting continual spikes in CPU up to 500% from kernel_task which makes it almost impossible to do any work.
When this is happening I am seeing the following in the console log continuosly, which I am guessing would match up with the kernel_task doing tsome kind of IO work:
    20/03/2014 09:14:58.000 kernel[0]: IOPPF: Sent cpu-idle-plimit-notification last value 6 (rounded time weighted average 6)
    20/03/2014 09:15:10.000 kernel[0]: IOPPF: Sent gpu-external-plimit-notification last value 15 (rounded time weighted average 13)

    20/03/2014 09:15:22.000 kernel[0]: IOPPF: Sent cpu-plimit-notification last value 28 (rounded time weighted average 22)
    20/03/2014 09:15:32.000 kernel[0]: IOPPF: Sent gpu-external-plimit-notification last value 14 (rounded time weighted average 13)
    20/03/2014 09:15:32.000 kernel[0]: IOPPF: Sent cpu-idle-plimit-notification last value 20 (rounded time weighted average 18)
    20/03/2014 09:15:32.000 kernel[0]: IOPPF: Sent gpu-internal-plimit-notification last value 14 (rounded time weighted average 14)
    20/03/2014 09:15:35.000 kernel[0]: IOPPF: Sent cpu-plimit-notification last value 28 (rounded time weighted average 28)
If I unplug the displays and jut have the MBPr running on it's own it all calms down and goes back to business as usual.
If I unplug one of the displays (doesn't matter which one) and run just 1 display and the MBPr all goes back to normal no problem.
I also use Citrix receiver for work, if I kill this off all seems to calm down again eventually, although it can take 10-15 mins.
So far I have raised a ticket with Apple support and reset the PRAM & SMC. The next step from Apple support is to reinstall OSX, which I am loathed to do.
Can anyone tell me what the following is and what it is doing / used for?
    IOPPF: Sent gpu-internal-plimit-notification
    IOPPF: Sent cpu-plimit-notification
If anyone has tips on how to debug kernel_task too that would be great.

    Hi Andy,
I have just dug out an old Bluetooth keyboard and am running in clamshell mode. So far it seems better, I'm not seeing the kernel thrash it's nuts off!
I would still prefer to be able to run 3 x screens which I think my MBPr should be able to do, it's a waste having the screen closed on the laptop!
I'm also fairly confident it doesn;t have anything to do with Citrix too. I have witnessed the same behaviour with just Chrome and Mail running this evening.
Thanks for replying, good to know it's not just me! Hopefully Apple Engineering will lookinto it and create a fix.
    Thx//56k

  • Qosmio X770 - GPU/CPU temperatures

    Hello everyone,
What temperatures do you guys have for the CPU and GPU?
    Usually mine are around
45-50 deg for CPU and GPU - normal conditions
85 deg for CPU and 78 for GPU - during games 1920x1080 resolution full details
    Regards,

I've got the throttling problem, which means when the GPU get's under load
GPU-clockspeed is reduced form 775 to 203 MHz and games aren't playable anymore.
It happens in nearly every game or benchmark after 1-4 minutes.
The temoerature goes to 67 degrees before downclocking, but some people are reporting
reachable temperatures of 78 degree (without throttling). The main problem is that
3D Vision is nearly unusable, because it pushes the GPU-Load to high to run without
    thottling.
These are the things I've tried so far:
    1. downclocking gpu-frequency to 675MHz and 725MHz with EVGA precision:
    - works for unigine heaven benchmark (1280 x 720, 3D Vision off)
    - throttling in unigine heaven with 3D Vision enabled (clocks down to 202,5 MHz)
    - throttling with Burnout Paradise and enabled 3D Vision (clocks down before showing the
    first 3D picture)
    2. disable speed-stepping (and turbo boost) for CPU in BIOS (ver 1.30 by the way), to
preserve the power for the GPU, no downclocking of GPU
    - throttling in unigine heaven benchmark (1280 x 720, 3D Vision off)
    - throttling in unigine heaven with 3D Vision enabled (clocks down to 202,5 MHz)
    - throttling with Burnout Paradise and enabled 3D Vision (clocks down before showing the
    first 3D picture)
    3. tried to disable GPU throttling via NVPMManager (Disable Overheat Slowdon Override)
    - no effect
    4. tried to disable GPU throttling via GPU-Z (/GTC500OCP commandline-option)
    - no effect
    5. tried step 1 - 4 with several newer drivers (laptopvideo2go)
    - same result as described und 1-4
    - additional problems, no working 3D vision for example
--> returned to stock drivers (which don't support youtube with 3D Vision)
    6. email to toshiba, yesterday
    - no answer
I think this is a patchable problem (bios for GTX 560m), because for the desktop GTX 560, one can
find several articles about contributor-dependent enabling of the power limiter. hardwareluxx
has no problems while benchmarking the notebook (31+ fps in unigine heaven, which aren't
reachable with underclocking), so maybe it worked with another graphics-BIOS. I'll wait a few days
for a mail from TOSHIBA support, before returning the notebook. The machine would be really nice, if
it would be working as expected.
Best alternative for the X770 with 3D is the ASUS G74SX - you can't find anything about throttling in the
    web for this one.

  • Help: MSI GS70 Stealth Pro 210- GPU Enables On CPU Idle?

Hello, my laptop has recently developed an issue where my GTX 870M GPU will activate only when I leave my PC idle for approximately 2-3 minutes. I tried to let the laptop idle and then hover over the GPU activity notification, but as soon as I move my mouse, the GPU deactivates. I also tried to see what process is causing it by leaving my mouse hovering over the Nvidia GPU Activity notification and letting it idle, but the GPU activity window closes before I can see the process. Is anyone else experiencing a similar problem? I do have Kaspersky Pure, so I don't believe it's a virus issue. Any suggestions are well appreciated. Thanks!

Quote from: JakeSully on 08-January-15, 23:51:35
Going to try it on my msi gs70 and update it to you chc and whewlett if it works or not
Update: I can now confirm that it was nvidia experience doing the gpu switching up on idle since once i removed it on my laptop my laptop screen went bit dark and power button stayed white but i did hear cpu or gpu fan do fast noise but went quiet again but nvidia gpu didnt become active this time.
I even also noticed removing this program has even lowered temps on cpu a bit too since cpu temp usually be 45-49c as idle but now it's 41c.
    Thanks for the update.

  • Cant change to "high perfomance" GPU

    I have a HP G62 model: b19so
my problem is that after installing fresh copy of WIN 7 64bit, my notebook refuses to change the GPU mode to High perfomance and getting this windows aero error message. It changes for 3 sec and then switches back.
Installed twice new drivers and even the good old ones doesnt fix the problem.

    Hi @Geido ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
It is a terrific place to find answers.
For you to have the best experience in the HP forum I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide Learn How to Post and More
I grasp that you are unable to change the GPU mode to high performance.
I could not read the entire message as the color scheme window covers some of it.  From the screen shot I believe it tells you to disable automatic switching.
Please uncheck Automatically select power-saving GPU when on............  on the same Windows that you posted a screen shot of.
The color scheme was only changed to run the program you were trying to access and the windows tells you it will revert back to Window's aero when the program is no longer running.
